Audigy 2 ZS with Propellerhead Rea

I think I may have solved half the problem already but was wondering whether anyone else had the same problem.
I use Propellerheads Reason alot and I am always going over my CPU limit. I think it may have to do with my Audigy 2ZS. My CPU is 2Ghz P4.
Just changed the Audio driver setting from ASIO 24/96 to standard ASIO driver and the problem has halved!
So am I just a lemming who shouldn't have had that driver setting on or what? And has anyone else got any further idea about it's I do know that Propellerhead are checking out a problem like this!!!!

If you're not recording something (and therefore need low latency setting for monitoring sake), you can lower the ASIO latency a bit, to say around 0-00 ms. Try to find the best value by trying.

  • Audigy 2 ZS with Digital Optical I/O C

I got the Audigy 2 ZS with my Dell Dimension XPS. I was hoping the Optical Digital I/O card and module I had from my Li've X-Gamer would work with this card as it has the same expansion connector, but I do not get a signal from the I/O module. Is this supposed to work or am I wasting my time?
If this is not supposed to work, is there another method for getting optical out of this board? If my only option is to pick up a Platinum Dri've, I guess I'll do that, but I don't like the idea of permanent cables hanging out of the front of my PC. I have read the posts for getting coax digital, but I am kind of stuck with optical because I have no coax inputs left on my receiver and I have a long cable run from the PC to the receiver.
Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

I have been using audigy 2 zs for quite some time also and I don't remember they have any addon optical card for this sound card. Guess you have to go for the external bay.

  • Audigy 2 card with Audigy Front Panel not worki

I've just bought a used audigy 2 card with an audigy front panel. I have installed everything and have sound from the card to my speakers.
The front panel has a blinking light on the optical out and when I plug headphones into the panel, I can hear static and control the volume of the static from the knob on the panel.
I can't hear anything else through the headphone jack and can't get any input signal using the line 2 input on the front panel.
Connections and drivers appear to be OK, am I missing something......
    Thanks,Dave.

    David,
If you go into the surround mixer or Windows mixer do you see a listing for the front panel inputs (line in2/mic in2, Aux 2, etc)? If so, are any of them muted? If you go to start/programs/Creative/SB Audigy/Audio HQ/Device Settings, do you show a headphone tab? If so what options are enabled in there?
Double check your ribbon cable connection and maybe even swap sides of the cable.

  • Audigy 2 Value with Windows Vista 32-

I have a situation where I have the beta driver working for my Audigy 2 Value but Windows does not give me a choice to select a 7. setup. It only allows a mono and 2 channel setup. With the Creative program that came with the driver I was able to select 4., but that leaves 3 of my speakers in my 7. setup useless! Is there any program I can use to configure 7. with Vista, just like how Media Source had?

The DAV-BC50 appears to have only stereo analog input ( pair of L/R RCA jacks). You need a cable with a stereo miniplug on one end and 2 RCA jacks on the other. The soundcard should be set to 2-speaker mode. The DAV-BC50 does not have any way accept discrete multichannel from the soundcard nor to accept encoded AC3/DTS from the soundcard. You can use Dolby Prologic II to get all your speakers going, but you should not use processing when playing DirectSound3D games because it will dilute the intended 3D soundfield produced from 2 speakers.

  • Audigy 4, difficulty with 24/96 ASIO recording

I just purchased an Audigy 4 (SB0610, not Pro) with the intention of using it fir 24-bit recording with n-Track Studio (24-bit). When I'm in n-Track and select the Audigy 4 24/96 ASIO [D000] drivers, I can only get input from the left side of the line-in. Furthermore, when I make certain changes to audio settings in n-Track, I will lose even that input until I use the surround mixer to disable / re-enable the line input.
Is this *supposed* to work? Or am I barking up an incorrect tree?
The WDM driver does work and give me both left and right channels, but I'd like to use the ASIO driver if possible to reduce latency.
So far, I've tried changing my recording source in the mixer. I've tried disabling all loaded programs and unnecessary system services (via msconfig) and I use the auto update feature to update the Creative drivers. The update process itself was a little wierd because it didn't install the Audigy 4 drivers (only the audio console app) until I dug in to the installed programs and ran the driver installation manually.
It seems that if I change my speaker configuration to anything less than 5.1 (2.0, 2.1 etc), then I lose even the left channel. 6.1 and 7.1 give me the same results as 5.1, only left channel and no right.
I've also disabled non-essential system hardware to free up IRQs. I've even replaced the motherboard with an identical model (I found I had bad caps.)
Anyway, I can't seem to get the 24/96 ASIO under control. I also seems unstable as it will trap n-Track from time to time.
The mobo is EpoX 8KHA+, AMD Athlon 1900+, Windows XP SP 2.
Thank you greatly for any help!!!!!!!!

