Audigy 2NX USB Root Hub Prob

Hopefully someone here will have some suggestions to help resolve my issue.
I have fi've USB Root Hubs on my computer; the USB system is 2.0
Only two of those hubs are in use. One hosts my Canon scanner.
The other hosts every other USB device on my system.
That in itself is an issue, but because not all of my USB devices are in use simultaneously, it hasn't previously been an issue.
Now, however, it has become one.
Both my Audigy 2NX and a four-port self-powered USB 2.0 hub are on one USB Root Hub. The four port hub has my two printers connected to it.
The issue is that when I use my laserjet printer, it disables the Audigy 2NX. The Audigy normally comes back up after the printer has gone back into sleep mode.
However, if I am playing a game when the printer is used (I share it on a wireless home network) it disables the Audigy and it can only be brought back up by restarting the computer.
I think it is one of two issues;
. The four port hub with the printers on it cannot share a root hub with the Audigy 2NX; when the laserjet comes out of sleep mode, it uses all of the bandwidth on that root hub and disconnects the Audigy.
2. A recent driver update to the Audigy is conflicting somehow with the printer.
I might also be tempted to think it was a power supply issue if I didn't have a robust 650 watt PSU on my system.
To try to get the two devices on separate root hubs, I turned off my computer and disconnected all of my USB devices. Then I connected one at a time, powering down in between connections.
The device assignment remained the same.
My next step is to uninstall the Audigy 2NX completely from my system, and then re-install from the base drivers.
My question is; does anyone know how to force devices to install to a specific and/or different root hub outside of their physical connection? An .ini edit or perhaps a driver edit's
Thanks in advance for any help.

I have an Audigy 2 NX myself, and I found it works best off of a direct root usb port (not off a hub). The problem is that on most computers 2 USB ports share hub. Which is why you are having that comflict.
My conflict doesn't happen there, it was on the mouse at first, now it's on an external IDE Adapter i'm using.
All I do is unplug the IDE adaptor when it stops working, waiting a few seconds, then plugging it back in.
So what I suggest is to do like I did, and switch what ports things are plugged into until it's something that can plug & unplug with no real issues.
Why this happens, in opinion, is that there just isn't enough power getting to all the usb ports when there's alot of stuff plugged into them. My limit seems to be 7 items, even though most of them are lower power stuff, mouse, joysticks. I do have a 3.5" hd in a case, which is self powered, and the ide adaptor which is self powered, and the audigy 2 nx, which is, as you know, self powered. I can plug another item in, but anymore after that will knock my ide adaptor. and i still have usb ports i'm not even using. oh, the joysticks are on a hub which is where I usually plug another item in, either my mp3 player or thumbdri've.
I think it most likely an electric problem, and that it only affects people with faulty usb componets or something. I haven't heard of it being widespread or specific chipset/usb controller problem. Can't think of anything else it could be, but i'm not an electrition.
Sorry i could be of much help, but maybe you can at least make it less of a bother to deal with.
good luck

  • Audigy 2NX USB and PCMCIA 2ZS compatibil

Currently I use an Audigy 2NX USB with my laptop. I will install the Audigy PCMCIA notebook card on the same laptop. With the USB 2NX, when it is powered off, the laptop automatically configures itself to use the internal (motherboard) sound card.
() My understand is that with the 2ZS PCMCIA card, you need to physically remove the card (e.g. "Safely Remove Hardware") to revert to the internal sound-card speakers. Is that correct?
    (2) PCMCIA 2ZS comes with the Smart Recorder application. Can that application be also be used with the USB 2NX card enabled (and with the PCMCIA card removed) ?

  • USB 3.0 host controller and USB Root Hub xHCI not showing up on Windows 8.1 laptop

Greetings and thank you for taking the time to read the following message and 'maybe' attempt to help me with my current plight...
I have an HP envy m6 laptop running Windows 8.1 and Windows 7. The problem i am facing at current is that i have only 1 out of 4 usb ports working on my Windows 8.1 partition however on my Server 2012 partition, all four ports are working fine. After asking
around i have come to the conclusion that i'm having a driver issue. I compared what was present on the Windows 7 USB controllers (in Device Manager) to what was present on the Windows 8.1 controllers and i found that my Intel(R) USB 3.0 extensible host controller
    - 0100 (Microsoft) and my USB Root Hub (xHCI) was missing on my Windows 8.1 partition.
Now for some background....the problem first occurred when i was trying to solve an external hard drive issue in which none of my external hard drives where showing up when i plugged them into my usb ports, i came across an online solution telling me to
uninstall all my USB drivers in device manager, restart the laptop and let the computer re install the drivers automatically, the result was that i only had 1 out of 4 ports working. Could someone please point me in the right direction in order to fix this
    problem?

