Audigy 4 Pro Optical In Probl

Hey everyone,
I've had an Audigy 4 Pro for about a year now and it's an amazing piece of hardware, but I seem to be having some kind of problem.
I recently had an HD cable box put in my room and I want to connect the optical out port on the cable box to the optical in port on the Audigy 4 I/O box. I made the connections and the optical cable is lit and sending a signal, but I'm not getting any sound out of my speakers. I went into the volume mixer and turned on "S/PDIF-In"?and still nothing. Are there any other settings I need to check? I checked some of the other inputs on the I/O box and they seem to work so I don't understand why this one won't. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

What seems to be a problem is the I/O box is powered on, but not connecting to the card. The power light is on, but the volume knob isn't doing anything and the extra inputs aren't recognized. I didn't touch any of the cables, and they're all secure so I have no idea what's going on.

Hello, I recently purchase a audigy 4 pro, My current setup is 3 wires(green, black, orange) going from my Logitech X-530 5. speakers to the audigy 4 sound card, from there, the AD_Link and Ad_Link2(firewire) going to the Audigy's External I/O, now when i Plug in any toslink cable from the *Optical In* port to my game system(xbox, xbox 360, dvd player, ps2), there is no sound. but when i use the standard A/v cable(red/white) and plug it into the back of the external I/O(Line IN 3), the sound works. Everything else also seems to be working fine. any idea what could be the problem? also note, that i'm kinda new at this, so sorry if i dont fully understand your reply.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platnum Pro Multitrack recording probl

I hope I am in the right forum. This one looks pretty close.
I have the Audigy 2ZS Platnum Pro in a brand new Compaq Prisario w/AMD (64) CPU running Windows XP w/52 megs of RAM. I bought this card new a couple of years ago and got frustrated trying to learn to multitrack with it. I recently installed the card in the above mentioned computer and went back to trying to learn to use this device. When setting the driver in Cubasis VST 4.0 I used the driver that came with my Audigy card like the instructions say to do but it caused my "sample rate" to be set to 9600khz. The instructions say to run at 44.khz to avoid problems but that is not an option with the Audigy driver. I tried several different recordings before I tried a full song. Things were going fairly well till I used the Audigy Pro driver, I started recording and my computer went wako on me then reset to the command prompt and began rebooting but it was like it was in some strange loop or something. It was hard to get it turned off and then reboot the computer. This happened a couple of times. I quit trying to use the Audigy driver and and tried all the other drivers listed in the audio setup program. I actually got a nice recording with my midi piano and a vocal track somewhere in all that crap. I ran into problems when mixing down though. All that came out was the vocal. Like the midi tract wasn't even there. I followed the tutorial word for word but things just didn't work out. I'm still trying to figure that oue out. Since the mix down went wrong I am having what I think is called "fall out". When I record my piano (midi) the play back sounds like I was playing irratic. Like I had hicups or something. And that is before even adding any other instruments. I tried all I know to do with my limited knowledge of recording software and ended up doing a "recovery" of the oporating sustem in hope of setting whatever went wrong back to factory settings. That didn't help. I upgraded from the factory 52 megs ram to gig, that hasn't helped. I am starting to loose my temper and that is not a good thing. Too much expensice stuff in my room. If someone can please help I will be forever in your debt. Lastly I already did the setting the processor to "back ground processing". Thank you. Jeff

I think, it's best if you use Creative bundled ASIO drivers @ 6-bit/48kHz 'resolution' (even your card perhaps supports 24-bit/96kHz w/ ASIO -> is the Cubases capable for this).
Depending on your CPU performance, you should keep the ASIO I/O latency setting under 0ms when recording/monitoring.
Also, remember set your 'project' to same resolution the driver is set to.
When you're recording external sources (through line/mic/etc. ports), use AnalogMix/Line-In n for line source(s) and microphone for microphone recordings (recording/input source selection).
You mentioned reading some tutorial .. was it the same bundled w/ Audigy? If not then, check this thread for more information -
    http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=profaudio&message.id=726
BTW, have you tried w/ other recording software (like demos for sonar, li've, etc.)?