Thank you very much for the reply. The relevent parts seem to be:
(Note that in 24 bit 96KHz mode the inputs are limited to the analog input pairs.)
I'm in 24/96 mode because I picked the 24/96 ASIO driver for both recording and playback in n-Track Audio Devices, correct?
After selecting that driver, I tried to select a sample rate of 96000 in n-Track, but no radio button was selectable. I assume that's because the driver is determining the sample rate, correct?
    • ASIO inputs 1 and 2 come from the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 eX Drive Line In 2 stereo input;
    !! My NOTE: AnalogMix(Line-In/Aux-In/analog CDAudio/PC (W-U-H)/TAD/...)
In the n-Track settings, I only have one selectable input "SB Audigy 4 ASIO [D000]." Is it safe to assume that this represents the "AnalogMix" of all those physical inputs? If so, them I'm doing the right thing and I still don't know what's wrong. (BTW, what's W-U-H?)
    This also may be relevent:
    • ASIO inputs 15 and 16 come from the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 eX Drive Line In 1/Mic In stereo input;
    • ASIO inputs 17 and 18 come from the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 eX Drive Line In 3 stereo input;
Are these the "analog input pairs" you referred to above? If so, are "Line in 1" and "Line in 3" the left and right channels on the blue connector on the back of my card? It seems kinda hokey to split a stereo signal across two ASIO channels, one of which is not selectable.
I'm not getting it yet. A block diagram would be very handy. Please help me understand.
    Thanks again.

  • Audigy ZS Bug with Vista 32 b

Hi, (I?beg your pardon?for my english)? When I install a Audigy? 2 ZS Card in my Notebook ACER Aspire 9302WSMi I never can use the microphone.(Vista 32bits)?Message Edited by PhBaum on 0-9-200709:02 AM

I realize you're using the PCMCIA version so this may not apply.
But the Audigy?2 ZS PCI version has many issues with Vista 32.
My most annoying issue is very low volume output.
Creative is unable or unwilling to fix these issues.
Last driver update was 8 months ago.
It is so bad that I am now using my motherboard's integrated sound (SigmaTel)
You may want to dump this card and get different brand.
Once upon a time I had a perfectly good Creative webcam running on win 98.
Creative didn?t support it on XP.
Needless to say I didn't buy another Creative webcam.
Needless to say I won't be buying another Creative soundcard either.

  • Audigy 2 ZS with Windows 7 64-Bit and more than 4GB of RAM

    Hello,
I'm using Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit and I have installed 8GB RAM. I installed the latest Beta driver and I'm not able to use my microphone. It doesn't recognize any input at all. As soon as I remove 4GB RAM so only 4 GB RAM remain everything works as expected. The microphone problem is only there when you have more than 4GB RAM installed. Is there any driver or workaround to make the microphone work again?
    I don't want to
use another version of Windows 7<
    reduce my RAM<
    use onboard sound<
I hope you can help me or at least tell me if (and when) Creative wants to fix this.
    Thank you. Kind regards
    T3rm

No solution from me, but I just wanted to chime in because I have the same problem and I'd like to explain it in detail. I've actually had this problem with Vista 64-bit (6GB of RAM) for the past 2 years. It's a very flaky/random problem, where about 40% of the time the microphone worked fine, 20% where I would get minor crackling (turns my voice into a robot voice), 20% with MAJOR crackling, and 20% where the microphone didn't work at all. When it would either crackle or stop working, I would usually restart the computer. After the computer booted up again, it would work fine 95% of the time (I very rarely had to reboot it twice in a row). However, it would randomly change states (between the four listed above) throughout the duration of the computer staying on. And, it would usually progress in the direction of "being more and more broken". For example:
.) Wake up, turn on my computer. Everything works fine.
2.) Go to class, come back. Now the microphone crackles.
3.) Do some homework, eat dinner. Now the microphone doesn't work at all.
I was excited when the SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_00.exe update came out in July so I can finally get a consistent working microphone in a 64-bit version of Windows. Then everything came together last week, when I got a copy of Windows 7 64-bit Professional from my school. I tried the drivers and....FAIL. Pretty much the same thing, but different percentages/tendencies than listed above for Vista.
I just found this on another thread which highlights some useful information:
Microphone issues on Windows 7/Vista 64-bit (x64) with 4GB?of RAM or more
Audigy driver does not support 64-bit addressing, resulting in random issues with the Microphone (static, robotic or distorted voice, white noise).
    Workarounds:
    - install the 32-bit (x86) version of Windows
    - limit the RAM available to Windows to less than 4GB
    - enable Memore Hole in BIOS Setup, if?your motherboard supports the setting
Haha, why even release a 64-bit "compatible" driver when it doesn't even work right in 64-bit operating systems? Should I not expect a proper driver and buy an Asus Xonar instead?

