Audigy LS - EQ Level Adjustments Don't Alter So

Hello all,
I have the Audigy LS card. I have enabled the EQ through the Creative software. I am able to move the levels up and down for each frequency, but the changes have no effect on the sound. For example, I can move all levels the entire way up or the entire way down and it does not change the sound at all. Any help would be appreciated.

Okay, I found out my problem. My audio source is the line in. Apparently, the equalizer has no impact on sounds from line in. I am assuming this because the EQ works fine on MP3 playback. Now I need to find out if there's any way to EQ sound where the source is the line in.

After upgrading to Mavericks, F14/F15 brightness adjustments don't work. The screen appears to be "locked" at the dimmest brightness level. How do I adjust the brightness?

I am home now and I just confirmed that I have a brightness control slide in my Sys Pre---> Display. However, this for my Apple Cinema display. When I was using another name brand, this wasn't available to me. Nor could I use F1 and F2.
I also went to Sys Pre---> Keyboard---> Shortcuts---> Display---> Changed those values to F5 and F6, since they were free for me. And they were able to change the brightness for me. Went to test them, and I was just given that error chim and nothing on the display changed.
So I went on down the list... Accessibility---> checked Contrast and changed those to F5 and F6. Ahhh, now I can change that. Now I know that I can use the F5 and F6 for something.
I know that you are talking about brightness, but double check the Contrast settings to see if you were mistaking the two. After years of setting my TV with Video Essentials, I still get the two mixed up from time to time.

Files render, but adjustments don't show when exported or printed

Hello all,
Running Lightroom 2.2 on Mac OS 10.4
I'm experiencing some very odd behavior from a few files (originally NEFs converted to DNG; all from the same shoot/card). I am able to render adjustments in the Develop module but then two very odd things happen.
First, when I zoom to 1:1 preview the rendered changes do not appear; the file reverts to it's original state.
Secondly, and most importantly, when I export the files as a jpeg (whether from the Library, Develop, or Print module) the rendered changes do not appear and the file reverts to its original state. Again, same issue if I try to print the file -- the adjustments don't come through.
To further the mystery, this is only happening to a few files and I am able to manipulate the others and export them just fine. FURTHERMORE, when I open the same files on another computer that's running LR 1.4, I am able to edit and render the files AND see the changes upon export.
Any ideas?

Duplicate the files in another folder, import them with 'do not import
duplicates' turned off in the import dialog, or import them into a
'test' catalog and see if they'll work. That'll narrow down whether
it's possibly a catalog glitch, and therefore how to solve it.

Group Level adjustments not required for consolidation report

HI Experts,
The requirement is as below:

My client want to post some adjustment entries at Group level after consolidation, but he need a report With and without the consolidation entries.
I.E. one balance sheet and PNL with the group level adjustments and another balance sheet and PNL without Group level adjustments.
Requirement: 2
Every period his manual entries are more than 240 and during year end it will go till 300.
As it is difficult to post these many entries manually, Client is asking for any upload functionality. Need some inputs on how to acheive this BCS.

I agree with Eugene, you can't just create a user-defined posting level. The available posting levels are pre-defined by SAP in the UC00 type pool.

The virtual cube logic wouldn't know how to address a custom posting level without a number of core changes.

Enabling (checking) Levels adjustments alone already changes image

Have a look at this. First image, straight out of the box, new version from master with no adjustments whatsoever done by me:

At a first glance, simply checking the Levels adjustment section, seems to do something similar as applying a little bit of the 'Shadows' adjustment. It mainly seems to recover some detail in dark areas.
Further analysis of the png screenshots in Photoshop reveals that no (new) detail was actually recovered. Differences that were between [0 1 0] and [1 4 1] were 'enlarged' to [0 5 0] vs. [5 15 5] making them actually visible.
As you can also see in the screenshots the histogram is also moved a little bit away from the left edge (in line with the visual differences).
A couple of questions:
1) What the heck is going on? Is this a feature or a bug?
2) My (professional) printing lab, already charging $2 per print, seems to print everything below [15 15 15] as what looks to me pure black. I am asking myself whether using the Levels tool (which I do on most images) brightens up the dark areas (and/or increasing the contrast there) in such a way that the dark areas look fine onscreen but too dark when printed on photographic paper.

