Audigy 4 (non-Pro) driv

Hi,
Quick question, really. I have tried searching, but I can't seem to find the answer (one way, or another) that I am looking for.
I am running Windows XP, and I have a Creative Audigy 4 (non-pro) sound card. I am using the January 2006 drivers, which Creative have listed on their web site.
But I was really just wondering if there were any other drivers for this card that I am unware of and that I could try?
I am thinking of more recent beta drivers, popular modded drivers, or other Audigy (, 2, etc) drivers that people have used with their Audigy 4.
If not, have Creative publically stated that they plan to release a new driver set for the Audigy 4?
Appreciate any help on this one,
Jon

I think you should try some modded driver. It will provide better sound. Try these following links and find out which driver will give your favorite sound. But remember to back up your system (system restore is a good choice before doing so)

do audigy 4 and audigy 4 pro drivers differ? the newest pro is only beta and a few months older than the "non pro". also, despite having bought a 4 pro, it never says so, neither in the system or when using autoupdate (installed products: Sound Blaster Audigy 4, DR release 2.5.0), auto update does not tell me to download the non pro driver though. I'd be glad if someone could tell me which driver to use

You find the latest drivers (fits for X-FI & Audigy 2 & 4 serie) from station-drivers.
These drivers are even WHQL (eg. passed MS quality test).

  • Audigy 4 Pro Driver Annoya

    Hi,
I am currently experiencing issues with my Audigy 4 Pro drivers whilst trying to use SPDIF pass-through to my external decoder (and surround setup).
I am running the latest beta drivers available through the website and until I installed these drivers, pass-through worked fine. Now however, my decoder is unable to recognise a digital signal from the soundcard.
I am loathe to backpedal and install the old driver again because as well as a film enthusiast I am also a gamer and need the OpenAL support that the beta driver provides. In addition to that my PC used to suffer intolerably long shutdown periods using the original driver supplied on the CD.
Can you tell me if this is a known issue, and if so will a stable release of the driver ever be made available? I find the issue extremely annoying as this was an expensi've bit of kit and I have previously owned both an Audigy and an Audigy 2 without having had any problems.
    Many thanks,
    Pete

You obviously have not read my last post properly. If I go back to the old driver then I suffer horribly long Windows shut down periods again and also lose OpenAL support for games. It is definitely the Creative driver which causes this.
Very dissapointed with creative on this one.Message Edited by pshuttle on -28-2005 05:29 PM

  • Audigy 4 Pro driver and MediaSource iss

Just bought an Audigy 4 Pro card after getting seriously fed up with my old SBLi've 5. card, however I've got quite a few issues with it.
I'm waiting on a response from Creative Support but figured I might check if anyone here can help.
The bundled software with my card was the Audigy 2 ZS CD, and when I tried to install the drivers from that one it said it couldn't find an Audify 2 ZS card on my system and promptly quit.
I tried a few ways to get around it but no luck, so eventually I downloaded the Audify 4 beta drivers (SBA4_BETADRV_US_2_05_0000.exe)from the Creative site.
Those drivers installed and now my system show an Audigy 4 card installed with the following drivers: 5.2.3.00
After installing the MediaSource from the Audigy 2 ZS CD I did not get any EAX control panel, Creative Mixer or Speaker setting though, so basically I'm stuck with nothing but my two front speakers making any sound at all.
    Creative MediaSource version: 2.02.06
If anyone has a suggestion on how to solve this I'd be extremely grateful, because the current situation is quite annoying.

The EAX Console, Speaker Settings and Mixer all came in the product CD. You must install them from the CD.

  • Installing x64 Audigy 4 Pro Driv

    Hi
Just wondering if anyones managed to install the Audigy 4 x64 drivers? I've got the beta 2 release of Vista but I just get the error that the install has timed out. Anyone got any help?

