Audigy LS freezing prob

While I am playing Half Life 2, my game always freezes up with a looping sound. I know for fact that it is the sound card because when I turned off my sound card in the game, the game ran flawlessly. How can I fix this problem so I can play the game and have sound without it freezing up?

I never have had a freezing problem when i played half life 2 with my Audigy LS and that was when i had my old AMD Athlon XP 700+ w/ my Asus A7n266vm motherboard and a Radeon 9200. I don't think drivers are at fault.

Hello, i am using a Creative Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro soundcard and whilst in playback my computer keeps freezing. I have used different software to see if it was that but both freeze in playback. I use media source and windows media player. I have Used Ad-Aware to remove any spyware and antivirus software to clarify there is not viral threat conflicting with my soundcard.
I use usb for a USB internet connection and the other for a plug and play USB Midi controller. Could this be interfering?

  • RS480M2 and Audigy 2 freeze problem

Is there somehow who is able to run an Audigy 2 on a RS480M2 board?
I've done some googleing to realize that no one seems to be able to run an Audigy 2 on that board. After some time (10 minutes, 1 hours, some hours, etc.), the computer freezes. Some are talking about conflicts between the onboard LAN controller and the Audigy 2 both nobody made the combination work even when tweaking devices IRQ. Do somehow know how to make this work? Is there a way to disable the onboard LAN? It's not a very good solution, but I would still be able to use my Audigy 2.
    My setup:
    Antec 1080Amg (430W)
    AMD64 3000+
    MSI RS480M2
    Audigy 2
1 Gig Corsair Value Select DDR400 Dual Channel
    Raptor 74 Gig
As you see, the Audigy 2 causes problem with just the onboard peripherals.
Thanks for all your comments. I hope that MSI support is aware of that problem.

I have an RS480M2-IL and I'm running an Audigy 2 Platinum EX with no sound card issues so far.  I didn't do anything exotic in my BIOS settings.  I have some other problems but they are not sound card related.  The card is installed in the farthest slot from the CPU.  I had to use an adaptor to get the extra supply cable to the card because the ANTEC Aria doesn't come with a floppy power connector on the PSU.  I have  the external module installed as well with Firewire and MIDI ports and remote control all working.
The card works for Cubasis/Soundfonts and VST plugins such as Crystal and Supersaw.  It's much more responsive in this system than in my old PIII system especially for Crystal (a very CPU demanding additive synthesizer).  I am using on board video (64MB) and LAN.  FSB is 1000MHz.
I can do a detailed check of my BIOS settings if you want.
The install of all of the Audigy S/W was not clean.  I migrated my hard disk from my old PC and re-instaled WINXP over what was already there so this is not a ground up build (I'm kind of surprised that it works).
    Let me know.

  • Audigy 2 Freezes sys

Since I reinstalled my entire system, I've been having problems with the front panel of my Audigy2 platinum card. While installing drivers, the whole system just freezed, so I tried formatting my HDD (2 times). Nothing happened. I remind you that the problem occured while I was installing audigy 2 drivers (I tried both new and old ones). Eventually, I disconnected the front panel and the problem dissapeared, but I DO WANT to use the front panel, after all, that's one of the reasons I paid 4 the freakin' card a lot more.
I have Fujitsu Siemens scaleo 800:

    Suggestions.... ?

How did you contact Customer Support? By e-mail or phone? If you're referring to not getting a customer-support-response on this forum I'll have to direct you to the red announcement that is at the top of every board. This is not a support forum.
Regarding your problem, what kind of power supply is in your system? Did you try disconnecting your floppy (if you have one) and using that power connection to connect to the dri've?

  • Audigy Platinum Freezes in

I just did the upgrade from 98 SE to win XP and even installed SP2. I then went and installed the latest drivers from Creative. Now I have some real problems.
The computer , Dell P4, Nvidia GE force 4 MX 420, 52 Meg RAM, ran fine with Win 98SE. Under Win Xp, everything runs fine until I try to play sound. Any kind of sound from a program, Cd, Mp3 etc. will freeze it up and then it gives off this high whining pitch sound. Sometimes even the sound from my email program will lock up the computer. The only way out is to turn it off.
Been reading all the posts and FAQs I can find, But I can't find anyone with a similar problem.
There are no conflicts in the system resources and I even disabled some of the hardware that was sharing the IRQ to no avail.
    Can anyone help?

