Audigy 4 feedback prob

I used to have a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz card and I recently switched to an Audigy 4 . (I got the SE version or OEM version - whatever you want to call it) With the old card I would open 2 instances of cool edit and have a file playing in one instance and record it in the other. I had my speaker output running through a compressor then back into the computer in the line in input so I was playing the wave file in one instance and record the line in on the other instance . This always worked fine. With the new card when I do this , if there is no sound coming into the input I get feedback . Once I start to play the wave file it records normally and when the wave ends the feedback starts again. I did notice that with the TB card in play properties I could mute the line in and in record properties I selected line in , but with the Audigy if I mute line in in the play properties it won't record. It's not really a big deal except I get this feedback until I open play properties and mute the line in when I'm done recording. I was wondering if anyone else had this happen or if my card is possibly faulty ? Thanks. I thought I would add I can play and record at the same time without a problem as long as the line in isn't involved . It's only sending the wave out of the computer and back into the line in and recording it from there that I get the feedback.

I beli've you mean this from Steampowerd.

  • Audigy Gamer prob

I have a Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer that I bought quite a while ago. It is retail and installs fine off of the CD (drivers, applications, etc.). Because the drivers on the CD are so old I want to update them. I downloaded the AUD_WEBUP_PCWDRV_-84-40 driver setup program off of Creative's site but it gives me the "Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audigy on your system."
In the device manager there is the Creative Audigy Audio Processor (WDM) and it is enabled and is shown as working properly, which it is. The sound works through the card and everything plays okay but I want to update the drivers and everything for the next generation games and whatnot (though I probably should just upgrade the card, but that is irrelevant).
The web setup program is an .exe file so I cannot just extract it and get the drivers out so I don't really know how to get around this detection problem. Any help would be appreciated.System:AMD Athlon 64 3400+EPoX 8KDA series motherboardBFG GeForce 6800 OC

One of the listed requirements for that file is:
Installation of the Audigy Web Update files released on 9 November 2003.</LI>
The file you need to install first is called AUD_EAX4DRV_0303.exe

  • Audigy 2 prob

Having a strange problem with my soundcard. With eax enabled in several games (Call of Duty, Halo, etc) sound positioning is all wrong. For example if I am shooting a rifle over my shoulder in Call of Duty, the gun sounds like it's really far away. As I move the gun further from me, the sound volume increases as though it's getting closer. In other words, it seems like sound positioning is reversed.
I've gone as far as a fresh XP install, and updated drivers through the creative labs website. No luck in fixing problem. I had the same problem on a separate machine, and a fresh xp install solved the problem.
Any suggestions? This is really annoying!
    Thanks.

  • Audigy SE prob

    Hi!
I just installed my new <span class="text_smallest">Audigy SE soundcard, but I'm having problems with the signal being too loud.
When I have both Wave and Playback at minimum in the sound control centre, the sound is still too loud for any amplifier or speakers to handle.
I've been searching for a solution to this, but with no luck.
Anyone with the same problem, or does anyone know the solution to this, because at the moment, I can't use the soundcard.. :\

Yours is a very odd statement. CL's cards are basically designed to output standard (consumer-equipment) line-level at full volume, which powered speakers and audio gear are designed to accept.
Are you getting loud output when the card isn't doing anything? What happens if you "mute" everything in the mixer except Wave and Playback?

  • Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Prob

I usually don't have major problems with my computer.. I scan reguarly and check for spyware... I keep my computer clean..etc..
Last night I rebooted and got errors...
    one was:
PCI input device could not be found..
    and also
    394 network adapter
    I also had no sound..
I reinstalled (I thought) and got my sound back..with no icon on the task bar..(no diagnostics) come to find out I had not installed and when I tried it would not let me..gave me another error saying..
could not detect sound blaster audigy 2 on this system
Please ensure sound blaster hardware is properly installed before running this setup program
    this setup will now exit..
I do have sound now..but its still not showing I have Sound blaster audigy 2 software or anything of Sound Blaster on my computer..
I have checked device manager and all hardware is working properly..
I have a dell computer with windows xp
any help would be greatly appreciated..
    Dee

    Dee,
If the card came supplied with the PC, then you may need to contact Dell to get specific drivers or applications for it.
Is the card working correctly now? Is it listed in Device Manager, with no error messages? What did you use to reinstall, was it a CD, or a driver? If it was just a basic driver pack, then it's likely that doesn't include any extra applications.

  • Feedback prob

i am currently using a sound blaster xfi card and when i use my microphone, i get terrible feedback. every word i say is automatically played through my computer's speakers. is there any way i can disable the playing of the microphone through my speakers without turning them off?

I've had that problem before. Right after i got my ipod, the loud speaker worked fine, and then out of nowhere it was finicky. I never went to the apple store to fix the problem, i just waited it out. For awhile it chose to work when it wanted to. The dust thing wasn't my issue. It just didn't work.
It works for the most part now. But sometimes the loud speaker turns on by itself, even with the earphones in it, and plays, when the ipod was off, and in the hold position to keep it that way.
If i would try to turn it off it would turn back on. The screen would say the song would be paused to, but it kept playing. It would take a few mintues to get it to turn off.
If i was you, i'd use the warranty to get it looked at if the problem persists.

  • Cubase/Audigy 2 prob: How do I turn on "Record What U Hear" function?

