Audigy SE suspect in system cra

I have an Audigy SE 7. card installed in a 450 meg ASUS system running Windows XP Professional and with specialist software the system crashes!
?After much consternation it has been found with Vienna that when a legitimate and well tested organ soundfont is loaded and the tremulant is started. When a note is played with in Vienna, the same problem is reproduced as with the specialist software manifesting itself as an instant system power on reset!
This is reproducing the problem as seen with the specialist soft ware, but there being only one suspect in the system!?Has this problem been seen anywhere else, or as I suspect I have a duff card!?PS the specialist software users have not encountered?such a problem as this!?My dealer wants to test the card, but will he prove I wonder?

I?should also have said that I have tested the system with other Creative drivers without any success!?somebody please come up with a solution, this really is a pain!? An instant?complete system failure and crash?is just not good news!
Or do you call it a BSOD, either way it is not fun!?Regretably Creative support has not been any help what so ever, seem to be not sure what time of day it is!

  • Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audigy card on your system

    Hi from Barcelona!
I've a Soun Blaster Audigy card (Model: SB0090)
I tried to install the Audigy software and drivers from the original product CD but Setup was unable to find Augigy hardware and halted the installation!
"Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster card on your system. Please ensure that your Sound Blaster hardware is properly installed before running this Setup program"
By the way. Manually the sound drivers can be installed working only front speakers of the 5. Creative system
I tried a clean installation of Windows XP and Windows 2000 PRO (reformatted the hard dri've) but Audigy install CD still could not find Audigy hardware.
I've changed the card to a different PCI slot with the same results!!! Damaged?
What is happening? I need a solution!! Many users have this problem to with other Sound Blaster cards and models...

It seems to be an important BUG of Creative Sound Blaster Audigy cards related with EEPROM!!!
Yes, indeed, that is my theory as well. After much ****hing and on-line research, it seems that this problem has been around since 2002. From Creative Labs point of view, it appears they view this as "pilot error" -- the user has installed the card in a system that is not fully compliant with the latest standards -- specifically Microsofts ACPI (configuration and power management). A wide variety of configurations and/or actions seem to cause the PCI subsystem ID in the Audigy EEPROM to be erroneously overwritten -- including certain older motherboards, certain older PCI cards, and perhaps other actions.
Once the subsystem ID in the EEPROM is overwritten and has garbage information, many or all of the Creative applications cease working and various sound problems can arise. Attempts to reinstall the driver or update to the latest driver consistently fail becuase of the dreaded "Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audigy card in your system..." error message.
There appear to be four fixes:
) Get a replacement Audigy card from Creative, but <EM>only</EM> after you perform their prescribed troubleshooting steps to prove that the card is indeed the source of the problem. Apparently, the steps include installing the card in another PC. Apparently, Creative in Europe is more willing to replace your card than Creative in the US. It's up to Creative Labs whether or not they issue you an RMA ("Return Material Authorization").
However, this fix will fail if the root causes of the EEPROM error are not corrected. Apparently, Creative Tech Support isn't always a foolproof source of guidance, so the burden is on you. The root cause MUST be corrected before the new card is installed, or the same problem will happen all over again. Eliminating the root cause may involve replacing your motherboard, replacing other PCI cards, or manual configuration (disabling ACPI).
    2) Reprogramming the EEPROM. This is for advanced PC owners only, because it involves desoldering the EEPROM, programming it, and resoldering (and even lifting some pins to prevent reprogramming). There are instructions on how to do this posted in the German Creative Labs discussion board, by a Russian (!). I have links for those who are interested.
    3) Removing the Creative drivers and software (using Clean Sweep procedures and third party utilities), updating again using Windows XP SP2, then physically moving the card to different PCI slots (multiple times if necessary), until ACPI Bios writes the proper information into the EEPROM. You can then reload the drivers.
Again, the root causes of the problem must be removed or your fix will only be temporary (a day or two). This solution also seems to be very dependent on the specifics of your system (motherboard, PCI cards, etc.).
    4) Some people have had success in by-passing the step in the driver installation process where they check for the Audigy card subsystem ID, using a utility called CTZAPxx on the installation CD. Then then manually install each of the applications they need to use.
    5) Use the open source driver from the kX Project (http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/index.php). This driver (and associated utilities) does not depend on the detailed configuration of the card (i.e. they don't check subsystem ID) and appear to work fine even with cards with corrupted EEPROM.
This driver is aimed primarily at computer music applications, and opens up the on-card signal processing capabilities. The downside is that the Audigy 2 ZS does not have all of it's capabilities supported <EM>yet </EM>(e.g. Dolby Digital decoding, S/PIF passthrough, possibly some game sound features, THX, 24-bit recording, support for Hyperthreading CPUs, etc.). But scanning over the discussion boards, the user community seems to be MUCH happier with the performance and support associated with these drivers than with Creative's.
This is the direction I'm going. I'm not a big gamer and I don't really care about the latest in home theater audio performance. Basic 5. surround sound is all I care about, and I'm much more interested in computer music capabilities.
I have also lost faith in Creative Labs as a vendor to provide the support I want and need going forward. Just imagine if the Creative Labs were running the Space Shuttle program :smileysurprised:.