  • Does SB Audigy 2 ZS with daniel_k's Support Pack 5.0 work fine on Windows 10 Technical Preview?

So the newest build was released which is the official Technical Preview, would love to try it on my own, but last time I did - which was several build ago - I couldn't save my sound settings, which sucked. Something to do with the lack of hibernation option probably, no idea how that works.
I would love if someone with a working Audigy 2 ZS on latest W10 would share his experience, I'm especially interested if the settings changes actually do anything.

I think you should put the card in another PC and see if it installs fine there, just to isolate the problem a bit.

    Hi,
I am getting very very low subwoofer output on my Audigy2 ZS with 5. 5200.
To test furthter, i did the follownig
    play mp3,
2 output is from front speakers
3 very very low subwoofer output
4 to confirm, removed green (front) black (read) cabled from sound card and can confirm a very very low subwoofer output
earlier with Li've! 5. every thing was working great.
    what could be wrong?
i think Audigy 2 zs is a bad card and is a marketting hype.
is it that we need a different kind of cable to connect Audigy2 zs with 5. 5200? ( i am using the cable which came with my 5200 ofcourse)Message Edited by kotecha on 2-3-2004 07:23 PM

    Hi Jeremy,
    Thanks for the response.
I have tried all the thx console setup and bass levels.
Its not affecting the subwoofer output very much.
<Infact the subwoofer output is so low that i have to go and put my ears on the subwoofer to see if its producing sound.
<FONT color=#333399>Remember that with Li've! 5. (SB0220) which also i have with me is giving all the great results. so the problem is not with speakers but with the sound card and i want my costly card (zs) to work.
(i still believe the 5. 5200 3 pole cables (green, black, yellow) which we attached to the sound card and speakers are not compatible with Audigy2 zs as zs needs 4 pole cables - but i have not verified this still as it will be a long time consuming exercise - purchasing 4 pole pins and soldering here and there on cables and poles and testing testing)
Also, why the bass boost controls (level and cutoff frequency) in bass boost are disabled? how to bring them to enabled state?
Also, in thx console setup (calibration page) , its not SAVING the changes which i make to Distance, Level and Angle. Why is that so?
To help you further in understand my problem please note that i HAVE updated all the software to its latest versions by doing the software AutoUpdate from creative support site.
So i am having atleast 3 issues now
<. VERY VERY low subwoofer output while playing mp3 on audigy2zs with 5. 5200(this is my major concern)
<2. Bass boost controls are disabled (how to enable these controls?)
<3. its not saving the changes i make to thx setup console calibration page for Distance, Level and Angle.

  • Audigy 2 card with Audigy 2 ZS drivers and Live Driv

I recently bought a Li've!Dri'veII bay for my system. To use this I plugged it into my Audigy 2 Value card which I have had for about 2 years. The bay came bundled with a SoundBlaster Li've! Platinum.
I tried to install my drivers, but as a Platinum, but the Bay still did not respond, didnt send anything out or receive a signal in. There is definitely power because when I plug in the headphones you can hear some white noise, but thats it.
I searched round for a solution and one was to install the Audigy 2 ZS drivers. I did this by following the following instructions:
    http://driverheaven.net/showthread.php?s&threadid=45004
This allowed me to also enable lots of extras such as the THX console and other stuff previously unused as my Audigy 2 drivers didnt have them.
    Now I have 2 problems:
    ) my Li've!Dri'veII Bay isn't working and
    2) In games I get sound glitches such as random noises that shouldnt be there, Missing noises such as gunshots are not heard or parts of the noise are missing.
So what do I need to do to sort this out, because I do wish to be able to use my system to its full potential.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
