Audigy 2 ZS with Digital Optical I/O C

I got the Audigy 2 ZS with my Dell Dimension XPS. I was hoping the Optical Digital I/O card and module I had from my Li've X-Gamer would work with this card as it has the same expansion connector, but I do not get a signal from the I/O module. Is this supposed to work or am I wasting my time?
If this is not supposed to work, is there another method for getting optical out of this board? If my only option is to pick up a Platinum Dri've, I guess I'll do that, but I don't like the idea of permanent cables hanging out of the front of my PC. I have read the posts for getting coax digital, but I am kind of stuck with optical because I have no coax inputs left on my receiver and I have a long cable run from the PC to the receiver.
Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

Thanks Jason. I looked through the store selection, but did not notice any back-panel option for connecting optical (like the Optical Digital I/O card gave me on the Li've series). Is there such an device available or in the works? Or is my only option to use the dri've bay?
I have been using audigy 2 zs for quite some time also and I don't remember they have any addon optical card for this sound card. Guess you have to go for the external bay.

  • Want to connect Audigy 2zs gamer with digital so

Ok I have the audigy 2zs gamer, and the gigaworks 750 7. surround sound.
I also have hdtv cable box with digital out, and optical digital out.
I have ps3 (obviously with blu-ray) and xbox 360, both of which have a optical digital out.
I want to be able to connect to these, but I guess the only inputs ( on pod, and on card) are analog only.
My question is. Is there any way to do this. I see a digital i/o box, but I don't think it's compatible. It says it is with the value model, but not the regular 2zs gamer one?
So do I have to buy a newer sound card, or can I use this one as is, or with the digital i/o box to make it work.
I don't care about having multiple connections, I can make do with having only connected at a time.
    Thank You

I guess what can solve one of the problems is.
If I use a digital out (4 pin minipole connecter) from my cable box to the line in of the 2zs board, will it accept it...or is the line in for the 2zs analog only?

  • Powered Speakers with Digital Optical Input

Looking for a stereo pair of powered speakers with optical input for use with the MBP. I am not interested in a sub/satellite or 5.1 set-up, just a stereo pair for now. Anyone find any ?

Well, Google found I think what you were mentioning:

  • Using MacBook Pro as Digital Optical Audio bridge...

I have an idea for my MacBook Pro, but I'd like to know if it's feasible before I go and buy what I'd need to test my plan:
I have an Xbox 360 with digital optical audio out (TOSlink), and I have a MacBook Pro with digital optical audio in (through the 3.5mm minijack on the side. So far I'm A-OK.
Now, I'd like to know if I can have the Xbox's output go into the MacBook Pro's input, and route that audio signal through the MacBook Pro to either (a) the stereo output of the MacBook Pro, or (b) (preferred) my 5.1 decoder on my Griffin FireWave.
Every time I use the Xbox, I have to unplug the audio from my speakers to the Griffin FireWave, and that's a pain because the wires are all behind my desk. If I could route the audio through my MacBook Pro, then everything would be perfect. Is this possible?
And if this isn't possible, can I use an old iMic adapter I have laying around to route the audio through the MBP?
    Thanks for your help!

I found a program called LineIn that allows 'software audio pass through in to out,' but I don't think this will pass the 5.1 channel audio through to my FireWire-connected Griffin Firewave.
Does anyone know of any way this can be done? Do you think the Audio/MIDI Setup Utility application can be of any use with this? Or is there a way to pass the digital signal straight through to the Griffin?

  • X-Fi support digital OPTICAL SPDIF outp

From what I've been able to tell so far is that the only way to get the optical output is to spend a lot of money on the platinum version of the X-Fi. Am I wrong or is Creative being creative in manipulating their sales and their bottom line?
    Thank you.
ATTN Creative: We the consumers need an affordable X-Fi card with digital OPTICAL output without the front 5 /4 bay or the external platinum device! Space inside my PC is precious as I have a multimedia type microatx box. Get your engineers working on a solution!

I have nothing against the coaxial method, I just have mostly optical inputs in my yamaha reciever with the exeption of one thats coaxial but I believe my x-box is using that right now. Anyhow I looked all over the net for the digital kit and could not find one. I just have to ask what does creative have against them? To me it seems like their trying to skew the market towards their $400 dollar package. I don't know about you...