    >Learn the M audio!!!! <
    I KNEW IT!!! LOL!
I just KNEW someone was going to say that. Yeah, $400 and a year later it is sitting in a drawer. I don't have the time. The "manual" is even worse than Creative's "user guide". It is assumed if you spend $400 you have a clue. I'm a Guitarist! Not a keyboard player. We walk into the studio, plug in, play our parts, get paid, then go out for pizza.
It took me long enough to figure out Acid, Waves plug-ins and T-Racks before I finally had some quality production values. I can't speed another year learning M-Audio's firewire "controls".
Come on. Someone must know what is up with the "value".
Do I need to reinstall the drivers? What?

  • HT202730 Macbook Pro Optical Audio Output Toggles On/Off

My Macbook Pro optical audio output seems to switch off with a loud click when sound is not playing for a few seconds.
Then, when sound resumes, there's a delay as it switches back on.
Is there a way to stop this toggling?
And please don't tell me to check the connections.
I've already tried different sample sizes and bit rates to no avail. It seems as if the system is switching something when there is no audio being played, then switching it on again. Even if the playback is only on pause.

  • Help -- Getting my Audigy Pro 4 RM-1500 working in windows 7 X64

@Help -- Getting my Audigy Pro 4 RM-500 working in windows 7 X64. To anyone who can help
?I used the latest version of daniel_k's most excellent drivers to install?my Audigy Pro 4 ?(with external box) on a Windows 7 X64 operating system and all the audio devices I have tested so far have worked great.
However, I can't seem to get the rm-500 remote working. I have installed the lasted (0/30) version of mediasouce5;? and the drivers for my remote do not seem to be included.
The closest I can come is the beta version of the vista entertainment center which does install a remote control settings configuator. However, it doesn't seem to recognice the Audigy Pro 4's version of the rm-500, even though it is listed as an option. I get a "can't find an ir device" error.
Any suggestions for me as to how I can get it working, if it all?
    Much Thanks!
    Jackalope

D When I was beta testing Windows 7, I had the same problem with my remote for X-Fi Platinum Fatalty Champion. I discovered a program called Intelliremote (just Google it) that worked great. It works with Creative remotes. I found for some reason the beta driver of entertainment center, in compatibility mode, works with the final version of Win 7. I hope this hel

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro + Optical Input = No So

I have the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro along with a Klipsch Promedia 5. system and an Xbox 360.
I would like to connect my Xbox 360 into my OPTICAL IN port on the external hub from the sound card. However when I do connect it, I get absolutely no sound at all. I've tried messing with different settings, and even reverting everything to defaults and I can't get it working. I have the Xbox set to send sound through the optical port, so that's not the problem
I've read about this problem on a few forums and no one seems to know how to make it work.
If one of you tech support guys could PLEASE help me out with any suggestions I would appreciate it so much.
    Thanks,
    Jason

I have EXACTLY the same proble. There is not only no signal in, I cant hear anything monitored at all when using Cubase or in fact any other sound application. The only sound I can hear is when I plug my speakers/headphones straight into the back of the sound card. I checked my 'Digital Output Only' setting as previously suggested (it wasn't checked) - still no joy.
    Somebody please help....

  • Audigy 2 NX with "optical-in" proble

    Who can help me ?
I have two new soundblaster audigy 2 nx. bothe seem to work not correctly.
Bothe audigy 2 nx have the same Problem: if i connect my digital sat-reciever or minidisc-recorder(optical-out) with the "optical-in" from the audigy 2 nx, ...i have no sound (side/phones, optical -out, spdif-out, rear, front, c/sub from the audigy 2 nx).
In "Rec" there you can read "what u hear", ...somtimes i go to "SPDIF-IN) ! but without success !The sound from my sat-reciever I can switch to AC-3 dolby digital sound or to normal stereo sound in my sat-reciever-menu. But only success for my audigy 2 nx ! but both audigy 2 nx - "the optical-out, rear, front, c/sub, side/phones and spdif-out" work correctly, if i connect a micro to "micro-in" or another analog audio-device to "line-in" ! In the software "creative surround mixer" all sources are open (without red cross).

i have the same problem. can anybody help me with this problem: I can't record music from my minidisc player, throught the optical cable (spdif), throught my new audigy 2 nx, to my new laptop (windows xp). everything should be set up the right way, but my laptop doesn't receive any signal, while i do hear the music coming out of my headphone, that's plugged in on the audigy.

