Audigy 4 Breakout Box/Firewire Prob

Hi. Just purchased a new computer within the last month with a SB Audigy 4 Pro. I couldn't get the breakout box to respond after repeated attempts, so I assumed it was faulty hardware and had a replacement shipped. The replacement came and I am having teh same problem with it, no breakout box response. I tried plugging the firewire power supply for the breakout box into a free firewire port from teh motherboard, and got the power LED to light up, so assumedly the hardware/cable/PCI card are all working and it was a driver error. After I got the LED light, I went ahead and wiped the Audigy drivers, and reinstalled. After a reinstall, the breakout box powered on in both the motherboard, and Audigy firewire ports. It worked with limited functionality (Headphone/microphone jacks were not working) for about an hour as I toyed with settings to attempt to get those imput output jacks to respond, and after a certain settings change, the soundblaster software required a restart. Since that restart I am back to square with no functionality in the Audigy firewire port and a power LED light in the motherboard port. Is there somewhere I can download an updated firewire driver for the SB, and if I can get the box to work again, what could be causing the unresponsi've I/O ports on the front?

Alright some success again. After a little playing with the adlink cable and a couple restarts, I have the breakout box working again. TThe power and CMSS lights are on and the volume control knob works. I am still unable to hear any sound out of headphones, or to get any input from the mic port. I have tried 2 sets of heaadphones, and a second converter for the plug with no success. The sound is muted from the speakers when I insert a headphone into the jack, so the system is recognizing headphones as present, I just don't get any sound. Any suggestions?

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro- Breakout Box/ AD_LINK Cable Broke

I purchased an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro from Creative's eBay store this past January. It was described as refurbished with a -year warranty. It worked fine for several months under both Windows XP 64-bit and Linux (amd64 arch). Then, the breakout box just stopped working. At first I thought it was a driver issue, so I tried reinstalling everything- no luck. Then I realized that not even the power light came on on the box. I tried putting the card in another PCI slot, rearranging cables.
I contacted Creative several months ago and after several email arguments and hour-long phone calls, I gave up. They insisted that they only offer 90-day warranties for their ebay auctions... Being so much later, the ebay auction link was dead- no way for me to prove anything. Creative's best offer was to RMA it for $0+shipping or something ridiculous like that.
I don't want to buy a whole new card because I now it works to some extent- it shows up under 'lspci' in Linux and in Windows Device manager. I suspect it is either the cable or the breakout box but I really have no idea.
Any way I could test this- and even if, how can I purchase just the box or the cable by themselves- I couldn't find anything online.
Any ideas?Message Edited by phoneloserchi on 2-22-20072:28 PM

No, I'm afraid it is not, the X-Fi does not have the same connector for that breakout box.

  • Does no one make a Firewire to HDMI breakout box?

Back in the day I used a small inexpensive ($200) analog breakout box to get SD video from my PowerMac G5 workstation to a broadcast NTSC monitor. Firewire ran from the mac to the box, and Final Cut treated the box as if it were a camera or a deck receiving signal. The box had component out which ran to the monitor. Relatively inexpensive and worked great.
What I'm wondering is why I can't find a similar solution for HDMI in today's HD digital world? With a Mac Pro you can just send an HD signal directly to a second or third monitor, but with a MacBook Pro you can only connect one display so if you're already using an external display there's no way to also send a signal to a video monitor. Are there no options that don't involve $2,000+ AJA boxes? Thanks.

Well thankfully the Macbook Pro to which I am referring is in fact a 17" model with expresscard slot. So what I'd need is this $449 Matrox MX02 Mini?
    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/618347-REG/MatroxMXO2_MINI_L_MXO2_Mini_forLaptops.html
That's actually not too bad. I mean it sure beats having to buy a $2,000 breakout box.

  • Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro - breakout box not work

I have an an external external breakoput box which was working fine in my old computer. I upgraded the mother board and cpu and installed the Audigy as before. The actual card works but the break out box doesn't light up. If I plug the external box firewire cable in to another firewire port on the computer the power LED lights but that's all. Any ideas anyone?

