Audigy 2 zs to Logitech z-5500 digita

can't get digital connection:
this is what i bought:
Radio shack gold series PCM Digital Audio Cable
radio shack Stereo to mono audio adapter
this is what i've done:
Set to digital only
played a digital cd with the cd rom connected to the digital in port on the sound card
all i get is a the z-5500 telling me "No Digital Data"
please help!
i'm also having a problem with major distortion via clicking popping cracking, you name it i've got it, i did a headphone test and it seems it's coming from the 3rd audio out port
and i have all updates, i've redone my comp and reinstalled everything audio, problem persists. does it sound like i have to move on to a new card or what?
thanks for any help!

Yep, this is wonderfull and anybody that has a receiver with 5. analog inputs allready knows how to connect it. All the problems that apear on this forum is because the average receiver (that costs under 2-300$) DOESN'T have analog 5. inputs so people cannot have surround sound in games...

I just received my Dell XPS Gen 5 system that I configured with the Audigy 2 ZS and Logitech Z-5500 speakers and as others before me, I can't get them configured to work together. My support tech at Dell is working on the issue, but I haven't heard from him yet. From reading the posts in this forum and others across the Internet, I am not alone in getting the sound card and speakers to work.
So far I purchased the digital coax cable along with the /8" mono-to-mono miniplug so that I can plug the coax cable into the back of the sound card's digital out connector/din.
The logitech control pod shows the input as Coax, but that there is no digital signal being sent to it. I also have no sound from the speakers.
I've read various ways to fix this issue, some of which talk about changing the sound card settings and dvd software settings (Catherina, the administrator for this forum posted some stuff); however, I don't know where to do this in my Creative software. One of the posts says to go to Start/Programs/Creative/Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS/Creative AudioHQ and click on the Device Controls icon and then select the Decoder tab and change the SPDIF settings or something. I don't have a Decoder tab as an option. I do notice on the Bit Accurate Mode tab that the section for S/PDIF input signal monitoring shows that the S/PDIF-In signal is an "Unknown or invalid signal."
Could someone please tell me specifically what I need to do and in what software (Creative, Logitech's, my DVD software) to get this set up? Again, all I've done is hooked up the Logitech control pod to the sound card's digital out via a digital coax cable. I haven't done anything else other than upgrade the Creative software.

  • Surround Mix with Logitech Z-5500 Digital

    Hello,
I have a project for a 3D animation short movie, and I'll also make the score and sound effect for it, to make a DVD.
I don't have Logic Pro yet; I have Logic Express.
Is it possible to use a Logitech Z-5500 Digital set to do the surround mix with Logic Pro ? Using the optical digital out ?
I have a very limited budget, so I'm looking for the cheapest solution possible, with the best possible sound.
I'm waiting for a Mac Pro 2.66 with an ATI graphic cards (for Motion and 3D).
    Thanks.
    G4 1.42Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

can't you pick the surround soundtrack in the control bar that is displayed close to the bottom of the movie window when you start one in iTunes? If theres no surround track, it cannot be done, furthermore, the speakers must be run from a surround home theatre receiver. Messing around with it on one of my desktops, I can choose the surround channel, but since it only has 2 built in speakers, I obviously won't get 5.1 (L/R front, center, L/R rear, and subwoofer). I agree iTunes should have preference that surround is automatically decoded when a surround track is available much like it's a preference in DVD player. I still haven't figured that one out.

  • Use Logitech Z-5500 Digital

Is it possible to use the Logitech Z-5500 Digital 5.1 soundspeakers with the iMac? I'm planning to buy one but I wanna be sure that I can use the soundspeakers.
    Thank you.

This thread might be a little old, but i'll still respond to it anyways. I just recently purchased the logitech z-5500 speakers from Dell, and it came in the next day. The iMac, at least the new ones, have a optical output (the headphone jack) and the z-5500 have a optical input. So I bought these two items and I was set for 5.1 digital surround sound!!
    Adapter: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?cid=104&cp_id=10423&cs_id=1042301&pid=2671&seq=1&format=2

Hope this will help you out if no one has yet.