    Thanks
Just got it working, for those who need help, run the installer, but dont touch it, instead, go to the temp folder and copy out the installers files to somewhere else. Then go to that folder and go to Support -> amd64 then run ctzapxx and chose "overwrite existing shared creative audio drivers" then click ok, worked for me )

  • Audigy 4 non-pro, multimedia probl

    Hi there,
Got the Audigy 4 non-pro card, and I'm sticking with it for a long time... but it does have a few problems, I was hoping some of you may have the same problems and could help me. The first one may not be a problem with the card itself.
The thing is, I have a certain DVD-title that has Linear PCM Stereo and DTS-Digital 5. Surround soundtracks. The stereo works fine (let's say in Windows Media Player), but when I switch to DTS (hoping for a surround experience), there is no sound! I am able to have surround sound with most DVDs, although it's usually Dolby Surround. Do I need special software to play DTS soundtracks? I know that PowerDVD (or whatever its' name) has to be upgraded for DTS, but the Windows Media PLayer does have a DTS logo thing, when I play it, but there is no sound!
The other problem seems to be more serious.
When I work with MIDI, or play MIDI files, there's a strange lock-up of the system, although on an irregular basis. Sometimes, suddenly, instantaneously, everything stops, and there is a sustained and quiet MIDI sounds, as though the last notes are held, and the system is in a state of complete lock-up. Does anyone have a problem with taht? Or a solution, even better!
    Cheers.

I think you should try some modded driver. It will provide better sound. Try these following links and find out which driver will give your favorite sound. But remember to back up your system (system restore is a good choice before doing so)

  • What happened to the Audigy 4 (non-pro) drivers on the websi

I swore a week or so there were seperate drivers for the new Audigy 4 (non-pro) on Creative's site. Now only the Audigy 4 Pro is shown under the download options. What happened? I was going to just use the online drivers with the audio console for an easy install and to ensure I have the lastest drivers.

Try download them MANUALLY. They're 5.2..6-2.08.00.000.

  • Enquiry about audigy 4 [NON-PRO] & audigy 2

Hi, I would like to make an enquiry about a few creative products.
I am currently intrested in getting a T7900 speaker system.
However i have doubts on the soundcard that i should get.
Could anyone identify the difference with a Audigy 4 [NON-Pro] and a Audigy 2 ZS.
I couldn't find any through comparison on these 2 products in the whole creative website.
And also, is the T7900 7. speaker system compatible with either of the 2 audigy sound cards.
Which card would you recommand me to go for too.
Thanks in advance. =)Message Edited by kutysam on 02-8-200603:48 AM

Well im feeling lazy ATM so I have no technical data to pass on. I would say thought the differents are :
: Price,, hmm get which is cheaper
2: The Audigy 4 would have ( at a guess anyway?)?more settings/tools and banks for media creation and the like.
Other than that, not a great deal between them. As far as games go, they both do the very same thing and with DVD movies they would produce the same rates as with music.
Id say, get the ZS if your into games and DVDs+music, or get the A 4 for the same reasons + Media creation/mixing and stuff like that.
Like I said, to lazy to research it further but close enough

