Audigy Gamer-Missing headphone stereo output & bizarr behav

Yes I know I have an older card =/ Anyway...
The problem:
One random bootup into WinXP soundcard no longer provides right headphone output. So I troubleshoot it with a different pair. Same problem. I return to using my old pair only to find out now the left side has gone out too! I shut down the comp, pulled the card out, and blew the jacks out with air compressor -- to no avail. I return the card to its PCI slot and turn the comp back on. Now instead of having now sound at all I only have a high pitched (volume dependant) whine whenever the WInXP asks for audio output. I then proceed to uninstall the dri'ves and update to the latest, but only to come back to my original problem -- no sound from the right ear.
Yes. I've read through the sticky "read first" post. It didnt help. So perhaps someone with experience can help me out. Anyone?
Thanks.

Ok. so now the squeal has returned and crashes WinXP (not a BSOD though). Btw, there have been no hardware changes to the system.Message Edited by zork77 on 03-03-20060:06 PM
Update:
Ah-ha! The squealing starts when I go to switch headphones jacks. Suggesting...a physical malfunction within the card? Man I wonder what I did to fry my poor ol' audigy. Lol.Message Edited by zork77 on 03-03-20060:48 PM

  • Audigy 2 ZS : only stereo output from SP

    Hi everybody,
Please let me explain you my problem : I have an Audigy 2 ZS sound card that I want to connect to my CambridgeAudio DD & DTS amplifier. To achieve this, I have set everything up to be as transparent as possible on the computer (that means, no decoding is performed neither by the sound card nor by any software) so that the raw stream goes to the "digital coax in" on my amplifier. I use a mini-jack to RCA adapter and then a coax cable to the amplifier.
Now the result of all this : even though my amplifier detects it receives a DD or DTS signal (it is displayed on the front panel), I can only hear stereo.
Any ideas ? I've installed new drivers, deinstall, reinstall, etc... none of this worked.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated before I try and check whether this card can fly (just kiddin').
    Thanks !
    Nicolas

    Nicolas,
If you are playing a Dolby Digital or DTS source, the stream should go through to the amplifier/decoder you have connected, and play it properly. Just make sure you set your DVD software's audio option to SPDIF or Bypass aswell. It may be set to 5./6 speaker now, in which case the software will decode the signal. Some trial versions of applications will not support this feature or setting.
If you are playing music/games or another similar source, then it is not a Dolby Digital or DTS source, and what you're experiencing is normal. Check this page for more detail:

  • Dtt3500 and Audigy Gamer, digital output only 2 channel unless its D

Ok I recieved a response concerning my last comment but unfortunatly it did not answer my question at all. I have a DTT3500 and a sound blaster Audigy Gamer hooked up with the digital out to the /8 din adapter. I try the advanced 3d demo that came with the Audigy software and I only hear the front 2 channels, no center and no rears. The demo where you move the little icons and sound moves along with it. I have 5. activated in my windows control center along with audioHQ and digital out only is selected. my DTT3500 has 4./5. digital selected along with dolby digital/pcm audio and digital in. I am not getting the effect of multisurround at all. My center works and my rears work because playing music I can use all 5 speakers. When I use the analogue outputs I hear multisurround from the advanced 3d demo but my center doesnt work. The analogue setup sounds better but without a center channel its useless to me. Am I doing something wrong? I am using the adapter and digital DIN, what gives? The only reason I noticed I wasnt getting surround was while playing games nothing comes from behind you even on 5. games. The goldmine demo doesnt even work right, when the bird flys behind you it disappears but there is still sound from the rears. Analogue fixes this without a center but the manual and setup say to use the digital din. Do I just have a setting wrong? I would like to experiance the full capacity of multispeakers in my games.

    Dennis,
With these speakers the connection that I would suggest would be to use the Digital out on the back of the sound card into the DIN Input on the DTT3500's. This will require a converter cable for /8'' Minidin to standard DIN which can be purchased from here:
    http://us.creative.com/products/prod...0&product=0375
You will also need a standard DIN cable (one should have shipped with your DTT3500's).
This should give you 5. with digital output only enabled on the Audigy.

    Hi,
As a further test to identify whether this is a hardware or software issue, try the following.
    1.  Create a bootable Ubuntu CD - a guide on creating an Ubuntu CD and the download can be found Here.
    2.  When created, follow the guide on the link below to Try Ubuntu.
    http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/try-ubuntu-before-you-install
The 'Try Ubuntu' option runs the OS from the CD without the need to install on your HDD.  It will be slow running from a CD but let me know if you get audio.

  • CMSS 5.1 Analog on a Audigy Gamer, not possible b/c no analog center/sub outpu

Hi I have an Audigy Gamer there is outputs for only 2 analog stereo jacks ( Speaker Set , and speaker set 2) there is no third jack for the that last connector Sub/Center.<SPAN> What gives?<SPAN> I thought the Audigy was compatible with 5. systems? I guess they only mean ac-3 digital audio output huh.<SPAN> If this is the case, what is the cheapest SB card I can upgrade to with the standard 3 sets of analog jacks so that I can get proper full surround with the triple (Green/front pair, black/rear pair, black/center and sub) analog wires?
    Thx in advance
    -Riddler

<SPAN>Thank you! I had my digital coax connected there with an adapter, but since that can only carry ac-3 and stereo signals im better of using direct 5 chan ( i don?t watch movies on my PC... that?s what the home theater is for) Most games use EAX or some other direct sound, so ill stick with 5. direct analog. who would have thought the digital jack was also for center/sub heh.
    <SPAN>
    <SPAN>Thanks again man!

