Audigy 4 & XP Media Edition 2

Has anyone had a problem with their Audigy 4 Entertainment Center when running Windows XP ME 2005.
I have had the card for about a week and it's brilliant apart from one thing. That is when using the Entertainment Center I go out of it and then back in and the screen is all jumbled up and there is a pop-up comes up telling me to change my screen resolution to 440x900 which is what the resolution is set as. The screen on the Entertainment Centeer is like looking at a screen running at 800x600 resolution as well.
Does anyone have a solution please.

  • SB Live Platinum 5.1 and Win XP Media Edition 2

Just a quick question to see if I am heading in the right direction, I have an intel p4 board with an Intel 2.4 ghz chip previous OS was Win XP Pro with sp2....the card ran fine...the odd application that came with the card didn't but overall...life was good..
Then I upgraded the system, same board, same cpu, radeon 9000 pro video card, tv wonder capture card, new OS (Win Media Edition 2005). first loaded old drivers for SB Li've CD then updated all drivers and apps for creatives site..now can't seem to get li've dri've recognised, remote center doesn't seem to work launcher doesn't work and have no sound, at all. Also getting message from Windows "that one or more drivers failed to load at start up" and audio drivers for mixer driver, and sound font settings, as well as mixer settings all failed diagnostics (creatives diagnostics tool)
As I am still fairly new on the software end I thought I would look here before I got things too messed up.
Is there a SB Li've driver issue with Win Media Edition or should i just try a driver reload?
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated as my time just seems to be becoming more and more limited...(isn't everyone's!)
Thanks in advance for any help.

Well, just thought I'd update everybody (you know...me, myself, and I),
As I said previously, i upgrade the system with a larger hard dri've, tv capture card, and a new O/S
Thats where life went sour....my SB Li've platinum 5. digital sound card ( which I must say I was very fond of...) wouldn't work
Tried a clean uninstall/ reinstall of my card and drivers...no go
made sure that I had the latest creative drivers for XP Pro....no go
checked to see that there were no outstanding bios/ mobo updates that needed to be installed...no go
moved the card from the pci slot that it had previously worked fine in (under XP Pro no less)... no go
made sure O/S was completely updated... no go
no adware/spyware etc. ..... no go
checked for any hardware/software conflicts... no go
disabled all virus, spyware, firewall programs.. no go
performed clean boot of XP as per MS instructions....no go and I might add screwed up my system so badly that I had to perform a fresh install of the OS (and yes I followed their instructions to the letter!)
finally, I removed the sound card and went with my onboard audio...fixed...cost priceless!
Now as no one has posted to this thread but me, I am going to add my opinion to this forum
To date I have NEVER, EVER ran anything but a Creative sound card because they have always provided the best products and software for the audiophile...well nothing lasts forever.
I really didn't want to ditch my card as I purchased it weeks after it was released and it has seen win 98, win 98se, win me, win xp pro sp, win xp pro sp2, and finally win mce 2005 as well as numerous hardware upgrades come and go, and has always performed beautifully.
Until now that is. Judging from what I have run into and what I have seen on these forums, covering the li've,audigy, and audigy 2 series cards....there is a major problem here, these cards were all designed to be upgradeable over time! Now I can understand Creative's point of view, it costs a lot of time and money to resurch and design new drivers (particularly with microsofts insistance on driver signing and compatibility)....but I also understand and sympathize with the large number of people frustrated with their product and Creative, in many cases we also have a large cash outlay into Creative's products (in some cases 2 or 3 hundred dollars or much more!), so is it really too much to ask that we can still get updated drivers for some of these older cards with similar if not identical cpu/chipset designs?!?
Not to mention the fact that, for the newer users anyway, the whole driver update procedure should not be as complicated as brain surgery!!! Our li'ves are already complicated enough..
Sorry to go on..but these are just my thoughts on the subject.
    Good luck all!

  • DX735 Infrared driver for Windows 8.1 Media edition

I have the All-in-one DX735-D3302 and upgraded to the Windows 8.1 media edition. There is no compatible IR driver to replace the Nuvoton IR driver. Does anyone know how to find the driver? Microsoft does not provide one for this computer and I cannot find it on any websites. Using the Toshiba driver disables my WiFi and crashes the computer.

