Audigy Gamer + XP Pro + Via Chip

Howdy,
I originally installed my Audigy Gamer when I had Win98SE loaded on this PC. When I upgraded to XP Pro I had alot of problems. I wrote Tech Support, and they answered, saying the system had another sound device somewhere, that's what was causing the problem. There were no other sound devices, and I finally got the card to operate enough to play sounds. None of the CL software would work, the sound was crackly, but it was good enough to race with.
(a year later)
Lastnight I decided to give it a go at trying to get it installed correctly. What a huge mistake. The updated driver file completely slammed my PC. The CD-Roms were corrupted, along with a system file for PnP. I uninstalled everything, ran the ZAPP file from the CD, then reinstalled the card. XP saw it upon bootup, loaded the drivers, then asked for a reboot. I got the dreaded "No Sound Card Found" message.
Here's the freaky part. I can go into Device Manager and it shows the Audigy card. Properties says it's "Operating Properly". "There are no conflicts". But in Control Panel, under Sound, it says "No Audio Device Present". If I go to the "hardware" tab,.. it'll show the Audigy card. (??)
DirectX also doesn't list the card. I have read a few forums,.. and most of the people say that it's a combination of the Audigy card, XP Pro, and the Via Chipset on my MSI motherboard.
Is there a work around?
Can I get this thing loaded and operating properly?
I've wasted enough time fiddling with it already. More info: I built the PC, am fairly PC intelligent,.. am doing everything right as far as I can tell. I can't run any of the software updates from the site evn though the drivers are already installed because the install process stops when it can't find a creative audio device.
Any help would be appreciated. This card wasn't cheap,.. and I'd hate to toss it in the dumpster and swear off Creative products,.. I'd rather get it installed and stop whining.
Thanks.
Tim Casey

For anybody else having this same problem, continue reading the posts, or:
Go to Device Manager, look in System,.. is Plug and Play Software Enumerator" there?
If not,... (XP)
Search for "machine.inf", copy it to a Temp folder somewhere. Open it up and delete line 20 "ExcludeFromSelect". Save file to the new Temp folder. Search for "swenum.sys", copy it to the same Temp folder.
Then go to Control Panel, Add New Hardware,.. Have Disk,.. Browse to the Temp folder,.. "OK",.. then "System",... scroll down and highlight "Plug and Play Software Enumerator".

  • __**MY**__ SCP fix for Audigy 2 + Sempron and VIA chip

    Hello all,
I've read most of the gigantic threads about SCP, tried many fixes, messed with a lot of settings and here's what fixed:
    - Uninstall all programs and drivers for your soundcard (kX, CL, etc). Remeber to remove programs from "Add & Remove Programs" and uninstall your soundcard in Device Manager. I've used Driver Cleaner Pro from DriverHeaven to remove all trails of old drivers as well.
2 - Reboot. In BIOS, i've messed with delay PCI transaction, AGP fast write, AGP performance, PCI timing thing... and never made any difference. Right now i'm running PCI delay transaction DISABLED and PCI timing value 64.
3 - Boot into Win (using XP, dunno about Vista). Click cancel when it prompt to install the soundcard. If it automaticly installs the soundcard, uninstall it and make sure it stays dead.
4 - Install the latest kX package and drivers, currently 3538m (http://www.driverheaven.net/general-discussion/2897-3538m-released-5.html). I've only installed the required modules. Check each module description and it will tell you what's required.
5 - Probably reboot again here
6 - Back to Win, go into Control Panel > Sound and Audio Devices. In the audio and voice tabs, select the Wave __HQ__ for all devices except for 'midi music playback'.
Ok, so now, with a little bit of luck, SCP should be gone. If not, reboot and verify. I get a crack or a pop once in a while, but omg it was much worse. I have no idea why some settings make SCP worse and others aliviate the issue.
I'm sure a clear statement from someone that knows what's going on with the hardware itself is still missing. Anyway, feel free to include some _REAL_ and _DECENT_ info to this thread.
    Regards,
    mksm

It sounds like the driver installation is corrupt. Try uninstalling all your Creative software and then reinstalling it from the CD. The 5. option should reappear. Then you should be able to upgrade to the latest version via the web update.

