Audigy SE - No Sound - DirectSound Test F

Hey guys,
I have a Sound Blaster Audigy SE (PCI card) installed on a DFI Infinity n650i motherboard. I am running XP pro 64-bit. I have tried everything to get this to run (including everything posted here, clean boots and all).
Here are some facts:
- I have disabled the onboard HD audio in the BIOS.
- I have installed every set of drivers (deleting the old ones each time) that should support this system, but I cannot get it to play a single sound (the speakers work and are set up correctly, I made sure, every time, twice).
- Mostly, it will install everything correctly, but then just not make any sound. If I go to the speaker set up panel and test the channels, I get nothing there. (2. setup)
- This might be a critical clue: If I run diagnostics with the drivers that came on the cd, it passes all the tests (except making noise in the speaker channel test). If I run the auto update and get the latest drivers, it fails the directSound test (and the speaker channel test).
I am really stuck here, anything I should try next?
What is the likely culprit for a directSound fail error?
If I have to RMA this card (looking likely) what card will work more reliably with this setup?
HELP!

Sorry no help here but same or similar problem. Had problem with Realtek onboard audio which brought me to wits end. Disabled onboard and installed a Audigy Se. I have no sound from any line out and mic doesn't work either. I have an old but excellant speaker setup, MS Digital Sound System 80. WinXP Pro SP2 32 bit. Odd thing here is if I plug the USB in from the speaker system I get sound but still nothing out of Line Outs on sound card. Headphones or speakers get no sound from out ports. I did find in one forum that using the USB connection from the speaker system bypasses the sound card. So I uninstalled the drivers, unplugged the USB, reinstalled (figuring the install without the USB plugged in may make a difference), but still no sound from sound card ports. Instead I get the error message "Device Not Found. Please Select another Device In Configuration. Error Code 88780078". At this point I'm confused. Good Luck to us both.

also tryed dxdiag and there sound page..it plays directsound test only if mediaplayer is on..without mediaplayer nothing but at music page it plays that test without mediaplayer on in backround
Even reinstalling WIN XP didn't help..same thing with audigy 2 cd full installion
Can anyone HELP me..And sorry about my bad english
    Motherboard is DFI Ultra-D

My guess is that your PowerDVD and WinDVD versions don't have ES support and you're using the programs to decode. This might be the case if you are configuring the programs for multiple speakers. If you are, try configuring them for SPDIF output, then make sure the soundcard is configured to decode AC3/DTS (it probably is). Does that help?

  • Audigy 2 ZS sound from USB headphones but none from speakers

<Audigy 2 ZS sound from USB headphones but none from speakersw Hello everyone. Lately my computer has been acting up a bit (HP xw6200 workstation) and I updated the graphics and sound drivers to fix the issues with crashing. I first tried to update the audio drivers from the Creative support website but when the installation was finished and the computer restarted there was no longer any sound and all of the volume controls stopped working (sliders, buttons, checkboxes, etc. turned gray). I tried a couple more times to uninstall, then reinstall the driver but it still didn't work. Finally I went to the HP support website and downloaded the audio driver from there and installed it. Now the volume controls work again and when I plug in my Logitech USB headset I can hear sound just fine but when they are unplugged and I try to use my desktop speakers there is no sound at all. I played around with the volume controls, made sure the device and output was correct, and plugged the green output cable to the speakers in all of the sockets I could find while playing a song on Windows Media but it still doesn't work. Anybody have an idea of what might be going on and how to fix it's

@? OK another update (sorry I know I'm posting a lot). I downloaded and installed a different driver from the Creative support site and I now finally have sound in my speakers again. BUT the original problem I was having came back. Whenever I play a game (lately it's been Warcraft III) that seems to have more advanced 3D sound (more than, say, a web video on YouTube) the screen will all of a sudden turn some really weird pattern, the sound will stop, and the entire computer freezes; I then have to manually shut down (with the power button), wait a few seconds, then reboot. I thought this was a graphics issue so I downloaded and installed the latest driver for my video card (nVidia Quadro FX) which didn't help. Now I think it might be a sound card issue (or maybe motherboard?) because this problem doesn't happen when I use my USB headphones to play games. Might my sound card be dying or "breaking" somehow?

  • Audigy 2 OEM sound quest

I have a Audigy 2 value oem sound card.
Do anyone have a audigy 2 value sound card? Do you guys experience hissing noise on this card? Also I feel this card cannot take high level treble signal in music, even with my Sennheiser PX00. This is suppose to be a good head phone. I feel audigy 2 value is even not as good as the onboard sound. Is this because of this particular piece of card I have or it's because audigy 2 value suck?

    Hello
I have the same card Too.
i have no problems with hissing. My problems are in very different aspects. With very low level of background effects in some games ( UT2004, Colin Mcrae 04) Infact with all games i have tried on My PC. These effects are weak in EAX console too. All other sounds are good.
I have problems with Dolby Digital EX decoder too. When I play DVD-Video I've heard sound only from rear speakers. when I check the field to hear rear speakers from rear and side speaker it is no effect.
I don't know wath to do. I have usin latest di'vers, eax console, and winXP SP2.
    Thanks in advance!!!