  • SoundBlaster Audigy ZS Pro ASIO DRIVER Questions w/ Cubase

    <SPAN>
<SPAN>I am using Cubase SX 2.2 and the SoundBlaster Audigy ZS Pro. I need to gain a better understanding of the differences between the three Creative ASIO drivers that Cubase SX 2.2 recognizes. They are as follows:
    <SPAN>
<SPAN>Creative ASIO - [Cubase sets default sample rate at 48KHz ]</LI>
<SPAN>SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO 24/96 (B800) [ Cubase sets default sample rate at 96KHz]</LI>
<SPAN>SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO [Cubase sets default sample rate at 48KHz ]</LI>
<SPAN>I can understand that the 24/96 ASIO driver supports 24 [email]bit@96KHz]bit@96KHz[/url] recording. I am not sure what the differences are between Creative ASIO & SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO. I have read other related post on this subject and it was stated that the Creative ASIO is the older 6 bit ASIO driver, but I noticed something interesting in relation to the input devices that Cubase SX 2.2 sees between the three are quite different, but it's opposite of what you might imagine.
    <SPAN>Here are the details:
<SPAN>For Both Creative ASIO & SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO, Cubase SX2.2 lists the following inputs:
    <SPAN>Line in / MIC L & R, Line in 2 L & R, Line in 3 L & R, SPDIF IN L & R
<SPAN>and then the strange...MIX L & R, MIX FL & FR, MIX RL & RR, MIX FC, MIX LFE (?), MIX RC ( twice), MIX SL & SR
    <SPAN>No OPTICAL?
<SPAN>For the SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO 24/96, Cubase SX2.2 lists the following inputs:
    <SPAN>Line in / MIC L & R, Line in 2 L & R, Line in 3 L & R
    <SPAN>No SPDIF or OPTICAL?
<SPAN>I assume the MIX inputs are for the Dolby Digital Bus Mixers in Cubase to be able to send outputs directly to the Surround Channels?
<SPAN>I set the Latency all the way down to 2ms for each driver. Currently I am achieving a Input of 3.042ms & Output of 2.00ms w/ the 24/96KHz & w/ the other two I am achieving a Input of 4.083ms & Output of 2.00ms. Not sure why the difference?
<SPAN>I'd really like to gain an understanding or be directed to some documentation (Audigy Manuals lack in this detail) to help explain these differences and understand why the 24/96 driver wouldn't list the same inputs if it's the same card. Is this just a bug? Any updates to fix?
<SPAN> Sorry for the long post, but I felt if I should this detail I may get some good insight to from yall experts out there.

    Thank you.
As it's an OEM product you have there, you probably need to modify the installer meant for original CT products. I have posted some instructions long ago so if you search here by using "ctcomp.exe" as a searching criteria you might find that thread. You also need drivers from older installer since CT made some changes to the installer so that the old ctcomp won't work with the latest driver installation. IIRC, there were a fix-up for this too available but I'm not sure where it was introduced ... was it @ DHF (link given below)?
You can download the CD as an ISO image from BadBoys site (http://badboy.filefront.com/).
IIRC, there were some other instructions for this @ Driver Heaven Forums and also you might already heard of YouPAX driver mod ... which can be found @ Driver Heaven too.

  • Audigy 4 Pro + new driv

I just recently reinstalled Windows, and updated to the latest drivers after a week or so. during that week (and before the reinstall) the card worked flawlessly. Now, after a few minutes from boot, it begins to squeal. Where normal sounds would play, (clicks in my browser, games, movies) different pitch squeals play on top of the constant squealing. Music and Wav files, however, play fine--with the squealing still behind it.
    Creative Diagnostics comes up clean.
Ive tried any solution Ive seen online here, reinstalling, etc.
    Oddities Ive noticed:
The CTHELPER.exe and DLLML.exe processes seem to have crashed and resist being killed.
CTHELPER was disabled from starting with Windows.
    System:
    Dual Opteron 240 workstation
    2 GB RAM
    Tyan K8WE motherboard
Windows Server 2003 SP - Windows XP drivers should be fully compatible
Audigy 4 PRO - only drivers installed/drivers & basic Creative utilities
    Any help would be appreciated.

    You meant ASIO, didn't you.
ASIO driver becomes installed automatically when you install drivers for your card. You select the driver mode in Audition Audio preferences from a droplist. You should see least three Creative/SB ASIO drivers listed there ... one for 24/96 and two for 6/48 "resolutions". If you can't see these drivers listed there then just reinstall (the latest) drivers from Creative Support/Downloads.
NOTE: Adobe added ASIO support in Audition from v. 2.0 so, if you have the v. .5 there ...

  • Audigy 4 ASIO driver inquiry

    Hi,
After reading thru several posts in different forums, I still have one question:
What (the heck) is the purpose of the "SB Audigy 4 24/96" ASIO driver mode? I can't record anything when I select that, in Logic 5 for Windows. With the normal driver "SB Audigy 4 ASIO", it's fine. The card has a good sound, and nice software, but this doesn't work... I also find that more often than not, the reply to these types of messages is something like "get another soundcard". Well, no thanks! The non-pro Audigy 4 is actually the single most expensive piece of hardware inside my PC (except the processor maybe?).
What's more, the on-line documentation states that the card has ASIO2 support for 24-bit/96kHz recording, the feature that I want to use, but how?