  • Audigy 2 Platinum Pro stutters when decoding from AC3 via ffds

    hi all
i am playing a movie with ac3 soundtrack on it.
    My Configuration:
    Audigy 2 Platinum Pro->AudioHQ->Hardwarecontrol (ger?testeuerung in German)->->Digital Input->Dolby Digital/SPDIF-In-Decoding
->Decoder->use installed Decoder->all settings enabled for Digital EX and DTS ES.
ffdshow->AC3 passthrough to SPDIF and DTS passthrough to SPDIF
I have 6. Analog Speakers connected. (Creative Set)
Problem: Audio stutters like hell !!
Since i also have HTPC (HomeCinema PC) configured with a external decoder, i know the file is ok, and its with all files. on my HTPC i have AC3 Passthrough (SPDIF passthrough if you like) and the decoder (Denon AVR) shows Digital In detected and decodes properly.
Well know to my PCs configuraton where the Audigy should make the decoding. As i play the file, regardless what programm (VLC, Media Player/Classic, InterVideo WinDVD) it shows me the Dolby Digital icon in the lower right screen as i start the movie, so it realizes the Digtial Audio, but why doesnt it decode it properly??

"problem now is, repack decodes all streams as dolby even if its mp3, and very funny, it only works with normal media player, media player classic has no audio anymore".
repack ? I think you mean reclock. mmmh, your problem sounds like a really bad installation, which creates a complete mess in the filter graphs.
Since I'm one who insists on bulding his architectures around generic softwares only (mediaplayer 6.4 and 0 for example), I'll advise you to first uninstall FFDShow, every codecs and parsers installed, and every players too (except the windows integrated ones ) Allways avoid all-in-one solutions if you want a super-flexible and easy to maintain system.
When you've cleaned your system, you can install the codecs and parsers you need for each format. Be aware to configure each one to decode only its format). Avoid the codec pack which are just good to mess what should be a clean installation. Avoid AC3filter, the ac3 decoder from your installed DVD player will be sufficient if it has a good SPDIF option (powerdvd5 audio decoder for example). You might need in some case an XFormer for your ac3 streams http://inmatrix.osnn.net/ac3xform.exe . And don't forget reclock. That's all.
"well, clearly decoding on the PC is far more complex then running it through a external decoder."
Decoding with the PC is complete piece of cake, that's building a good PC with a good system that is not something everything can do with just instinct
"can i control audio buffer in ffd? (id rather be in control then repack, since repack crashes after every movie...)", I don't know, I decided years ago to avoid all-in-one solutions, and on top of all, FFDShow.
" the audigy doesnt do all the work, which is very astonishing and very disapointing..."
What do you mean ? It uses CPU when decoding ? My ZS do not.

  • Games on WinXP via Bootcamp

Please post your exeriences playing games on WinXP via Bootcamp. Please post the name of game and how well it plays.

Okay, the skinny on Half-Life 2 on XP on the iMac.... IT ROCKS!!! And I don't mean 'oh yes, it plays pretty good, well, pretty good on a Mac anyway'... I mean - IT REALLY ROCKS!
I'll calm down a bit now and explain.
I bought Half-Life 2 went it first came out, but at the time I had a fairly low spec PC. So the following Spring (2005) I got a bit of cash saved up and I treated myself to a new PC I built from scratch with the following spec:
Athlon 64 3000+, 1gb RAM (later 2gb), ATI Radeon X800XT, 19" TFT monitor, Audigy 2zs soundcard etc etc
Now this was pretty **** good at most things and fairly tore up Half-Life 2 at the highest resoltion my monitor would go to, being 1280x1024 - though it had some problems with stuttering and the odd bit of jerkiness.
So now, a year later and I've ditched my PC and got an iMac which I BootCamped XP onto yesterday without hitch.
After installing Half-Life 2 and waiting for Steam to do its thang, I started it up and immediately put all the settings to high, the AA to 2x and the AF to 16x. I then set the screen rez to 1280 x 1024 and started a new game.
Wow! It was as smooth and fast as anything!
So, suitably impressed, I then whacked the rez right up to the 20" iMac's native widescreen 1680 x 1050.
Double wow! It dealt with that with no problems either!
And I don't know if Valve have sorted out the stuttering since I last played it but there was none of that here!
Absolutely marvellous! It seems the combination of the Mobility Radeon x1600 and the Intel Dual Core cpu, along with the superfast bus and memory speeds, are spot on for fairly recent games. By the way I've got 1gb ram but only went for the 128mb graphics chip.
I'm next going to be trying F.E.A.R which should up the ante a bit!
The only bad thing about all this excitement is that I havent booted into OS X for 2 days! Oops!