  • Audigy Gamer and HTIB (Home Theater in a B

    Hi,
I would like to play DVDs on my PC and output the sound to my HTIB speakers. I've bought a Camcorder A/V cable that has a 4-pole minijack, plugged it into the Gamer at one end and the coax (RCA) in on the DVD player at the other end. I'm not getting any sound at all. I tried using a couple of different free DVD software players, InterActual and PowerDVD.
I've read on this forum that only the purchased, more sophisticated DVD player software will allow this. Before I shell out for a full-featured program, can someone from Creative verify whether or not the Audigy Gamer is capable of sending sound to a HTIB?
    Many thanks,
    gcube

    TheJ,
That's exactly the info I needed. I was under the mistaken impression that Windows XP magically updated my hardware drivers, so I didn't even look at that possibility. I downloaded/installed the Console, found the S/PDIF passthrough and finally got sound out of my HTIB speakers.
The sound was choppy to start with but sorted itself out without my doing anything.
In case this may be of use to others, these are the settings I used:In AudioHQ:AC-3 Decode uncheckedSpeakers = 5.Digital Out Only checked
In Audio ConsoleSpeakers = 5.CMSS2 option selectedDecoder = Passthrough
All other settings were default ones.
Hardware from La Source (formerly Radio Shack here in Canada) Cable = Nexxtech Evolution Audio/Video Dubbing Cable 7.2m (24ft) part number 50539N (RCA male both ends) $4.99 CdnAdapter = Nexxtech Gol-Plated Phono Jack to /8" (3.5mm) mono phone plug. Part number 2740897 $4.49 Cdn
La Source also has a Shielded Audio Cable with the correct plugs (no adapter needed) part number 4202444N for $6.99 Cdn. I have not tested it because it was too short (.8m or 6ft) for my setup, but I don't see why it should not work.
Once again, many thanks for the help.g3

  • Imported concert from MainStage 2, trouble with stereo output.

    Hi everyone,
I've imported a concert from mainstage 2 in the newest 3. I don't know why but I found many trouble when setting the output of the project.
I'm using a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 DSP and when a stereo output is set, I see in mainstage the L-R indicator bars blink. Only the Left indicator works correctly, the Right continue blink and I have no output from that connector.
Has Anyone encountered the same issue? Can anyone help me, or could anyone drive me on the right-way to find an answer?
If more informations are needed just ask
    Thanks to everyone.

Ummm my apologies if I missed it, but Ive read through this thread and Im not sure if theres an answer to the original question. Ive got a similar situation, AVI out of PP3 with all sources stereo, the AVI sounds great in media player and is definitely stereo. Bring the AVI into Encore 2 and the resulting DVD is double mono using the left channel only heres the strange thing, I get the same results using Nero Vision Express. I am 100% sure the AVI is stereo, it includes clips from an old Beatles song where the old school stereo imaging put all of the vocals into the left channel and the instrumentals into the right, well, the instrumentals are gone on the DVD and Ive got nothing but vocals. Again, the AVI sounds fine, just for kicks I even burned the raw AVI to DVD and popped the disk into a set-top player and it played fine something is wrong with the transcoding and its a problem for both Encore and Nero. Any know whats up? Are we calling it a bug? Seems kind of serious if it is, the kind of bug that should keep a product from launching.

  • What audio interfaces for iPad are there that give stereo outputs?

I've had persons tell me that an iPad is not good to use as you would a computer in DJing because it can't do split stereo outputs. I was thinking that perhaps an audio interface that connects through the dock might fix that. Can anyone give me a list of such interfaces?

    DJ Arctic wrote:
From what I understand, most headphone splitters (like the Griffin DJ Cable) split the stereo track into two mono tracksone for pre-cueing, one for what the audience hears.
Note that the Griffin DJ Cable does not fall into the same category as "most headphone splitters". It is made specifically with a stereo/mono output for the algoriddim djay app.
This is one of the mono output cables you would need to specifically hunt down.
    DJ Arctic wrote:
If you know of a headphone splitter that doesn't do that, but gives two stereo channels, I'd be glad to take a look at it.
All of these are single stereo to double stereo outputs -> Headphone splitters
Ask for a headphone splitter in just about any store (Walmart, Best Buy, Target, 7-11) and you'll get what you want.

  • Muffled audio from rear speakers using Audigy Gamer

I just upgraded my mobo to the asrock 939Dual-SATA2, and was using the 7. onboard audio until the buzzing/humming everytime I moved the mouse finally got to me. I also missed being able to skew the sound slightly to my rear speakers.
I finally decided to reinstall my Audigy Gamer. I was very disappointed to discover the rear speakers playing awfully. The music is very muffled and nothing like the front speakers.
Before I upgraded my mobo these monsoon 5. speakers played great with the audigy gamer. They also played great with the 7. onboard audio.
    Can anyone help me?

