Audigy 4 and digital NAD L70 surround system - No surround?

Hi guys and girls.
I have a fine Audigy 4 sound card and an even more fine NAD L70 A/V surround system (DVD player and mid-powered surround amplifier - The baby brother of this one: http://www.nadelectronics.com/av_rec...73_framset.htm ).
I have 4 speakers connected to the L70, 2 front and 2 rear.
My problem is, that I cannot get any sound out of the rear speakers, when testing e.g. the Creative Speaker Calibrator.
I've connected the computer to the L70 via the Digital Out on the Audigy 4 and the Digital Coaxial In on the L70.
I've set the Input Selector to Cable/Sat.
I've set the Speaker Configuration to
- Front: Large
- Center: None
- Surr: Large
- Sub: None
I've set the Creative Speaker Settings to "4/4.1 Speakers".
Where am I doing wrong? Why is it so hard to set up to work correctly?
And why cant I find a "Digital Out Only" button as with my old SB Live! 5.1
I've tried several (all?) possible combinations on the computer side and on the amplifier side, with no help.
I can get music from the computer to go to all speakers by switching between the surround modes on the L70.
Has anyone tried anything like this?
Very best regards
Svend Koustrup / eSKape

Lex,
The information I gave Felix2 is not "horrible" or wrong, they are the truth. There is no need to start attacking again, if you are not clear on the information I gave in his thread, ask for more clarification, but do not attack.
If you are having problems getting it set up, it's best to provide some detail on what settings you have changed, how everything is configured, and someone will probably be able to help you.
The start of your post isn't very clear, do you have a standard Audigy 4 or an Audigy 4 Pro? The Audigy 4 Pro does have an optical output on the external dri'vebay, the standard Audigy 4 (just a card) does not have an optical output. You would need to connect through a coaxial input (minijack to RCA, then RCA-RCA).

    Guru's,
I've got a problem getting a sound from my Audigy 2 ZS card in combination with an external digital mixer and a digital cd player. One channel of the mixer receives data from the PC (Audigy 2 ZS) and one channel receives data from the CD player. The mixer is connected to a dolby surround system- dvd player that connected to the speakers. When I try the digital out I don't get any sound, when I use one of the analog ports I do get a sound. What is here the ideal set-up and why can't I use the digital out ?

Do you mean, you do not get digital out from Audigy?
If yes, then have you set Audigy for digital output?

  • Dtt3500 and Audigy Gamer, digital output only 2 channel unless its D

Ok I recieved a response concerning my last comment but unfortunatly it did not answer my question at all. I have a DTT3500 and a sound blaster Audigy Gamer hooked up with the digital out to the /8 din adapter. I try the advanced 3d demo that came with the Audigy software and I only hear the front 2 channels, no center and no rears. The demo where you move the little icons and sound moves along with it. I have 5. activated in my windows control center along with audioHQ and digital out only is selected. my DTT3500 has 4./5. digital selected along with dolby digital/pcm audio and digital in. I am not getting the effect of multisurround at all. My center works and my rears work because playing music I can use all 5 speakers. When I use the analogue outputs I hear multisurround from the advanced 3d demo but my center doesnt work. The analogue setup sounds better but without a center channel its useless to me. Am I doing something wrong? I am using the adapter and digital DIN, what gives? The only reason I noticed I wasnt getting surround was while playing games nothing comes from behind you even on 5. games. The goldmine demo doesnt even work right, when the bird flys behind you it disappears but there is still sound from the rears. Analogue fixes this without a center but the manual and setup say to use the digital din. Do I just have a setting wrong? I would like to experiance the full capacity of multispeakers in my games.

    Dennis,
With these speakers the connection that I would suggest would be to use the Digital out on the back of the sound card into the DIN Input on the DTT3500's. This will require a converter cable for /8'' Minidin to standard DIN which can be purchased from here:
    http://us.creative.com/products/prod...0&product=0375
You will also need a standard DIN cable (one should have shipped with your DTT3500's).
This should give you 5. with digital output only enabled on the Audigy.

  • Surround Mixer for Audigy and Windows 7?

    Hello,
I've just installed Windows 7 and I see that the old XP Surround Mixer is no longer working.
    I know that?Windows has a sound?mixer, but it is?really annoying and incomplete.
Is there a functional Creative Surround Mixer that I can use with Windows 7?