  • Audigy 2 ZS and Logitech Z-5500, TOO easy to setup ;) read on if you have issu

Well The first thing I did was ensure that S/PDIF passthrough was enabled thus to allow my speakers to do all the decoding. I was only using the 3 wires to start with. Green/black/brown,,,ish ;P
It worked perfectly right off that bat.
Then I finally got the digital coax audio cable ( no optical for me as I dont have the rack ) at first I got nothing but stereo. So I go into my DVD player software setting ( Nvidia's pure DVD decoder )
NOTE : I highly reconmend this player, trust me its perfect.
I also ensured that within the Nvidia's decoder settings ( opening the puredecoder itself and bypassing WMP0 ) enableing S/PDIF.
Still only stereo, grrrr. min of thinking I open WMP0, I then NAV to pure decoder setting and using anolg all this time it was set to pass the Audio to " PC SPEAKERS ". This is not what I have, HECK NO.
The Z-5500 running via a digital cable is not understood as PC, its understood as a "RECEIVER".
Thus setting the output to S/PDIF to RECEIVER, hey presto " COAX - Digital - DTS " reads the dissplay on the Z-5500. But hang on, the Vocal that SHOULD ONLY run throught the centre speaker is coming from the F/R - F/L. Hmmm, ok, to easy i'll change the audio flow from data to audio,
There it is, 5. - DTS - DTS es - THX all 00% working.
Ok, the point to this thread is,, well there is no point but follow what I have done here with your setup if you have issues getting a pure digital signal and then it should all work out great.
On a side note. Games are not a raw digital sound signal so playing a game with COAX or Optical may,, well will only come from the F/R - F/L. Games must be run in anolg, the 3 colour wires.
So I have both the 3 coloured wires and the COAX audio cable both hooked up. I just switch from Direct ( anolog ) for games and music and then COAX for DVD's.
Also, Im not 00% sure if I have a problem ( I dont think so though ) but the Graphic equalizer wont work with digital when watching a movie and also when listerning to music. So music is best run via the anolog cables so you can use the equalizer.
When Running, say a DVD player into you digital input you may need to enable digital recording as I think that as far as everything in concerned when running a digital or anolog source into your sound card you are more or less recording so ensure DIGITAL recording is enabled. I only think of this as it was the only way to run a musical instrument through a friends PC, was enable recording. We did not record anything but it was the only way we got sound. Any correction would be great thx
Alrighty then. I hope I have been just a tad helpful.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum & Logitech Z-5500 Digtial Speake

Does anyone really know how to set up digital sound with this configuration?
I have found the cables for enabling digital sound. I went with a Monster Standard THX Certified Digital Coax RCA to RCA with an RCA to stereo miniplug. The system detects Coax and setups up accordingly. However, with my soundcard speaker setup, all sounds are produced from front speakers and I have tried every setting under control panel, Creative Volume Control Panel, and AudioHQ to get the speakers set up properly. Any assistance in resolving this would be appreciated. I purchased the Z-5500 speakers specifically for the great surround sound they can produce but am saddened that I cannot get it to work. Please advise.

Have you read the digital connections sticky at the top of the board? Only DD/DTS will be in 5.. ?
Hmmm.... did I say I was illiterate?! Don't think so! Yes I have read just about every post I can. I have since determined that I am not alone with this problem. Why is it that some consumers experience no problems and the rest of us are left to fend for ourselves? Do I not have the right soundcard to take advantage of the superior sound? I think not. Rather than criticize, how about giving some constructi've solutions? If not, then bow out and keep your posts to yourself.

What are you talking about? Did I say you were illiterate - No, or perhaps you misread my post!
It was a simple question, not criticism! Some people miss that sticky.
You haven't said exactly what you are trying to do. You just mentioned you only get stereo using coax; in most circumstances that's normal. Since you aren't illiterate, you will have discovered that SPDIF connections only carry stereo PCM signals; so CMSS upmixing, the speaker test, games, EAX environmental effects and using the soundcard or DVD software to decode AC3 will not give you 5. over the coax connection. These are all uncompressed PCM sources and the coax cable doesn't have enough bandwidth to carry all the channels. If you are using the Z-5500 as the decoder and are having problems with Dolby/DTS passthrough, then does the Z-5500 display the Dolby Digital/DTS logo when you play a DVD? If not, then it's not receiving the raw data, and assuming you have disabled the soundcard's internal decoder, then either haven't enabled SPDIF output in the DVD software, or it has a bug. You may want to try a different DVD player to eliminate that possibility. AC3Filter ver 0.7b with WMP0 will work if you enable SPDIF in the AC3Filter options.

    Hey ppl
I'm thinking of getting those two. I've heard there is an incompatibility issue with a digital connection between them, buts as I'm not interested in a digital connection, will an analog connection? I suppose the PCI or the hub has the required outputs ( left front/back, right front/back ? center/sub) for 5. analog.

