Audigy SE, Windows 7 & a Microphone

'Hi,
I have an Audigy SE installed on my Windows 7 system and have just got myself a new gaming headset, however I have been unable to get my system to recognise that there is a mic plugged into the flexjack port. I have made sure my software is up to date, googled the problem and nothing I have found has yielded any useful information.
Is anyone able to shed some light on my dilema?
SpiritWolf

+SpiritWolf,
Please make sure that the microphone is selected as the default device. Here's what you should see on your screen.

  • Soundblaster Audigy and Windows

I've just installed Windows XP on a new hard dri've. I'm running an older computer with a 700mhz Celeron processor with an Audigy soundcard. On Windows ME it worked fine, but since upgrading, sounds work fine, but when I try playing music of any kind it locks my machine up so bad I have to shut it down manually. I've tried reinstalling Windows and the soundcard drivers, and nothing works. Is there a known issue with the Audigy and Windows XP?
I'm greatful for anything you can tell me, I'm at a loss.
    Thank you

    Why bother with Microsoft?
They didn't even add in 6. in Windows XP
    Seriously, use Creative Speaker Settings.

  • G570 Windows 7 microphone problems (choppy sound when recording)

    Good morning,
I have a nice Lenovo G570 with Windows 7 that has been running perfectly for quite a while.  I have some old audio tracks (multi-track recordings) that I have done using Audacity on an ancient Windows XP desktop.
I installed a new version of Audacity (64 bit) for Windows 7 from their website and it is fine.  It opened up, displayed, and played the old audio tracks without a problem.  It even allowed me to remix them as well.
My main problem is using the microphone and wanting to do some musical recordings and multi-track recordings on the Lenovo G570.  I plug a Shure microphone (using a 1/8" adapter) into the mic jack on the side of the G570 and start to record.  It works fine and allows me to record the first track (keyboards).  But yet when I go to record the second track, while listening to the 1st track (i.e. multi-track), the microphone input dies out, gets choppy, fades back in to normal level, fades back out, etc...
I ran a test on the microphone jack and the drivers (Conexant SmartAudio HD)...  I plugged my MP3 player into the mic jack using a stereo 1/8" cable and clicked "Listen to this device" and then clicked Apply.  One of my MP3 tunes started playing, but was so awful and so choppy, I instantly knew I had a problem.
I downloaded the latest Conexant SmartAudio HD driver from your website - - 8.54.4.51 and installed it and rebooted.  I still have the same problem with choppy audio when using the microphone for recording.
What gives?  I performed the same test on my wife's Dell laptop (as seen above with my MP3 player), and a Beatles tune came through beautifully.  You could hear Paul McCartney clearly singing, "Yesterday...  All my troubles seemed so far away..." and it was not choppy at all.  Then again, my wife's Dell laptop does not use Conexant SmartAudio HD for sound drivers.
Can you provide any help with this strange issue with using the microphone for recording so it won't come across all choppy?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thanks for the reply.  I got it worked out...  I contacted Audacity and went over and over everything them.  I downloaded and installed the latest audio drivers from Lenovo too (version 8.54.4.51).  On my Lenovo G570 with the Conexant SmartAudio HD package, I had to do into the "recording devices" section of the audio after selecting the microphone (either internal or external - if it's plugged in).  Then click on "Advanced" and go down to the checkboxes and uncheck:
Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device
    Give exclusive mode applications priority
    ...and finally...
    Enable audio enhancements
Click OK, exit out of it, close everything, reboot...
Sha-zam..  Audacity records perfectly fine without any problems, choppyness, cutting in/out, etc... and on all tracks, while other tracks are playing.

  • Audigy SE & Windows Vista Home Premium - No sound after sl

    Hi Everyone,
I installed an audigy se card in my media center since the onboard audio wasn't supported in Vista anymore. Sound (at least 2.) seems to be all good until I put the machine to sleep while in Media Center. When I wake up the machine, there is no audio in media center, regardless of how much I fiddle with the volume/mute buttons. The only way I can restore audio is if I quit media center and reopen it (for a media center pc, this is sort of a pain).
Has anyone encountered this and what was the solution? Thanks in advance!
    Here are my machine specs:
    - 2.54 GHz P4
    - ASUS P4PE-BP
    - GB RAM
    - Windows Vista Home Premium
    - ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
    - ATI TV Wonder Elite
    - Audigy SE (with latest vista drivers)

I have exactly the same problem, with exactly the same solution (quit and restart Media Center).
Does anyone have any ideas? I have looked at BIOS options as well as power options, driver and audio in Vista.
I find it odd that restarting Media Center fixes the problem. The audio card must have awoke from sleep sucessfully? No reboot or anything else is needed.
    Athlon 64 3000+
    ASUS A8V-VM SE
    GB DDR 3200
    Radeon x550
    Audigy SE
    Netgear WG3T
    Kworld dual tuner 30 PCIe
Only similarity is Media Center and Audigy SE!?!
    Latest drivers for everthing.

