Audigy SB 2 ZS Platinum Front Panel not working-HELP

Hey everybody. I'm new to this forum, but not to computers. I built my computer about 4-5 months ago, and here are my specs:
Ultra MS Blue Dragon
ASUS P5GD
Intel P4 Processor 3.0GHz
GB GeIL RAM
6600 GT 28MB Video Card
Samsung 20GB SATA HDD
Lite-On and NEC DVD Dri'ves
Ultra X-Connect 500 W PSU
Creative SB Audigy 2ZS Platinum
I got the 2ZS platinum from a friend, but I already had a regular 2ZS. I plugged in his front panel to my old 2ZS. The front panel did not work. I then got his 2ZS, just the sound card, and plugged in the front panel. It still did not work. I installed all the software and drivers, and nothing. My sound card works fine, it is just the front panel that doesnt work. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks a ton,
Derek
P.S. The AD_EXT Cable fell apart a couple of times, but we put it back together. Could that be a problem? If so, where can I get a new AD_EXT Cable?

    I have sound through desktop speakers through the back of the sound card(that works). I had to reinstall the drivers to get that to work. Best buy reinstalled the stuff a week ago so i think the internal stuff is correct. The headphones dont even get static on the front, and it wont read mics. Ive downloaded the lastest drivers, checked to see if stuff was muted. Did i miss a step or is the front just dead. Im recording soom vocals for a band audution and need this working really soon. Please for the love of god help.!!

    Actually I'm having the same problem too here.
    Did all the troubleshooting I could the only thing left is to test the AD_EXT cable.
    Anyone able to give some advise on this?

    Hello,
    I have a fresh install of Win7x64 OEM. First, I want to say that I have "AUTOMATICALLY MUTE SPEAKERS" UNCHECKED under the Headphone detection tab. I have tried "Automatically Enable Headphone Settings" checked or unchecked. No difference.
    As soon as I plug in headphones to the front panel connector , the speakers in the mixer say "disconnected" (see below) and the SPDIF becomes the default output. There is no way for me to change this. And there isn't any sound coming from the headphones when plugged into the front panel. (the mic front panel works fine)
    I am using the nati've Win7 drivers for the card. Apparently the Win 7 drivers on your site are older than the nati've ones.
    This worked fine in Windows XP 32. Any ideas.

    Ok guys this is how I fixed the problem on my X-Fi PCI-Express. Open the Creative SB X-Fi Volume panel. Mine is set in game mode and I have 5 vertical sliders for Line-In /Mic, MIDI Synth, Digital-In, and the last one will say one of three things either Digital-In, Microphone, or Mirophone FP. At the top of the?slider there is a tab which brings up a drop down menu. Mine was default set to Digital-In, I switched it to Mirophone FP (tried Microphone first and it worked but the FP sounds better for me) and cranked it all the way up and my problem was solved. Very frustrating one though as there is no documentation that led me to the fix it was just playing around with it till I could figure it out.
    I hope this at least helps some of you out.

  • Audigy 2 card with Audigy Front Panel not worki

    I've just bought a used audigy 2 card with an audigy front panel. I have installed everything and have sound from the card to my speakers.
    The front panel has a blinking light on the optical out and when I plug headphones into the panel, I can hear static and control the volume of the static from the knob on the panel.
    I can't hear anything else through the headphone jack and can't get any input signal using the line 2 input on the front panel.
    Connections and drivers appear to be OK, am I missing something......
    Thanks,Dave.

    David,
    If you go into the surround mixer or Windows mixer do you see a listing for the front panel inputs (line in2/mic in2, Aux 2, etc)? If so, are any of them muted? If you go to start/programs/Creative/SB Audigy/Audio HQ/Device Settings, do you show a headphone tab? If so what options are enabled in there?
    Double check your ribbon cable connection and maybe even swap sides of the cable.

  • SB X-Fi Titanium Front Panel not working

    Hello,
    I would like to fully use the Front Panel, because I own a 5. Surround sound system blocking all the backpanel slots. The problem is, that I simply get no sound from the front panel sound output, while the microfone works just fine. Is there some kind of special option to enable it's
    The FP is properly plugged into my SB X-Fi Titanium. And it's also not broken, because the FP works perfectly with my onboard soundchip (though it seems to cause crackling in my headphones, so I cannot use it for it).
    ... Okay now the Mic FP is not working aswell, eventhough it did when I tried it the last time. I set everything I could, like choosing Headphone Mode, enabling FrontPanel everywhere and all that. So why is it still not working?
    RIG: Win XP 32bit

    normal Stereo Headset
    Thanks in advance for any help!

