Audigy 2 ZS System Boot Prob

Starting a few days ago, on every reboot my WinXP Pro system with an Audigy 2 ZS sound card, crashes with a "irql_not_less_or_equal" message and the BSOD. If I go into safe mode and disable the sound card, the system starts without crashing but obviously with no sound. After it has started with no sound, I can re-enable the sound card and continue using the system, with sound, until the next time I boot when the whole thing happens again. I have upgraded to the latest driver but the problem is still the same. Can anyone assist? Thanks?.

I had problems with the latest updated drivers for my audigy 4, seems they are a bit buggyuninstall and do a clean boot, then re-install using orignal drivers on disc and dont update. find out how to do a clean boot on link below:?http://ask.europe.creative.com/SRVS/...ve.com,case=72

As there are errors associated with ntpd, I would temporarily disable the ntpd service and also ipv6.
If they are not the only problem, at least your logs would be easier to examine for other problems.

  • Starting a java program on System boot/startup

    Hi,
I am trying to find out how to start a java program on system startup which basically spawns a Thread which in turn does some processing.
Came across windows specific options which help one make it as a service.Making a .bat for windows and .sh for linux could be a option but not sure where to put these in respective OS or whether it is a good option.
If someone has tried out similar thing please let me know the details for the same.
    Regards
    Raj

    copy startup.bat file
and click on start-->programs--> startup(rigthclick and open)
then paste that file into that folder...
now you ll get that file opened whenever system boots.

  • Windows 7 only gives me active USB ports when the DISABLE DRIVER SIGNATURE ENFORCEMENT is selected during system boot

I can only use the computer if I press 8 and select "DISABLE DRIVER SIGNATURE ENFORCEMENT". Without this, the system comes up OK but I do not have access to the keyboard and mouse. If I select any other boot option the system boots up but I am
unable to login since neither the keyboard nor the mouse is working.
The Device Manager is clean. All drivers work and have digital signatures. I tried to use local group policy editor to disable digital signature enforcement but was not able to make any difference. The OS is 64-bit Windows 7 Professional with Service Pack
    1 and latest updates.
The system includes a WD USB 3.0 card, which I have been using for over 3 years without any problem. I recently (3 days ago) updated the WD SmartWare for Windows software. It seems that my problem coincides with this update. Since then, I removed WD SmartWare
and Installation software and restored the Registry to its previous restore point however the problem still exists.
As per SIGVERIF the not signed drivers are:
    difxapi.dll              7/13/2009      2.1.0.0          Not Signed
    usbccgp.sys              9/4/2013       6.1.7601.18251      Not Signed

    usbuhci.sys              9/4/2013       6.1.7601.18251      Not Signed
The problem appears to be related to the not signed USB drivers.
The current USB 3.0 host controller is from Renesas Electronics (ver. 2.1.39.0). According to the Device Manager it is digitally signed and working fine.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
    Thanks,
    DC

This issue was fixed on my PC as follows.
    1) Taking ownership of the above usb*.sys files in  the drivers folder
    2) renaming them to usb*.sysold
    3) Using Device Manager to uninstall all USB devices with the yellow warning ! next to them
    4) Doing a Scan for Hardware changes via the Device Manager toolbar and then waiting a few moments whilst the USB devices are re-installed with signed drivers.
    Hope this helps you....

  • Where's the "System Temp" probe? (K8T-Neo)

Where is the "system temp" probe located, and what does this measure? I've seen other posts asking this question and I can't see a definitive answer.
The reason I ask is this:
I've got a nice copper Zalman heatsink that keeps my cpu cool, around 30 idle and 40-45 under load.  The "system temperature" is always hotter than the cpu, at least 40 and can get up to 50. I stick my hand in the case and the air is no where near that hot, so I figure its reading the temp of some chip on the board, ie the northbridge (ok I know its not really the nb, but lets just call it that.)
I stuck a 4cm fan on the stock passive nb heatsink and this had very little affect on the "system temp."  So either that temp probe is not on the nb or the stock heatsink is just lame. Anyone got any ides?
Another question --- what does the V-Link DATA 2X bios setting do?  I've read that enabling it greatly improves "system performance."  But when I disable the SATA controller (as I have no SATA drives) the V-Link option becomes greyed-out, like the v-link only has to do with SATA.  Does it affect anything if I'm not using SATA?
    Scott