  • Audigy 2ZS - No Sound!

For Christmas I got the audigy 2 ZS sound card for my 5. Altec Lansing Speakers. I booted up my computer and detected new hardware and installed it automatically and boom I had sound. Then I put in the audigy 2 ZS cd to install eveything and then asked to reboot so I did... then when windows started up I heard the windows start up tune and then it cracks out and I have no more sound. Can't listen to anything. I've tried several time unistalling the drivers and starting from scratch and the same thing always happens I get no sound after completely installing everything. I've noticed a number of people with this problem and I think Creative should finally help us out and give us a solution. I know its not the speakers as I've tried them on another system. Please help me out I've been struggly the past 2 days to try and get this to work and I'm getting tired of it...
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Hey,
The only thing i coudl think that might be the problem is when you installed the software and it asked you if you wanted "digital out sound" you selected it and continued with the instalation. That would prevent any sound coming out unless you are plugged into the digital port on you sound card.
Go into speaker settings in the creative folder from the start bar and make sure the digital sound box is unticked.
Let us know if this fails

  • AUDIGY 2 ZS: Sound stops working when loading ga

Hello, I recently upgraded my CPU/mobo and reformatted. Ever since then I've been having a few problems with my sound. I'm using the Audigy 2 ZS. I have the latest drivers off the website. Yes, I have disabled the onboard audio in the BIOS and there are no drivers for it installed in Windows. And yes, I have the latest version of DirectX and SP2 and everything else from Windows Update.
    - I'll play Mp3's in Winamp - using both the DirectSound and waveOut output methods - and the music will play fine. Windows system sounds and AIM sounds play find with this too. When I launch any game however, the sound shuts off.
For example, I'll load World of Warcraft, and the music will stop playing, when I exit the game the music resumes. Even stranger I noticed that when I WoW is running, the speaker configuration randomly gets changed from headphones to stereo speakers. Changing it back via Creative Audio Console caused the audio console to hang. Trying to change speaker configuration via Windows did nothing. and yes, I checked to ensure my soundcard was selected as the proper playback device, the volume was up, not muted, etc...
When I run Neverwinter Nights 2, the sound will shut off for the into logo screens and the intro scene. My Mp3 music from Winamp WILL resume playing at the main menu, however, the volume becomes noticeably less. Exitting the game restores the proper volume level.
Even stranger - if I run NW2 followed by Warcraft, my music will play during WoW, but at a lowered volume similar to Neverwinter nights 2. If I then quit WoW and restart WoW, I am back to no music. Strangely it seems just to get the low-volume music to play during WoW, I have to have previously run Neverwinter Nights 2.
    To summarize:
    - Music and Windows sounds stop altogether while running World of Warcraft
    - Music and Windows sounds play at much lesser volume during neveriwnter nights 2, and not at all during intro
    - sound works in warcraft, but at a lower volume, ONLY if I'd run neverwinter just before runnign warcraft
    - similar buggy low volume / no music at all problems in Medieval 2 Total War
    - one time I had my music become all distored and start skipping/ slowing down when I was trying to reset the speaker configuration back to Headphones when it was magically changed to stereo speakers.
I highly doubt it's a problem with the games - I've been playing these games and using Winamp and my Audigy 2 ZS for quite a while now, and never had a problem with any of my games screwing around with my WIndows sound levels or cutting it off altogether. I'll keep updating as I install more softwareMessage Edited by xagent on 0-09-20070:9 AM

Could it have anything to do with the fact that the drivers I downlaoded were off the Creative website?
I'm currently on WInter break for a couple more weeks, and left my Audigy 2 ZS CDs back at college. But I don't see why the latest Audigy 2 drivers from the Creative website should be faulty.
oh, and I'm running Win XP Pro

  • Audigy 4 pro sound card HELL please advise!!!

    hi all,
right i'll TRY to keep it simple!.....
BEFORE my (recently brand new) hard dri've died and caused me all sorts of probs (and ?300) my soundcard was fine it was :
    windows 7
    audigy 4
    cubase 4
daniel k's drivers (i think OR it was the one that came with the card)
with this i HAD the option of acti've X driver OR creative asio (used this as was much much better)
SINCE it died i've tried everything for days and days of hell to get this driver on, heres the symptoms:
using the CD that came with the audigy it takes 45 mins to load and then tells me there is NO sound card fitted (tried this 3 or 4 times)..
i physically took t?he card out (twice) and it made no difference and still didnt recognise any card fitted.
i've had to system restore a few times to get it 'see' ANY driver.....i've also downloaded some drivers but same symptoms as above.
using the acti've x the latency is a prob though i have adjusted it to make it work BUT am thinking this is one of the reasons my cubase freezes / crashes / and now makes crackling noise especially when using a reverb vst.
the whole system was great B4 this and i've lost 3 or 4 days and am now at the throwing it out of the window phase.
BEFORE it handled superior drummer as a VST and midi / audio files + reverbs all at the same time NO problem.
the current set up is almost identical and in fact a tickle better than B4 so WHY wont it see a sound card ?when trying a different dirver?
    HELP! Si in Brighton.

