Audigy 2 ZS + Volume control causing xp64 re

Have a problem which is causing me grief, recently popped a Audigy 2 ZS with external controller into a XP64 Dual Xeon , 6 gigs, Super Micro X6DAL-G Mobo. Everytime i turn the volume control on the ZS controller it reboots the machine. Did see a post stating PowerDVD causes reboots, but thats been uninstalled, any ideas what the hell is going on. (using latest drivers)

I'm sorry I can't help but I have the exact same problem. I have no Speaker, EAX or graphic eq settings. No telling what else don't work. I have tryied 0 different ways of removing and loading it back with any and all updats and without and no success. I hope someone here can help us.

Pressing keyboard volume control causes window to minimize

Hi there, I am a recent convert from Ubuntu to Archlinux and have my system running well, except for one minor niggle - when I press the volume up/down on my keyboard (Microsoft Wired Keyboard) the volume 'popup' window causes the current window to minimize if it's currently fullscreen. I have seen this happen in the game Osmos and when viewing fullscreen videos on youtube.
In previous Linux installations I didn't have this problem. Can anyone give me some pointers please?

Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Software Issue: Volume Control, Speaker Settings, Equalizer, C

I installed my ZS Platinum back in December, everything worked fine for 2 months, then I started to hit trouble.
First, the driver began hanging when I took my headphones in/out, resulting in no sound from either output. I updated the drivers and this problem went away.
Then, I was gaming and all the sound stopped working. Reboots did nothing, so I tried to reinstall the drivers. This is how the problems began. The first time I uninstalled all my creative stuff, downloaded the newest drivers, and installed that. I didn't realize that I couldn't download all the bells and whistles off the drivers page.
So, I unistalled those drivers, and used my CD to install the drivers and MediaSource. I encountered the PLXcore.plx error during install and every time I booted Windows. Also, none of the extra applications (Volume Control, Speaker Settings, Graphic Equalizer, CMSS) would run. I uninstalled, reinstalled and tried again.
This is where I am now. I chose not to install MediaSource this time. Again, I encountered the PLXcore.plx error during install, but I'm not receiving the error when Windows boots (because I didn't install MediaSource?). But still, most of the little applications don't run. I see the Volume Control icon in my task bar, and if I press the mute button on the keyboard the symbol changes, but when I click on the icon, nothing happens. "Creative Volume Con..." flashes on the taskbar, and a 0px by 0px white box appears above the task bar. If I click anywhere else, they disappear. The Graphic Equalizer, Speaker Settings, and CMSS dialog do the same thing when opened. THX Console does not.
Also, the on screen display for volume no longer pops up. Is this part of MediaSource? Should I install MediaSource even if I don't plan to use it's

EDIT: Thought I'd add in another problem I have:
I usally run my DISH reciever's sound through my computer through the Auxillary 2 RCA connections on my front panel. When I boot World of Warcraft or Warcraft III (Both Blizzard games), the sound through this connection becomes very tinny and reverby. If I alt+tab out of the game, adjust the speaker setting (5. -> Headphones -> 5.) the issue goes away. But each time I start one of these games, the problem returns. Any ideas? Separate volume control in 5.1 with Audigy

I recently bought a 5. speaker set (logitech x-530, low-end I know). Everything is fine, my speaker setting is correctly set to 5.. The problem I have is that since I selected the 5. settings, I lost the bass amplification options of the speaker settings. It seems logical as the sub has a dedicated channel, but the bass I get from the sub is way below what I used to get in, say, 4. or 2.. even with both software and hardware sub volume at max position. by the way, when I turn my sub volume in the surround mixer, the sub still play bass?!
Second, since I installed the newest drivers for my card, I now have the CMSS Creative MultiSpeaker Surround which is fine! The only problem I have is that now I cannot fade Front / rear anymore. The slider still moves but nothing happens. Fading left/right still works though. I de-installed and reinstalled all the drivers, and whenever I put the original drivers, I can fade front / rear, but of course I don't have multiSpeaker surround anymore. Any ideas? What I think is that the drivers update has a problem that needs to be fixed, but as my card isn't really new, I guess it'll never happen.
Third, The center channel volume isn't really loud. It wouldn't be a problem if I had a separate volume control for each channel, which isn't the case. Is there a way to ajust each channel separately? Why Creative didn't designe the surround mixer that way? A bad mixer if you ask me.