    Ofcourse that was something I did not know before I bought the soundcard. I am quite sure it is an AC 97 Front Panel, but how can I verify that?
    Seems like I will have to sell this soundcard.
    - The plugs from my 5.1 sound system are quality plugs and are rather big and so they barely fit, because the audio jacks (not sure about the correct english term here, i mean the holes from the soundcard, where you plugin the soundsystem) are sitting way too close together (expected more for that price..).
    - It doesn't support my Case's Front Panel.
    - And the soundcard is sitting directly before my Graphic Card's fan (because it uses PCI-E), causing heat.
    I guess there is no way around it. I will probably get a new graphic card at christmas and it's most likely going to be bigger than my ATI 4850HD. And I simply do not have the space for a bigger graphic card AND a soundcard, that uses PCI-E. So I guess the best solution is to sell it and buy a soundcard that uses normal PCI and supports AC 97, right? Or what would you recommend?
    Until then, is there an easy and cheap way to upgrade my ac97 front panel to Intel HD Front Panel Audio?
    thanks

  • MSI 180 front panel not working in both modes

    hi,
    I bought a msi mega 180 with AMD cpu, works quite nice for a barebone
    Now the problem is the front panel doesn't work anymore. It worked before, but now it doesn't work anymore. I think nothing is changed.
    I thougt the panel was broken, so I replaced it by a new version at an officiele msi distributor in NL, I placed the new panel. But nothing happened on that panel, on pc and hifi mode.
    So I think the barebone is broken, anyone can tell what to try before I can conclude the barebone (motherboard) is broken?
    btw, it's connected by 2 connectors, 1 looks like an audo connector the other one looks like a normal connector to me.

    Hi,
    I don’t think the front panel or the main board is broken I think its something else we haven’t figured out and MSI not willing to help us... I have Mega 865 and I have been having the same problem for almost 3 weeks now... sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t in both modes everything else will work normal except LCM.
    Once it works will work perfectly until I unplug the power from the computer then LCM display will not start.
    The problem begins when a hardware is installed the first time to get the problem I had just installed a pinnacle TV tuner when I took it off it came back the second time i installed a DVD rom but when I took it out still didn’t work I removed almost everything checked all cables and changed memory couldn’t get it work then I decided to put back everything TV card, DVD-rom, same memory back and still didn’t. Since it had happened before i was not convinced that it was broken then the second day I put the computer on and it worked on its own.. Now it works when ever it feels for it and take the day whenever.
    Let me know if you find anything helpful.

  • Japanese font on Front Panel not working

    Hi,
    I am new on using LV and finds out that whenever I type a Japanese character, it shows garbage text.
    System:
    Windows 7 Pro 32bit SP1
    Labview 2013
    Problem:
    Whenever I key in Japanese character, the result is garbage, however when I tried to export the VI, and when I opened the txt file, the character is written correctly.
    Seems like only in the front panel the characters are displaying incorrectly.
    I've attached the Locale settings and also the garbage in the front panel for reference, as well as the printscreen of the export txt.
    Any solution for this one?

    Hi,
    There are several ways to display foreign languages in LabVIEW front panel.
    1. set “UseUnicode=True” in the LabVIEW.ini file.
    2.  use the app locale utility from Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13209). With this tool you can run LabVIEW (or builded app) under different locales without changing system locale in Control Panel.
    3. By default UseUnicode in the LabVIEW.ini file is disabled.  Remove it or make it False if you've added the UseUnicode.
    Then go to control panel>> Region and Language >> Administrative tab.  Then in language from non-Unicode programs, select the language you want to use.  With UseUnicode False, Windows will see LabVIEW and a non-Unicode program and enable this feature.
    Maybe you can refer to the links below.

  • Simultaneously Controlling LabVIEW Remote Front Panels not working properly

    We are trying to simultaneously control a Executable file from different PC as per the description given in link below:

    But the issue is that we are not able to view it in Web browser as in "Web Publishing tool" When we click on "Preview in Browser" it Pop up a message " Web server not started. Do you want to start it now? We Click YES. Still nothing happens.
    We have exactly followed the steps given in the "white-paper/4867/en  i.e. Selected "Enable web server" and VI Properties to "Reentrant execution".
    In Control Panel>>Administrative  Tools>> Services we found that NI Web Server is available but NI Application Server is not installed. Is this is the reason why we are not able to Preview in Browser. If yes how to install that OR any thing else we are missing?