I am sorry to bump this topic but it is the same as my question and does not seem to have been answered.
I have a Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro - my old one which I decided to use in lieu of the on-board sound. I installed the latest drivers I could find SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_18_0017.exe (after unistalling the existing ones)
The card itself works fine but the external interface box is as dead as a doornail. The power for the interface is supposed to come from the two connectors.
No lights no nothing - obviously I have checked the leads and the seating of the card itself. Playback is fine on MP3, midi, wave files etc. I have disabled the on-board sound in the BIOS of course.
Unfortunately the jacks on the back of the card are 1/8 in. outputs only and the external interface provides the inputs which I need for recording etc. They are 1/4in proper ones - guitar lead size which are much better.
I know it is an old card but I like it. The last time I used in in my old computer it was fine. Card/drivers show up in the device manager. I have installed this both on a Win 7 partition and a Win XP partition on my 2 HDDs with the same result. :mansad:
<font color="#0000FF">Any ideas appreciated! Is there something I am doing wrong? Thanks.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Breakout Box stopped work

Hardware:: Audigy 2 ZS (Internal Breakout Box)Im not sure what has happened, I had my power supply fail over the weekend and now my breakbox wont work, everything is hooked up correctly, Ive triple checked everything. I have read thru many other threads where people have had the same problem and have tried what everyone has suggested still not works. I have the proper drivers, volume is up, its getting power, I can see the optical out glowing red, Ive tried 2 different sets of speakers and headphones, still nothing. Everything works fine from the card its self. I even have a second card here that I tried using, still nothing. Could my power supply have damaged it's
    ----EDIT----
Ok, so 22 views now and no reply? whats going on? This is a great product but the support is total **bleep**! Not to mention all you poor people on vista, wow, I thought you guys were like the best of the best? A simple yes or no would suffice so i know if I need to buy a new one.Message Edited by CademiaX on 05-07-200706:28 PM

Try swapping with another power connector for the I/O dri've bay. Some other users in the forum mention before that swapping with another power connector for the I/O dri've help fix some problem they encounter.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - Can't get breakout box to w

Hi, I bought an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum from a friend, and he had lost the driver CD. I connected it and used the drivers I got off Creative's website, and the card works perfectly, but I can't get the breakout box to work. I connected it internally to the card, I don't know what else is left to do. Are the drivers the problem, do I need a specific app to make it work, or is it maybe a connection problem?

Hey!?Big Problem... my break-out-box doesn't work any more, too.... but it is powered on!?There is no possibility to use the mute function, IR-control, CMSS-Control or to do anything else with it... simply dead, although it is powered on. LED is green and at the optical out i have a red one shining. I tried cleansweap and reinstall drivers, nothing changed the situation. Cable are correctly connected, i didn't change the last years. I'm also missing the extended connection possibilitys in my "sound and speakers" options... formerly there where a lot more, now there are only?fi've or six controller bars.WHAT HAS HAPPEND? Is it normal that there are three steps with the CMSS options like: CMSS, CMSS2 and STEREO SOUND? I remember that formerly there was also CMSS3... correct? Maybe this is another wrong thing... Any hints regarding this box and controller problem? Thanks a lot in advance,Alabaster

  • Audigy platinum ex firewire port

We are having great difficulty using the firewire port on an audigy platinum ex. The audigy has worked very well for three years. The machine is an AMD Athlon 2GHz, AOpen m/board, Win XP with SP2.
We recently bought a LaCie d2 extreme 200GB triple interface HD. When connected to the port on the external audigy box, or to the port on the rear of the PCI card, this dri've is not recognosed by the computer. It does not appear as a HD in the hard disk section of the device manager, and we can see no evidence of a firewire client running, though the PCI OHCI Compliant IEEE394 Host Controller is installed and working. From this we conclude that the OS is set up for firewire devices, but that for some reason it is not being detected.
When we connect the LaCie dri've to a USB2 port on the machine, the device works fine; we can see the dri've, access it for directory & file lists, and read & write files to/from the dri've. We have also tried the LaCie on other machines fitted with USB2, with Win2000 & Win98 and it works fine. We therefore conclude that the LaCie does not have a fault itself. This hard dri've has its own power supply, and is not reliant on the power capabilities of either IEEE394 or USB2.
We have 'discussed' the matter with LaCie. They have asked us whether the IEEE394 port we are experiencing difficulty with is engineered only for DV, or whether it is engineered to be connected to mass storage device such as a hard dri've. We were unaware that ther were such differences with IEEE394, and we have no way of checking this; the Creative labs specification does not go into this detail.
Therefore, the questions we would like to pose to the community are as follows:
. Is this port known for certain to be engineered for the attachment of mass storage devices?
    2. Has any body actually attached a mass storage device to the external dri've box port or the port on the audigy PCI card?
    3. has anybody actually use da LaCie d2 extreme 200GB dri've on these ports?
    4. What set-up procedures were followed to get a LaCie to work?
Although we are 'newbie' status on this site we do have considerable experience of computers and computing going back to 966, and covering most types of machine that have been extant in the intervening period. This includews working with PC's since 983 and as systems engineers on Unix technical workstations. This problem does illustrate that no matter what ones experience level is, there is always something that can baffle, as this has done to us.
We'd like to thank in advance anybody who can contribute information to solve this problem, or indeed anybody who reads the posting and could point us in the right direction.