  • Audigy 2 Platinum Optical Out Probl

And interesting problem has started to happen to me. My optical out now randomly (or so it would seem) turns itself on and off again. Music playing, not playing... It seems completely random. Has anyone else had this problem? Any help would be appreciated!?Thanks!Brian

Go through the sound options in windows control panel. ensure your card is listed in ALL aval setup menus.
You may also want to tick the box that states "use only default device" which would be your card,?under sound and audio properties as your sound may be reverting back to Windows default sound driver.
see how ya go with anyway

  • Audigy 1 external bay : proble

    Hi,
I recently bought a Creative Audigy Platinum eX with external dri've, but I can't figure how to make it work..
The sound card installs and runs fine, but nothing from the external dri've.
The optical output light is on, so the dri've has power, but nothing more...
I tried to de-install / reinstall drivers only, entire software suite (found on this forum), tried modded and updated drivers, but nothing works.
So.. did I miss something ? Is there something more i could test (like changing PCI slot ?) ?
I bought it to play guitar, so i really need a solution...
Thank you all for your future help
Edit : I forgot to mention : I'm using WinXP pro SP2, and everything is running fine...

But the power supply doesn't make the noise if it's plugged into the wall but not plugged into the external sound card? Can you test the output of the power supply with a multimeter?

Yes it does make noise, it doesn't even power up, so the computer can't even recognise the device.

  • Audigy 2 Platinum sync probl

Hello. I have had an Audigy 2 Platinum for over a year now and use it as a decoder for our pioneer stand alone dvd player.Speakers are Megaworks 550. The problem is the audio lags behind the video after an hour or so into the movie. The souncard is in its own irq 8 with no conflicts. The latest drivers and software are installed and the same with xp pro service pack 4.Any idea how to resolve this for the only fix now is to stop and restart the player or toggle between spdif ac3 decode and default i audio hq. Im getting fed up with this and will just get a regular reciever and speakers if it cannot be resolved . Thanks in advance.
    Bug

I came here looking for this exact problem. However mine is NEVER in sync when I use the SPDIF mode. As soon as I turn it to normal stereo it works fine. In a related issue, the sound playback of any DVD is about half of everything else on my system. I have to turn up the volume to about 80% to hear a DVD at a listenable level whereas normal volume for me is at 40%.
My stats are as follows: P4 3.2c, Abit IC7-G, 2GB DDR PC3200, Audigy 2 ZS Platinum, BFG 6800GT OC, XP Home SP2, and the Nvidia DVD Decoder. Everything is running the latest drivers. The volume problem has been happening ever since I purchased this ZS. I never had the problem with my older Audigy 2. The SPDIF issue is new to me since I have only recently been using it. Any ideas?

  • Audigy 4 external hub probl

Hi, my audigy 4 pro external hub has stopped working completely. The power light doesn't turn on. I have reinstalled the drivers several times, and I get an error message, something about an NT failed or invalid handler I think? Will the external hub power light come on as soon as the computer turns on, or after windows loads? That way I can determine whether it's a hardware or software problem. Also, there is no power plug anywhere on the I/O hub, so it is powered by the audigy 4 card correct? I found a creative power cord next to the hub, but I think it's for an old MP3 player that has long since died; I can't find anywhere to plug it into anyway. Please help?Thanks,-UnSaniTiZ

Well having spoken to Technical support for about an hour, they told me it could because my onboard sound card hadnt been disabled. Well I've disabled that and uninstalled its drivers. Then I did a clean install of the audigy4. Still the same problem. For some reason, the headphone volume slider in the surround mixer is greyed out and the isnt any headphone tab in the Audio console. Having been told that this is Creatives best product and "it cant have anything wrong with it", I am beggining to wonder just what is going on? I've completly disabled my old onboard sound, done a clean install and still the headphones/volume/remote etc arent working. Is there anything else I can try?
