Audigy Battlefield 2 BF2 Sound Issue Vista

Hi there,
I upgraded my machine to Windows Vista x64 yesterday. And there is someting that really peeves me. The sound in Battlefield 2 is horrible.....
Explosions, Jets, Arty and stuff.... sounds totally broken/scratchy, like if you turn your speakers as far as it will go... you know.. when it becomes booming and you fear your speakers take damage I think oversteering/overmodulating might be the right word.
I can't believe it... the Audigy card and its sound was superior using Windows XP.
Any suggestions

Soundblaster Audigy (latest official driver)

Hi,
I installed this one:
http://forums.creative.com/creativel...scending&page=
It's way much better then before but not perfect, still a little scratchy. I also installed the latest OpenAL (.) but the .dll's didn't worked when copied to BF2 folder, neither the one from system32 nor the one from syswow64. I found two a wrap_oal.dll, wich obviously comes with the drivers above. The 64bit version worked but I didn't noticed any improvements. So I switched back to BF2's OpenAL dll.
I gonna try the driver you posted later this day. Thank you very much.

  • Audigy NX 2 sound issue (paus

I have recently purchased an Audigy NX 2 to connect with my Yamaha home cinema amp, I have it set to pass everything through the optical SPDIF for processing by my Yamaha.
The issue I have is that with the SPDIF output sampling rate at 48kHz there are frequent pauses in sound, if I change the output sampling rate to 44.kHz these pauses lessen but are still there.
Has anyone else experience issues like this? I have installed the latest drivers but with no difference. Is it an issue with me not using a USB2 connection and there is simply not the bandwidth to pass the signal along?
    Any help appreciated.

    Yunior,
I think that you are saying that sound is speeded up when you watch movies. If that is so, is there a time scaling option (such as in EAX Console or MediaSource organizer) in the software you use for this? And what software are you using for watching movies? Also, if you have not already, try disabling your onboard soundcard in BIOS.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Distortion Issues With Vista - See if this solution works for you guys

First of All Creative - It's sad, really sad that you really haven't supported your customers. As such a big maker of excellent products, I'm disappointed to know that you have barely provided driver support to your customers. I've been buying Creative products since 1997 - Also - I purposely upgraded my sound card on my Hp Media Center to an Audigy 2 ZS. Secondly - I formatted my computer and re-installed Vista. Before that, the sound card i.e. the sound worked fine (after a lot of trial and errors with different drivers, i somehow managed to get it working without Snap, Crackle and Pop Issues. In other words, I experienced distorted playback when I first installed Vista. Now that I re-installed Vista - Everything installed but as usual - only issue: Yup, you guessed it right.
Creative Audigy 2 ZS Infamous Snap Crackle Pop (SCP) I did try k_daniels drivers and even though I applaud for his efforts - unfortunately it didn't work for me but i'm sure they would if you did the following - ) Uninstall all Creative Drivers Using Driver Sweep2) Do not install the driver through Windows Update (did not work for me)3) Install latest drivers from Creative or K_Daniel's Package4) Install Vista Codec Pack5) Install DirectX06) Then do the following: Got this sorted. Hope it works for everyone..found the answer searching Google.
Right click VOLUME icon in taskbar
    Click PLAYBACK DEVICES
    Right click SPEAKERS
Click PROPERTIESClick ADVANCED Make sure there's no tick marks in any of the options there including ENHANCEMENTS.
This should sort it. [After doing all this, I have no sound issues whatsoever - Crystal Clear Audio Quality but still not better then XP] I am planning to try K_Daniels pack with all the extra applications and I'll post later on in regards to my experience with the pack. Good Luck P.S: Hope this helps somebody because doing all that helped me get back the audio clarity I was looking for without any distortion whatsoever.

    Hi xmins
Im not using a decoder, only an amplifier alone with two speakers ... My cable is plugged in line out , and then plugged on line in of the amplifier.
The distortion is very audible, in HL 2, Battlefield 2, etc
When got a explosion, a shot from shotgun, missile, the sound comes distorted ...
    Any more hints?

  • Battlefield 2 Sound Cutting out Issue - Possible

This is for anyone who has been experiencing the sound issue in Battlefield 2, where the sound of your gun all of a sudden goes out in the middle of a match AFTER it worked before.
There was threads where people told others to download the BETA driver, which I wasnt going to do. Then there was a thread where someone said something about the OPENAL file that you had to update from Creative. That wasnt it either.
My BF2 Sound Settings BEFORE : Hardware, Quality High, EAX on.
All I did was change one thing. Switch from "Hardware" to "Software". I was able to play round after round after round, and no sound cut out. It seems that its either EA or Creative not coming through for us who have SB Audigy 2 cards. Hopefully a patch or a REAL driver will come out soon and fix this. This is why we got the "Hardware" right?
    Hope this helps all!