Windows 8 has native USB 3.0 drivers which explains why you are not seeing an option to roll back. I do not believe you can make the Windows 7 driver work. Have you tried uninstalling in the device manager all usb items and then rebooting to let the drivers reload? Do that with the computer off the dock and then plug it into the dock. As a general rule you should not do driver updates to a laptop through a docking station.

  • USB Root hub

    Hi,
Ive just finished building a new pc. the mo/bo is MSI K7N2 Delta ILRS and an AMD 3000cpu. XP PRO SATA maxtor 160GB
Windows loaded ok and so did the graphics and all other software  but when I loaded the mo/bo software after the restart it said that the USB Root hub (6ports) has a problem. When i look at it in device manager it says device unknown and when i click on drivers it says there are no drivers installed. Ivre tried reloading the disc etc but it wont work.
How can I make it take the drivers or is the mo/bo faulty?
If i plug in a usb mouse it will give an error but it will then work, when I tried it with a ADSL modem it didnt want to know.
Does anyone know whats wrong? Is the mo/bo a duff one?
    Thanks for your help
    Phill

    Hi I'm back.
Yippie it was a short in the case.
Instead of having screw in standoff's this case had pre raised standoff's. Where there should of been a standoff on the bottom right of the mo/bo there wasnt a pre moulded one and a screw in one wouldnt fit so I built it without the standoff.....Forgeting that there wasnt a standoff there I screwed the mo/bo down as you would normally.
The mo/bo was then pressed against the case causing the short.
Lucky it only stopped the USB from working, could of been alot worse.
Thanks again to all who helpped.

  • Bluetooth USB Root Hub Conflict

    Hi,
    New to the forum.
    I have a Lenovo T400, running Windows XP SP2.
    I am getting recurring dialog:
    USB Device not Recognized
    USB Root Hub (2 ports)
    - Unknown device
    - Thinkpad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate II
I've installed the latest Lenovo Bluetooth drivers, and followed some of the suggestions I found on the web like deleting all USB devices while logged in in safe mode.
Any pointers would be *greatly* appreciated!

  • Re: Usb Root Hub Message

    Hi
i am doing some researching for my friend who has a laptop, model no
    Toshiba Satelite A200 System Uni
    Model No. PSAF0A-02L0K
He recently has purchased a wireless internet usb stick
when he connect this through the USB ports, he gets an USB Root Hub message and informs him that this product can work faster
We are unable to source what the problem is and rectify this issue as his internet is working very slow
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like its running in USB 1.1 mode.
    Possible reasons could be:
    1) There is anothe rUSB 1.1 device plugged in that is causing the 3G USB device to run slower.
    2) There is a conflicting USB driver installed, such as a printer driver or USB Storage driver, or camera driver.
    3) The Intel Chipset drivers are incorrect or not installed properly.
Does it happen on all the USB ports?

  • MSI KT3 Ultra 2/Win 98SE/ USB Root Hub

Please, could someone help me to understand if I have the correct installation of drivers for USB
    for Win 98SE?
Having installed the USB 2.0 driver from the M/B disk
Under Device Manger > Universal Serial Bus Controller,
    I have the following entries:
    1x USB 2.0 Root Hub
    3x USB Root Hub
1x Via PCI to USB enhanced Host Controller
3x Via Tech 3038 PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
My M/B Bios version is 5.5 and I have enabled all USB ports (6) in the Bios.

    Hi,
You don't need to connect USBOC....
As for the other pins, you have to rewire them....
Take an Ohm-meter and measure them against a normal USB connector.....
Don't connect it just like that......

  • Probs with USB root hubs on new KT3 mobo

Ive just installed the KT3 mobo and I cannot get the usb hubs to work as there is an error which says :" the NTKERN.VXD device loader for this device could not load the device driver." It says that the error can be removed by updating the driver but then informs you that you have the best driver installed. So you cannot fix the problem that way then. Has anybody seen nething like this before? Please help!

    Get the driver here?

If you're using KT3 Ultra, then get the NEC USB2 driver. If you're using KT3 Ultra2, get the VIA USB2 driver.

