Audigy HD Software Edition quest

I've been shopping for a laptop, and noticed this option from Dell. I planned to get a 24-bit external Li've! card or a audigy NX from ebay before I saw it
I have a Audigy 2 ZS in my desktop (that I'm getting rid of) right now. Does the software edition sound as good? It's not a gaming laptop, so I don't care if it takes CPU cycles.

Your best bet for a laptop would be the PCMCIA Audigy 2 ZS. This features the same hardware processing features like the Audigy 2 ZS. If you have a newer laptop, then you may also want to see the X-Fi XtremeAudio ExpressCard. It isn't hardware, but it's software engine may sound better than the Audigy in games.

  • HELP PLEASE? Can I install SB Fatal1ty Pro software/ drivers over SB Audigy 2 software drive

Hey guys! My name is Glenn and heres?my story! I have the SB Audigy 2 on my computer for the last 5 ?years +. I also had it connected to a 300 watt Panasonic surround sound reciever via the digital out to the recievers "coax in" for my DVD/ Gaming and it worked great. Then?my Panasonic finally took a dump!?So.....time to buy a upgraded surround system! Yeah! So I bought a 000 watt LG 5. system and it sounds GREAT, when played from the LG receiver! Unfortunatley the only digital in it has is a optical TosLINK. So I figure after looking at the Creative SB website it's tme to buy a Digital I/O module and I'll be good to go.......WRONG!?My I/O module gets here, I plug it into the digital out on my SB Audigy 2 card and a BIG NOTHING! So since I was using the Windows XP drivers with my SB sound card I figure if I intall the Audigy 2 software maybe the software will have a digital output fix, so I do a system restore point prior to installing the SB software (figuring just in case of emergency I can roll? my system back)and then I installed the SB Audigy 2 software. Again a big NOT! So after more research it looks like it is not compatable! ARRRRGGGGHHHHH!So time for a sound card upgrade with Digital I/O module compatability, hence I now?own the?SB Fatalty Professional card as of yesterday. So before I?install the new card I set about removing all the old SB software. So I'm cool TILL?I try to remove the SB Audigy 2 software! [color="#ff3300">BAM! I get that stupid "Unhandled Exception Error number 0x8004020"?screen at the 65% unistall mark!!!!!!!!! Well now I'm pissed! I read on the internet and IN THIS FORUM that the only way to get it off?is the "safeboot" mode" method?from the europe forum and guess what.......your right......it doesn't work!!!!!!! I tried every which way but NO GO! I also tried to do several system restores and now it will not even restore to any previous time !!!!!! [size="4" color="#ff0000">I'M GETTING MORE AND MORE PISSED! You would think after all this time since the first issue popped up regarding this uninstall? problem Creative would have FIXED THIS! It isn't a Windows issue! No other program I have EVER uninstalled has done this, they just uninstall, but ohhhhhhhhhh not?CREATIVES SOFTWARE!?So what can I do guys??? If I leave? the SB Audigy 2 program software on the computer in the add/remove window will the new ?SB Fatalty Professional automatically overwrite or remove?the Audigy 2 ?program software or will stay there and?cause a conflict!!!!!!!! Any help .....PLEASE! I'm at my wits end!!!!!!!!!Message Edited by Ztruth on 03-25-20070:07 PM

  • Dell Audity HD Software edit

I have a new Dell laptop with Integrated SB Audity HD software edition. The computer does not have the option to record "what you hear" only the "CD" and "Line in" options are available. What can I do to start recording "what you hear"

asurania,Please tone it down, there is no need to get abusi've. Please read the red announcement that is at the top of every board, it details the purpose of this forum. It is for user interaction, not direct support.Support for onboard audio is normally done by the provider of the system, in this case Dell. It's possible the audio chip you have does not support that option.CatMessage Edited by Catherina-CL on -24-2006 0:30 AM