Well, I'm using a Audigy2 ZS Platinum Pro card, and haven't experienced any sound problems in both the demo and the full release version.
Am using hardware + EAX + HIGH, in the audio menu.
Haven't installed Creative's latest beta drivers. As I don't like to mess around with beta releases, that have been pushed out early to improve support for a few game titles.
Anyways, this post was just to let you know, that it's possible to play BF2 without sound issues!

  • Battlefield 2 huge sound Issue!Creative statement plea

    Hi guys..
I had once this problem with the DVD playback if some can remember...i couldnt find any solutions so i formatted my system...then reinstalled everything and look there...wow extrem powerful sound, clean and crisp!!! Awesome **bleep**!
GTA San Andreas is working fine, now since 2 days i have Battelfield 2 and there is an enourmous sound issue...you play the game a bit..all of a sudden(before fluent gameplay,no problem)sounds start to stuck alot when you listen to the guy talking to its like hes talking in slow motion and the whole sound starts to get grazy...and the performance drops then down to a level where the game is just not playable...me friend has this game 2 and gues what he has the same problem and last guess...he has an audigy 2...suprised?
If anyone knows this problem and know how to fix it pls let me know...
and i would like to hear from creative a statement if this is their fault or ea's?
All other games run supreme,i mean that in the soundish way.
    thx in advance

I had the same problem with the radio in my game. Turn it from hardware to software mode in the audio options. You'll still get good sound, but it might run a bit slower, as it uses more memory.

  • Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum with Vista 64

0Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum with Vista 64Y Hi
I'm considering buying a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum (with front panel) off ebay, but first I'd like to know if certain features will be compatible with my system. I'm running Vista Home Basic 64bit (hardware is an Asus P5Q-E, Q6600, 2GB of RAM, ATI Radeon HD4850, etc). I'll be using this card for my PC's 5. surround sound system (using the stereo outputs), and more importantly, recording some music. I want to achieve this by using the optical S/PDIF port, as my bass guitar effects board has an S/PDIF output and I've got an S/PDIF cable. I'd also like to use the Line In and Mic inputs. The driver before the latest one for this card said that there was no S/PDIF passthrough for Vista. Has the latest driver got everything I need fixed, so I can just plug it in, install the drivers and then be happily recording through these three inputs?
    Thanks for the help?

I am brand new to this message system but I am so desperate for help I thought I would try it. After reading lots of comments I find that my problem may be more the rule than the exception. I have an Audigy @ Platinum card and all I ever get from it is crackling and popping. I have been around and around with Creative support but nothing they tell me results in a fix. I am so disgusted at this point that I am ready to just trash the whole thing. I have gone through the BIOS and checked so many settings its a shame. Still crackling and popping. I NEED SPECIFIC ANSWERS FROM SOMEBODY...not just the generic flip the wingle wangle to port xyz and move this to that. here has got to be an answer to this maddening problem. The other thing is that now I can't get my MIDI keyboard to play back. I must have turned something off in the set up process but now I have no idea what to do.
If anyone has any solid answers for me PLEASE come forward with them before I kill someone!

  • Vista SP 1 Sound Issues with Creative Drivers

Hi all, I recently switched to a X-Fi Elite Pro, with a Nvidia Video Card.
    Windows Vista SP (32bit)
    Intel Pentium D .8 Ghz
    2gb RAM
XFX GeForce 8600 GT 52mb running
    Creative X-Fi Elite Pro
(it's been a while since I've needed this kind of support so let me know if more info is needed)
Anyways, from the moment Vista plays the logon sound there is static crackling and chirping noises whenever there is audio playing at the same time as any kind of visual change on the screen (not every screen update). For example videos on websites that play them as plugins are especially static-y. However, playing a fullscreen game (i.e. World of Warcraft) does not produce the static.
Interestingly, I have now tried two different video cards. The Nvidia and now a ATI Radeon, both have the same identical problem. I first thought that it might just be a Nvidia Issue but this is not the case
I have checked for IRQ conflicts and none exist that I can find. I have updated Windows as much as I think I can. I've tried changing Creative drivers as well.
Any advice is appreciated.Message Edited by djscotty on 0-04-2009 05:7 [email protected]