I don't know about Logic, but i had that issue with cubase sx and my audigy 2zs (i guess they are similar cards). When i choose Asio 24/96 it mutes the Line-in in creative mixer, so there is no sound incoming to cubase.
    Solution for me:
    - open cubase and select asio 24/96;
    - with cubase still opened go to creative mixer and unmute Line-in (check also if you have Analog Mix as the recording source);
    - set the Line-in level in creative mixer to the amount i want (usually 0db);
    - then return to cubase and activate Analog Mix in the "Vst input" menu;
    - add an audio track, arm it to record, check the input source (it must be Analog Mix), activate monitoring and hit record.
Now i'm recording with asio 24/96 and monitoring all the effects i want in that track.
Note: When you choose asio 24/96 your card inputs will be reduced. With my audigy 2zs i'll have only 3 input sources and the only one that's used to record with asio 24/96 is Analog Mix (Line in).
    Hope this will help you.

  • Audigy 4 Pro - I/O Hub does not get any po

    Hello all,
I purchased an Audigy 4 Pro a few days ago and I cannot get the external hub to power on.
This somewhat sumarizes what I tried so far:
. Uninstalled all drivers and software of my old Soundblaster Li've 5. Platinum
    2. Also removed all entries of the old soundcard from Device Manager
    3. Powered down the PC fully, took out the Li've 5. and powered it back on and logged on to my Windows XP (SP2).
    4. Just to be sure before installing the drivers for the Audigy 4 Pro I cleaned out the cookies, temporary internet files, all other Temp folders, the Prefetch folder and also ran a program to clean the registry.
    5. De-activated my Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition's Real-time protection, it's services and also my ZoneAlarm Pro from starting up the next time I reboot Windows.
    6. Powered down the PC again, took the power cable out, made sure there was no power whatsoever left and carefull inserted the Audigy 4 Pro card in an empty PCI slot.
    7. Connected the larger AD_Link to the card, then to the hub
    8. Connected the smaller AD_Link to the card, then to the hub
    9. Finally connected the power convertor cable to a free systems power unit
    0. Double-checked the entire hardware setup a few times and power the PC back on
. Windows XP detected and installed the OHCI Compliant IEEE 394 Host Controller and the 394 Net Adapter
    2. Canceled to proceed looking for a driver when it found the Audigy 4 Pro card
    3. Installed the drivers and applications that came with the Audigy 4 Pro. Everything went smooth - no error messages during the installation.
    4. Rebooted PC after prompting to do so.
    5. With ZoneAlarm and my Norton Antivirus de-activated, all drivers and programs installed properly the external I/O hub does NOT get any power. I also made sure to check this with the remote control.
I have ofcourse no sound coming out that hub when plugging in my headphone and also cannot use my microphone.
    6. I ran the Diagnostics program that was installed automatically with the other Creative applications: It claims there aren't any problems.
    7. Powered down the PC again, checked all connectors, powered the PC up again: Same problem... no power.
    8. Installed the latest 4-in- drivers found on viaarena.com: Same problem
    9. Uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and applications: Same problem
    20. Uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and applications after taking out all other PCI cards and placing the Audigy 4 Pro card into an other PCI slot: Same problem
    2. Set my BIOS to factory defaults: Same problem
    22. Formatted the PC and reinstalled Windows XP (SP) with every update thinkable... Same problem
    23. Formatted the PC AGAIN ( ! ) and reinstalled Windows (SP2) with updates .... Same problem
Another problem: Sent a detailed e-mail to Creative Support Europe.... Still NO respons after 48+ hours.
Anyone else should have a solution I would appreciate trying out, or if all fails I'll go for a Terratec model.
    Thanks in advance!