I had this exact same problem. I spent all day trying to figure it out. The answer is this: Stereo MP3 files will only play through the front two speakers.
The solution: Turn on CMSS to play MP3 sound through the surround speakers. Turn on Bass Redirect to get the subwoofer cranking. Search the knowledge base for instructions on Bass Redirect for your soundcard. For mine it is in the THX console.
After doing this, all MP3s, windows apps, games will pump sound through the subwoofer.
I'd appreciate if anyone could provide an alternate method.

Yosemite caused my volume control to stop working right! Help!!

I have a mid-2009 15" MacBook Pro and since I've updated to OS X Yosemite everytime I go from sleep to back on, my volume control is glitchy and doesn't work. I have to restart my computer to get it functioning right every time. Sometimes the Audio settings are greyed out as will to where it can't do anything. Also, I have USB speakers and they used to switch back and forth fine from when they were plugged and unplugged back in in Mavericks, but don't anymore since Yosemite. Anybody else encounter this?? Any fixes??

This may be one of the rare occasions when you should repair the permissions of the startup volume in Disk Utility. Try that and reboot. If there's no change, continue as below.
Back up all data before proceeding.

Missing 5.1 volume controls in windows xp

) I have audigy se card, tried both 620 and 62 driver. The thing is that I dont have volume controls for all channels when set to 5. speakers. There is allways only master volume, that controls left and right speaker. Is there any way to get volume controls per channel? I will try SB P7X Series Support Pack 2.0 and see if that fixes anything. OS is windows xp sp3.

Also, i do not know if it's of interest, but the reinstall did not reinstall AAS. It was there when I followed the initial uninstall phase.
Yeah, that's of interest. If AAS isn't installed, Safari shouldn't launch. (I'm more used to it producing launch error messages, rather than an error-message-free launch error, though.)
Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.

My 'Wave' volume control readjusts itself.

I have a Sound Blaster Audigy card, with Surround Mixer v4.00.23, Theme Engine v3.0.27 installed.
On the 'Basic' tab, in the middle 'Source' area, my 'Wave' vertical bar volume control will readjust itself on a moderately frequent basis, perhaps once a week. I'll use other volume controls at times, when I'm playing music in Winamp, or watching video in VLC, MPC, etc; most of the time, my 'Wave' setting remains unaltered after I've made adjustments in these other software applications, but once a week or so the self-adjustment of the 'Wave' setting occurs.
The readjustment does not seem to occur in the midst of any computer log-on session; instead, I've noticed that it's happened only after I've rebooted my machine. I'll start playing a song, or watching a video, and will notice that the volume seems lower... and think, "It's reset itself again", and sure enough, upon bringing up the Surround Mixer and checking the 'Wave' control, it indeed has.
This isn't anything 'critical', of course. I do have two basic questions, though:
- What would cause this to occur?
- Is there any way that I could effecti'vely 'lock' my Surround Mixer settings?

Haunted sound card is haunted?

Audigy 2 Sound volume keeps dropping to 0 by itself

? I have an Audigy 2 (Dell OEM) card, running on XP SP3 in a Dell XPS 630i PC. I'm using daniel_k support pack 3.6. 5. analog speakers (Altec Lansing ADA 995)
Everything has been working well,?until in the past few days, after some time, the volume drops to 0 by itself. Resetting it in the volume control in systray or in surround mixer, it may stay at the chosen setting for a while, then drops back to 0. I have not been able to associate the problem with any particular window being open, or sound being used in e.g. playing music. Diagnostics passes all tests when the volume is not 0)
Although I can't measure the temperature of the Audigy card itself, I don't think there is overheating, as the rear (exhaust) temperature is 35C, according to Nvidia system monitor. Other temps (CPU, GPU, hard dri'ves are also normal.
Advice on the cause would be welcome.