    Hi
Dell might use it's own version of drivers for Audigy.
Dell has some BIOS -upgrades to resolve these Audigy freezing problems - check your PC model and go to -
    DELL -support pages
There is this 'SOD' -thread you might want/need to look.

  • Audigy 4 freezes my compu

    Hi!
    Here is my problem:
I bought a new Soundblaster Audigy 4 last friday. I installed it in my PC and made a download of the latest drivers from the Creative homepage. By the way i installed also the whole software package from the Driver CD.
The problem is now that my computer freezes after some time. It does not matter if i'm just on the desktop or playing a game. After 5 or 30 minutes the system hangs up. There is no blue screen or reset, the screen just freezes and i'm not able to do anything else than to push the reset button. Ctrl+Alt+Del does not work!
Without the Audigy my system runs fine! But i'm pretty sure that the card is not defecti've because i've got the same problem with a Soundblaster Li've24bit. Just my old Soundblaster Li've 4. does work.
Before you (hopefully) answer me i would like to describe my hardware and the actions i have already done to solve the problem:
    My PC:
Motherboard Jetway N2PAP Ultra (Nvidia NForce2 Chipset)
    Phoenix award BIOS
    AMD Athlon XP 3000+
    500 DDRAM
    Asus ATI X800pro
    Samsung HDD 20GB
    DVD Burner
    DVD Dri've
    Soundblaster Audigy 4
    350 watt power supply unit
O/S: Windows XP Service Pack 2
    - i did an update of my BIOS and sound drivers
    - my onboard sound is disabled and the drivers uninstalled
    - i did a mem test to check if may RAM is ok (no findings)
Please try to help me and sorry for my english but i'm from Germany.

Are there some HW conflicts showing up (system information/computer managment)?
Are temperatures rising too high, or is there too weak PSU in use?
Have you tried if installing the card into another PCI slot makes any differences (try PCI slot 3)?
Did you try with drivers from CD before updating the latest ones?
Try to install latest drivers using this method.
    Also (BIOS),
    - you can try if setting the AAS (AGP Aperture size) equal with your ATI memory and toggling the "AGP Fast Write" option helps anything.
    - disable all un-needed devices/controllers

  • Audigy Player + DTT3500 prob

    Hi there
Since this week i got a problem with my Audigy Player.
Everytime i test my boxes with the Surround Mixer, i can hear the voice from the front boxes, but from the center and the rear boxes you can hear nothing...
It seems to be a software problem, because all satellites working fine...
I searched this forum and I fond one guy, who had exactly the same problem one year ago :

  • NX 2 Freeze Prob

    Hello all,
I've been experiencing weird problems with my audigy 2 nx(usb).
Basically even with latest drivers or original drivers, it will freeze when using
any directshow output after some random duration. Usually between 30 mins and 2 hours.
When that happends i have to unplug the usb and replug it, which in the process kills the applications that were playing(usually winamp, windows media player or media player classic).
Just to check everything i reinstalled my old SoundBlaster Li've! and everything worked perfectly for 2 days.
Using the onboard audio controller works perfectly too.
Another very frequence cause of freeze is when i jump somewhere else in tracks/videos playing(as in change a track or go somewhere further).
The freeze symptoms are very traditional: sound repeating the same last 300ms or so indefinitely.
I tried 5 different drivers, even tried manually cleaning them, it still freezes.
What am i supposed to do?
    Thanks for any help,
    Paul-Kenji Cahier
EDIT: here is my current configuration
    -AMD X2 dual core 4200+
    -Gigabyte Nforce 4 K8NXP9
    -4x52 Mb DDR-Ram
    -Geforce 6600 GT
-Windows XP SP2(all windows update done)
-No spyware/virus(checked daily)Message Edited by DeathWolf on 04-0-2006 07:23 PM

i thought at first it was directx related
but after a few hours i found out that the wave mapper crashed too
(it would continue to work when directshow sound output didnt work, but it just crashed)
so it has to be something else....

  • Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Recording Prob

I recently re-installed my audigy, and for some reason I cannot get any sound when I plug my guitar into the Line-In on the front. I check the recording/playback setting, and everything seems to be ok. I'm wondering if it might be a problem with the hardware. Any thoughts?