I have been using a Maxtor One Touch external USB/Firewire hard dri've and a Canon digital camcorder on the Platinum Audigy Ex Firewire port for over a year with no problems except for the time the plug on the extension cable inadvertently got pulled out of the back of the Ex box when I moved some equipment around.
I am running Windows XP Professional SP2, and I upgraded to it after I started using the Audigy Platinum Ex Firewire port. No problems either before or after.

  • Is Audigy 4 box compatible with xi

hi folks,?sorry if this question has been asked before. i have an Audigy 4 platinum pro and was wondering if the breakout box would be compatible if i bought a xi-fi card?thanks?Message Edited by decado on 04-4-20070:0 AM

    Hello
Xcode 4.1 is only available for download within the AppStore on OS X Lion (which is free)
Xcode 4.2 is also only available on the AppStore but you need a paid membership of the developer program
However you can still download Xcode 3.2.6 (the last snow leopard compatible version) if your a registered developer at http://developer.apple.com (which is free)
    Hope this helps

  • Looking into breakout boxes

yes breakout box,a/v deck, analog to digital convertor whatever youd like to call it..
i went to a computer store today they only had a few and the only one that exported it into firewire said nothing about Macs on the back so i didnt buy it..just looking for something not to silly exspesive just to have rca and s video inputs and a FW output..thanks

    Hi Ian,
I use the Canopus ADVC-100 and ADVC-110 (current model). They work great. Street price is around $220 USD The Datavideo unit that Ian Brown mentioned is a good unit also. For what it's worth, I would be cautious about the Miglia Director's Cut boxes, a fair number of people I know have had problems with them.
You don't have to worry about Mac vs PC if you are using an external converter.
The other thing you might consider, is to use your video cam as your analog/digital converter - as long as it supports AV/DV passthrough.

  • Breakout box question

Hi all anyone recommend a cheap but decent breakout box that will work with my FCP set up. I have a G5 a sony DSR Dvcam deck and a mixer with xlr outs. Someone suggested a black magic card with lots of audio outs but its £500! Anyone know of something that will work for less. I'm running FCP 6. I have a mic connected to the mixer and want to use the mixer to monitor the levels into and out of the deck, FCP and mic.
    Many thanks

Connect the mixer to your DVCam VTR's analog audio inputs and outputs. When you need to record with the mic to your Mac, simply switch the DVCam VTR's input to Video or S-Video. When monitoring the output of FCP, switch the DVCam VTR's input to DV (Firewire).

  • Audigy4 Pro - spdif out without the breakout box possib

Hi there,?I have just gotten an audigy pro 4 but it didnt come with the breakout box. Is it still possible to get spdif out of the card WITHOUT the breakout box?I'm guessing no as the outputs dont look like dual function lineout/digital outs?please tell me im wrong!?cheers?cRuNcHiE?

    Good lord, you're right!
Why did your 'Pro' come without the breakout box? That's unfortunate as the card itself has reduced connectivity. You'd have to connect the Digital I/O module to the digital port on the external box which apparently you don't have.
Sorry but you need the box! Either that or dump your Audigy 4 Pro and get the regular model. Or better yet an X-Fi XtremeMusic (?50) -- Same quality as the models 5 times its price, and still does it all in hardware (it's the SAME card, comes without the breakout box, BUT you can attach the digital I/O module to it, unlike the Audigy 4 Pro)
    Hope that hel

what's the use of the CAN breakout box apart from providing external power?

Here is the data sheet for the 9862.
    http://www.ni.com/datasheet/pdf/en/ds-97
The 9862 includes everything except the chassis.  A USB or Ethernet based cDAQ chassis is all you'll need to read and write CAN using the XNET library which I'm a big fan of.  Or if you are wanting to go the embedded design you'll want a cRIO chassis, or one of the chassis with an embedded PC which can run head-less.  These get a lot more expensive and you'll want to make sure the chassis is compatible with the 9862 some of the older ones are not.

  • K3 Breakout Box and HD Monitor

    Hello everyone,
I am just trying to confirm something here. In regards to the Sony PVM-14L/5, I read that you don't need the HD-SDI board to monitor the HD footage. Instead, if you have a Kona card and a Breakout Box, you can connect the two using the component outputs/inputs. What confuses me is that the PVM offers both component and composite, but the K3 Box offers only composite.
Has anyone tried or heard of this working? I hope it does; would love to save $1200.
    Thanks In Advance!
    ~Athen

Just got the confirmation, the K3 does offer component and so it will work with the PVM as a direct feed; no need for the HD-SDI board.
    Spectacular!