I'm not sure if I phrased that question right but apparently someone is telling me that I need to turn that function on in my Audigy 2 to get my wavetable synths to transfer to WAV files when I export in Cubase.
I looked in the mixer and saw the volume control but is that all I need to do? Is there something else?
    Thanks!

Does this need to be done in this way on Cubase?
You can turn "What U Hear" ON on
    - Creative Surround Mixer --> select .rec source by pressing the icon above the recording level slider
    and on
Windows Record Controls (volume) --> by slecting (check box below level slider) the "What U Hear" -channel
NOTE: When you are using native ASIO or WDM/KS drivers --> recording controls are bypassed (i.e. recording source selection on surround mixer doesn't affect).
You may need to switch the drivermode 1st to something other (WDM, MME, DS, maybe ASIO multimedia) to get WUH working (never tried this by myself). On Windows registry, there is "SB AUDIGY ASIO WUH [xxxx]" driver listed (I assume th WUH means "What U Hear"), but I have not seen it listed in any application I've tried/using.

  • Audigy 2 ZS notebook card ... feedback so

i've purchased the card 2 days ago.
I bought it because i was not really satisfied with the embedded sound card quality.
I use Windows XP media center service pack2 with
    HP Pavilion dv835nr laptop
the Audigy 2 ZS driver version is as supplied on the CD:
    5.2.8.08
i connected the card to my Recei'ver in 2. configuration.
and i use regular analog cable.
I hear feedback sound through the front speakers ... it is not easily heard until the volume is at about 25% on my Recei'ver. When i play music louder i can still heard the background noise.
I tried muting all inputs and outputs. I lowered voulumes and still there is "static noise".
I am sure that my Recei'ver works fine ... i connected my desktop and another laptop with other sound cards and it works fine ... i used the same cables.
When i use headphones the audio is clear.

I think maybe you have your mic recording set on acti've. Go into windows control panel and double click the speaker icon/audio device settings. Click the audio tab on top, and then select volume in the "sound recording" section. Make sure that "Microphone" is not selected.

  • Midi/audio sync prob after sblive to audigy 2zs upgrade

Have posted the following earlier today in Soundblaster forum - then thought it may be better off here.....
Hi all - have just had to quickly buy new soundcard as main line-out on sblive gave up the ghost, after years of no probs. Bought Audigy 2zs, as thought this would not be too much of a shock for ageing AMDk6 450mhz running Win98se. (Am waiting for new pc music system.) Installed Audigy, using 1xm1n's excellent set-up guide, and thought everything was ok. However, when running sequencer, the midi tracks are fine, while the audio slowly goes out of sync. Can anybody explain what's happening? Would not normally panic, and wait for new pc, but have a deadline to finish project for the Barmy Army !!
Seriously thinking of reinstalling sblive, and using the rear line-outs to monitor on - but line-in & mic will then not work. Also was hoping the Audigy ASIO drivers would let me do the final mix in Cubase.
Did I mention the odd crackle & pop....? .....Aaaaaaargh!!
    Regards.

    Jason,
Yes I tried pulling card. What has happened.
. Card was "re-found" by windows for no reason which started the problems.
    2. I deleted driver in control panel, shutdown and pulled card, rebooted again with no card.
    3. Put the card back and rebooted again and at that point it showed as Audigy ZS, although it did not look like all functionality was there as before.
    4. So I installed the new January 06 drivers. Seemed to go okay.
    5. Upon reboot, came up as Creative Audigy Audio Processor" again. However things "worked" for a while. The mixer came up, etc.
    6. Seemed to be working, then stopped working (no sound)....and upon a reboot, was re-found again and was using old generic drivers from 2003. And was no longer called a ZS.
    7. EDIT: Important, in the "sound and audio" devices in control panel, it is listed as an EMU0k (or some such designation) which I understand may mean the card has gone bad.
    8. The network fiber connection also periodically came up as yellow exclamation mark or working based on what was going on above.
It appears that these problems may be symptoms the card is going bad based on some other posts I found? Something about a scrambled EPROM? I do have a new unused Audigy ZS card I can try.
What is the best approach to put in another ZS. Delete the driver, shutdown, pull the card and put the new one in? And of course plug in the breakout box to it. Will it "find" the new January 06 drivers upon install or will I have to re-install those again on this new card. I know it is the same card but I assume the ID will be different.
If I need to re-install the drivers, do I just re-run the install or do I need to run CTZAP etc. first? I already have all the applications loaded off the original CD and would prefer not to have to do all that again...
    Thanks again,
    BJB

  • Midi/audio sync prob after sblive to audigy 2sz upgr

    Regards.

I just purchased the SB Li've 24 Bit USB today. The quality of the device was impressi've but I also was having sync issues. My guess is that the problem is with the limited bandwidth of the . USB connection. To resolve the issue, I installed all the most current critical updates. With one of them came a tool called 'Device Control'. I reduced the sampling quality to 44. KhZ from 44.8 and also reduced the bit depth to 6. Next I disabled monitoring. Additionally, the device I was using for playback during recording I reduced to the lowset possible sampling quality (which was about 22KhZ). I was able to record for 3 minutes at 44.KhZ with no sync issues. I recommend anyone who plans on using this device for recording follow this procedure.