  • X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Falality Pro and I/O Dr

I have an I/O (front panel) dri've from my old Audigy Platinum that I want to use on my new X-Fi Fatality Pro. I have the IDE-like cable connected, but I cannot get any audio out of the headphone jack (I want this because my roommate goes to bed early and always complains about my speakers being too loud). The speakers I have are an old set of Creative Inspire 4400 4.'s. I have messed with all of the settings I can think of that would be relevant to the issue (unmute auxilliary, make sure volumes are turned up, etc), but all I can hear from my headphones hooked to the front panel headphone jack is static. Is there some setting I am missing? Thanks for any help.

Istarth the new X-Fi Extreme Gamer Fatalty Pro is not new per se, just a Fatalty FPS repackaged without the controller box and remote. In other words it's just the same exact card without the addons, it also has the same exact 64MB Xram and same software bundle. This was verified by Creative when I called them.
The drop in price on the Fatalty FPS to $200 makes it tempting to still get the FPS instead at only $50 more though, especially if you plan on hooking anything up to it like a console. The remote alone on the FPS is very handy and sophisticated and makes a lot of the adjustments quicker and easier.
Since the Extreme Gamer Pro just debuted though, the prices have yet to drop much. Best price I found so far is $27. You can get the FPS for $85 with free shipping at Newegg though. BTW, if you have an HDTV or stereo you want to get 5. audio to your PC from, you can use the controller box on the FPS to do so via a digital audio cable.
There is an option as well to buy the very inexpensi've $5 Digital I/O Module accessory for the Extreme Gamer which is a pigtail adapter that has a digital audio input for such purposes.

  • Audigy Gamer driver iss

I cannot get the latest drivers for the Audigy Gamer (E400) to work correctly with my card no matter what I do. I'm running off a clean WinXP install with SP2. I installed AUD_EAX4DRV_0303.exe, then updated my AudioHQ, then installed AUD_WEBUP_PCWDRV_-84-40.exe. Upon installation I get sound, my mixer works, and AudioHQ works (EQ, ENV, FX presets all funciton). But when any game attempts to use EAX, I get no sound. If I alt-tab out of the game, and load AudioHQ, all of my ENV, EQ, and FX settings are blank. As soon as I exit the game, AudioHQ returns to normal and my sound returns. I've tried updating drivers every way possible, and nothing's changed. I have to use old drivers, and the old drivers produce very poor EAX effects, if any, but they are the only drivers that actually function fully.
    System Specs:
    MSI KT3 Ultra2 (Via KT333)
    AthlonXP 800+
    52 MB PC2700
    40 GB WD 7200RPM
    40 GB Maxtor 7200RPM
    Audigy Gamer (E400)
    MSI GeForce 3 Ti 200
    DirectX 9.0c
    Windows XP Professional w/SP2
If there is anybody out there who has gotten this card to work correctly, i'd very much appreciate your guidance. The lack of driver support on this card is pathetic to say the least, and it does not give me any encouragement to ever purchase a Creative Labs card again. I know there are ways to use Audigy 2 drivers with this card, but i'd like to first hear if there are any real fixes for this card.
    Thanks for any help!

    Avenger55,
The problem that you are dealing with here is that the original driver CD you have predates Windows XP. It is possible to get the CD install to work under XP by doing what we discussed earlier, however it appears there may be a third detail that is causing the trouble here. I noticed that you are running a VIA chipset, are you running the latest version of the Hyperion 4 in drivers? If not you should go to www.viaarena.com and get the update. The newest drivers should work with your system without trouble as long as the system is up to date.
You might also consider ordering our latest install CD for the Audigy as it contains the latest drivers for the Audigy along with all of the updated software. You can order it from our Direct Sales department who can be contacted at -800-998-000 option #.