  • Equium A300D Sound Issue on Vista

Hi, I am currently having sound issues with my Toshiba laptop.
I am running Windows Vista (32 bit). The problem first occured after a windows update, I can't remember what exactly I did but after searching the net for some solutions I quickly found numerous threads regarding the same issue. I followed the instructions for the 'quick-fixs' that people stated throughout the forums. After numerous attempts with messing with regedit and such programmes and hours of searching the net I decided to try here. After messing around with the sound dependencies I now get a differernt issue.
When I hover my mouse pointer over the sound icon in the bottem right screen it states:
    Volume: 0
    Speakers
    Conexant High Definition Smartaudio221
When I attempt to higher the volume by right clicking the icon and clicking sound I get 3 tabs:
    Playback, recording & sounds.
Under Playback I get 3 sound devices:
Speakers (Conexant High Definition Smartaudio 221) - Working *A green tic beside it
SPDIF Interface (Conexant High Definition Smartaudio 221) - Working
Digital Output Device (High Definition Audio Device) - Working
    I tried uninstalling the drivers and installing again from [here|http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/vista_drivers.jsp?macId=&mode=allMachines&userOS=& action=search&selCategory=2&selFamily=382&selSerie s=173&selProduct=798&selShortMod=727&selOS=26&selT ype=42&country=17&language=13&useDate=1&dayupload= 6&monthupload=12&yearupload=1999&search=]
I am sure I installed it correctly but I am still having the same problem: When I go into my Speakers properties and click the tab Levels, nothing comes up, it's just blank.
    Any ideas would be helpful

    Hello
I believe that Windows updates can be responsible for this sound issue. Because of that I have disabled automatic updates. Before I install updates I use option View Available updates to see what is listed exactly. I have removed all checkmarks in front of optional updates. Maybe you should do the same and avoid installation of some updates that can have negative influence on well working sound, mouse or other hardware components.
If you are sure it is because of Microsoft update the first step you can try is to roll back OS to earlier time before you have installed all those updates.
Have you used TEST option for speakers? Any result?
    Can you hear Windows sounds?
It is really stupid situation. At the end you must install OS again using recovery image. :(

  • Audigy 2zs Gamer and Windows Vista / Windows 7

.Audigy 2zs Gamer and Windows Vista / Windows 7? Hello, I am just wondering if it is a known issue to have really loud static and crackling when playing games using this card in Vista or Windows 7. I had this issue playing Bioshock a few months back on my Vista boot. I never figured out a way to resolve it so I belei've I just eventually uninstalled the driver and used the card without a driver install (not sure but I think this what I did). It worked but I might as well of just ran onboard sound...
Now I have installed and tried to run Windows 7 on a dual boot but I started receiving really loud cracking and popping in Warhammer Online and realized I had not installed a driver for my sound card. I did not expect creative to have a Win 7 driver yet but thought perhaps the Vista driver would work in compatibility mode, it does and sounds awesome and really makes me remember what I am missing without my driver installed on Vista but unfortunatly it randomly starts the crackling and popping again after a while...especially when a lot start happening on screen (pvp raids with many characters on screen and magic effects).
When the crackling starts happening I have no choice but to exit the game and restart the computer to get rid of the noise, but randomly it comes back after a while during gameplay. So as a temporary solution I have installed my onboard sound drivers and have been using that for sound output and my mic port on my sound card for my microphone. I would REALLY love to get my sound issues worked out in both Vista and Win 7 because it sounds SOOO awesome while it's working, the popping though is terrible, I never had that issue in XP.
I know this is an older card but any help would be appreciated!?

One thing you do need to learn is that SHOUTING IS MUCH HARDER TO READ!
But, if you are using Audition 1 and it works with XP, then if you have the chance, I'd stick to that on a new machine. Apart from anything else, it's completely untried with Windows7 and with Vista its a) likely to have problems, and b) going to run slower.
The other part of your question about the 'look' of later versions is that 1.5 looks pretty similar to 1.0, but with 2.0 and 3.0 things have changed somewhat - rather more with Multitrack View than Edit View. Basic operating principle remains the same, though - most people have had very little trouble transferring from one to another.

  • Windows 7 - Audigy 2 ZS Mic Issues

"Windows 7 - Audigy 2 ZS Mic IssuesG Ok, i've seen so many posts on this issue but am now suffering from a headache after spending 3 hours trying everything I could find in google to fix this.
The mic works when it wants. When it does work (rarely), its garbled or lagging like crazy.
I have read, and searched this forums, but besides seeing "Doesn't work" or "Use daniel_k's drivers" i cant find any definate fix (or even links to something new that I haven't already tried).
I tried daniel ks drivers and they seems to be pretty darn good, however it still did not correct my issue.
I record music, and I play games. . . and absolutely love win7. . . but am forced to use XP (limiting my amount of memory used) when I want to do any of the above.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