    Hi
The Winbond chip at top of board above Dimms and Bios monitors the temp, if there is hot air coming from the HDD bays, as chip is right under end of drive as a rule, just where all the cables and things are most likely to interupt air flow.  it can affect the temps. Its a good idea to direct air from a fan to that point.
    Cheers

I think you understand english good enough (som ni alla svenskar brukar g?ra (b?ttre ?n vi finskar i alla fall)) so I just give a link to another thread on this forum.
This issue you're having, is quite common for Creative Audigy carrds (perhaps with OEM models mostly) if you just search this forum.
You can use those instructions to get some drivers installed to your card. Install drivers first and then all the Creative software you need.
You need WinRar being installed into your system to get driver package extracted. You can download it from http://www.winrar.de/edownload/winrar.html

  • How to run commands upon system boot as user?

How can I as a user run commands upon system boot? In Vixie's cron, one can use the @reboot syntax in a crontab, and the job is ran every time the cron daemon starts. Arch however, uses Dillon's cron which seems not support this feature.

bwalk wrote:Hmm, does not work, because root owns init, so everything requires root. stb's version is valid, the -s parameter drops privileges to <USER>, spawns a shell and executes <COMMAND>. So, no security problem whatsoever.
So there is nothing like @reboot in vixiecron?

  • Token and smart card reader are not detected on Mavericks if not plugged on a USB port during system boot

Well, both token and smart card reader are not detected on OS X 10.9 if not plugged on a USB port during system boot. So, if I am already working within the system and need to use my certificates I have to plug the token or smart card reader on a USB port and restart Mavericks.
Token is a GD Starsign and Smart Card Reader is a SCR3310 v2.
    Thoughts?

SCS is a very good app, since I've read that Apple has discontinued support for PC/SC interfaces after the release of Mountain Lion.
(My previous installation was a Mavericks upgrade from Lion)
However, I don't know what and how to debug using Smart Card Services. Do you know any commands to use?
Apparently, the SC reader reports no issues: the LED is blinking blue when no smart card is present and becomes fixed blue when a smart card is inserted – according to the manuals, this shows that there is correct communication between the OS and the CCID reader.
I don't know what to do; I'm beginning to hypothesize it's a digital signer issue. In fact, my smart card only supports one application called File Protector (by Actalis) to officially sign digital documents. This application seems to have major difficulties in identifying the miniLector EVO.
The generic and ambiguous internal error comes when I try to manually identify the peripheral.
Athena CNS is one of the Italian smart cards and is automatically recognized and configured (so it's correct – no doubts about this), while "ACS ACR 38U-CCID 00 00" seems to be the real name of the miniLector.
(I'm assuming this because System Information also returns that the real manufacturer is ACS... bit4id is a re-brander)
However, when I click on it and then tap OK, it returns internal error.
As first attempt, I would try to completely erase&clean File Protector files to try a reinstall. Then, if this still doesn't work, I'd debug using the terminal.
    So:
    - Do you know any applications to 100% clean files created by an installer?
    - Do you have in mind any solutions that I might have forgotten?
Thanks in advance from an OS X fan!

Hello Anonymous2013.  I understand you're unable to get your notebook to boot.
Are you referring to it hanging on the Windows "Welcome screen?"
What is the name of the "memory cleaner software" which you were running?
What notebook do you have?  The easiest way to identify the notebook is by the product number.  This document can show you where it is located.
A good thing to do in the meantime is to test the hardware such as the hard drive and RAM.  There are built in diagnostics for this that I would like you to perform.  Please follow the steps in this document and post the results.
I'll be looking out for your reply.  I hope you have a great day!