  • Enquiry about audigy 4 [NON-PRO] & audigy 2

Hi, I would like to make an enquiry about a few creative products.
I am currently intrested in getting a T7900 speaker system.
However i have doubts on the soundcard that i should get.
Could anyone identify the difference with a Audigy 4 [NON-Pro] and a Audigy 2 ZS.
I couldn't find any through comparison on these 2 products in the whole creative website.
And also, is the T7900 7. speaker system compatible with either of the 2 audigy sound cards.
Which card would you recommand me to go for too.
Thanks in advance. =)Message Edited by kutysam on 02-8-200603:48 AM

Well im feeling lazy ATM so I have no technical data to pass on. I would say thought the differents are :
: Price,, hmm get which is cheaper
2: The Audigy 4 would have ( at a guess anyway?)?more settings/tools and banks for media creation and the like.
Other than that, not a great deal between them. As far as games go, they both do the very same thing and with DVD movies they would produce the same rates as with music.
Id say, get the ZS if your into games and DVDs+music, or get the A 4 for the same reasons + Media creation/mixing and stuff like that.
Like I said, to lazy to research it further but close enough

  • Audigy Gamer not found by Wondows XP - Emu10kx installing inst

I have bee using an audigy gamer quite succesfully for the past year or so. Today, I upgraded my motherboard and cpu. my new motherboard has built on sound (as they all do now) that I have DISABLED in BIOS. I reinstalled a fresh copy of WindowsXP so the drivers would not be messed up with a new motherboard. I can see in my device manager that Creative Audigy Audio Proccesor (WDM) is on my list of installed and working devices...but i get no sound at all. I looked in my sound settings though windows and it shows my default sound device as Emu0kx Audio. This sounds like the same problems I read other people having but here is the difference... I still have my original CD! I used it, twice now, to try to install my card correctly, but nothing changes, still no sound. I downloaded the AUD_EAX4DRV_0303.exe pack from creative's web site but when I try to use it, it says no sound blaster audigy found on your system. I can assure you, it is in there. like I said before, it worked fine until I swapped motherboard and processor. I went from an MSI board with an Athlon 800+ to an MSI board (K8T Neo) with an Athlon 64 3400+. I have already tried moving it to a new PCI slot and that does not work either. I have downloaded all updates for my motherboard already. I checked with MSI, they say that this card is tested and works fine with their board. Also, the game port off my audigy is not showing up. I dont know if this is related to the same problem or not. One last thing, the firewire port on my audigy DOES work. So, this means, the card IS being found, but not found as an audigy. Please help!!!

Same problem here, it seems Microsoft has decided we should all be using this Kx driver instead. Is just as well because it works and CL can't manage to write drivers for thier own products anymore for some reason. I believe they may be trying to run some type of forced obsoescense on us. I do give them props for sharing the necessary specs to the ALSA people as my SBAudigy2 platinum works great on Ubuntu Linux using the ALSA driver.
but yeah, why does creative even offer the drivers online, NOBODY can install them, the installer is either broken or some firmware change or something makes it look like not a SB card so the installer will never work to install the driver. At least with the EMU0kx driver you have audio. If you force it via CTZAP on the CD it will install a non working driver and nothing will detect a Soundblaster card.
Cliffs: There are no drivers for the Soundblaster audigy series on Windows XP any more give up looking. A fresh install of windows and using your Install CD does not work, moving the card to a new PCI slot does not work, uninstalling the card drivers and hardware then reinstalling does not work. Creative is known for supplying great hardware and horrible software, sad but true.

  • Conflict between Audigy 2 ZS Pro and four Wifi PCI Ca

    Hello,
I apologize for my wrong English.
I am an happy user of Audigy 2 ZS Pro.
I tried to install a WiFi PCI Card and the PC freeze just after the launch of Windows XP SP2.
I tried with four cards with respect of installation procedures :
    - D-Link DWL-G520
    - OvisLink Evo-W54PCI
    - SMC-Networks SMCWPCI-GM
    - Netgear WPN3
    and none of them works.
There is a conflict with memory resources allocation : D7DF8000-D7DFFFFF for Wifi Card and the same for Firewire port of Audigy.
It is impossible (for me) to desactivate Firewire port on Audigy or changing memory allocation.

