Audigy SE subwoofer is

This may have been answered before, but I've had a search and couldn't find it.
My subwoofer isn't working. If I play DVDs, it works ok, if I play games it seems to work ok, and if I try the speaker test with 'noise' it seems to work ok too.
However if I try and play any music (for example) nothing comes out, and neither does the front centre (well it does not I've played with the CMSS3D settings but didn't before). I'm using 5. speakers and like I said the speaker test works ok so I seem to have them set up properly.
Common issue? Can anything be done about it's It'd be nice to have some decent bass with my tunes!!

I goofed. I meant to say that my green output DOES work, but my pink and black ones do not. I've edited the post to fix that error.
I'm having a bit of trouble following your instructions Bubbator. I used Vista back in the beta stages, but I'm back with XP now. I've found the hardware profile for my Audigy if that's what you were talking about, but no custom tab.

    AudCon_PCApp_LB__20_23.exe
My 5. Speaker system(analog) is connectet in the right order (subwoofer+center on the digital out) but all i can get is the centre speaker , the subwoofer doesen`t make anything.(the other speaker sound normal)
Is this a hardware prob or can i help it with some software i don`t have?
For example the creative surround mixer?
I`dont hope the card is defekt.

  • Bad sound and low subwoofer output on Audigy 2 zs with 5.1 5

    Hi,
I am getting very very low subwoofer output on my Audigy2 ZS with 5. 5200.
To test furthter, i did the follownig
    play mp3,
2 output is from front speakers
3 very very low subwoofer output
4 to confirm, removed green (front) black (read) cabled from sound card and can confirm a very very low subwoofer output
earlier with Li've! 5. every thing was working great.
    what could be wrong?
i think Audigy 2 zs is a bad card and is a marketting hype.
is it that we need a different kind of cable to connect Audigy2 zs with 5. 5200? ( i am using the cable which came with my 5200 ofcourse)Message Edited by kotecha on 2-3-2004 07:23 PM

    Hi Jeremy,
    Thanks for the response.
I have tried all the thx console setup and bass levels.
Its not affecting the subwoofer output very much.
<Infact the subwoofer output is so low that i have to go and put my ears on the subwoofer to see if its producing sound.
<FONT color=#333399>Remember that with Li've! 5. (SB0220) which also i have with me is giving all the great results. so the problem is not with speakers but with the sound card and i want my costly card (zs) to work.
(i still believe the 5. 5200 3 pole cables (green, black, yellow) which we attached to the sound card and speakers are not compatible with Audigy2 zs as zs needs 4 pole cables - but i have not verified this still as it will be a long time consuming exercise - purchasing 4 pole pins and soldering here and there on cables and poles and testing testing)
Also, why the bass boost controls (level and cutoff frequency) in bass boost are disabled? how to bring them to enabled state?
Also, in thx console setup (calibration page) , its not SAVING the changes which i make to Distance, Level and Angle. Why is that so?
To help you further in understand my problem please note that i HAVE updated all the software to its latest versions by doing the software AutoUpdate from creative support site.
So i am having atleast 3 issues now
<. VERY VERY low subwoofer output while playing mp3 on audigy2zs with 5. 5200(this is my major concern)
<2. Bass boost controls are disabled (how to enable these controls?)
<3. its not saving the changes i make to thx setup console calibration page for Distance, Level and Angle.

  • Center/subwoofer output problems on Audigy 2 va

    Hi.
I have a Sony SRS-D5 5. speakers + an Audigy 2 Value card. I've connected up the FRONT, REAR and CENTER jacks correctly but I get NO bass on the subwoofer at all. I do get sound from the center satellite, however I know the subwoofer IS working because I get bass if I connect the REAR output to the speaker's CENTER/SUBWOOFER input.
I've enabled CMSS and selected '5.' in Control Panel.
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
I'm running Windows XP x64 -- could that be why?
    Thanks,
    E7

Did you update the sound drivers?Other things to try :?Calibrate the speakers (5.) in Creative control panel Speaker Settings.Do a speaker sound test in Creative control panel Speaker Settings.

  • SB Audigy 2 Value SB 0400 Subwoofer proble

    Hello,
I Own a SB Audigy 2 Value (SB0400) connected to Luxeon Logifox T5. Speakers system.
Two issues came up when I switched my old sound card (Genuis SM 5. Value) to the new Audigy:
. When I try the BASIC speaker calibration through the creative software (Speaker Settings->Speaker calibartion) I hear some squiking noises from all the speakers when trying to play the inital noise through the subwoofer. All the other speakers work great, the squiking noise from all the 5 serround speakers is just when trying to identify the subwoofer (ofcourse, no sound at all from the subwoofer). How can I resovle this issue.
    2. In General the volume of the subwoofer is very low compared to it`s funtion with the old sound card? why is that?
of course, I tried playing with the EAX,CMSS,equalizer,cabling,etc... before posting this message.
I have the latest driver from the software autoupdate in the creative website.
If anyone could help, I`ll appreciate.