  • Voice Editing Quest

    I just need some direction.
This might sound a bit clipped, but I am at wits end. I have searched and searched for a way to record voice and have it sould like it is coming over an old 2-way radio. Such as plane to plane, or on an intercom. I have spent way too much time on what should be a simple project. Web searches turn up tons of information related to making me sound like a rock star. Not squat on how to make voice recordings sound like an old 2-way radio transmission. I have been unable to find anything to help.
I have NO experience in music or sound editing beyond fiddling with the stock settings. What I need are simple instructions on settings, or an add-on that would allow me to narrate into my mic and have it sound like an intercom/2-Way radio voice (Prefered). A plugin for my sound card software or something. A place to find help, but something related to my search. I have the Audigy 2 ZS sound card.
    Thanks,
    Jim

Well the easiest and most economically efficient way to do it would be to simply pick up a two way radio set from radio shack for like 20 bucks, put a mic up to one of them and talk into the other. You could always return them when your done! : )
Doing it on your PC would require getting some rather expensi've software sampler with which you could convert the sample to lo-fi and maybe add a little distortion. Some of them might even have a setting that will create just that sound your looking for. But belei've me, most of them have a pretty step learning curve.
I would suggest going with option one. It will give you the exact sound your looking for and be the cheapest way to go.
    good luck!

  • Audigy AUD_EXT 'line out' questi

I found the details for the pin assignments on the AUD_EXT connector for my Audigy card. Using this information I was able to connect an old SP-DIF connector (with optical & coaxial outputs) from an old motherboard to my Audigy, and I'm now using the digital output connector to put sound to my speakers.
What I'd like to do now is make up a front 3.5mm headphone jack and mount it to my case. However, the instructions here: <A href="]http://dmzweb4.europe.creative.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=72,E=0000000000084728396,K=8924,Sxi=2,Case=obj (3026),Kb=ww_english_add,VARSET=ws:http://uk.europe.creative.com[/url]
(Creative knowledge base solution ID # 3026) don't specifically list an analogue output. Pins 0, , & 3 are listed as 'general purpose output', but that could mean just about anything. If anyone has any ideas as to which, if any, of the AUD_EXT pins are suitable for left, right, and ground for a 3.5mm stereo jack please let me know.
Oh, and if there's the possibility of a stereo 'line in' as well, that would be great too.

You have A/D converter(s) on that dri've bay --> analog signal(s) is converted to digital there --> Audigy card gets signal in digital format from dri've bay.
For headphone out, there is D/A converter and opamp on dri've bay --> audigy sends signal in digital format to dri've bay and the signal is converted to analg signal there.
    From digi-life's review:
<i>"It should be noted that, unlike in the Game Theater XP from Hercules, a signal proceeds to the external Audigy Dri've unit and back only in a digital mode. And it is very good! I.e. the external module has its own separate converters! There are 2 Philips chips UDA36T which serve an ADC. The DAC is marked as stereo XWM8728 (compatible with SACD, 24bit/92kHz format) from Wolfson."</i>

  • Audigy 2 OEM sound quest

I have a Audigy 2 value oem sound card.
Do anyone have a audigy 2 value sound card? Do you guys experience hissing noise on this card? Also I feel this card cannot take high level treble signal in music, even with my Sennheiser PX00. This is suppose to be a good head phone. I feel audigy 2 value is even not as good as the onboard sound. Is this because of this particular piece of card I have or it's because audigy 2 value suck?

    Hello
I have the same card Too.
i have no problems with hissing. My problems are in very different aspects. With very low level of background effects in some games ( UT2004, Colin Mcrae 04) Infact with all games i have tried on My PC. These effects are weak in EAX console too. All other sounds are good.
I have problems with Dolby Digital EX decoder too. When I play DVD-Video I've heard sound only from rear speakers. when I check the field to hear rear speakers from rear and side speaker it is no effect.
I don't know wath to do. I have usin latest di'vers, eax console, and winXP SP2.
    Thanks in advance!!!

  • Audigy 2 ZS accessories questi

Tomshardware.com write "The possibilities offered by this card can be extended further if you buy an internal rack that can be linked via the extension connector on the card, using the same arrangement offered by Creative's earlier cards. In the case of the ZS, the internal rack is only available if purchased online (over the internet)."
Whats the full thing about? I was not able to find it on creative.com someone got link?