I have tested an Aperture installation on a Mac Pro in a local Apple retailer. The problem is not visible there, ie, no discernable change to the image (no brightening) as the Levels checkbox is checked. The histogram changes all so slightly, so little that I attribute it just as an effect of numerical rounding.
The staff suggested that the main difference between my system (MacBook Pro 2.33, 256 MB VRAM) and the Mac Pro is the graphic card. This could mean a bug in the graphic card or a bug in Aperture that only manifests itself with certain graphic cards.
I should add that none of the (~20) computer in the store had a calibrated display. My display is calibrated with the Huey, the differences in dark areas of an images are almost always much less discernable on a non-calibrated display.

Aperture adjustments don't sync to iphone or ipad

Any adjustments - color, crop, etc - made to previously synced albums or projects don't update on the iPhone or iPad. Why would iTunes intentionally sync just the master and never versions, especially while not making it an option? When streamed, like to Apple TV, iTunes sends the latest version.
All software on all devices is the most current version/update.

I've tried all the suggestions around updating previews, etc with no success. Deleting the iPod cache each time is kinda silly. Any thoughts or suggestions would be very helpful! I find this to be a very frustrating little feature that Apple has thrown in
I think I'll try syncing with iPhoto, as it's a shared library now. Perhaps that will solve (kind of) the problem.

If you have iTunes Match then iTunes does not sync with your iOS devices. All syncing is done directly to iTunes Match, which does not see your playlists. See this article for an explanation -

Video adjustments don't carry over into iDVD 08

I have been attempting to move my iMovie 08 projects over to iDVD via Share>Media Browser, and this works, but the brightness/contrast/saturation adjustments that I've made in my iMovie Project do not show up when I import the movie via the Media Browser into iDVD. Instead, what I get is the original video settings, which are too dark. Everything else carries over, including cuts that I've made in the project window, but not the video appearance adjustments.
Why won't iDVD accept the iMovie video adjustments?

Update: I tried "sharing" my project to iTunes in mp4 format. That worked fine. The brightness adjustments were there, the movie looked good in iTunes. However, when I dragged it into iDVD and played it back, it was dark again!!! Further, I tried exporting the project to Quicktime, and even in the Quicktime viewer it had reverted to the too dark original! I really don't understand this. Why can't I make brightness adjustments in iMovie that will stick, and be useful in iDVD?

ITunes Video Levels Adjustments

I imported some videos into iTunes (thru multiple and lengthy conversions in Cleaner & iTunes) to play on my iPod and the black levels are way high. In other words, black looks light gray.
Now in QT, you can adjust the contrast of a qt and then re-save it. Which in a sense, levels out the blacks. But I wanted to know if there was a way to do this in iTunes. Otherwise I'd have to make the adjustments and then re-encode everything again for ipod playback.

Sorry that I did not fully clarify this, but my issue is not within my iTunes Library, but rather within the iTunes store itself. Ever since they have changed the layout a few releases back you have limited viewing options for search results. Unless I am still missing something I cannot adjust the size of the heading columns within iTunes store. Most of the time this is not an issue, but every so often it is a problem searching for songs with long titles or multiple artists. An easy remedy seems to be expanding the iTunes window as wide as it goes, but even this does not help in all cases and you are forced to hover over the field to view the whole descriptions. Not a huge issue, but small feature I enjoyed having control over in the original versions of the iTunes store much like you within your music library.