  • SB Audigy 2 + Media Centre Edition 2

    Hi
I recently purchased a SB Audigy 2 Card for my Media Centre 2005 machine.
I installed the drivers that came on the CD but and all works fine (In theory). All 5. Channels work but now my games crash so I have tried updating the drivers and software with the Windows XP one but it says they are incompatible with my Windows although it is the Xp drivers I initially installed. All of the games including GTA SA worked fine on my onboard Realtek AC97 drivers.
    Any Ideas?
    Thanks

I recommend you to use one of these DVD players: PowerDVD (http://www.gocyberlink.com/) or WinDVD (http://www.intervideo.com/). There are a lot of glitches, bugs and problems with WMP DVD playback so it's not advised to use it for watching DVDs.
If you choose to use one of the specified DVD players you'll have to select Use SPDIF in Audio options of the player. Also, make sure you've got the latest drivers for the sound card.
    Good luck.

  • Scratch disk media editing vs. internal

    Hello
My current setup is Win8 Pro, i7-990x Extreme, 24Gb kit, and a Quadro2K.  I've been editing Full HD nicely in realtime for the last two years.  I have a single bootup SSD drive for the OS and programs, and two 2TB drives - one mirrors the other.  I had to go this route because my initial 2TB RAID 0 Glyph had died and since then I've been skeptic of that protocol regardless of the fact that's how we were rigged in film school.  I do know however know that my old RAID Glyph setup loaded video (thumbnails) significantly faster than now.  I have gone through numerous ways to RAID my motherboard but without success.
So I was curious of any other hard drive configurations that significantly improve editing time and perhaps rendering.  Should I forget about my rig containing big TB drives and simply downgrade in capacity to two more SSD's like the following:
    Boot Drive 1 60 SSD - Win8 Pro
    Drive 2 - 240GB SSD media
    Drive 3 - 240GB SSD media
    Drive 4 - 2 TB backup
Also are there any benefits in working in a multiple SSD setup if I plan to edit some files that are on (let's say) Drive 2 while Premiere Pro is running on boot from Drive 1?  Or would it be better to have one bigger SSD like Crucial's M500 that's running the OS and working on media files from one SSD architecture?  Retrieving files from another SSD internally is also a scratch protocol is it not?

Well, if you can afford SDDs with enough capacity for your needs, such a system would fly with disk loads.  Many editors would find 512GB (the largest common size for SSDs) far too small for the Media drive.  You may also want more room for the Exports and Cache drives as well, depending on how many simultaneous projects you have going on, so it might not be a bad idea to use those 2TB drives in the mix.
Whether SSD or HDD, that config will spread the load out pretty well so that you're rarely reading and writing to the same drive at the same time.

  • Audigy HD Software Edition quest

I've been shopping for a laptop, and noticed this option from Dell. I planned to get a 24-bit external Li've! card or a audigy NX from ebay before I saw it
I have a Audigy 2 ZS in my desktop (that I'm getting rid of) right now. Does the software edition sound as good? It's not a gaming laptop, so I don't care if it takes CPU cycles.

Your best bet for a laptop would be the PCMCIA Audigy 2 ZS. This features the same hardware processing features like the Audigy 2 ZS. If you have a newer laptop, then you may also want to see the X-Fi XtremeAudio ExpressCard. It isn't hardware, but it's software engine may sound better than the Audigy in games.

  • I want to know if I can backup my Ipad to an external harddrive. I have a pc with xp pro media edition and a partitioned hard drive with very little space on C and lots on D. I am trying to update my Ipad to 5.1.1 and it says it needs 12  gb to backup.

I have a Sony Vaio desktop PC with a partitioned hard drive, running Windows XP Pro. There is 13 gb on C drive with the OS, and 140 gb left on D drive. I am  trying to update my Original Ipad from 4.3.4 to 5.1.1 and because C drive is full ( I have moved everything that can be moved to D drive) mostly from Microsoft updates over the years, I am unable to do  the backup Itunes is telling me I have to do to update or lose all media on this iPad. 12.67 gb is required to do the backup and I have a whopping 965.2 MB.  I can not get the cloud to use as backup as it requires 5.0 or better. Does anyone know if I can back up to D drive,  and if so how? Also, I have a 1 terrabyte WD mini external hard drive I just got as a gift...could I do the backup to it and, again, if so, how? Please explain from start to finish, as my brain is now fried from, first from finally getting Itunes updated to 10.6 ,and now trying to do this update. Thanks to anyone for their help!!

iOS device backups are stored in your iTunes library.
Move your iTunes library to an external drive.