  • System BOOT Fail

I'm hoping somebody can help me shed some light on this one because in my research I've come across at least one other Arch user who had similar issues.
First I'll lay out my system hardware since it seems to be a common trend for people who have this issue.
    Asus P5N-D
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700
    Dual nVidia 7900 GTS SLI
    4 GB RAM
Anyhow, everytime I boot my system the BIOS splash screen comes up and then I hear the fans on my video cards spool up to full speed then spool back down and the BIOS splash screen disappears a second then comes back and once it's done on the splash screen I get to a screen that says "Warning System BOOT Fail. Your system last boot fail or POST interrupted." Then I can choose F1 to continue and ignore the problem or hit DEL to go to system settings.
I've done lots of googling on the problem and the most informative thing I believe I've come across is this ... https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … bug/791089
I tried using their method of blacklisting nv_tco but it didn't do anything for me. So then I tried sudo rmmod nv_tco and I get a message that it doesn't even exist.
I did just run pacman -Syu and noticed there was an update to the kernel. There were some mentions of updating some nVidia stuff. However towards the end of running the update I get an error about conflicting files. "initscripts: /etc/profile.d/locale.sh exists in filesystem" I'll have to look into that one as well.
EDIT: Did a quick search on the pacman thing.... guess I missed that post in the news section. Updating now!
I'm pretty new so if there is any type of configuration files or anything I need to post up here please let me know. Thanks!

KingX wrote:Looks like all the users having this difficulty have the same ASUS motherboard P5N series. Try checking for any BIOS update by ASUS, pretty sure the problem lies with the board and not with kernel or OS. Just a wild shot by try booting with just one video card instead of the SLi setup. Lastly, does your system gives any beeps when the bios is flashing/disappearing?
I'm running the latest BIOS 1401 from the ASUSTeK website.
I did some experimenting with removing video cards testing each card individually. One card gives me absolutely nothing on the screen so it's dead. I tried the other card on its own and I still get the issue of POST fail.
No beeps from the system at all. I even installed the system speaker to see if it would give me any codes but it doesn't.
One thing I did notice is that after the first BIOS splash screen the system is completely restarting. All of the fan lighting turns off for about a second then comes back on and I get the BIOS splashscreen again.

    Regards
    RPS

Generally speaking, whenever you notice a fatal reset, as represented by the three magic words "<i>fatal error FATAL</i>", you'll have virtually no information in the messages file.
Your system had such an abrupt event that Solaris had no opportunity to log anything before the reboot. You could `maybe` get a hint if there were many DIMM errors or file-system-full errors in the minutes before the reboot, but those would only be hints and not the actual cause of the event.
A fatal reset gives you information through only one method. Your console.
... and of course you have your console logged and saved?
    &#91;probably not. very few people do that.&#93;
If the V880 is up and sems to be functional, you have only one recourse for the near future: establish a dedicated logging console output and hope the system breaks again.

  • Colour depth decreases on system boot

I've had my Intel Mini for about a year and have used it with a 32" LG screen (32LX2R-ZJ) since purchase. As of one of the most recent software updates the screen is set to a very low colour depth (16 colours ish) every time the system boots.
Changing the settings in the display doesn't help at all. The display correctly changes itself when using 256 colours but not on "thousands" or "millions".
I can correct the issue by rotating the screen in any direction and then reverting back to the original orientation. This just seems like a crazy thing to have to do to get a machine to boot as expected...
I'd appreciate any pointers anyone may have.

This appears to have resolved the issue on restarting the system. I guess I must have accidentally moved this slider while looking through the system settings.
It doesn't explain how rotating the display twice "fixes" (or reverts) the changes made. That's a matter for a dev team if they ever want to bother looking into it though.
    Many thanks for the help,
    Duncan.
