Audigy 4 digital i/o prob

Here's my problem. I have an xbox with a coaxial digital output. I've attached a /8 inch adapter to that, and am trying to attach it to the audigy 4's digital i/o so I can have the soundcard decode the spdif signal to my 5./7. speaker setup. I theorized that since the i/o board that Creative sells attaches itself to the soundcard via a /8 inch plug, that I should be able to do the same without the need to spend for the extra attachment.
When I do this however, I hear noise, which sounds a lot like the raw spdif signal, before it's processed.
Any suggestions?Message Edited by elric300 on 2-9-200602:22 PM

Creatieve Audio Console, istalled w/ driver update (least came w/ two or three latest updates).
If you don't have this application then, search your hard disk after ctpanel.exe and use it.
Look settings for S/PDIF I/O and Bit-Accurate features. In CTPanel those maybe differently named options.

• Digital output for SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Prob

I am trying to connect SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum to my Amplifier (Sony DVP-NS92V) via the SPDIF coaxial digital connection (I have also tried the digital output at the rear panel), unfortunitely the output i got is only on the left and right front speakers. I am currently having a 7. channel surround system. I have clicked both the dital output only under speaker settings and advanced control for play control, and I have also?tried by using both DTS and THX media file, but still does not work. Can anybody help ?

With a digital connection (optical or coaxial SPDIF) that is normal. Check this sticky thread for more info:

• Audigy 4 rear speakers prob

Hi.
I've got a problem with my sound.
I use a Audigy 4 pro with the external unit and a Cambridge Soundworks (Creative) DTT3500 digital speakerset. The external unit only sends the digital signal to the speakerset.
When I Test the speakers the sound "Rear right" comes from front right and "Rear left" comes from front left. Front speakers and center speaker sound works fine. Untill now I had no problems with my sound. I didn't change a thing. Speakers and software options haven't changed. The EAX console says 5. speakers. CMSS is off. I've installed the latest drivers and that also didn't make a difference. I think the problem started after I installed a logitech webcam but if I disconnect the webcam the problem stays.
Help please.

I had exactly the same problem. Only solution for me was to slightly withdraw the 4 pin plug from the Audigy 4.
I guess that means it is now acting as a three pin plug, but works for me. I don't know why?

• Audigy digital out to pioneer vsx-1015 A/V receiver/amplif

Hello, I have audigy 2, it has the digital out 3.5mm streo connector, when I connect it with 3.5mm stereo plug - > RCA chord, and the RCA plug into my amplifier, it produces no sound at all. I have set audigy to pass through mode, but nothing happens? Do I need to change my audiocard to get SPDIF correctly out? I read somewhere that it doesn?t matter if the 3.5mm plug is stereo or mono, or does it's

Do I need this kind of adapter: http://www.bdog.fi/cgi-bin/netstore/...=0887500004423 (sorry in finnish, but you get the point) to convert digital out to RCA spdif?

Is the Li've! 24-bit model? if it isn't I'm afraid it won't work. The digital-out jack in most of the the Li've! and Audigy series is not compatible with the Digital I/O module. According to the ?The Digital I/O Module works with:?Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro
?Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatalty FPS

?Sound Blaster Li've! 24 bit?* It will not work on any other model of Sound Blaster card?If you have some DIY skills probably you can make an adapter to the AUD_EXT header in the Audigy.

• Audigy Digital output ---- spdif in

hello Creative team
a question for a friend of me
it's possible to plug the digital audigy card , in a Spdif amp input
thanks for your help

Yes, it's possible, but if your friend is talking about a multichannel receiver which also has multichannel analog inputs, connecting to those provides a much better match to the soundcard's capabilities.

• How does one erase thumbnails assigned to JPegs-Digital Pic Frame Prob.

Recently was given an electronic "Digital Picture Frame" that displays pictures in a slideshow if JPegs are stored on an inserted memory card. Problem I experienced (using a memory stick pro) was that it would indeed cycle thru JPegs but it would always present an out of focus picture of the file after the good one. It continued this thru every JPeg.
Contacted the manufacturer "Smartparts" who said the problem was likely the thumbnail icon adjacent to the file name. Photoshop Elements 2 created the icon after I edited and resized the picture then moved the ones I wanted to view via drag and drop to the memory stick in a card reader. Then I move the MS to the Picture Viewer and that's when the problem manifests itself..
Is there an easy way to strip the thumbnails from the file name after transfer to the memory stick? Their tech support suggested "Finder Cleaner" but that seem to have some bad reviews.
Any suggestions?
Thanks, Louie

