Audigy 4 speaker advice ple

I have just brought a Audigy 4 card and while I am satisfied with it'sperformance I have an issue with my current speakers.
I have at the moment the creative DTT2500 cambridge soundworks. Theseare great quailty speakers but they only have 2 analog inputs beingthe front and the rear. So there are only 4 speakers available forgames. So i have no centre speaker for EAX (I have the center speakeron a separate amp at the moment ).
I accept there is nothing I can do about this and that I need to getsome 5. speakers that cater for all the inputs necessary for full 5.gaming. So my question is what speakers should I go for?
I don't need them to have dolbly decoding or even digital input but Ido want the speakers to be of the same quality and output as theDTT2500.
Any ideas?

I don't know but, as for an example, I have Audigy 2 (SB0244) here, and I noticed one day while converting wave files to mp3s, that the channels were swapped when using the Fraunhofer Pro codec and not swapped w/ lame 3.96 --> next day, when I started to examine this issue bit deeper, there were no swapping at all w/ any codec (compared the mp3s w/ swapped channels to new ones and originals in PC as a wav and on HiFi system).
Who knows what's going on w/ those drievers (I'm using the latest driver set) / system.

Need help! Audigy 2 ZS Plea

Hi y'all
I have hooked up this Audigy 2 ZS to XP SP2. Looks like it is working fine with 2 speakers (cheap ones from Dell).
I bought the card from NewEgg and have only 20 days left to return if something on it doesn't work.
I need to test spdif digital output, but I am short on cash to buy good digital speaker set now.
I have a home surround sound system with optical digital input. I also have an optical to Coax converter I bought back then from Radio Shack, and it works fine with my digital cable converter (converter has only Coax spdif).
Home system I have has built-in Dolby Digital & DTS decoder.
I need some way to use this system to test Audigy's digital output fast. Just anyway to see if it works or not. What do I need to do?
I have already done anything I can think of. Settings (i.e. digital out, pass-thru, etc.) are correct.
Used a mono to RCA short cable adapter & a long 28 foot RCA cable and connected to Optical to Coax converter but no sound come out from the speakers.
I am only playing saved MP3's from the PC.
No other cable is connected to sound card other than mono to RCA adapter.

. Check in THX Console the sampling rate of the Digital Output. Set it to 48kHz, not 96kHz, because not all receivers support that.
2. Be aware, that you can only get stereo sound from the digital output when playing anything else than DVD movies.
3. For DVD Movies, you need to set SPDIF passthorugh for ALL AC3 decoders you have installed in your system. Otherwise the second in order will handle the decoding and no digital output will take place (or at least, it will only be in stereo).
4. If you don't have a DVD to test Dolby Digital multi-channel playback, try some of these samples. (DTS should also work the same way).

Speaker advice needed

I used to have the HK soundsticks on my G4. Since getting a new iMac they've gone over to that. I now want to get some sound back on the G4 and don't know which way to go. I'm not very 'techie' and need some advice.
I know my G4 will accept Apple Pro Speakers. Have seen some on eBay and am wondering whether to get them, but am also wondering if they are a bit limited, ie won't do for anything else if the G4 bites the dust. I know I can use the other port to plug speakers into but I also have an unused Griffin iMic and think I can use this to plug speakers into? Would there be any advantage to using the iMic, as I already have it?
I don't need any amazing sound quality as this computer is now used mainly by my 6 year old. And I dont want anything big as space is limited. Have had a quick look at some other speakers online and to be honest they all look very ugly and also I don't know if they would be compatible.
If anyone has a bit of advice for me I'd be most grateful. Regards

The iMic will allow you to connect speakers to a machine through it. This would be convenient in the case of using speakers like the Apple Pro speakers on a machine without a audio out jack.
If a machine has an audio out jack, there is no advantage to the iMic.
I know how you feel- I use the HK Sound sticks, and all others pale in comparison, or cost even more.
I put a pair of Logitech speakers on a Gigabit Ethernet that my kids use. Adequate and inexpensive, not audiophile, but the games and music sound better than the built-in speaker by far.