  • Audigy 2 NX with "optical-in" proble

    Who can help me ?
I have two new soundblaster audigy 2 nx. bothe seem to work not correctly.
Bothe audigy 2 nx have the same Problem: if i connect my digital sat-reciever or minidisc-recorder(optical-out) with the "optical-in" from the audigy 2 nx, ...i have no sound (side/phones, optical -out, spdif-out, rear, front, c/sub from the audigy 2 nx).
In "Rec" there you can read "what u hear", ...somtimes i go to "SPDIF-IN) ! but without success !The sound from my sat-reciever I can switch to AC-3 dolby digital sound or to normal stereo sound in my sat-reciever-menu. But only success for my audigy 2 nx ! but both audigy 2 nx - "the optical-out, rear, front, c/sub, side/phones and spdif-out" work correctly, if i connect a micro to "micro-in" or another analog audio-device to "line-in" ! In the software "creative surround mixer" all sources are open (without red cross).

i have the same problem. can anybody help me with this problem: I can't record music from my minidisc player, throught the optical cable (spdif), throught my new audigy 2 nx, to my new laptop (windows xp). everything should be set up the right way, but my laptop doesn't receive any signal, while i do hear the music coming out of my headphone, that's plugged in on the audigy.

  • How to connect Digital Optical Audio output iMac with Receiver Input

I have connected iMac with onkyo hts-3300 home theater system receiver through optical audio TosLink Cable.( http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Optical-Audio-TosLink-Cable/dp/B001ZU3G2I/ref=sr12?ie=UTF8&qid=1292865309&sr=8-2 ). Unfortunately there is no sound coming out from the Home theater system. I have verified the Receiver optical input is working fine by connecting with my TV optical audio digital out put and the it's working great. The only difference between TV and iMac is, on my TV, it has optical audio digital output and I can use this cable (http://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-A102-02M-Digital-connectors/dp/B0002WPREU/ref=s r11?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1297320792&sr=1-1) to make it work. I can also verified my optical audio TosLink Cable working because I can see the red light coming out from the cable. So the only problem could be from iMac. I doubt I need to change the additional setting to configure iMac to use external optical audio setting instead of the buit in audio setting. Hoe can I able to do it? or my iMac(IMAC 21.5"/3.06/2X2GB/500GB/9400M-ITP
MB950ZP/A) doesn't support optical digital audio out put? I have follow this thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12769423&#12769423 and to my surprise which doesn't work out for me. I doubt that i need to change some setting, but when I got to setting>> sound I cannot change any setting. I was quite depressed aldy. Can someone answer my question as i m a newbie here. Thanks a lot

Thank you very much for your reply.

@rkaufmann87 : Thank you very much for your sharing about this http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/ connection. for me what i understand is the digital audio output in airportexpress is the same as the audio out put in iMac in terms of details sepcs. So this airportexpress will only help you connect wirelessly to home theatre system, rather than waired connection. Other than that nothig much difference. So there is no point for me to spend extra bucks to attain the wireless connection. Unless the airportexpress have optical digital input, which i believe not. Correct me if I m worng, thanks

P.S. I must say I am appalled at Apple's apparent hypocrisy: Final Cut 5.1.4 not only fixed bugs and adds support for new cameras, but is required for Leopard. Yet there is no way to obtain an update past 5.0.4 via real Apple channels. A call to Apple got me as far as a level-1 tech who told me "there was a paid update to 5.1.2, but it ended last year" (almost true - that update was from 5.0, was a Universal build, and included new media); I am awaiting a call from a supervisor tomorrow, who hopefully has some actual facts at hand regarding all this. The updates from 5.1 were all free and available though Apple.com or Software Update, until Apple pulled them in a very clear move to force users to pay for the FC Studio 2 upgrade. How positively Microsoftian of them.

  • HT204400 I get no audio from this device.  All my HDMI ports are in use with the cable box, DVR and receiver .  My digital optical cable is also in use to the receiver.  Is there a solution?

I cannot get audio using this device all my HDMI ports are in use as well as my digital optical cable.  Any solutions?