Jason-CL wrote:Jwiede, The Li've! Dri've bay is meant to support Li've and Audigy series sound card. Audigy 2 series sound card I'm afraid is not compatible with the Li've! Dri've as it is built with a different platform. Jason
    Jason,
Can you please clarify what you mean by "it is built with a different platform"?
What is the technical reason why supporting the connections provided by the Li've!Dri've unit, using a connector whose wiring hasn't appeared to substantially changed between the Audigy and Audigy2, cannot be supported on the Audigy2 ZS?
As I noted in my prior post, the raw hardware connections between the external jacks on the Li've!Dri've, following the traces and through the ribbon cable, seem to attach to the proper locations on the Audigy2 ZS' connector (compared to the connections of an Audigy2 ZS Platinum dri've-bay unit).
Gi'ven that, there doesn't appear to be any reason the Audigy2 ZS can support the Platinum unit but cannot support the Li've!Dri've every bit as easily. The only platform difference appears to be in the logic by which the Platinum unit adds additional connections above and beyond the much simpler added connectivity provided by the Li've!Dri've.
If the only difference is that the ZS' software just won't recognize the Li've!Dri've, then as I noted before, the actual "incompatibility" is just that Creative wants customers to repurchase new front-panel units with each new sound card generation, both a seriously redundant waste of money and of time to tear apart and reconfigure their systems.
As all the additional ports I care about exist in the Li've!Dri've, being forced to buy a Audigy2 ZS Platinum simply to repurchase those connections I already purchased once (and presumably would have to buy again and again as you seem to have dropped cross-generation compatibility of those front-panel units) strikes me as revenue enhancement at the cost of customers.
Will the Audigy2 ZS Platinum unit be usable in the following generations of Creative SoundBlaster audio cards beyond just the Audigy2? Or will you instead force customers to purchase front-panel units (at substantial additional and redundant expense, given minimal technical merits) with each new generation of card?
I suspect the answer is the latter (with all the customer-hostile reasoning it implies), but would be pleasantly surprised to hear otherwise.

  • SB Audigy 2 software probl

I seem to have accidently messed up the software for my Audigy 2 card, no matter what the surround mixer doesnt work mediasource go displays an CTCMS.exe error message everytime I try to turn it on and when I click on the white and blue speaker icon it shows a blank tiny box and the taskbar displays "creative volume control". When I click on creative volume control the taskbar window disappears every time. I wish I could wipe the Creative stuff off my PC and start fresh.

  • Software Editing Issue

I am using CS4 and i am trying to continue editing a project and it keeps freezing up and not responding, causing me to havce to close the program, but when I reopen, and start to edit, it does the same thing.
Also, there is a gold bar that keeps generating in the lower right hand corner and it says, "Generating Peak File for 2009-05-21 13.20.26 Jim Ho...", which is piece of video footage I was going to use, but did not and did clear from the project.
Why is this happening, as I have done many projects and never had this happen until now?

    Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, you have posted a CS 4 question to the CS 5 - CS 6 Forum, and maybe a MOD can Move this for you.

  • Audigy 2 zs platinum quest

Whenever I play a game and join a server that has voice on it my mic input stops working and people cant hear me in the server and ventrilo. I plug my mic into the front panel line 2, what I do to fix this is just rejoin ventrilo but it gets annoying to myself and others when I have to tab out and rejoin ventrilo every time. I know I could just plug my mic into my sound card but then I couldnt adjust my mic volume from the front ;/
    any suggestions?

    hate,
Some games/software don't actually support the Mic/Line In 2 port and they are set to default back to the main microphone input source. You can check with the game manufacturer if they have ways to tweak the Mic In setting within the game. If not, you can try 3rd-party software that can lock down those setting. Look at this thread, it has some information for tweaking CS(if you're playing that) and some 3rd-party software link.

  • Software Editing Advice

I am very new to video editing. I started using Macs about a year ago. Right now, I am using and intel-based Mac book pro.
I would like to start creating videos from DVD and other assorted AVI files in order to post movies on YouTube. My question: Is Final Cut Express HD overkill? I have been playing with iMovie and GarageBand and iPhoto, but I have a feeling I will want to go beyond their limitations. Basically, I want to edit video and music to create movies.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Is Final Cut Express HD overkill?
I would think that FCE is the logical step forward.