Sending away my zen micro! :( advice plea

my zen micro freezes when i attach it to the computer via the usb cord, and the computer doesn't recognise that it is attached (ie i cant use zen micro explorer and so i can't put on any more music). the ZM freezes like it was before, so no 'docked' sign appears or anything like that. i've had it since january and since then have been able to put loads of music on, so i dont understand why it has suddenly started happening. any advice? i have emailed creative support but they said that the only thing to do is to sned for a replacement, which i really don't want to do!

I doubt it's corrupted files. Check here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net for advice on connection issues, and try to do as much of the troubleshooting as you can.

Having troubleworking out which would be a good site to start downloading MP3 music tracks, it appears that some you pay a one off fee upfront, some its pay as you go, some a monthly fee?!! I cannot afford a lot of money, any advice on which is a good download site that does not cost a fortune, would be fantastic.Many Thanks

i recently purchased a soundblaster audigy 2 nf (external)
i dont have 5. or 7. speakers just using a normal headset and i was wondering if anyone could tell me what the best settings would be for me to use like should i have cmss enabled when listing to music and what eax audio effect would be the best for me to use and im not to sure if i should have audio clean up on.

YouView DTRT1000 box keeps locking up - advice ple...

Hi,
We've had a BT DTRT1000 YouView box for over a year now. In that time i can only recollect one maybe two occasions when it has locked up and needed to be powered off. We have BT infitinity2 and a good strong TV signal which probably helps.
In the last 3 days however something has changed. It has locked up about 10 times becoming unresponsive to the remote or the front panel buttons. The only option was resetting with the power switch on the rear of the box. Infact it just got stuck on the startup on the 'nearly ready' screen with the blue progress dots still moving.
I did a check for new s/w and it says I'm up to date. So I rang BT support yesterday and was told that I needed a s/w update and to do that I needed to do a full reset and will lose all my recordings. I pointed out that it says I have the latest s/w but he said that wasn't really correct and only a full reset will get me the lastest software.
I also asked if I could back soem of them up but was told that was not possible.
I haven't done the reset becasue I'd quite like to not lose all my recordings. Have I been given good information or does anyone have any better suggestions/advice?

Yes the box does have a trouble with hang ups compare to all my other boxes I have like humax freesat hd ,humax freeview hd 1 tb, cable boxes 3 types that recorded plus two tivo 1 tb boxes.
My box freeze about once a month from getting the box last August and I have done a reset twice and need to power off and then hold on for some time for the data for the freeview epg to load then mix with the bt epg before you can check that all channels are there and working. The box does not like not being on for two days or more. The box does not like being rushed with operating systems like looking at the full channel guide then going to channel fully then change to players and looking through the listing it will freeze or go slower than before in operation.
Its a bugy box of tricks but so were most others a sometime until software is right....

Shallow sound, need advice ple

Hello everybody. I'm noticing that my sound from my Xi-Fi Xtreme Music card is somewhat dull; the sound quality isn't really rich and deep. I'm not really sure how else to explain it, but is there a way I can enhance the sound coming out of my speakers using the console?

Hmm, strange, I updated my drivers to the latest versions and suddenly my sound is rich and vibrant again. Ah well! Make that a note to anyone else who's having issues.

Speaker Advice Please

Hi I am new to Video Editing and have just completed my first project. I visited a friend of mine the other weekend who does some work in Premier, he had a pair of fairly big speakers next to his monitor, when I commented on them he said I should get some and they are useful for editing as you get better sound than from normal speakers.
Can anyone tell me what these are and any recommendations on a make, bear in mind I am only a hobbiest at this time so a budget has to be worked to.

I love my m-audio BX5's. They're closing them out all over the place for $200/pair, since m-audio just released the BX5a. I personally would try to get the discontinued model, as they removed some of the control from the newer version. You no longer get an control over the acoustic space, only volume & power. The originals have an acoustic space control which you can set to compensate for your placement.