    There you go, good solution. When doing this remember that you have access to the database on the server. A structure I have found effective is to use the server DB like a dropbox that I write to, and the web server reads from.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro Front Panel not functio

    Okay, so I recently bought a new motherboard, processor and ram.
    Upon installing all components, everything works just fine.
    Except my Audigy 2 zs plat pro front panel.
    The power light is on, but it won't recognize ANYTHING plugged in to it.
    It worked just fine on my old set up, so I'm not sure what's going on.
    Here's my current set up;
    Asus A8n SLI Nforce4 socket 939 mobo
    AMD 64 3800+ cpu
    gb Corsair VS
    BFG GeForce 7800 GT graphics card
    Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro (with completely updated drivers, btw)
    The mobo DOES have onboard sound, so I don't know if that would be conflicting with anything, but I can't find any problems anywhere.
    Power is hooked up correctly, and all wires are, too.
    Blah! Any suggestions?Message Edited by iherbie on 2-28-2005 :4 PM

    iherbie,
    I don't have a platinum pro, just a plain Audigy 2 ZS. So I can only offer some general troubleshooting ideas. First, check for IRQ conflicts with other cards. Second, make sure the cable from the card to the front panel is securely seated. Removing and replugging is a quick way to verify this. If you have a multi-meter, you could test the integrity of the cable. Third, removing and reseating the sound card itself, or moving it to another PCI slot would be a good idea. If that doesn't help, then I'd uninstall and reinstall the software and drivers because perhaps front panel functions weren't properly installed the first time. I'm assuming that the rear in/out jacks work, and that the Creative CD that came with your Audigy is compatible with your current version of Windows and service pack, and that you have disabled onboard sound in your BIOS.Message Edited by Katman on 0-07-2006 08:38 PM

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - Front panel issues

    Hello there,
    I originally had the Creative Audigy 2 ZS Platinum and all was fine. It all worked and the world was happy. I then (won't go into details) managed to damage the card and whilst I still got sound, the front panel and the joystick port would not work. As it was only the card that was broken, I purchased a new Audigy 2 ZS card assuming I would be able to just stick the front panel connector back on and all would be hunky-dory.
    As you probably guessed, I am here, so all is not well. Whilst the game port now works, the front panel still does not respond to anything and I am at a loss. Is there some kind of jumper I need to switch or something? What have I done wrong.
    All input is more that welcome, thanks...

    i am having front panel issues. i think the damage to the card is a potential problem, but i don't think it's the cause for the panel not working. i think something is just seriously wrong with creative hardware. i really don't think pre-sales testing was performed extensi'vely enough. i have had more problems with my audigy 2 platinum in the 2.5 yrs i've had it than a new born baby. to make a long story short, i did a complete upgrade of my system, the only thing i kept was my case and audigy 2 and front dri've bay. i did nothing different than i had before, re-installed windows and everything. everything EXCEPT the front dri've bay works. i do get the red light from the optical out though, so there is power. i don't know what's wrong with this thing. all i can say is: creative you need to get your s**t together, you have as many issues with your sound blaster cards as microsoft has with windows. tech support: you need to do something for once and answer posts that people ask. i posted my question about this problem 7 months ago when it happened, guess how many repsonses i have. ZERO, NONE, NADA, NOT ONE RESPONSE. i don't blame forum users, not everyone knows, i blame tech support b/c you don't respond. i have no clue why, but do something, please.

  • Problem with Audigy 2 Platinum Front Panel Input

    0Problem with Audigy 2 Platinum Front Panel Input? Hey everyone,
    Here's the background of the issue. I got a PS3 over the holidays for literally free
    I had my computer out in a testbed style. Plugged the PS3 into my monitor HDMI --> DVI cable, and Red/White into the front RCA jacks of the Front Panel (Aux 2). As soon as I plugged in the cable, I got sound out of my speakers and was able to enjoy my PS3 in 720p
    I put all of the components back into the case after cutting exhause and intake fan holes. I brought everything back to school, fired up the PC and PS3. Lo and behold, there is no more sound from the PS3. I know that PS3s are temperamental in moving, but I hooked the audio up to my TV and the sound came out just fine. The AD Ext cable looks like it's secure and in place. When I hooked up a mic and headphones to the front, they worked fine as well. However it seems to be just the AUX 2 RCA inputs that dont work anymore. Any ideas about how to fix this issue? Is there a function I have to turn on now in the software to allow sound to pass through? Any information would be wonderful!? I'm going to try an optical cable in the near future, just need to borrow one from a friend =/