  • Audigy 2 SE SB0570 and modem = system cras

I have a problem. When i trying to listen music, when i'm using internet i got "blue screen" crash. So i cannot listen music, when i'm in the internet... Please help me...
    Thanks.

Ban me and see if I care. I just think that people should know that the people at creative Labs have products that advertise being compatible with all windows oses and it is just not true.
banning me for telling the truth is confirmation of the fact.
I have heard that the truth hurts and I guess in this case it is true.
I have recieved no help and from reading other users posts I am not the only one.So go ahead it it nothing to me.

  • Audigy 2 Platinum EX system Hang probl

A couple of weeks ago, I purchased this card though a creative labs ebay auction. I'm still working on the card and trying to get it to work. What happens is that it randomly locks the system whenever I do anything that involves sound. Sometimes I can go an hour of playing a game. Sometimes I can go 5 minutes. Sometimes it just freezes whenever I open the Creative Mixer. I've narrowed it down to most likely being a software issue. I tried a couple of days ago installing just the drivers from the CD. I played mp3s continuosly for 2 days with no locku
    ps.
Today I reinstalled the creative surround mixer and BLAMO, the problems are back.
    Here's the stuff I've tried:
. Tried it in every pci slot.
    2. Tried every pci slot twice and made sure it was seated correctly.
    3. Did a clean sweep between each reinstallation.
    4. Manually set the irq in the BIOS.
    5. Disabled the Audigy and enabled the onboard sound. The onboard sound did not lock up what-so-ever.
    6. Disabled the onboard sound (it was only enabled for that one test...otherwise it had been disabled for several months). Anyway, enabled the audigy drivers.
    7. Install one piece of the audigy software at a time. This seems to have worked. Too bad that the only piece I can install is the drivers.
    8. Oh, and I also tried a 450 PSU because I initially thought it was a power issue.
Are there any known issues with this card? Does it really not get a long with any types of hardware? Are there any known issues with some of the creative software, mainly the creative mixer?
    Here's my system rundown:
    MSI KT3 Ultra 2 Motherboard
    Via KT333 chipset
    Athlon XP 900+
    52MB Micron PC2700
    Geforce Ti4200 w/ 64MB DDR
    400W PSU
    6X DVD-ROM
    48x2x48 CD
    2 Western Digital Hard dri'ves
    Linksys NIC

I have a simular problem. On the first boot of the day my system will freeze, could be 2sec in, or 2 hours. Once i restart it runds like a dream. Now confirmed it is soundcard drivers by process of elimination. What drivers did you install to get it working without the freezing?

  • Two Audigy SE Board makes system B

Hi, I'm building my new system, Asus A8V + Athlon 64 and I need to have TWO sound card on board.
I bougth TWO Audigy SE. When I try to install the driver for the cards from the CD, I get a BSOD:
"While restoring the previously saved floating point state for a thread, the state was found to be invalid".
If I disable one of the two board I can install the other correctly.
I know for sure I can have these two cards working together, because I've built a very similiar system for a friend a couple of weeks ago.
Please note that this is a clean system (nothing is installed yet apart from VIA 4in chipset driver).
    Thankyou.