  • SB Audigy 2NX USB - Sound distorted and interrupted after format

    Salve,
due to some softwareproblems i had to format my hd, and reinstall my windows.
    some specs first:
win xp prof, sp2, intel p4 2,2 desknote motherboard, sis vga, sis onboard sound
usb devices: ta 33 usb router, wacom intuos 3 and soundblaster audigy 2 nx
the funny thing is - before i formated, the sb worked well, i had no trouble.
then i got my graphic tablet - and it didn?t work properly - the pc chrashed every time i used the tablet. installing sp2 solved the prob, and sb and tablet worked well togehter.
i installed the system again, and first my onboard chips drivers were installed. i can't deaktivate them in the bios - so they are loaded, no matter if you want to or not.
then i connected the sb again, and the sound plays clean - but only on two speakers.
after installing the drivers, the sound was interrupted, or had some distortion.
i tried to deaktivate the onboar chip, but it didn?t solve the problem.
after installing my tablet - the sound got worse, and the mouse cursor often lagged or stucked. so i thought it could be a driver problem, or irq conflict. in installed sp2 again, but this time it did not fix anything.
i tried all i knew - deaktivate acpi, reinstall drivers, cleaning registry, re install and so on. then i calles the tech support - he gave me hints, i already tried, and gave me a alink for the webupdate drivers. i downed and istalled them - but still the same problems. i uninstalled my usb controllers, disconnected all other usb hardware, i even changed through all 4 ports - but the problem stayed. after 3 days i decided to format again - but - tadaaaa -it was useless. i still have the same problem - now one week is over and i?m fed up with this. i need my soundcard for making music, and playing dj sets....and i?m running out of time - so please - if anyone has an idea, i would be very glad.
i found out the distortion depends on cpu usage, but also changing the parameters of the hardwares, soundchip- and blasters accelaration did not help. dxdiag said it'ss all fine
    with my system.
    greetings,
    psycho mantis,
    germany

    hi,
well i could fix the problem.
first i downloaded updates for my board and all the chips on it, and windows sp2 and so on...
but nothin worked. the problem was caused by the ir port. i disabled ir support in the bios, and then it worked fine. there was an interrupt channel conflict. now everything is fine

  • Unknown device - ipod nano fine - problem with windows xp and usb root hub

Greetings all. I've seen this question come up over and over again and have been working on it following previous posts and posts on microsoft and hp sites for a couple of days now.
First off - the ipod nano is fine. Works on my son's computer well.
When I plug it into my 6 months new HP Pavilion laptop it says: 'found new hardware' and goes through the process of installing it, says it's been installed, but then shows 'unknown device'. In Device Manager it tells me there are no drivers installed, but when I try to follow the other instructions on this forum to update the drive to USB mass storage device (usbstor.inf), it tells me the best driver is installed and won't do it.
Many seem to have this problem with devices other than the iPod on Windows service pack 2 so I went to the Microsoft forums and they seem just as puzzled. I've updated all my Windows & HP software to the latest possible versions. The problem is definitely in the USB. Once, when I uninstalled the USB device and then rebooted the computer with my iPod still plugged into the port, it found my iPod, correctly identified it, and for a blissful moment I thought everything was fine! Then it reinstalled the USB drivers and made a comment to the effect that I should move the iPod to a USB 2.0 port for more effective operation and the iPod disappeared again.
I have 3 USB ports on my laptop, all are USB 2.0 and all 3 have the same problem.
I've tried all the stuff people have already said on here...does anyone have any NEW ideas? I'm hesitant to take it in for service because it seems to be a software problem that should be fixable.
Thanks in advance for your help and sorry about the long post.

This isn't a solution, but it's something I just tried and it may provide someone additional clues about's going on. I too think this is some sort of USB problem.
I have 6 USB ports. Two of them are USB 2.0. Since I applied the 03-23 update my computer hasn't recognized my nano at all. I would connect my nano and I couldn't get it to show up in My Computer, in iTunes, or on the far right side of the Start taskbar.
I just tried plugging my nano into the first USB port of my USB 2.0 pair and left the second 2.0 port empty. I then rebooted with the nano attached. Viola - I get a "Found New Hardware Apple iPod USB Device" message. My nano is now flashing "Do Not Disconnect." A small removeable storage icon with green arrow now shows on the far right side of the Start taskbar. If I click on it (like you're going to eject it) the note displayed says "Safely remove USB Mass Storage Device - Drive (F:)".
If I go into My Computer, "Removeable Disk (F:)" now shows there. However, if I try to follow Trevor's instructions in another post to "go into My Computer with iPod connected, right click it, wait till the right click menu comes up (could take a few minutes); click Format, . . ." I'm stuck. I do the right click, watch the hour glass and wait for the Format menu to come up but it never does. Eventually the hour glass just goes away. No message, no Format menu. The waiting hour glass just goes away.
My computer isn't as new as yours, but like you I am completely current on maintenance.
I'm going to keep trying . . . If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

I have a couple of usb mass storage devices I connect to my sat pro 2100 but it complains that its a standard usb port and will run at slower speeds. Is there any way (software) to upgrade the port to support usb 2.0

    Hi
Like Nicky said the easiest and cheapest solution is PCMCIA USB 2.0 card. As far as I know there are cards with two or four USB ports available.
    Bye

    Definately frustrating.