  • Audigy SE no subwoofer and no center - no bass redirection

    Hello,
I run an Audigy SE soundcard on Windows 7. The problems is: I can't hear the subwoofer and the center.
Of course I downloaded the latest driver for Win7.
The customer support says that I should activate bass redirection in the software. But there's no checkbox called "activate bass redirection" in my software! Maybe it's included on the driver cd in the box, but I can't install it without getting a Bluescreen. (I think the bluescreen is because of less compatibility to Win7; the drivers on the cd are made for WinXP)
I'm desperate... May anyone help me?

    > The problem was solved. I'm so HAPPY!!!
I'm updated Win 7. In the right side was found Creative control centre with bass direction & others settings. After that I'm instolled?driver SB24_PCDRV_LB__04_0090 and changed internal sound on Creative.
The sound working properly at this moment. It's cool.

  • Subwoofer Problem with Audigy Pla

I recently bought a Speedlink Medusa 5. Headset, which is connected to the soundcard through 3 analog wires. Now the front- /rear- and centerspeaker are working fine, but I can't seem to get the subwoofer working with _any_ driver supplied by Creative for the Soundblaster Audigy Player. The headset itself should be ok, as it works perfectly (=> including subwoofer) with the kX drivers (after enabling "Use Subwoofer Output" and "Bass Redirection") and on the fly with the onboard soundcard of my mobo (CMI976).
I tried to enable "Bass Redirection" in the (latest) Surround Mixer app, but the setting doesn't seem to have any effect on the functionality of the subwoofer. The only effect I got was less bass when I set the frequency higher, so at least the splitting works.
Using kX is not an option, because it doesn't support EAX and AC3 decoding is still buggy. With the onboard solution I can't connect my TV card, plus it eats a lot of cpu time.
Now, do I have to buy a new soundcard for the functionality I paid about 75. for years ago?

i MUST REMOVE THE AUDIGY 4 to play the games and sent to third world as present...
    Anyone can support me?
I think it's the TRUST 800 DV PCI KIT fireware 400/800 that goes in conflict with Audigy..MAYBE (but i need it for hd fw)? Anyhelp?

  • Audigy Player and no Subwoofer for 5.1 So

I use the Audigy Player with the newest updates. I have connected a Zalman 5. headphones ZM-RS6F on the SB-card. With sourround mixer and speaker and test only 5 speakers are tested without subwoofer. All speaker test for these 5 speakers are correct. But when I test with a test-DVD from www.dvd-discovery.de alle speakers are correct, but the subwoofer doesn't function.
What must I configure for the subwoofer?

I'm pretty sure the bass is just produced through the center channel. I have these headphones as well and I get the same thing, no sound for the Sub test. However if I listen to music with a lot of bass it comes out fine. Sounds awesome - great headphones... most of the time. I have some other quirks with them which I'm going to ask about somewhere else.

  • No sound from subwoofer with Audigy 2 va

    No sound from Subwoofer.
Audigy 2 value soundcard is connected by analogue to a Sony receiver to 5. inputs, and it is hooked to a 5. speaker system. (5 sattelites and a subwoofer) There is no sound coming from the subwoofer when watching DVDs in 5., music (with CMSS) or games. So naturally it sounds awfull with no bass. (this system works ok with cd or dvd from the hifi). The audigy 2 value used to be connected to the creative inspire 5. speakers on my old computer and it worked fine. PLease help.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Regards
    Mikael

Go to EAX panel and uncheck all effects. Now you should get 20% volume on the sub.
Go buy an ARTcessories HEADAMP, like I did, and?some cables/adapters from a Hosa distributor to boost your ctr/sub 3.5mm output of the 2zs.
Output levels way too low for subwoofer no matter what you can do. Regardless of the impedance load on the output.
I hooked up an o-scope and measured it, being the FCC certified tech I am since '7, now senior engineer for the USCG Academy ship simulators facility.

  • Subwoofer not working with Audigy

Unlike most posters to this forum, I have only a 2. speaker setup connected to my 2ZS. I recently upgraded to Vista Ultimate (32-bit). The beta drivers for my sound card are working ok, in that I can get sound (with reasonable quality), but I'm not sure if the subwoofer is working. The Vista control panel only offers 2.0, not 2. sound. Is there anything special I need to do to make the subwoofer work?

I need help.. anyone got an Idea?