Hi Louie
Did you export them from Photoshop or drag then from your user folder? Sorry I don't use Photoshop so I can't help you with the file transfer from it, but a couple of things come to mind.
1. If you have iPhoto try exporting those file's from Photoshop to iPhoto then export them from iPhoto to the mounted memory sticks folder!
Note: +(With iPhoto if I create a "new album" then drag/move selected photos to it, the files export correctly to the memory stick for use with a picture viewer)+
2. Check in your "user folder / home / pictures" and see if Photoshop saves a modified file similar to iPhoto and try dragging those files to the mounted memory sticks folder.
Note: +(Again this may depend on how and where Photoshop saves files???)+

• Audigy 2 LineIn mute prob

Hello.
Card is Audigy 2 (6., no external dri've, analog connection to speakers)
In mixer I always mute everything but Wave/Midi, since I'm not using these a lot. With fresh Windows installation, and original driver/apps version from support CD this results in perfectly clear sound. But after driver/apps update, I end up with this problem: upon windows start, there could be heard a low level noise (mouse moving, HDD coping...) This noise is quiet, it can't be distinguished on cheap PC speakers, I'm talking about HiFi here.
Problem isn't there during hardware accelerated music play or EAX games. Not even if I pause in Winamp. But upon stopping music/game there isn't complete silence and it pi**** me off!
I solve this problem by re-muting LineIn. It simply isn't muted on windows start wherever slider is (not even if mute icon is activated).
Everything else runs perfectly, so my guess is that it's Mixer bug.
Thx.

You could try this. Remove the sound card from the computer PCI slot and boot up the computer. Let Windows finish loading and register that there's no sound card and then have it shutdown. Slot back the sound card to the same PCI slot and boot the computer.

• Audigy 2 ZS Boot Prob

Hi folks,
i've switched my pc on some days ago and it didn't boot at all. After some testing of parts in other systems i've found the problem: the power supply was damaged! I've bought a new one and everything is running fine except my Audigy 2 ZS card ;( As soon as i put the card into a slot the system does nothing when pressing the power button. If i put the card out, everything boots normal. I've tested every little PCI slot i have - nothing. With card = no boot (neither a fan nor anything else seems to work) / without card - clean boot! I can't believe my card is broken. I love it. It must work...
Anyone in here who has a suggestion what to do here? I've already tested the card in another system: same problem, when pressing power, nothing happens ;( i've searched for broken stuff on the card or something else, nothing, looks like brand new...
Please help me! i don't want to buy me a new one - and my Nvidia Onboard sound sucks like hell... Maybe anyone had the same problems ?

It's likely a faulty card if you're getting the same result with two different system.

Not sure if this would have anything to do with it, but in Speaker Settings, do you have "Synchronize with Control Panel" checked?

• Audigy 2 ZS driver prob

*sigh* Where to start?
A couple of days ago I made the huge mistake of deciding to reformat my hdd's and "start fresh" as my computer had been developing some issues over the past few months. I'll spare you the horrid details of my struggle to get WinXP Home installed.
I get booted up with my fresh install of XP and begin the wonderful task of installing Norton Internet Security, Ad-Aware and then playing the update game for Windows. Once that is all done I decide it's now time to get my hardware drivers up to date. I begin with my Audigy 2ZS Gamer card. In a nutshell what's happening is this: I can install just about every driver package I have (Install CD and downloaded versions) but my sound card just flat won't work. I have zero sound with the exception of my system speaker in the case which only beeps to alert me to errors or during bootup.
When I check the status under Device Manager it shows everything is working perfectly. No conflicts anywhere. I browse through to the actual listing for the sound card itself and the initial screen tells me that my device is working properly. In fact every screen/window I look at tells me that my card is installed and working just fine except for one. In the properties tab (where it shows what device is being used for certain programs such as midi device, mixer, etc.) if I highlight the device under any of the trees and click the properties button I get the following message "Driver is enabled but not functioning properly". Furthermore, when I click on the settings tab in the window that gives me the status I get an error message stating "Cannont load Creative Audigy Audio Processor (WDM) driver. The driver file may be missing. Try installing the driver again, or contact your system administrator".
This is a problem that I have never encountered in my 0+ years of building and maintaining my own systems. I am a total loss of what to do next. I have double, triple and quadruple checked my BIOS settings to ensure that my onboard sound was (and stayed) disabled. I have un-installed and re-installed my card numerous times using 3 different PCI slots. During this Windows never once auto-detected my card. It always attempted to install a Multimedia Sound Device instead of a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 product. To test my card to make sure it wasn't fried I installed it in another computer running WinXP and it auto detected it just fine and began the installation process with no prompting from me at all. I have un-installed and re-installed the drivers from both the install CD and stand alone downloaded drivers using numerous methods (including the ones listed in the "Read this before posting" thread for this forum). An interesting note regarding driver installations. The latest stable (ie Microsoft signed) drivers will not install for me. I get an error message stating "Setup did not detect the set of required components you have. Setup will exit". Yet I have 2 sets of beta drivers that install just fine. Well except for the part where they are enabled but not functioning properly =P.
So now I am stumped. My card worked perfectly in this same exact system just 2 days ago before I decided to reformat. I didn't have any problems installing it when I originaly built the system either. In fact this is the first major problem I've had installing a SB card in any system for quite a few years now. Short of attempting to re-install Windows again (which I highly doubt would work anyways) I am all out of things to try. Anyone have any other suggestions or perhaps even experienced this problem before and might be able to help me out? Oh and before someone suggests it, yes I did keyword search these forums prior to posting and didn't find anything that would help =).
P.S.: It seems that these forum don't want to play nice with me either. Appologies for the horrid formatting of this post. I hope there aren't too many cases of bleeding eyes because of it =).