I would like answers to your question also. Since re-installing, & losing surround mixer, I have sacrificed?most functions with regards to 5./7. sound. As you say, Window's own software is sub-standard when using the card. I love the Audigy2 ZS Platinum and want to get it up and running to its full glorious potential.

  • Is it possible to use an Audigy and Xfi at the same ti

Hello, this is my first post in the forums.
I have using Creative soundcards since many years ago, and all of them are working today.
Now, in my primary there is an Audigy, mainly used with Debian Linux, working wondefully, and some Windows time for games.
I'd like to use a Xfi, but the promised Linux compatibility is still on the horizon, so, is it possible to install a Xfi along my Audigy, using only the Audigy in Linux and the two soundcards on Windows (Xfi with headphones and Audigy with surround system Creative P580)?
Will there be a driver conflict of some sort (in Windows) ?

I'm running into the same problem. While it is possible to create an aggregate device using Apple's Audio MIDI setup utility, the Mac doesn't see both microphones. It only ever sees the second one that's plugged in.

  • Audigy 2ZS Digital

Just would like a confirmation on this...
If you connect the Audigy 2ZS digital out to a standard stereo reciever (sony) digital coax in it will not damage the reciever?
Sounds silly but I know the digital out is meant for connection to propietary creative lab speakers, and I have read that connecting it to other devices can damage them.
Also I should use a regular small "headphone" jack to connect to the digital out on the audigy 2ZS? This should be a mono cable also?
    Please help.. thanks!!!
If you can link to the cable/adaptor I would need that would be great!Message Edited by asharabi98 on 05-29-2006 :23 AM

Any stereo cable with jack on one end and RCA conenctors at the other is fine. It will not damage the receiver. Something like this (use one of the RCA only - I think is the white one for front speakers):
    <IMG src="http://us.st.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/trianglecables-site_900_56428">
Read the FAQ about digital connection and be prepared to have only stereo sound in games because Creative soundcards cannot send surround sound from games over digital connection.

  • I can't play iTunes Movies in 5.1 surround on my surround sound system

I like to download iTunes movies to my MacMini from iTunes store. Recently I gave up doing so because I can't play iTunes movies in 5.1 surround on my surround system. My MacMini is connected to my Marantz 6007 SR via HDMI cable. However I can get DTS or 5.1 surround sound from my system with other players such as VLC player.
How can I fix this problem as I really want to buy or rent movies from iTunes store?

    Hi komansava,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your Mac Mini is able to output 5.1 audio to your surround sound receiver, but iTunes purchases do not play in surround sound.
When playing iTunes purchases, first see if iTunes is set to output the movie you're playing in surround sound:
Set up iTunes to play content in surround sound
Movies you purchased or rented from the iTunes Store may have stereo audio and digital surround sound tracks. ...
In iTunes, click the Speech Bubble icon to view your audio choices, such as English (Surround). If the surround sound choice is dimmed or the icon doesn't appear, make sure you are using the appropriate hardware and that the content is encoded with digital surround sound.
You can find this information here:
Set up iTunes and your DVD Player for digital surround sound - Apple Support

  • How to plug a 5.1 surround system on a imac

    Hello,
    i have a mac 24' and a medion 5.1 surround system.
the problem is that exually i don't now how to plug in in my mac?!
i'v red about the Griffin Firewave (http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/firewave) but they say it doesn't work anymore with Snow Leopard.
Does anyone have a product to solve this problem?
    Thanks for any solutions!
(sorry for my bad English, I'm from the netherlands you know)

If your surround system has an optical input, you can just plug it into the audio out socket (you will need a converter lead which has a mini-TOSlink plug at the computer end) - the socket is dual function, giving analogue audio when a 3.5mm jack is plugged in and digital out when a mini-TOSlink jack is plugged in. You will only get stereo out unless you find a program - such as certain games - which can provide a Dolby Digital 5.1 output.
If your surround system has only analogue inputs you will need a converter, probably FireWire: a Google search should throw some up but you will need to check for compatibility before parting with any money.