    Hi,
?I had sort of the same problem.....
I got it working by installing only one card (PCI slot ) and then adding in the extra card (PCI Slot 2) and letting windows (XP SP2) find the second card. MME works in Cakewal sonar 8 for multichannel (Sad there arent any ASIO drivers?:mansad: ).
Honestly,? I should have researched the card first before purchasing them. My old PCI 52 and Li've! 24 w/Li've Dri've were emu0k's and I had heard the Audigy series was 0k2 (ooops) This card is NOT. So therefore no wordclock timer. Anyone who is interested in multichannel with ASIO and wordclock, but can't afford the expensi've 4/8 channel input "pro" cards, don't be this cheap! Get the cards that have the Emu0k2 chip!! It will make your life much happier.
Now that I have posted that.......
    Here is my problem:
    The freaking Soundfonts wont work?
I open the SF applet and switch to the card I'm using (only the second card get's displayed :robotmad:, So I switch my MIDI device (Vienna) to that device, and set the memory to static and 28 MB, it shows an hour glass, and then does a quick refresh(blip). I try to load a SF in Vienna (or Sonar) and it says not enough memory to load soundfont!! I'm loading the 4 MB SF that comes with the card.....
    Any Ideas here?

  • Audigy 2 NX Hangs system when us

Hello. Maybe someone can help with this.
No problem installing drivers, etc. Running latest nx drivers. (As @ 6 june 2006).
Initially works perfectly (passes all diagnostics etc) unitil it tries to make a sound (speaker test) then instant OS hang and required PC hard-power-off to resolve.
If I leave the NX plugged in at boot, system will hang/lock up just after login, when the system tries to play welcome sound.
If it's important I have another USB sound device - a cyberbox VOIP gateway from tiptel. Unplugging it or removing it's drivers does not help. (ditto for other hardware mentioned above).
The A2NX worked ONCE after initial drivers install, and before reboot.
I've tried checking and reinstalling drivers both via uninstall and manual uninstall (device manager).
The A2NX works fine on other systems.
    Hardware:
    Asus s-presso P2 (intel chipset)
    P4 2.6Ghz
USB VOIP adapter (cyberbox from tiptel, appears in Device manager as 'USB Audio')
USB Creative quickcam pro. (and old one)
    USB 2.0 HDD
USB Microsoft Intellimouse and Intellikeyboard. (installs a competing composite device?)
    USB Built-in cardreader
Previously had a PCI Philips rhythmic edge sound card (drivers/card uninstalled - .89)
Nvidia 6200 GFX, latest release drivers
    W2003 (I know, I know, not supported!)
    Latest Intel INF files
    Ideas?, Help? - known incompatibilities?

Thanks, though I've solved this one myself. For the sake of some future googler, let me say that the problem was a dri've reverting to PIO mode instead of Ultra DMA (see the Primary DMA in your device manager). Solved by uninstalling the Primary DMA in the aforementioned device manager.

  • Bad_Pool_Caller - Audigy 2

This is a new thread from an old one...easier to find the problem this way.
I am having BSOD with error Bad_Pool_Caller with my Audigy 2 ZS card. I have had this problem ever since installing the new Audigy 2 ZS install replacement disc I got the other day. This installation is also wrecking havoc on my multi-monitor system. Basically I can't run my second video card when I install the new drivers or the Audigy software.
    My system is as follows:
    MSI K7N2 Delta2 Platinum MB
    AMD Athlon 3200+ 400mhz CPU
    Ram: 2 - 52MB PC 3200 running DDR at 400mhz
GeForce4 4600 Ti AGP in 4x with fast writes Video card by PNY
GeForce4 MX 4000 PCI by eVGA
ATI TV Wonder Pro Remote edition
    Audigy 2 ZS Platinum
A number of USB devices on USB 2.0 hubs
So... I did a whole days worth, and I mean a whole day, of troubleshooting. Here is what I found...
NOTE: I had my system working with my multi-monitor, TV tuner, and the Audigy card prior to the new install disc. I can't seem to find out which driver I was using though as I have not been able to get the system work work as it was before I had to do a clean install because of the BSOD.
Using driver version .84. - EAX 4.0 Advanced HD driver update I am able to boot into windows XP Pro if I disable the sound card under safe mode first and then after I am in Windows I can enable the sound card. I am not able to install any Audigy software though with out causing an Error 0 on my PCI video card (the 2nd card). If I just try to boot straight into Windows I freeze immediately after the Windows XP logo or I get a BSOD Bad_Pool_Caller
Using driver version .84.40, same problem as above.
Using driver version .84.50, same problem as above.
Using driver version .84.055, immediate BSOD Bad_Pool_Caller. Unable to use the trick above.
I have tried all kinds of combinations of PCI slots. I have also disabled piece by piece the startup items and the services that are non-microsoft under MSCONFIG without any difference. I have also removed all the USB devices with difference. All of my MB drivers, graphics drivers, TV drivers, and my BIOS are all the latest editions, no beta versions. My system is not overclocked. I am not running a lot of programs at the moment as I just did a clean install of Windows XP Pro...yay for me...blah.
I have to go into the registry after each driver test to remove ALL references to Creative, and I mean all or else the next driver immediately BSODs. You guys sure to leave a lot of mess in the registry even after I use the ZAP proggy thing you have.
I am utterly frustrated beyond belief. I came back to Creative Sound after using a different sound card for a number of years because I read some good reviews. So far I am not too happy that I did.