Today I buy Logitech Z-5500 Digital, i have Audigy 2 ZS clasic
I HAVE A BIG PROBLEM I CANNOT CONECT THE SPEAKER WITH optical cabel.
WHY ? HELP ME PLEASE !!!!
I buy Optical TOSLINK gold cabel and conet him to sound card, and to the Digital SoundTouch? Control Center, then turn on, and do nothing the control center will not detect the conection over optical cabel.
on display its this: Input: DIRECT 96-24
i dont know what do ?
its reqaied a special conector cable to the audigy or what ?
( i enable in windows all digital conection )
( maybe its wrong the conector on sound card, or in sound control center, i buy 3 others cables and nothing )
PS: sorry for me english its not main language i from slovakia

You say you have the Direct input selected? That's the wrong one. There is a button on the remote that says "Optical" you need to press to switch to optical input.
You are using the optical output on the Audigy dri've bay aren't you? The digital output on the back of the Audigy soundcard is not an optical output, it's for digital coax.

  • Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS + Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Volume is TOOO low. PLEASE H

I have an Audigy 2 ZS and Logitech z-5500 5. speakers. Everything was working fine and one day the volume was reduced to/0 of what it was supposed to be. The speakers are connected with analog cable (yellow/black/green) and all the connections are right (it was working before). I had the same problem when I installed the sound card at first, I just installed the drivers and the volume was way too low. I went to EAX Console and changed a few options and BANG, volume was normal. Some options on EAX will just make the soundcard stop working, like POP will work but ROCK will mute the sound completely (is it a crappy software?). Now I have the same problem, it works but it sounds like a walkman. I tried removing the drivers and installing it again several times, tried system restore and absolutely nothing works. Next step is re-installing windows and exorcising the sound card. Has this happened to anyone out there, I haven't seen any problems like this yet. Thanks

    Hey,
I have a simmilar problem, i have a logitech z-680, and as i want to play audio-dvd my left rear channal has a very low sound. I played a bit in setup and it worked, i cleared my harddisc and installed windows and it worked for a few time, but then this happens. I had this problem that the whole left rear channel was quiet while every activity PC-games/normal stereo music but now is this problem only by the audio-dvd. I dont know whether it s an software problem or an hardware defect. But i think the last one is the cause.... I hope some one out there could help us/me

  • Need a 5.1 Sound Card to run with my Logitech Z-5500 speaker sys

    Hi everyone,
I would to pick your brains a little please
I have got the Logitech Z-5500 Digital 5. Speaker System.
I would like to purchase a sound card to run with the system but was unsure on what card to get. I obviously need a 5. card, right? So will I need an X-FI or an Audigy? This is where I am getting confused, I got told that the X-FI's are 7. and the Audigy's are 5., I'm not sure if this is true?
Would someone be able to recommend a compatible card please? I have a budget of about ?00 (GBP) or 'about' $90 (USD).
I would like a card that's good for music, games and to watch movies.
Any replies would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advanced,
    Tulsi

    My fault Catherina, sorry.
Jo6Pak - Thx for your reply and suggestions.
Reihead - Thx again for yours too and your right, those speakers deserve a quality card.
I've got some good news One of my friends has the X-FI Extreme Music card and has let me borrow it in exchange to borrow my PS2 lol just so I can test it out. The good news is that it seems to work!
So far there has been no issues with the card what so ever! I was quite surprised after reading other users comments about the crackling and popping issues with mainly the nForce 4 chipset mobos.
The sound is awesome compared to before Just played Counter Strike for a while to test things out and WOW!!! No issues just quality sound! If I don't get issues with the card, I'll buy it, definitely worth it.
I do have about half of my services disabled and have some personal reg tweaks n things. Maybe that's a benefit. Could also be the x64 bit version of Windows... who knows!
Still early days... I 'could' still get crackling and popping sounds after a while, only time will tell.
I will keep this thread updated with my progress or non progress lol.
    Thanks

  • Logitech Z-5500

    Hi there!
How can I connect my fifth gen video ipod to Logitech Z-5500 Digital 5.1 speakers?
    cheers

The same way you would connect them to a computer...
Based on pictures I can see, I would say that the audio input jack is on the back of the controller (Thing with screen and silver knob) Plug a cable into the far left Jack on the back of the controller into the headphones port on your iPod with a patch cable (Probably a cable with a green plug that came with the speakers) Note that the iPod doesn't give off surround sound through the headphones jack so it will only play out of the two front speakers.