How exactly is the ATV connected if all HDMI ports are in use?
If connected directly to the TV, then audio is being sent to the TV speakers, not the receiver.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Notebook Help Optica

Hi there,?I want to connect two computers to a system and right now im just using analog on one system and a cable from the line out of my computer to the line in of my speakers. I've been trying to find out what I will need to connect the speakers to the laptop? Its the logitech 5500 it supports optical and coax, so do I need an adapter for it to connect into my laptop or do I just buy any type of optical cable? My other computer has a Sound Blaster Audigy , so I was wondering if i could use coax or optical on any of the cards. Thanks a lot!?Andy

To connect the Audigy you need a coaxial cable, and?a mono 3.5mm miniplug to RCA jack adapter, connected to the digital out jack in the card. To conect the Audigy Notebook you need an optical toslink to optical miniplug cable or a toslink cable with a toslink to miniplug adapter connected to the shared headphone/spdif out in the pcmcia card. Please note that connecting via spdif you will have only stereo sound unless you pass through bitstream from DVDs.

  • Audigy 2 ZS with onboard soun

Hi! Just need a few questions answered:
My motherboard has inbuilt sound, with both Optical-out and SPDIF-out (coaxial), but my Audigy 2 ZS unfortunately does not have these connections. I want to connect my PC to my DDTS-00 decoder via analog and digital, so I can switch from analog while im playing games to digital to watch movies. Would it be possible to connect my decoder to my motherboards inbuilt sound, rather than the Audigy 2 ZS, but still use an analog connection to the audigy ZS for games and music? Can I use the inbuilt sound along with the audigy 2 zs, by installing drivers for both sound cards?
    Thanks!

Not totally sure but am 90% sure it wouldnt work, come to think of it there is probably one way you could get it to work but wouldnt be very practical. That is to have the drivers for both onboard and audigy installed and have the onboard enabled in the BIOS you will have to disable one of the cards in device manager other wise windows wont know which card to send sound to so it wont bother. When you want analogue you could enable the audigy in device manager and when you want digital enable onboard and disable audigy but you would probably find that each time you disable and enable each card you will have to reboot, which makes it not very practical.
    Hope this helps

  • Hooking up the digital optical out to my stereo reciever

I just got a new Core 2 Duo Mac Mini and I want to hook the digital optical out to my stereo. However, I noticed the connector does not seem to be a standard stereo optical cable. What do I need to do to connect this to my stereo reciever which supports digital optical in?

Actually some toslink cables that yoiu buy, come with them. I remember buying a 6' Philips that included the adapters.
Oddly enough, I think I found it at Wal*Mart (maybe target).

  • Toslink to digital optical stopped working

Hello, I am having an issue with getting sound from my MacBook Pro to my 5.1 AV Receiver. I recently bought a toslink to digital optical cable and everything was working fine until the other day I accidentally unplugged the toslink end from my computer while a song was playing, when I plugged the cable back in there was no sound and I have been unable to get it back ever since. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi thewhitestboyalive,
If you are having issues with the digital optical (Toslink) output on  your MacBook Pro, you may want to try switching it to the internal speakers to verify the audio is working that way, then change it back to the external output. You may also want to double check that no debris is obstructing the port, especially for an optical connection. You may find the following article helpful:

  • Sony BDV-E570 - Cannot get sound from TV to Sony system using Digital Optical Cord

I get beautiful audio out of this system in FM Tuner, BD/DVD, and Internet Radio - no buzz whatsoever. However... the only way that I can get ANY audio from the TV or Cable box to come out of the Sony system is with RCA cables (the old style Red / White). This produces a horrible buzz but at least the TV sound comes out. The manual gives three different options for streaming TV audio through your Home Theater System. I purchased an 8' Rocketfish digital optical cable at Best Buy. It doesn't work at all! No audio at all. It fits, but doesn't quite want to "stay in"; is this normal???
I have the Sony BDV-E570 system, Vizio 46" TV (purchased 6 months ago) and a Comcast Digital HD cable box. All three have the same optical outlet and this cable doesn't "stay" in any of them. Does this sound like an Optical Cord issue? I really don't want to take this system down and lug it back to the store.
    Thanks for any help!
    Troy
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

An optic cable should be able to fix the buzzing sound. If for some reason it isnt  staying in the back of the system, then there could possibly be a falty connection in terms of the optic cable input or connector. Otherwise, as long as you have the audio cable hooked up, no matter which route you choose to connect them, and have your tv's audio set to external speakers you should be all set. If this continues to not work, I'd try calling either Geek Squad/Home Theater specialist or call Sony's technical line and see if they have any other suggestions. I myself am a Best Buy Home Theater specialist and this is my initial reaction to the issue at hand.