Ok, further research so to speak...
I broke down and removed my PCI graphics card (the 2nd video card - GeForce MX 4000) and I still get the Bad_Pool_Caller screen immediately after the Windows XP logo on boot unless I disable the sound card prior to booting (through safe mode). I can then boot into Windows XP and reenable the sound card. It is a pain in the butt. This is all still without any software save the drviers installed.

  • Headphone output not working on Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro

I've installed the (only available) beta driver for Vista under Vista RTM, but can't get the headphone output to work at all...
Sound keeps playing through the line out, but no matter what i do i can't get it routed through the headphone output. Is it a known issue or is there a solution?
(Oh, and for all the forum nazis - i DID try searching for a solution before posting and haven't found a single shred of useful information)
    Regards and thanks in advance,
    Ante Vukorepa

I can understand your problem cause i have the same one, and its very annoying.....
    my equipment is:
Sound Drivers 2.2.000 (BETA) latest from creative.
    Windows Vista Home Premium.
    SoundBlaster Audigy / Platnum.
Sound system are Cambridge Soundworks with Sub 5..
Im trying my TECHNIKA TA-05 headphones i brought from tesco's rofl, and when i plug them into my jack BOOM, no sound, unplug and tada sound.
If anyone has a solution that would be great!!!.
Cheers! and have a good valentines.

Im having trouble install drivers (apart from the old CD ones and some out of date ones) all the latest drivers or beta drivers say they cannot detect my card. I have an Sound Blaster Audigy 2 OEM which i bought nearly 2 years ago. I've tried swapping it to a different pci slot but makes no different Constant crashes when playing openal games. Even if i install the lates openal file. But i need to find out why i can't install the newest drivers and why they say i haven't got an audigy 2 when i have. In my device manger even says that its an "Creative SB Audigy 2 (WDM)" My system is as follows...

I am getting the exact same problem. Just downloaded the "Creative Sound Blaster Audigy unified series Beta driver with OpenAL support 2.08.0002" for my soundcard which is an Audigy 2 OEM (Model No. SB0240).
I am using WIndows Media Center Edition 2005, but when I try to install the beta drivers, I get the following error message:
"Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system. Please ensure that your product is properly installed before running this setup program
    Setup will exit."
My Device Manager shows Creative SB Audigy 2 (WDM) with driver version as follows:
    Driver Provider: Creative
    Driver Date: 23/06/2004
    Driver Version: 5.2..444
I am currently hearing sound fine (so the soundcard is installed correctly), but the sound keeps cutting out from games that use OpenAL.
Anyone else getting this problem? How did you fix it's

  • G5 will not boot from system disk or from Tech Tool Pro 5

Hi everyone - Having a bit of trouble and hoped I might find some answers here.
I suspect my system drive was having some issues as it sounded like it was being taxed and strained as I would open up applications from it. Upon verifying the disk using Disk Utilities, the test would stop short with the following message:
    First Aid Failed
Disk Utility stopped verifying "Macintosh HD" because the following error was encountered
    Filesystem verify or repair failed
In addition, an error message came up (in red) on the disk utility screen as well saying:
    Volume header needs minor repair
The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired
Error: Filesystem verify or repair failed
Normally from here, I'd start up the computer from the Tech Tool Pro 5 disk (holding down C key upon restart). But when I did this, the computer never responded. Instead, the power was on but the screens went black and the computer went into a very quiet "idle" mode.
After about a minute, the fans began ramping up pretty high (and loud). This went on until I finally had to manually shut down the computer by holding the power switch down for a few seconds. I didn't know what else to do. Those fans were not coming down (not even after 10 minutes).
Anyway, I pushed the power button again and held the C key down. Still, nothing.... The fans stayed idle, for a little while and then ramped up again just like last time. I hit that same dead end and powered down the computer via the power button.
Is there an alternate way to boot the computer from Tech Tool Pro or the original start up disks? I'm having no luck, here.
I'm on my way into town to purchase a new internal drive (something with about 1TB of space) so that my pro apps can swim a little instead of being being bogged down on a 250G drive.
    Thanks for any assistance, folks!
Oh yeah.... Happy New Year to everyone!!
    Steve