Card Advice Ple

I have an older Soundblaster Li've Platinum with Li've Dri've. I think it's around 7 years old. I have all my music on my computer in lossless format andplay it through my Denon stereo system using the spdif out on myli've dri've to digital coax in on the Denon. The spdif out on my old card is limited to 48khzIs there a soundblaster card that gives a higher spdif out bitrateand is compatible with my li've dri've?I'm not really interested in any otherfancy features. I don't play games and don't watch movies on my computerso I really don't care about dts dolby 7. etc etc. I've got all that on my reciever. I just want a raw digital output at the best rate possible to transfer my musicto the stereo system.Also, would the sound quality improvement be worth the time and moneyto do the upgrade. ThanksRB

Audigy cards are compatible with the Li've!dri've, and are capable of 96kHz. But to be honest if the music wasn't recorded and mastered at 96kHz the "quality improvement" will be mostly a placebo effect. What would help you to improve the quality?is?to use a software sample rate converter and an ASIO or KS output plugin to avoid the card's and windows' resampling. And if you are willing to forefit the dri've, almost every recent soundcard (or integrated sound) has some form of SPDIF output capable of 96kHz sampling rates.

Audigy platinum ex questions and advice - dual ouput or dual card - motherboard audio op has died

Hi all.
im new to the forums and would like some advice please.
i use my pc for mixing music and DJ'ing, but the problem that i have is that the onboard sound output has died. i need 2 intendant / separate sound outputs, one for preview, and one for main/live output.
Now, is it possible to configure a audigy platinum ex to provide the required outputs, and if so, how.
if this is not possible, can i use a soundblaster live card in the same pc to provide the required outputs, or as i suspect the answer is no to this due to shared file names within the drivers and such, is there a recommended card that i can use in conjunction with the audigy, or will any generic sound card do the job (for preview output).
i dont want to replace the motherboard and reinstall all the software at the moment, and i use mixmiester, fruityloops, reason and such for mixing/creating, and either mixmiester, tracktor, or pcdj fx for dj'ing.

i didnt know that you could do that.....using the AISO driver allows access to all sorts of outputs..........when i have time im going to have to see what they all do, and what else is available, but the biggest thing is that it has sorted out some of my immediate problems......
i will need to go through all the software to see if i can get access to these outputs from it all, but it definitely works with mixmiester, so i dont need to re plot all the files.
just so that people know, i set the audigy speaker config to 4.0/4.1 in THX setup, and then looked in the advanced audio output section of mixmiester (under output config) and presto....2 independent audio outputs.
dont suppose that anyone knows where to get a complete and detailed manual for what all the software and hardware does and how to configure it all........

Audigy 2 ZS compatibility with SP

Hi,
first post here and happy to find some support.
I just bought a new computer with Audgy 2 ZS. I asked the technician to install the
Microsoft Service Pack 2 but after doing that, there was no sound any more. He
desinstalled the SP2 and the sound card worked again. He thinks that there is an incompatibility between the two. Is that correct or did he miss something in the installation ?

Sorry to say it, but tech support for ANY product relating to PC's especially is about as reliable as a65' harley with 500k miles. Sorry creative, but it's not only you. They cannot afford to pay what would be required in order to hire a number of phone techs who really know thier stuff the way the public wants and expects, so i can see thier point to a degree. Most techs seem to be in the dark about the simplest things when it comes to audio. In fact, our comp tech where i work know thier stuff, but if a volume slider in the windows mixer was muted they never figure it out !
SP2 may have some issues for some, but certainly not all. That tells me one thing.....it's not SP2 thats the problem in and of itself. Your problem is far more likely to be a stupid setting that was missed by the tech which was changed during the SP2 install. I'd wager it's a simple setting or a driver that was installed wrong. The fact that for myself and countless others SP2 works perfect with an audigy speaks volumes. As for creative's techs saying SP2 and audigy aren't compatible....well, i better stop while i'm ahead !

No sound headphone after plug in, sound continues via speaker

I bought a new iphone4 and have sound problem with the earphone. After plugging in ( i hear the click) the sound still continues from the speaker. Pleas support me to find a solution. Thanks a lot

change other earphone .if it is still fail, pls check the audiojack (the place where you plugging in) whether broken or not. then u can change the new iPhone4 in the apple store!