  • How to connect X-Fi to surround system with tulip audio

I have Sound Blaster X-Fi and 5. surround stereo system with surround tulip in (this system separates audio channels itself). SB X-Fi have 3 mini-jack outs so it also separates audio channels. How I can connect my X-Fi to this system with one mini-jack->tulip cable, so it plays all 5. channels (now it plays only front channel)? I think that there is some option to send all audio-signal to one mini-jack out of my sound blaster (so stereo systems separtes it itself after), but I can't find it. Any ideas?

It think the Tulip you talking about is a standert RCA Female jack.
This is a likely a Digital Jack so what you need to do is hook it up to your digital out on your X-Fi. you can go to RadioShack and find a converter to change the Headphone jack into a RCA jack..Message Edited by Tannah on 07-23-2006 03:58 AM

Nope, two names for the same thing.
You may have to change some settings of either the TV or the Panasonic system to output to the optical port (TV) and input from the optical port (surround receiver).

  • How do I use the counter and digital signals of the 6071E while it is connected to SCXI modules?

I am contemplating using a PCI 6071E with SCXI. We have the boards (6071E), we would need the cable (I suppose SH1006868) and the SCXI system. I would like to know how would you access the counter and digital line capabilities of the board. I will be using a SCXI-1314 with a SCXI-1520 Module for strain measurements but will need to use the counter and digital lines of the board as well. Can this be done? If so, how and/or what else do I need?

  • How can I create system image of Win-7 only on drive with Win-7 (NTFS) and Win-ME (FAT-32) system partitions

I am trying to create a Windows 7 Image Backup on my Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit PC.
I have two bootable partitions on my hard drive. One is NTFS and contains the Win-7 system files.
The other is FAT-32 and contains a Windows-ME system.
When it comes to selecting the drives (partitions) for backing up, both are marked as System, and both are selected. Both are also "greyed out) - I cannot uncheck them.
Furthermore, the Windows-7 imaging utility supplied with Windows-7 returns an error saying it cannot image the disk because it contains a partition that is not NTFS.
How can I select and image ONLY the NTFS partition that contains the Win-7 system? That is what I want to do.

Any of the products listed below will backup the contents (all partitions) of your disk drive. The only limitation is that you must install the backup software in Windows 7. You will perform a "Disk and Partition" backup by manually selecting
the disk and all partitions (NTFS / FAT32) and the Master boot Record (MBR) on the drive. The destination / where the Image Backup will be stored should be an external USB drive. With a "Disk and Partition" backup you can restore any partition
to your existing drive or the entire backup (to the same disk drive or a new drive).

  • X-Fi XtremeMusic and Digital Out

Please forgive me if this has been asked before, but here goes...
I have a WinXP machine with an X-Fi XtremeMusic card that I would like to hook up to my Onkyo TX-SR600 receiver. The ideal situation would be to run a single digital line into the coax digitial input of my receiver. I would like all sounds to pass through the receiver and let the receiver do the decoding if possible.
Do I need to hook up analog cables for the 6 channels in addition to the digital line?
    Thanks for any help,
    - James T

No, just run the digital coax to the rec. If you don't have one, you will need a digital coax and a /8 mono to RCA adapter. Radio Shack has these items.
If you play games and want surround sound, you will have to go to analog out. I acutally have both analog out and digital out. They work well.

  • Producer consumer with analog and digital inputs and outputs

    Hi everyone,
I am working on a control system program for some practical test work. Currently I am working on the data acuisition component of the Labview program. My architecture is produced-consumer loops with a que. My system will have analog inputs, analog outputs, digital inputs and digital outputs. It's not a time critical sytem, but I would like all of the data acquisition to be synchronised. I have attached my program as it is at the moment. I am having trouble getting all of the data into the que since I have two data types. Also, I'm not sure if i've synchronised the four read/write sequences correctly. I would greatly appreciate if somebody could take a look at my program and give me some advice. Thanks in advance.

Write data before starting a buffered generation. The following actions can empty the buffer: changing the size of the buffer, unreserving a task, setting the Regeneration Mode property, changing the Sample Mode, or configuring retriggering.

This error occurs at the 'DAQmx write.vi' function. I just want to sent one sample per second, for each channel. I would like the producer and consumer loops to each run once every second.
I have attached part of my code with just the data acquisition and writing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