The Install disk has version 10.4 on it. I have also tried booting from my OS 10.5 disk but with no avail.
However, here is an update on my plight.
Apple tech says that after hearing the symptoms, he thinks that one of the processors is shot. Being that my particular model of G5 (dual 2.7 processors) is a liquid cooled machine, it's possible that some sort of leak has formed and has either taken out a processor or has caused a processor to overheat. He says that this model of G5 has been known to do that. In this case, nothing will boot which makes me think that my original system drive may actually be okay. I'm taking it in for the tech to look at it and just be sure that's the problem. However, if it is a dead processor, the part alone would run $799 plus labor to install it. Frankly, that's just too much for me to pay to keep this old G5. I'd rather put that money towards a new or reconditioned Mac Pro 8 core or quad core machine.
I've owned several Mac computers in the past and perhaps this is the frustration talking but it seems that no matter how diligent you are in maintaining your Macintosh, these machines only seem to last about 5 years before something majorly wrong happens (mother board, processor, etc). Can I expect this same, limited time frame from a new Mac Pro? I mean, am I just being paranoid?

  • System Profiler Content File Directory Location?

    Hello,
I recently changed out my microprocessor in my PowerBook G3 because my old one was not working properly. All works fine now as it is smoothly running 10.4.11. However, I look in system profiler and the serial number has changed to the new microprocessor and does not match the sticker on the bottom on the machine. I managed to modify the "About This Mac" and "Login Window" serial number just fine, but I am stumped regarding system profiler. I did research and found that in 10.5, you can manually input the serial by finding a "SMBIOS" type file architecture in the extensions folder of System>Library. My question is:
Where can I find the system files that give System Profiler its information. or Where can I find the equivalent in 10.4 to 10.5's SMBIOS system files.I appreciate any advice. Please indicate the entire file directory so I can easily find the location of the files I need to modify. Have a nice day.

I suspect that System Profiler gets the serial number either by an internal call to the I/O registry which in turn has gotten it from the logic board firmware, or else directly from the firmware itself. If either of these mechanisms is correct, then there are NO files that carry the serial number, and therefore I think there is probably nothing you can change. This may be incorrect, but so far I've seen no evidence of a datafile that has this information.
By way of background, here is my understanding. Hopefully I will be corrected if I am wrong:
A file is a particular type of data structure, a collection of bytes assembled by the operating system in a specific way. Files usually reside on physical storage devices such as disk drives, and persist even after the computer is turned off. A user with sufficient privileges can generally access the information stored in a file.
There are, however, other types of OS data structures in the "kernel," below the level of the user interface. These structures are not files - it is not that they are "hidden files" or "system files" - they are not files at all. These data structures exist in a protected space that users cannot alter.
    ioreg -l | grep IOPlatformSerialNumber | awk '{ print $4 }'
I have no idea exactly "where" this piece of information is coming from, meaning the serial number that appears. It would be greatly appreciated if you could help me track down exactly where on the system the terminal command here is pulling this info from. It clearly gets it from some place, but it just may not be something we can see on the system as an object.
According to the link I posted earlier, the ioreg terminal command directly displays (but cannot alter) the I/O registry. This data structure is not a file, and does not exist in the filesystem that you access via the GUI or via Terminal filesystem commands. Even worse, the link said:
the Registry is not stored on disk or archived between boots. Instead, it is built at each system boot and resides in memory
What this means is that the I/O Registry resides only in RAM - it is completely destroyed when you turn off the computer, and gets rebuilt when you start back up. And again, it is not a file.
That's why I said "This doesn't sound promising"!
there has to be a way to override the "connection" between the dynamic database itself and how it obtains information from it.
If System Profiler.app does either read the I/O registry or read the firmware directly, then this instruction may be hardcoded in the app itself. I don't know this, but if so then I don't think there is any way to get it to look "somewhere else."
Good luck, but I think this project is going to be "The Impossible Dream"