I'm quite sure it's an incompatibility between the SLi and the audigy 2 card whether that's a driver conflict or hardware conflict I have yet to determine, since it's behavior is very random if I play games with sound disabled it works fine if I leave internet explorer open though when the page refresh click sound is played while I have a game running it will cause the comp to freeze and reboot. I did not have the realtec(k) ? drivers installed before I removed the audigy 2 card I also had the realtec onboard sound disabled in the BIOS as for speed settings I have no clue what you are talking about I pretty much leave teh bios settings default except for the disabling of the unused onboard devices.Message Edited by psaux on 03-28-20060:2 AM

  • Audigy 2 ZS Pro digital output and Windows XP Pro

Recently "upgraded" my system to Windows XP Pro X64. My soundcard, an Audigy 2 ZS Pro, connects to my logitech 5. digital speakers via the front coaxial connector, no longer seems to output digital signal. The speakers indicate that there is no signal from the coaxial connection. I can hear sound from headphone through the analog output though.
Before the upgrade, I had everything working, but I don't remember all the details I went through to get it to work.
I have installed latest driver for Windows XP X64 from Creative, and I have modified the setting to bypass onboard decoding. Is there anything else I need to do? Online documentation talks about applications that I don't seem to have. Is there a X64-compatible application I need to run to get this to work? Thanks.
    George

Okay Robert, I downloaded and installed your 6.25 drivers and they work fine. However, the Audigy 4 pro software, http://files.filefront.com/Pax+Audig.../fileinfo.html, does not install anything but drivers, no software applications. I looked on your board and could not find any definati've method for resolving this problem.
Perhaps you or someone else who is familiar with installing the software apps would care to provide a detailed solution.

  • Audigy Gamer hardware accelerated or not??

    Hi there friends!!
hey! My first post here and asking for some help My english is quite bad so I will try my best. I just bought a Sound Blaster "Audigy () Gamer" used to a friend for replace the onboard Soundmax AC97 of my ASUS A7V8X-X mobo. I disable that one on BIOS and I installed the Audigy Gamer with the latest drivers (Sound Blaster Audigy, Audigy 2 series and Audigy 4 series Driver 02.09.006) all went fine. I test the sound with DXDIAG and all test went fine BUT here my question, the hardware acceleration is working fine? I ask this because in ONE part of the DX 9.0c settings table it says "software" and in all the others says "hardware"
please check this screen capture I take of that "problem" here :
    http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/6834/audigy2pw.jpg
(main text in spanish but is the same dxdiag that you use to see there...)
check that "Default Port Acceleration" figures "Enabled" (Aceleracion Predet. del puerto: Habilitado -in spanish-)
so... those settings are fine like that? is normal to see "software" there but the card is really using FULL hardware acceleration?
just want to make sure my card is installed and working well with all features...
I try the game "Armed Assault" and the sounds are MUCH nicer and clear with this card, I didn?t hear anymore the "popping" I use to have with the onboard card (yeah!) so that make me think that the hardware acceleration have to be running ok helping the CPU to handle better the game sounds... but that is just a thought.
thanks for any help with this doubt I have with this used, old but nice card....
    cya!

Don't worry that tab is only for DirectMusic, the hardware synths on SB cards use soundfonts and can be accessed via?standard?MIDI but even those have nothing to do with games nowadays.

  • Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro - ...trying to record with Videostudio, Virtual VCR, Roxio DVD Builder

...just bought (and installed) a SoundBlaster Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro - the one with the "breakout box" - to replace the on-board Dell audio sound system, which seems to have died after 4 months.
I am able to get good, clear sound from any and all applications that use "playback" audio.
At present, I can get "playback sound" from one program feature that came with my capture device - an Aver Media USB 300, which was plugged in to the "Line in 2" socket on the break out box. Then I tried to record with it... - "Record Operation Failure!" I'm stilll waiting to see what responses I get from the Aver message board in that regard.
Then I tried recording video (and the accompanying audio) with Ulead Videostudio 8, Virtual VCR, and Roxio DVD Builder, none of which could record sound, even in "preview mode". Before the on board sound system stopped functioning, those features worked on all of the above programs except for Virtual VCR, which I hadn't yet installed or tried out.
I've checked the Play/Record Volume Control in "Accessories/Entertainment" and the Line 2 is activated and selected. I've tried plugging in to Line /Mic but that hasn't worked either. I need to go to Radio Shack to get an adapter to plug in to Line 3 and give that a try.
But before I spend even more money, have you ever seen anything like this?
    - Jeff.