Amazing, I got mine about 3 days ago and have been pulling my hair out trying to resolve the same problem. I have checked power connections, reinstalled drivers. I think something is wrong with the box. I tried to call support yesterday, which was a Saturday, but they aren't available til Monday. I guess I will call them Monday. Let me know if you find anything out in the mean time.
    Thanks

  • Audigy 4 Pro Low Recording Levels/Master Knob/OSD probl

I purchased a second-hand Audigy 4 Pro. I was not given the software disk but managed to install the latest drivers and get it to play MP3s. I use Adobe Audition to record my old tapes to MP3 and record my attempts at guitar. With my SBLi've I had no problem. I bought the Pro because of the ease of using the breakout box. However I have some quesions about some problems I am having. ) Since I have no Creative software, just Win XP Mixer I don't seem to be able to control the input levels from either the mixer or the box. I have a tape deck using RCA to Line In 3 and an electric and acoustic guitar to Line In 2. The mixer record levels seem to have no effect. I can record but nothing seems to be much more than -20db or so at most. Could this be because Adobe Audition only shows Line In 3 L (ie one channel only)? Could this be because of the much greater dynamic range of the Audigy 4 compared to the SBLi've Value? Do I need additional Creative software and if so what and how to get it please?2) The Master knob on the breakout box just spins round and round without sto
    ps.
In other words you can rotate it in either direction ad infinitum. Is this correct? Pushing it in and out does cause the mute to work fine. 3) The help file talks about an On Screen Display associated with the remote. I don't have one when I use the remote, even when I press the Display button. Again, do I need Creative software for the remote? I have a yellow question mark against Multimedia Audio Control in my device list. ThanksMessage Edited by Dunkelmann on 2-23-200607:22 PM

Wow these forums still suck. You have easy questions and no one bothered to help you out. I registered jsut to answer them for you although you probably already figured it all out. . It seems that loudness is optomized by creatives own drivers. What you described was also true back when you could use the e-mu driver hacks before creative bought e-mu. 2. The master knob indeed spins for infinity, obviously with no effect once you get to either end. This sucks becasue i have OCD and constanly spin this thing all kinds of ways. THey should have used the same system as the line-/mic knob. Only God and the engineer will ever know why they did this. 3 Yes. The on screen display is pat of the creative media player app.
So to solve all your problems, you can get the full software package from creative.com under the support menu. Just follow the menu options for your device. The software requires that you have the hardware which you do so the software is free. One more problem you WILL have. The software doesnt install under XP. You have to enter windows safe mode and install it from there otherwise the whole thing freezes up during the start of the install process. Fun times!

  • Audigy 4 pro vs. cubase sx sample rate - fight to the de

helloI recently bought an audigy 4 pro soundcard, heard it was probably the best for home recording etc.
I have encountered some problems... I have a load of backing tracks stored in cubase sx 2.2, but now when i open them up it shows the message "sample rate could not be set. This may be due to the sample clock being set to external sync."The files now run at 48kHz instead of 44.kHz, making them jittery, out of time, or chipmonk like. I've read through various messages around similar problems, i've tried everything & nothing has worked...in cubase - project/project set up/sample rate = 48kHz and can not be changed.
in cubase - device set up/vst multitrack/asio driver = creative asio + clock source = internalit only offers 5 asio drivers, asio direct x full duplex, asio mulitmedia, creative asio, SB audigy4 asio 24/96 [a400] and SB audigy4asio [a400] i do not get the offer of asio4all.While i have also tried going through the control panel...controlpanel/audio control panel/device settings/digital out samplerate and setting it to 44.kHz this doesn't seem to change anything. I have no problem with recording new songs at a higher sample rate, but has audigy 4 pro rendered all my old songs useless?please help!!!!!!!!

If you RTFM, you'll find out, Audigy 4 is locked into 6-bit/48kHz and 24-bit/96kHz resolutions when ASIO driver is in use.
I suppose, you still can (if not saved @ 48kHz) load your projects into SX @ 44. kHz, by selecting MME drivers instead of any ASIO.
Perhaps installing Asio4All gets it popped into that list you have there.
There are also tools to convert from 48-->44., but the source has to be as wave format.
Here is one freeware SRC tool @ http://www.voxengo.com/product/r8brain/.