? No, no hibernation and no standby during?hours of use (I don't use a screen saver but close down the PC every night and restart it in the morning). Also no logging in or out, mine is the only account and I auto log in to Windows.
Also no DDL or DTS installed (I uninstalled DDL and DTS that were installed by?Daniel_k's package immediately as I have no use for them).
I have noticed a possible correlation with sudden sounds, such as apps with sound effects (e.g. solitaire type time wasters that I indulge in) or?telephone line ringing from my fax modem, (but according to dxdiag?that uses modem#0?line playback (emulated) and not SB Audigy 2?[EE0]?when the phone rings). It doesn't seem to happen if I'm just using WMP to play music or using an app that has no particular sound effects.
All direct sound?tests pass in dxdiag.
I do hope it's not the card going. I've had it in various PCs since 2003.

Question: I just purchased a new keyboard in place of the orginal for my iMac which gave out this morning. The brand name of the keyboard is
ONN & it's a wireless board. I've encountered an issue that is a deal breaker - if there is no possible way to correct it. The volume control buttons used to
increase/decrease/mute the volume do not work on this product. I bough this keyboard because it was one of the two that was Mac compatable at my
local store. I realize you get what you pay for but hope there is a soulution!
**Sidenote: I was curious, anyone had any other issues with these keyboards?
Some additional information:
When I woke up this morning, sat down in my computer chair, turned on my iMac and pulled up Textedit. I placed my hands on my faithful keyboard and within moments I realized that it had met it's end. I was quite upset that my original, sleek white iMac keyboard was now a thng of the past but realized that I'd need a replacement very soon in order to get my paperwork done.
Unfortunately, I did not have time to ride forty-five minutes to my local Apple store and I didn't neccesarily want to hand over the cash for one of the pricey keyboards at the time because I am going on a vacation within the next few weeks and each dime counts. So, I decided to visit a store that obviously would have the cheapeast deals in the meantime. So, I headed to to Wal-Mart to make a quick purchase
As I walked the aisles it soon became evident that today's market still is not on point when it comes to having Apple compatable hardware, softwore or anything for that matter. As I quickly skimmed the keyboards I ran across several that caught my eye, but of course, they were all made specifically for Windows. So, finally I approcahed two keyboards that were Mac compatible. The first was way too large and came with a mouse, which I did not need. The second caught my eye and I knew that this would be my purchase.:::
The verdict: an onn wireless keyboard that was both affordable and also gave off a sleek and modern apperance. (Retailed: $24.00)
So, I got home and began using the board. For the first how I was actuallly very satisfied. I like the buttons and the feel of the board. Then, I encountered a problem that made my interested for the new keyboard vanish.
The Issue: On the boards layout, the (F2) key has a symbol that notates the decrease volume control button, (F3) of course would be the increase volume button & lastly the (F4) button represents the [mute] button.
However, these buttons don't work. Sadly, I am not aware of how I could possibly change this issue or if it would even be possible. I sincerely hope that it's possible - because I like the convience of the volume control keys - they were actually my favorite part of the keyboard. Manually changing the volume by going through system preferences does not sound fun to me once so ever. I guess you could call me spoiled but I don't think I can even keep this board if it doesn't have the ability to change volume/mute via the keyboard.
This is a shame because the keyboard it'self isn't bad at all and I actually somewhat like it. So, if you have any information or an answer to this question - I'd truly appreciate hearing your responses! Also, do keep in mind I am a rookie when it comes to computers as a whole so try to simplicate things for me if that is nessecary.
Closing negative note on this keyboard: As I typed this I started encountering a very annoying problem. As I am typing in a line, forming a sentence the keyboard would randomly start typing in pargraphs above and below as well. I'm not sure if this is something that I caused by pressing too hard with my hands or if this is a deffect. Either way, I will saving my receipt and the boxing for this product until I hear further news.