Transition and Still Clip Time Adjustments Don't Work Correctly

When I have a group of still photos and transitions in a movie along with a music track I can't seem to get the transitions or the clips to keep a time setting I apply using the "Transition Adjustments" drop-down menu.
I put in 2.9s and when I click "Done" they all become 3.4s. When I try to change the transition time same thing, 0.9s becomes 0.6s.
There must be something obvious I'm missing in the overall approach to times with a music clip or not? I tried removing the music clip entirely in case it was pinning the time of each clip cumulatively to the music, but same thing with no music.

Actions not recording curve/levels adjustments or presets

I'm trying to record an action in Photoshop CC, but it seems to refuse to record adjustments or the selection of a saved preset.
All I get when I play the action, is a new curves or levels layer without my adjustments.
Hope someone can help.

I am having the exact same problem. Other adjustment layers when changed record a "set current layer" but loading a preset or making a change on the curve is not being recorded at all. Tried deleting my prefs and that didn't solve anything. Would love an answer to this!

ADJUSTMENTS DON'T STAY

WHEN I EDIT A PHOTO IN LIGHTEROOM THE CHANGES THAT I MADE TO THE PHOTO DON'T STAY. WHY IS THAT?

Just after my last reply, which involved waiting two hours on the telephone for tech
support to answer, the support tech answered just as I was shutting down. We discussed this for another hour which involved her connecting live to my PC where she could physically see and acknowledged the differences in the image between the library and develop modules. I showed her how this impacted other photos.
Ultimately, there was no satisfactory answer. The discussion ended with questions like did I somehow alter the digital files? Except for working with them in LR2, no.
I replied to my original email from tech support with a copy of my digital negative and a copy of an exported jpeg which clearly shows the image appearing in library. I asked to be assigned to someone who will work with me in good faith.
So, as of right now the saga continues, and I will check my other blog on the nikonian site as well. Total telephone time is 4.5 hours of which just over one hour was working with a human. Adobe has very nice hold time music.
In answer to the original question, they did ask me to alter the preferences file but the instruction on the next step was not clear. Still waiting on that to be expanded upon via an email reply.

SAP Note-post-upgarde adjustments done manually now want to reset

I have done post upgrade adjustments for a program using split screen editor to change to new SAP Orignal. Now this is creating inconsistencies with other programs. How can I reset back the changes I made.

In 3.2, adjustments don't appear when moving back to library module from develop module.

I just upgraded to 3.2. When I make a series of adjustments in the develop module, the adjustments do not carry over to the library module. This did not happen with 3.0. In 3.0, the most recent adjustment made would be how the image would appear in the library module. Now, only the original import, without adjustments, appears in the library module. Even if I make a snapshop to the image, the adjustments do not seem to carry over back to the library module. When I go back to the develop module, all of the adjustments are still there, but what is initially seen is the image as it had originally been imported. I shoot in RAW (NEF for Nikon), and have a MAC 10.6.4. Never had this problem before the upgrade. Help.

I will try these two suggestions, bur first two questions: Are you suggesting that I select the image in the library and then zoom in and out, or are you suggesting that I zoom in and out while the image is still in the develop module after I have made a series of adjustments to the image? Perhaps I am ignorant, but I am not sure what you mean by making a preview image. All of the images when imported into light room are standard previews. Thanks for your help.

Signal level lights don't light up even when wifi is connected

I have a new MBP (the Core 2 Duo one). When I'm connected to a wifi access point, the Signal Level lights in the Internet Connect window never light up. Anyone else seen anything like this? I suppose it's not a huge deal, since I'm getting a connection OK. It's just that I'm curious how good my connection is. And it seems strange they'd make these nice little fake LEDs but then not use them.

MOH db level adjustments

After numerous trials and errors, I finally identified my problem of why the db level on MOH wasn't changing after so many parameter changes, so many translations: the newly-translated files have to be MANUALLY copied into the TFTPPATH folder. For a long time, I thought this process was totally automatic. DUH!
Does anyone have a better procedure, or have I utilized the everyday procedure that the whole world knows - except me? Thanks and good luck.