    Problem Solved.
    I had moved my cards around for better airflow. I moved the SB Audigy card from the bottom PCI slot to the top. Thinking this might be the problem, I moved the video card back to the top slot PCI-E and the sound card to the bottom PCI slot. Sound is now working again. Thanks for the thread views?:smileytongue:
    Think that when I have to buy Win 7 for real if the problem would still persist if I moved the card again? Or is this a hardware limitation?

  • HP 6500 wireless ALL-in-one e709n Printer front panel not responding at all

    Hi there,
    I have got a HP 6500 wireless ALL-in-one e709n printer.
    I have been using it with my pc with windows vista on it for nearly 2 years and it has been great.
    1 month ago, the front panel of the printer stopped responding, ie, when i press any buttons, the lcd screen on the printer does not change, it always show the ink level.
    The printer turns on, shows that its preparing, then goes to idle state with ink level icons on the screen.
    If i try to print any documents, it works with ethernet cable connected to my pc (which i used to do it wirelessly) , the cable-connected printing function still works, but wireless printing does not work anymore.
    However if i try to scan something, on the pc when i open the hp scan app, it shows that 'scanner is not available'.
    Also because the front panel doesnt work, no buttons respond, i cannot scan or copy.
    I have tried unplug everything and reinstall all drivers and programs.
    No damage to printer or my pc, it just stopped working all the sudden.
    Can any one help me out please?
    cheers,

  • Front case audio panel not working

    I just bought a new case but the microphone and phones connectors at front are not working...
    I know I have to connect them to the motherboard but I don't know if 'ts corretly connected cuz the names on the board manual are different from the ones in the case.
    Here are the names in case:
    MIC VCC
    MIC DATA
    GND
    EAR R (x2)
    EAR L (x2)
    The connector on the board is something like this:
    | 9|7|5|3|1|
    |10|8|6|4|2|
    and the board manul as this on it:
    PIN SIGNAL DESCRIPTION
    1 AUD_MIC Front panel microphone input signal
    2 AUD_GND Ground used by analog audio circuits
    3 AUD_MIC_BIAS Microphone power
    4 AUD_VCC Filtered +5V used by analog audio circuits
    5 AUD_FPOUT_R Right channel audio signal to front panel
    6 AUD_RET_R Right channel audio signal return from front panel
    7 HP_ON Reserved for future use to control headphone amplifier
    8 KEY No pin
    9 AUD_FPOUT_L Left channel audio signal to front panel
    10 AUD_RET_L Left channel audio signal return from front panel
    This is how I have connected:
    MIC VCC -> 3
    MIC DATA -> 1
    GND -> 2
    EAR R (x2) -> 5&6
    EAR L (x2) -> 9&10
    It's wrong right? Help...

    I had the same proble double checked all the connections 20 times then I found the problem in software...
    Look in the volume control panel for an option to enable the front jack. You will have to enable advanced controls. Then click the advanced button and check the mic2 select box.
    if that does not fix it for you try this
    MIC VCC -> 3
    MIC DATA -> 1
    GND -> 2
    EAR R (x2) -> 5&6 reverse these (one should say out on it, out should be on 5)
    EAR L (x2) -> 9&10 reverse these (out on 9 here)
    My antec case came nicely labled for me with a thick manual featuring translations of their pin labels to the proper locations. Also It has a standard intel 10 pin connector AND the 7 individual wires if needed... handy huh.
    Get a good case. But good luck.

  • Front audio panel not working on K9N Neo V3

    A new problem with MSI K9N Neo V3 MB...
    I just found out that Front audio panel is not working (no mic, no line out). I checked the cable 3 times. Seems to be OK. Front panel was working on a previous ASUS motherboard.
    - All drivers according to vista are working fine.
    - Back panel sound (eveything) is working fine.
    - Sound panel says that front panel mic & line-out are not plugged in.
    Is there a switch to turn this on? Or maybe some special driver?
    Or it is just useless, and working on MB package advertisment only?