No volume control elements and/or devices found

Hi, I recently installed Arch Linux and I followed the tutorials on how to configure it. At this moment I have Gnome installed and it is working fine, I only have one problem.
Every time if I try to access volume control I get the following error:
"No volume control elements and/or devices found"
I'm relatively new to Linux so it might be me just being stupid(Maybe I just don't have the right packages installed) but I've searched the web and I didn't find anything that could help, I also searched this site but there are only a few things about sound problems. I think the problem is caused because Linux is not detecting my sound card (its an on board sound card) or maybe I have not given the command to detect it/activate it. In Google I've found that 'lsmod' and 'lspci' commands are for detecting drivers, so I executed those in my terminal and put them here, I hope this might help fixing my problem.

OS X 10.5.6: High RAM usage corrupts Audio Playback and Volume Control

Software Effected or Related:
iTunes 8.1, Quicktime 7.4, Adobe CS3
Description:
Basically any RAM intensive operation seems to corrupt the sound driver so that static is injected into the stream. In addition, volume control fails to function, with decrease of volume controls resulting in a louder more corrupted signal being sent to the speakers.
Attempted Fixes:
RAM swapped, no effect.
Permissions repaired, no effect.
PR Zapped, no effect.
Reinstalled OS, no effect.
Workaround:
It's in no way ideal, but once the corruption occurs, a reboot of the machine will restore function until the next RAM intensive operations causes the problem again. It's at best an annoying band aid.
Notes:
I'm not really expecting a solution, more as I want to find out if anyone else is having a similar issue to my own. If this system behavior sounds familiar, please reply and let me know about your system. This behavior only started for me when my company migrated to OS 10.5. A downgrade is not an option, due to software compatibility issues. Thanks for your attention.

I am having that exact same issue with my new MacBook Pro. I notice faint bursts of static like the audio is trying to break through and then it is lost all together. I trash my sound prefs (both Library/Preferences and ~/Library/Preferences and reboot which corrects it, but then it happens again within a few days (or hours)... what gives? What is corrupt and what file do I need to permanently replace? Do I need to call Apple about this on a new machine?

Maybe try and let the iPod sit in a sealed container of rice for a few days to continue drying out. It might not hurt to then connect the Nano to iTunes and restore it to factory settings.

Otherwise, it's likely that the moisture has caused some internal component(s) to short circuit. In that case you'll need to have the iPod serviced/replaced eith by Apple or a third party repair company.

SB Audigy2 w/Vista: Creative Volume Control conflict with Windows Volume Control(sndvol.ex

Hi Everyone,
I'm running Windows Vista on a Dell Dimension 8300 with a SoundBlaster Audigy 2(WDM) card. I have a few no-mind questions about how these things all work together:
. After I installed Creative's Vista driver upgrade for the SB Audigy 2 series, I noticed that there are now two volume control icons in the system tray. One is for the Creative Volume Control. The other is the original Windows Volume Control (sndvol.exe). Should these two controls be running at the same time?
2. The Master Volume is a lot lower in Vista than it was in XP. When I let Vista pick the sound drivers the first time around, I figured the lower volume had something to do with those. So I downloaded and installed the Vista SB Audigy 2 Driver Upgrade from Creative's website. The volume is still very low, however, and I have to peak all my volume controls to hear much of anything. Does anyone have any ideas why this should be so?

5s Volume control issues

Anyone having volume control issues? My wife's 5s (less than a month old) is having issues with the up volume. If she mutes it using the down volume, it won't go back up. I can get it to work if I hold the volume a long time and it eventually comes back. Or last time i had to remove her case, hold the volume and release several times before it finally kicked in. Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks.

Earbuds volume control

Dear Apple,
Because I cannot find a product suggestions page/site, I'll create a new discussion topic.
I wear collared shirts to the office and the location of the volume control on your earbuds get's hung up on my collar quite frequently. This causes the earbud to adjust itself such that it's either uncomfortable, not optimal, or both. On some occasions it pulls the earbud out of my ear.
May I recommend you review it's location and move it such that it doesn't interfere with a very common article of clothing.

volume control. Answer phone calls. They are cheap not to bad an really comfortable.