&Re: Windows 7 - Audigy 2 ZS Mic Issues? The support pack does absolutely nothing to fix the mic issues.
Does this driver improve sound quality or performance? Are there any tweaks?
No, this driver does not improve sound quality nor increase performance.
    No, there are no tweaks.
If someone states that its driver improves sound quality and performance, you are being fooled, cheated.
It is even worse that the so called tweaks come from a person who is not EVEN technically acknowledged, does NOT know anything about Windows internals, software engineering and?sound?fidelity that all audiophiles always look for.
If you "feel" the sound better, that is the infamous placebo effect and there is no real proof that any tweaks work.
In fact, I have yet to see a driver that states in its release notes that it improves sound quality.
I've disassembled about every single .SYS driver, .DLL libraries and .EXE executables and found nothing.
There are some undocumented registry values, but nothing related to sound quality or performance.
Would the so called tweaks even exist, they would be in my Support Packs, you can bet that.
    and
Microphone issues on Windows 7/Vista 64-bit (x64) with 4GB?of RAM or more
Audigy driver does not support 64-bit addressing, resulting in random issues with the Microphone (static, robotic or distorted voice, white noise).
    Workarounds:
    - install the 32-bit (x86) version of Windows
    - limit the RAM available to Windows to less than 4GB
    - enable Memore Hole in BIOS Setup, if?your motherboard supports the setting

    Hi guys!
I have sound problems with Battlefield 242 since I bought a new motherboard.
    Old mobo: Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4
    New one: MSI DKA790GX
    CPU: AMD Phenom X4 9650
    RAM: 4* GB DDR2 800 Kingmax

    OS: Windows 7 64bit Ultimate
Now I getting static/pop sounds during orbital strikes, only in multiplayer mode, in singleplayer mode everything ok!
    I tried several tips like:
[*]Move the sound card to another PCI expansion slot and reinstall the sound card's drivers<[*]Replace nati've disk controller drivers with generic Windows ones<[*]Update the motherboard's BIOS to the latest version (including "beta" versions)<[*]Set the PCI Latency to 96 or greater<[*]Use the X-Fi card only in "Audio Creation Mode" with "Bit-matched playback" option on<[*]Overclock the PCI bus to 40?MHz instead of 33?MHz<[*]Deactivate X-Fi "Crystalizer"<[*]Deactivate unused devices in the motherboard's BIOS to free IRQ resources (RS-232 and Centronix ports, second Ethernet port, Parallel ATA controller, integrated audio)<[*]Deactivate Plug and Play in the motherboard's BIOS.<?
    Any more idea?

"Re: Battlefield 242 sound problem! i've had this issue on my PC since the game came out with my X-Fi xtremegamer, even before win7. i think they said it happens with certain motherboards and there is no fix for it.
what i just do is set it on hardware mode, with high quality. if i use X-Fi mode, then my sound goes crazy during orbital strikes. i wish there was a way to use ultra high audio quality with hardware mode for people like us though.
interestingly, there was a similar problem in BF2. all the static, crackling, popping noise one day disappeared. it was earlier this year, i am not sure what fixed it, but if it was Creative that fixed BF2's X-Fi mode, I really think they ought to do the same for 242. i am guessing it was Creative because it was during a time when there were no patches for the game. it might have even been the latest OpenAL update i applied to BF2, but it was still from Creative. i did apply the same OpenAL update to 242 but it did not fix the static, crackling, pop problem during orbital strikes.

  • Audigy 2 series - Memory issues

Audigy 2 series - Memory issues? Hello,
after mailing the support my problem and asking for a driver update I just got this semi-automated "we dont care"-notice, saying my audigy 2 (zs) was older than 3 years and not supported anymore and therefor would not receive driver updates. Thing that keeps me wondering is that the last driver version got released july 2009, which is also WAY past the "3 years"-mark, so is there still hope to complain again about this very issue or has Creative really abandoned this great card?
The issue im experiencing is whats also described in this unofficial FAQ I found within these forums saying the drivers don't support more than 4 GB of RAM (Windows XP 64), which I just figured out myself the hard way as well. Lowering the memory amount to 4GB is DEFINITELY NOT an option!
Are there possibly any unofficial drivers tackling this issue or is this now Creative's way to force me to buy a newer sound card and hope the driver developers didn't fail as hard with them drivers as they did with the audigy drivers? (I mean really? Not capable of "real" 64bit support? in 2009? Hello?)
    Any feedback is greatly appreciated

#Re: Audigy 2 series - Memory issuest Truely sad is the drivers I got from Creative did not work for me.
I had first search, find, and use Danel's drivers.
As for being old, my old Audigy 2 ZS Plat. card died last month. Knowing how much I love that sound card, my girlfriend bought me a new one from an online store and gave it to me for Christmas along with Windows 7 64-bit and more memory.
She is a computer nerd like me.
Anyway, the fact is they are still being sold new today.
No support for a newly purchased producted?
Now I hear these problems have existed since Vista.
    What gives?
By the way Audigy 2 ZS Plat was (still is if creative fixes the drivers) the best sound card on the market. For $70 you can get virtually the same hardware. As far as I can tell X-Fi hardware is the same as the Audigy 2, only rebadged. Most the features you do not get are dependent on the sofware, features are turned on or off depending on the card's hardware ID, not that the card can not support the features. The extra $25+ is not worth it in my mind.