I have almost the same problem,
I'm going crazy on this, I have a long story of self built computers too...
Audigy 2 ZS "correctly" installed, but drivers details on "mixer", "midi" and all the codecs details are "installed but not working correctly".
I'm going to format and reinstall everything to see if it's due to previous drivers for an "onboard" sound card

• Audigy 2 Zs Causing Probs... Help pls?

Hi all
First of all I love this message
Ok ever since I installed the driver for my Audigy2 ZS sound card I get an error messege regarding nvraidservice.exe (or something like that) upon boot up. I dont think its hindering my rig at all but its rather irritating. Is there a way i can disable that? if so plse let me know how.
Another problem im having is again upon boot up core center will pop up and error message first it says no hardware monitor detected, then it would say corecenter does not support your motherboard. It use to be ok but every since I loaded my audigy 2 zs drivers ive been getting those error messeges when ever i boot up. But the funny thing is after I close down all the error messages, and start corecenter then it works fine.
I dont think any of these errors are hindering my rigs performance but its getting really really annoying.
And my Msi Live update is also no longer working ever since the audigy 2 driver install.
Is there any new drivers that I can download that will fix this because I love my Audigy 2 sound card and don't want to give it up
Thanks
Jason

CoreCenter did not support my motherboard either after I added an Audigy2 ZS to my system. I never got any error about "nvraidservice.exe", but I removed the CoreCenter error by removing MSI Live Update Monitor from the autostart. Havnt had any problems since then. Hope it helps.
And oh, the rig in the signature is my personal fileserver. My gaming-rig is as follows;
"The Ryomou"
Chieftec LCX-01B-B-SL case
Antec TrueBlue 480 watt
AMD Athlon64 3500+

• Audigy 2 ZS Notebook Prob

Windows detect my audigy 2 Sound card but the Creative software doesn't."The audio device supported by the application may not be present or may be operating in an unsupported mode. You need to close the application. " What can i do ? I deactivated the sound card , reinstaled the driver. I have media center 2k5 . Need help . Thank you .

OK, thank you for the information. More than likely something has gone wrong with your Windows registry. Rather than delve into that, I would suggest that you go back into Device Manager, and 'Uninstall' you 'On Board' sound card, and reboot your machine. While the notebook is off, remove the PCMCIA card, and this will force the OS to reinstall the on board sound into Device Manager and hopefully the registry as well. Once this is done, you should see a return of your on board sound card's functions and be able to hear you on board speakers.
Please note, that it may take a secondary boot prior to hearing your on board sound card kick in. Simply 'Uninstall' the on board sound (and have the 'Drivers and Applications' CD/DVD from your notebook at hand... and the OS installation disc too), reboot then when the system logs back on it should reinstall the on board sound. It may ask you for the drivers CD/DVD and the OS CD/DVD during this process. That is why I suggested that you have it there when you start. Once this is complete, you should reboot and when your system comes back up you should have sound in your notebook's speakers.
If not, leave a message. There is one instance, I can think of, where you would successfully reinstall the on board sound (and it's system registry entries) and the sound NOT come from your speakers.

• Audigy ZS Line-In prob

Hi, just a quick problem I need a little help with if possible? I have just basically bought the Audigy ZS Soundcard, here is my problem. I've been hooking up my turntables to my PC via the Line-In port on my Audigy Soundcard to back-up my vinyl. Everything sounds very very good, the sound quality I'm very happy with......except, I've noticed whilst recording, if someone sends me an instant message via MSN, or I open a new folder, the click or MSN sound also gets recorded? This is obviously quite annoying as it means I can't do anything else whilst recording, I'm pretty sure it shouldn't be like this and should only record input coming through the Line-In socket? Please tell me if I'm wrong or how to fix this problem. I was recording earlier, whilst recording I began listening to an Online radio station, then to my horror when I played back my recording, I had my record with radio over the top!!! :-( Any help what-so-ever would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hi Jeremy
The noise I get is a background static.
The TV card I'm using is a WinTV-USB Hauppauge ( I know its not very high quality )
The cable is sheided good ( I used the same cable with my all in wonder pro 9700, but thats in a diff. machine now)
I unplugged the line in cable from the win TV but left it in the sound card and was still getting the static.
I'm going to look for a different cable to see if that works.
Thanks for the Ideas.
Jim