  • Can not "fully install" Quick Time on Windows Media Edition

My HP Pavillion 8000, operating on Windows Media Center, came preloaded with i tunes and Quick Time. I was initially able to use ArcSoft's multimedia e-mail program (also preloaded) and the SAVE AS feature of this program and save e-mails in Quick Time's (.mov) format (the other option is to save in the (.exe) format, which is NOT deliverable by hotmail - another sad story...)After a while, without me doing anything specific, this feature QUIT WORKING. Every time I try to save as "Quick Time (.mov) format" I get an error message stating: "you must first fully install Quick Time before you are able to perform this action". I thought upgrating to Pro might solve this problem, it did not, total waste of money. I uninstalled and reinstalled both Quick Time and Arc Soft's Multimedia e-mail, no luck. I cleaned out my registry (based on advise in this forum), and re-installed, no luck. Any suggestions? If not for the specific problem, any other good multimedia e-mail package that can save in formats deliverable by hotmail?

Thank you very much Jacumba, but I have managed to get it installed now, I do not know what really happened but all is well now..  Thank you again for taking the time to want to help me out.  Have great day!

  • Mixed Media Editing Slowdown

I shot video in three formats that I want to mix; AVCHD (Sony), Panasonic and Aiptek .MOV files.  My thinking was to use native AVCHD since I had the most footage in that format, and pre-render the others.  I sent the .MOV files into m4v files.  All the files loaded nicely in the sequences.  They all seem compatible--no red line indicating re-render.  But when I start to do any opacity editing, they all want to re-render.  I have a show that runs over 70 minutes and don't have the life-span to re-render after every edit.  Short of sending it all to DV and starting over (with a couple of T-bites of hard drive) anybody have any opinions?
Dual core 2.66GHz, 2GB ram, three separate SATA hard drives, video drive is at 7200 RPM, fast nvidea card, winXP.  Killed the internet and virus.
    Thoughts?

    Bill Gehrke wrote:
For about the third time why are you rendering the timeline??????????????
he is rendering the timeline because with AVCHD footage anything you need to do does not work unless the rest of it is rendered off!
or unless you have a $23,000 Mac!
I went throught those hedaches with AVCHD footage.
trying to scrub the timeline is like dragging a dead cow accross the screen!
I had to render, and render, and render, and render some more in order to do the next step what ever it was.
that's why I would never do AVCHD again unless I capture directly from the cam or convert it before bringing it in.
I learned my lesson with one of those projects.

  • Re install on XP PRO Windows Media Edition. SR2023WM

My motherboard died. I replaced it with a HP Compaq motherboard with a Dual Core CPU. I thought that I might as well upgrade since I had to get a new motherboard . The first time it was turned on, it booted up, loaded Windows and went to my Desk Top, no problem. Later in the day I thought I would do a reinstall. I used my Recovery Disks, it looked as though it was working as I was watching the Monitor. When it came time to put my second disk in, CD drive opened and screen said place the second recovery disk in. When it all was loaded, the monitor said to wait while Windows were getting ready to load. Then it looked like Windows was going to open and I get a error message, CODE PURPLE.  I could not get into safe mode. I could get into the BIOS for a time or two as I was trying to figure out what was going on. Now all I see is NO SIGNAL on the Monitor. The fan on the CPU starts out running too fast, but never slows down. I have no power to my USB Ports. I was going to upgrade the old PC to give to my Son. He did purchase the motherboard, for about $85.00. Any one have any suggestions? We live in a rural part of the Country, so I can't just take it to HP. I have educated my self, as best I could, and it seems to happen a lot.
                                              Thanks,
                                                          David Sharpe

Code Purple is the warning that Recovery Disks do not match the motherboard.Recovery will not install on a different motherboard. Only option is to find which model the motherboard came from and you may be able to find a Recovery set for it Or, purchase a retail Windows XP cd.

FMS Streaming server doesn't support either RTMFP or ip multicast. My question is...does FMS interactive server support RTMFP? I have read reviews but i found them rather confusing.