Read through this lot and see how you go.

  • 2 Stereo Outputs?

    ? [size="3" face="Verdana">Hi,
Im looking to set up my new PCs sound Card settings the same as my old one, but after trying every conceivable way its not happening!
Its a Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium on Vista.
Basically I want 2 normal stereo outputs to 2 different sets of speakers. set of normal PC speakers & into my amp for better louder sound. What i don't want is any kind of fake surround sound which is all i can achieve at the moment on the rear set, Front set (pc speakers) are working fine.
I had it set up this way for years on my old machine with a Sound Blaster Audigy 2, Just looked and it was set to 6. which this new software does not have.
    any help would be great.

The audio creation interface is a bit complex do you mind explaining it a little.
Let me explain a little, i have my computer, screen and 2. speaker system. This was fine, but?I've?recently moved my room around and now?I've?been able to plug my TV into the computer with the idea to watch movies on it and various other things
So i have the cables all hooked up, have image, but no sound out of the TV i have the VGA + 3.5mm in, and when i change mode it makes sounds, so the connection must work and everything, anyway I've found this thread now so hopefully with your help, I'll get the sound coming out the TV too.
    thanks

  • Stereo output from both RCA pairs on Titanium HD?

Is it possible to use 'RCA Line-In' as a second 'RCA Line Out'? I need 2 stereo outputs to connect? different audio devices and i don't want to use a RCA splitter..

Is it possible to use the 'Headphone jack' at the same with the 'RCA Line Out' ?
Unfortunately not, this is a feature people request regularly, but it doesn't seem like Creative will do anything about it.

  • Logic Pro X - Stereo Output Disappearing

I have a problem with the Stereo Output channel in the mixer not showing any activity. It seems to be an intermittent fault.
I have two multi-instruments set up (Stylus RMX and Kontakt 5) plus two folders of audio (Vox and Guitar).  Stylus works fine with activity on record and playback in all channels and the Output,  but Kontakt sometimes doesn't show in the Output channel (even though selecting bounce from that channel does produce a recording).  When recording my guitar, activity shows in the channel strip but nothing shows in the Output channel.
Has anyone else come across this?  I never had this problem in Logic 8 or 9.

    Ah - I have found work-around/solution.
If I click on "read" on the Channel Strip of the Output within the Inspector - I get this issue, but when I click on Read within the channel Strip of Output within the Mixer (and create a channel strip for Output in the Arrange window that way), the channel Strip for Output does not go missing whenever I change something.

  • Audigy Gamer driver iss

I cannot get the latest drivers for the Audigy Gamer (E400) to work correctly with my card no matter what I do. I'm running off a clean WinXP install with SP2. I installed AUD_EAX4DRV_0303.exe, then updated my AudioHQ, then installed AUD_WEBUP_PCWDRV_-84-40.exe. Upon installation I get sound, my mixer works, and AudioHQ works (EQ, ENV, FX presets all funciton). But when any game attempts to use EAX, I get no sound. If I alt-tab out of the game, and load AudioHQ, all of my ENV, EQ, and FX settings are blank. As soon as I exit the game, AudioHQ returns to normal and my sound returns. I've tried updating drivers every way possible, and nothing's changed. I have to use old drivers, and the old drivers produce very poor EAX effects, if any, but they are the only drivers that actually function fully.

    Audigy Gamer (E400)
    MSI GeForce 3 Ti 200
    DirectX 9.0c
    Windows XP Professional w/SP2
If there is anybody out there who has gotten this card to work correctly, i'd very much appreciate your guidance. The lack of driver support on this card is pathetic to say the least, and it does not give me any encouragement to ever purchase a Creative Labs card again. I know there are ways to use Audigy 2 drivers with this card, but i'd like to first hear if there are any real fixes for this card.
    Thanks for any help!

    Avenger55,
The problem that you are dealing with here is that the original driver CD you have predates Windows XP. It is possible to get the CD install to work under XP by doing what we discussed earlier, however it appears there may be a third detail that is causing the trouble here. I noticed that you are running a VIA chipset, are you running the latest version of the Hyperion 4 in drivers? If not you should go to www.viaarena.com and get the update. The newest drivers should work with your system without trouble as long as the system is up to date.
You might also consider ordering our latest install CD for the Audigy as it contains the latest drivers for the Audigy along with all of the updated software. You can order it from our Direct Sales department who can be contacted at -800-998-000 option #.

  • How to record stereo output in Logic Pro X

I am trying to record the stereo output in Logic Pro X on the spare stereo track. In other words what I would like to do is to record audio/software instruments tracks existing in my project as well as my real time performance on top of that (let's say a software synth played using a midi controller) to a new stereo track, just like if I were recording Logic's stereo out to an external recorder except in this case you are recording that to a spare tracks within Logic X.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Send everything to Bus X - Bus X to StereoMstr (for monitoring)
    Create new Track/Channel
    - for Input choose Bus X
    - for Output choose No Output
Engage Record on the newly created track and off you go.
    Have a nice day!