  • Help! Audigy 2: 5.1 setup Subwoofer and Center tied togeth

argh this is SUPER frustrating! what is wrong with this sound card? I have had it for like 2 years and finally got a 5. setup.
I have 5. correctly selected. Speakers are all set correctly. If I go do an audio test and they do the check on the CENTER speaker the subwoofer plays too! I need them separated cuz if I play a game all sounds behind me on my rear speakers have NO subwoofer support which makes it sound TERRIBLE.
If I do a 6. setup for fun and then do a speaker test the subwoofer is not tied in with the center speaker. Why cant my 5. setting be like this too? This is so frustrating!
And to top it off, If I play battlefield 2 and I select SOFTWARE instead of HARDWARE for sound it sounds correct!
Bah, what is wrong with this card??
    -Feld

What you need to do with all the speakers facing towards you make sure you hook them up in the right place. The front left, center, front right, rear left, rear right and the subwoofer. Click the channel button to see if they have sound. The channel button will not have sound in your subwoofer. When you click on the noise button you will here noise from the subwoofer.

  • Crative Inspire 7.1 w/ Audigy 2 Value - Subwoofer constantly rumbling, whether sound playing or not

As the message title says, my subwoofer constantly rumbles whether I have sound playing or not. If I don't have sound playing, just the subwoofer rumbles. If I do have sound playing, the sound plays normal, except the subwoofer rumbles OVER the sound. I've tried adjusting every subwoofer option I could find to no avail. The only thing that stops it is completely killing sub woofer volume, and it really sounds like crap without bass Anyone else had this problem? Anyone know a fix? It used to work fine, then this problem started up a few months ago, then it corrected itself, and now its back and I can't fix it...

If I have understood you right, then I'm afraid you have broken the subwoofer!
Several months ago, I think it was last year, somewhere in August I encountered this problem with my P580 5.1 speaker system. I was playing with too loud music and the subwoofer couldn't take it. This is were you all people have to pay ATTENTION! Just because the remote says "Level 0" on the bass volume doesn't mean that you may turn both the volum and the bass to the MAX! You will simply break the subwoofer, it cannot handle that kind of pressure. Now, how do you notice that the subwoofer is broken? Well, it may have different sounds on different systems, however my P580 had some kind of "Whhhooooo" sound.
But don't worry!!! There is always a way through this kind of problems as it is with any other problem you encounter with your speakers. If you have the receipt at your disposal and your garuantee haven't expired then you may always get a new one! But if you haven't got it, then you just contact your customer support, then they will ask you to send your subwoofer to them and they will just send you a new one! It will take a couple of week's but, make sure to contact them and they will send you a new one as soon as they have recieved yours. You need to give them a copy of your receipt, if you haven't got one then send your product number found on the box containing the speaker and all that...

  • Audigy (9000?) and no subwoofer/digital o

Okay, so my subwoofer isnt working... I've narrowed it down to the digital out jack which seems to only give out one channel? My subwoofer definately work because I've had the front speaker input swapped over with it. The only thing i oculd think is that theres either a driver option, a fault in the card or the cable i should be using should be mono.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Oh and I'm using the web drivers not from the CD...and it says I have a "9000" but "0600" is written on the card...

  • Solution to my Audigy 4 Digital Output probs... please make a stic

I was recently playing Q3TA with my son when my overheat protection kicked in. I exited to windows to see the temp and throttle back my CPU a tad, and when I returned I had no sound from my digital output. Analog was working fine, however.
    Setup:
    Giga-byte GA-MA78GM-S2H w/780g chipset
    Athlon 64 X2 5000+ BE
    Integrated Realtek HD audio (disabled)
    Integrated ATI HD 3200
    2xGB 800MHZ DDR2
    Creative Audigy 4
Boston acoustics Digital BA735 2. speakers
I went over every setting in all of my consoles, HQ's and drivers. I played with driver versions, DirectX versions, diagnostic programs and procedures in the knowledge base. In defeat, I even wiped out my XP install and started fresh with the Aud-4 removed, using analog on the integrated card thru headphones. Then I disabled the integrated card and reinstalled the Audigy 4 only to find that there was still no sound from the digital speakers.
    Solution?
I[color="#ff0000"] unplugged the power to my speakers, and reconnected everything. As soon as the power was back up, the sound started playing (I had a .MP3 on for testing).
This stumped me for two reasons that occur to me know:
. These speakers (and possibly many others) don't fully power down when you turn the volume knob off and the light on the satellites goes out. The decoder and subwoofer unit keep their light on.
    2. Apparently, some situations introduce a faulty signal to the digital output that scrambles the speaker units and they refuse to operate any longer.
Now I know, unplug the power to my speakers. My system works on all three sampling frequencies in "audio console" 44., 48, and 96KHz. None of the troubleshooting procedures touched my problem, because they didn't even mention the speaker setup, let alone doing a hard reset.
    Please please please!
Make this a sticky for future me!!!

The Digital output jack on the card isn't of optical signal type.....you will need to get those I/O module mention bt johnston2 for optical connection.