  • Self-created invisible system file not found via Finder's Find command

I need to see what is being created on my hard disk. To achieve that, I create a test file, call it .new in TextEdit, remove the hidden .rtf extension, and place it in one of the folders in /Library/Application Support. Then, I use Finders Find command, and ask to search This Mac, Created date: today, System files are included, File visibility Visible or Invisible, leaving the input field (for file contents or name) blank. The newly created file isn't found. I type its name into the input field, with the same result. I change its name to .new.plist . Same result. Suspecting that "System files" acutally means system files and doesn't include the Library on the top level, I place that same item in /System/Library/PodcastProducer. Same result.
Seriously, this is entirely incomprehensible. The Find command obviously doesn't do what it says it does. Could anyone tell me how to get it to, or name some alternative?
    Thanks a lot.

Actually you CAN get ressults for .whatever files and folders. I created a saved search for my home folder with the criterion of "File visibility::Invisible Items" and then "None of the following are true::Name contains" DS_Store, Icon or localized. The result is a list of 65 invisible items including things such as the files /Users/francine/Library/Preferences/ByHost/.GlobalPreferences.0017f20dca84.plis t (a dot file), /Users/francine/Library/Preferences/com.freeverse.5012 (something with the invisible flag set), the dot folder /Users/francine/.fontconfig, and many others of all of these types. I thought it was interesting that lots of them were inside the ~/Library folder, even though I did NOT specify including system files.
I don't know why the original poster can't get Spotlight, using the the Command-f method, to display dot files. When I was setting my own invisible items search up I did manage to crash the Finder once, so it may be that the query for invisible items is buggy. Here's the Raw Query:
    (true) && (((kMDItemFSInvisible = 1) && (!((kMDItemDisplayName = "\DS_Store"cd) || (kMDItemDisplayName = "\Icon"cd) || (kMDItemDisplayName = "\localized"cd)))))
If you go to a folder, do Command-f, then change from the default "Kind" to "Raw Query" and paste the above in as the query, you ought to get all the invisible files and folders, except the .DS_Store, Icon and localized files (of which there are likely hundreds of 'em in your home folder).

  • Audigy Gamer not found by Wondows XP - Emu10kx installing inst

I have bee using an audigy gamer quite succesfully for the past year or so. Today, I upgraded my motherboard and cpu. my new motherboard has built on sound (as they all do now) that I have DISABLED in BIOS. I reinstalled a fresh copy of WindowsXP so the drivers would not be messed up with a new motherboard. I can see in my device manager that Creative Audigy Audio Proccesor (WDM) is on my list of installed and working devices...but i get no sound at all. I looked in my sound settings though windows and it shows my default sound device as Emu0kx Audio. This sounds like the same problems I read other people having but here is the difference... I still have my original CD! I used it, twice now, to try to install my card correctly, but nothing changes, still no sound. I downloaded the AUD_EAX4DRV_0303.exe pack from creative's web site but when I try to use it, it says no sound blaster audigy found on your system. I can assure you, it is in there. like I said before, it worked fine until I swapped motherboard and processor. I went from an MSI board with an Athlon 800+ to an MSI board (K8T Neo) with an Athlon 64 3400+. I have already tried moving it to a new PCI slot and that does not work either. I have downloaded all updates for my motherboard already. I checked with MSI, they say that this card is tested and works fine with their board. Also, the game port off my audigy is not showing up. I dont know if this is related to the same problem or not. One last thing, the firewire port on my audigy DOES work. So, this means, the card IS being found, but not found as an audigy. Please help!!!

Same problem here, it seems Microsoft has decided we should all be using this Kx driver instead. Is just as well because it works and CL can't manage to write drivers for thier own products anymore for some reason. I believe they may be trying to run some type of forced obsoescense on us. I do give them props for sharing the necessary specs to the ALSA people as my SBAudigy2 platinum works great on Ubuntu Linux using the ALSA driver.
but yeah, why does creative even offer the drivers online, NOBODY can install them, the installer is either broken or some firmware change or something makes it look like not a SB card so the installer will never work to install the driver. At least with the EMU0kx driver you have audio. If you force it via CTZAP on the CD it will install a non working driver and nothing will detect a Soundblaster card.
Cliffs: There are no drivers for the Soundblaster audigy series on Windows XP any more give up looking. A fresh install of windows and using your Install CD does not work, moving the card to a new PCI slot does not work, uninstalling the card drivers and hardware then reinstalling does not work. Creative is known for supplying great hardware and horrible software, sad but true.