    Dee,
If the card came supplied with the PC, then you may need to contact Dell to get specific drivers or applications for it.
Is the card working correctly now? Is it listed in Device Manager, with no error messages? What did you use to reinstall, was it a CD, or a driver? If it was just a basic driver pack, then it's likely that doesn't include any extra applications.

  • Audigy 2 driver prob

Got this huge problem with the drivers for my audigy 2 card. Just formatted my dri've, clean WinXP install and threw in the latest drivers from this page (includes creative audio console). My problem, I get seriously crappy sound from my center speaker (really low, cant hear voices in movies), and neither can I install the surround mixer, EAX console or the Speaker setting program (which I wanna use to see if my fronter is working allright). I've had lots of trouble with the drivers before (subwoofer not sounding when I config my speakers, drivers just stopped working twice etc etc). I've run the automatic update tool here and it doesnt do me any good. Starting to piss me off, cant install the **bleep** tools, it says "Setup did not detect the required components." when I start the installer, and in that crappy "Audio Console" I cant do anything... Before when I was using Win2k (way better than xp, btw) I had this nice tool (blue window, could manage everything, surround mixer, speaker settings etc), the Audio Console just isnt ANYTHING like it. Using a set of Logitech Z-5300 if thats of any importance ... But even if its my speakers that are faulty, I should at least be able to install the tools to check! I've reinstalled the card several times, no luckMessage Edited by Wortex on 2-02-200606:48 PM

You need to install all software from Creative CD, bundled w/ your card.
If you don't have the CD, check, if BadBoy has this CD in his collection - http://badboy.filefront.com/

  • Audigy 4 mic prob

I cannot get my Sennheiser PC50 mic to work with my audigy 4 sound card in games like CS: Source. No matter what plug I put the mic into it does not work with CS. I can record things in the the EAX console if I use line-in /MIC plug and I have to turn up the volume on the mic with the knob on the right side of the I/O hub. But cannot get it work in games. Anyone know what to do? This is driving me crazy because now I have an expensi've sound card that will not let me do simple things that onboard sound will let me do without any effort.

  • Audigy 4 / Network Prob

I am running a Tyan Thunder K8WE mother board and have 2 7900GTX running in SLI, so they cover the only standard PCI slot so i cant use that (the fans take up a slot to themselves).
My only other options are the PCI-X slots (not PCI-E as thats where the 7900s are) at the bottom of the board. When i plug the card into either of these my oboard network stops working. As soon as i take the card out, my network starts again. I am running Windows XP 64 so i cant change any IRQ settings untill i turn off ACPI, but i have been told if i turn off ACPI, i cant run dual CPUs. Ive gone through these forums, Nvidia's forums (as the board uses nvida dri'ves for the network) Tyans forums and as yet i havent found a solution.
I have changed the bios to only have on what i need and there isnt an old driver issues as i refortmatted and reinstalled after disabling the sound in the bios so the old sound hasnt been installed.
I have read similar posts on these forums about the cards disabling onboard networks, but none have any solutions so i thaught id try.
If i have been missinformed and can run dual CPUs with turning ACPI off, then that means i can change the IRQs and see if thats the problem.
Any help / suggestions are welcome as i've spent a while on this so far trying to get it to work, if it takes too much longer im goin to take it back

  • Audigy 4 feedback prob

I used to have a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz card and I recently switched to an Audigy 4 . (I got the SE version or OEM version - whatever you want to call it) With the old card I would open 2 instances of cool edit and have a file playing in one instance and record it in the other. I had my speaker output running through a compressor then back into the computer in the line in input so I was playing the wave file in one instance and record the line in on the other instance . This always worked fine. With the new card when I do this , if there is no sound coming into the input I get feedback . Once I start to play the wave file it records normally and when the wave ends the feedback starts again. I did notice that with the TB card in play properties I could mute the line in and in record properties I selected line in , but with the Audigy if I mute line in in the play properties it won't record. It's not really a big deal except I get this feedback until I open play properties and mute the line in when I'm done recording. I was wondering if anyone else had this happen or if my card is possibly faulty ? Thanks. I thought I would add I can play and record at the same time without a problem as long as the line in isn't involved . It's only sending the wave out of the computer and back into the line in and recording it from there that I get the feedback.

I beli've you mean this from Steampowerd.