    Jorge,
Thanks kindly for the suggestion, during the installation it did not complain about this patch being installed allready, I'll give this one more shot and see if it persits.
I ran memtest on the machine (10 cycles) wow this thing (G5) is loud in single user mode. I guess the fans don't have power management enabled.
I'm guessing that the issue is from lack of RAM, (512) but I am not 100% on this. Though my research points towards that, It's kind of odd that an app would reach into some other memory segment.
    Thank You Again.
I throught all Tiger updates would be obtainable via "Software Update" . I should have searched support.apple.com first.

  • Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro in Vista x64: "Skipping" (Distortion) when record

Hi! I've just setup Vista x64 and installed the latest Drivers for my Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro. Besides the fact that there's no software available for convenient control of the features of my soundcard (Surround Mixer, Speaker Settings, THX Console etc.), everything is fine for playback (after adjusting the bass and treble-sliders to their 0dB-Position!). But I've got a massive problem when recording audio, or when using the microphone: I can play back sound from any source without distortion, but when recording it or using the microphone for VoIP-Applications like Skype, Teamspeak or In-game communication, I get a constant "skipping" distortion like the clicking when a CD is defective and skips.
It sounds like short disruptions which come at regular, very short intervals (approx. 0 per second or so). This effect is always present, irrespective of the load situation of the system and does not change with it. In XP32, my Audigy 2ZS still works like a charme. Furthermore, I've got a "PCI Input Device" in Device Manager with a question mark, although the Firewire-Port does work. Could this be the Gameport not beeing recognised But that's not nearly as problematic as the flaw from above... Thanks in advance for your advice!

I'd like to also add that I have been observing this same problem for quite some time now. While I do not frequently have a need to record, that is changing now and I would rather not have to reboot to Windows XP in order to have functional recording capabilities.
I am currently running a dual-boot configuration of Windows XP/SP2 and Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit/SP, with the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum soundcard, and the latest drivers available for the card as of today's date (0/7/2008).
A clip of audio to illustrate the problem may be heard by saving and playing the MP3 file found at http://ambress.com/audigy/audio_recording_fault.mp3. The following graphic also illustrates how the sound is like a series of recorded pulses, making recording completely useless.
I would greatly appreciate any feedback confirming this problem by Creative and what solution is available or when one is to be expected. If a solution is known by any users that perhaps I have missed in searching the forum, of course I'd be grateful for that help as well.
    Thank you,
    Daryl

  • Audigy 4 non-pro, multimedia probl

    Hi there,
Got the Audigy 4 non-pro card, and I'm sticking with it for a long time... but it does have a few problems, I was hoping some of you may have the same problems and could help me. The first one may not be a problem with the card itself.
The thing is, I have a certain DVD-title that has Linear PCM Stereo and DTS-Digital 5. Surround soundtracks. The stereo works fine (let's say in Windows Media Player), but when I switch to DTS (hoping for a surround experience), there is no sound! I am able to have surround sound with most DVDs, although it's usually Dolby Surround. Do I need special software to play DTS soundtracks? I know that PowerDVD (or whatever its' name) has to be upgraded for DTS, but the Windows Media PLayer does have a DTS logo thing, when I play it, but there is no sound!
The other problem seems to be more serious.
When I work with MIDI, or play MIDI files, there's a strange lock-up of the system, although on an irregular basis. Sometimes, suddenly, instantaneously, everything stops, and there is a sustained and quiet MIDI sounds, as though the last notes are held, and the system is in a state of complete lock-up. Does anyone have a problem with taht? Or a solution, even better!
    Cheers.

I think you should try some modded driver. It will provide better sound. Try these following links and find out which driver will give your favorite sound. But remember to back up your system (system restore is a good choice before doing so)