    ta...yes it does.
works (almost) fine with the acti've X driver, apart from telling me line/mic is NOT available....spent all day (again) trying to get the 3.8 daniel K pack on there.....came back with 'somethings wrong' meessage each time.
it just baffles me that my hard dri've
cd rom AND now (maybe) the card all ferk up at exactly the same time!
i recorded afterwards and it was fine for hours.....
    cheers si

  • Audigy NX 2 sound issue (paus

I have recently purchased an Audigy NX 2 to connect with my Yamaha home cinema amp, I have it set to pass everything through the optical SPDIF for processing by my Yamaha.
The issue I have is that with the SPDIF output sampling rate at 48kHz there are frequent pauses in sound, if I change the output sampling rate to 44.kHz these pauses lessen but are still there.
Has anyone else experience issues like this? I have installed the latest drivers but with no difference. Is it an issue with me not using a USB2 connection and there is simply not the bandwidth to pass the signal along?
    Any help appreciated.

    Yunior,
I think that you are saying that sound is speeded up when you watch movies. If that is so, is there a time scaling option (such as in EAX Console or MediaSource organizer) in the software you use for this? And what software are you using for watching movies? Also, if you have not already, try disabling your onboard soundcard in BIOS.

  • DO NOT install this driver for Sound Blaster Audigy SE, or Sound Blaster Audigy Va

I have two creative products that work fine under xp. But since installing vista my sBli've platinum doesn't work at all, i find out that creative are no longer supporting this card for vista. Fair enough... So I'm waiting for the SB audigy driver update and behold I read that i shouln't install the driver for my other Sound Blaster card, Audigy SE.
what are creative trying to do? does'nt look like a well run company.
And from what I've read what is the point of getting a card that is suppoted by the new driver as other people seem to be complaining that this new driver doesn't enable all the features as under Xp.

If I am right your Audigy is the first Audigy (EMU0k2) soundcard that was launched by Creative Labs. You need the drivers for the audigy series. For driver/application updates: Latest downloads Audigy Platinum
For a proper install, you may use the tools Driver Cleaner or Driver Sweeper in Windows Safe Mode to clean up the older drivers that are left in the system which can cause the problems you are having now; you can find these tools at Guru3D (under 'General Utilities').
After that You can install the drivers including the software/applications by using the install cd which is supplied with your Audigy soundcard, and then install the driver updates manually afterwards.
Or you can try out the new Daniel_K's driverpack (software/applications included, install cd not needed): SB Audigy Support Pack 2.8.000EQ (08/22/2008)
    Good luck!

  • Windows7 64 bit and Audigy 2 choppy sound while recording what you hear

Driver version I have currently installed 6.0..37 I tried to record off youtube in "What You hear" while using Wavelab5 mode and the sound is very choppy, I tried every setting I could think of but am unable to record, I managed to get one recording but tnext one with same settings is coming up rearry choppy. Another problem when browsing the support I click on "If your product is not listed above, please click here" I choose Audigy-->Audigy2 but I get nothing in the next window, I tried on FF and IE8 but nothing populates in the next field, found another way to get to the drivers but when I choose Windows 7 64 bit and choose drivers it takes me to the main support page here <a rel="nofollow" href="http://support.creative.com/welcome.aspx"]http://support.creative.com/welcome.aspx[/url]
    I am on:
    Intel Q2600
    Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6
    2 x 2GB DDR2 - 800 CL4 Ballistix
    Windows7 Ultimate 64 bit
    Kaspersky Internet Security 200.
All current Windows7 updates are installed.
Oh yeah I can hear music (mp3, avi, youtube or any online source) no problem in either winamp, WMP2 or in Wavelab5 while monitoring. It's only the recording that is giving me trouble.
    Cheers
    Rob.

Right where do I start...... I got the latest drivers installed, "What You Hear" was working for about oh four recordings then stopped and back to choppy recorded sound, I went through alll options and nada. So I downloaded Audacity to see if this was a problem with Wavelab and re-tried. Well same thing choppy sound and even rebooting did not help. So I will be taking EVERYTHING!!!!!! CREATIVE off my machine, if these idiots cannot be bothered to release drivers that work then I'm going elsewhere. My music creating will have to be put on hold, my 22m will still have to sit in it's box.
Creative you are all a bunch of ?$"?%$%" idiots period. You have ALWAYS (till now in my case anyway) had good drivers. Even though Windows 7 has been in RC for ages you (absolutely missed that boat, hell you didn't even get up to try to catch it) cannot be bothered to write drivers that work and your idiotic half cooked attempts at customer service to give your bread and butter (that's right your customers who keep you in business) solid drivers are an absolute joke. YOU CAN KISS MY SHINY METAL HINEY!!!!! (thanks Bender lol). I am going to my onboard drivers. Thanks Creative (the name "creative" is kind of contradiction in itself, you should look up the meaning of the word lol). Oh and I will be advising EVERYONe who thinks of upgrading to Windows7 to avoid Creative hardware.