  • Windows Vista - Microphone not being recognised

    Hello,
We got a lot of support queries relate to 11.9.900.117/11.9.900.152 on Vista, the microphone just doesn't work in Flash. We can't find the solution for our clients who still on Vista. Video capturing works fine, but microphone stop working on Flash.
What we have so far been advising people is to have a look at this link - http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-pictures/microphone-not-wor king-with-vista/955e8893-d357-4d4e-a3ed-1023400d1d88. Microsoft offers four steps (they say 5 but step 2 is missing) that the user can go through one by one to see if the microphone is working properly!
If that does not work, we direct them to take a look at the FixIt option suggested on this page: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Tips-for-fixing-common-sound-problems
Do you have any solution for this?
P.S. It seems there is no of microphone issue on latest Pepper Flash embed into latest Chrome 31.
    Anatoly

Our basic microphone tests pass, so there's a nuance to your implementation that we're probably not covering.  We'll need to debug the problem to make any meaningful progress on it.  If you want to privately share credentials for a test account to me, you can send me a private message in the forums.
If you'd like to get traction on the bug, you need to point us to a URL that reproduces the problem so that an engineer can look at it with a C++ debugger.  Without a repro case, your bug will not make it to the engineering team.  You're welcome to send me a private message with credentials through the forums -- just click my name.
Alternatively, you could try using different codes and bitrates on Vista to see if there's a viable fallback for that particular target.
The Flash Player implementations between Internet Explorer, Firefox (and other NPAPI browser) and Chrome are all significantly different.  It would also be helpful to understand where this works and where it doesn't.  Chrome may be a viable workaround for your impacted Vista users.

  • Audigy 4 platinum pro Microphone im

Simple one here, i'm just about to buy some leads to connect my condensor mic to my external hub. I just bought a preamp, yet don't have all the leads for it to work. Will a 'balanced /4" TRS connector' fit into the 'Mic imput'/'line-in' of my Audigy 4 platinum pro soundcard? This is opposed to an 'Unbalanced /4" TS connector'. Help will be appreciated! Carry on being CREATIVE
    P3U6!SUn 3H+

    Hi there,
I nearly freaked out when I got the platinum pro as I thought I could get no decent power in direct guitar and microphones. You said you bought a preamp, but there is a preamp switch for Line In/Mic on the front of the hub. I have been using this for boosting mic and guitar signals and it is okay but was wandering what preamp you bought and if you rate it.
Hope I haven't upset you by telling you about the built in pre-amp as it probably isn't the best quality anyway.
    Cheers,
    Paul D.

    Darren,
I used to have this problem too and it's due to some codec pack(Klite) I have installed. Reverting to an older version fix the problem for me.

  • SB Audigy Value Windows XP applications All functions includin What U Hear working Proper

(I didn't try 5./7. but I think it should work) I just mixed the applications from old and new driver packages and tricked the set-up program to install the XP drivers instead. I'm not a sound expert but I'm much more satisfied with tihs driver especially while listenig to music. I didn't try it with any games so I don't know. I've spent ages searching the forums and can find other people who have experienced the problem but have yet found a fix. They've also explained the problem better so I'll try and make this a little clearer also.

  • Why cant install SB Audigy in Windows XP?

Sorry for posting again this matter. Just i still cannot install my Sound Card (SC) Audigy Platinum in Windows (even XP or Vista) anymore. The problem is, one day I installed a new LAN card, after rebooting my computer, the SC Audigy stop working. Then I try to install the drivers (from original CD) again, a message like this "...Cannot find any Sound Blaster products in your computer, pls make sure it is plugged in already..." appear, the result is that i cannot install the drivers (even Windows can detect my SC as a new unknown multimedia device). Afterall, i try to remove all other PCI cards (LAN card, firewire card because i worry that some conflict in IRQ occured) and install a new fresh Windows Xp, but the result also same, the message appear again. But one strange thing is, if I manually instruct Windows to install drivers by show it the \CD\Driver folder in the original CD drivers, then it works but the sound quality is very bad and cannot use EAX also remote control also. Pls help me with this problem. Thanks a lot!

Did your friend install on W2003 or upgrade from an older version of the OS?
When trying to run programs on an OS that is not certified for the programs, it is hit-n-miss whether the OS actually has the support files needed for the programs.
Think about this: the Oracle environment needs OS support in the form of DLLs and other files. The contents of the DLLs are made visible as APIs. Each time Microsoft releases patches, it is possible that the APIs that Oracle used are changed. This is extremely true when a new version of the OS is released, and even more true with stripped versions such as XP Home.
If your friend installed and then applied patches, [s]he may have hit the proper API combination. If you appled patches first, you may have skootched your APIs to the point that Oracle can not longer install.
Even if you happen to get it installed, you run the risk of getting clobbered any time you install a new Microsoft patch. The risk is minimized when you use a certified combination of the OS and application.

  • Audigy 2: Windows XP hang at login after new drivers instal

    Hi All,
I have found that after installing the latest version of the Audigy 2 drivers (<span class="Apple-style-span">SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_000) on my Windows XP SP2, sound works just before you reboot after installation. After the installation reboot, and after you enter your password at the login screen, you hear the logon-sound, and after that XP freezes.
I have booted into Safe mode and disabled all startup items, and Windows then boots normally. However, when I try to narrow down the fault by selecti'vely re-enabling some of the Startup items, it then hangs again (no matter which ones I enable).
So far, the only successful startup config consists of only the CT startup items being enabled.
If I enable ANYTHING (even a single different item each time) else Windows hangs again.
The only solution is to select "Restore last good known configuration" before Windows boots up. Undoing the driver installation using System restore, does NOT help.
    Anyone with any ideas?
    Thanks?

UPDATE: Just updated to SP3 and guess what? Windows hangs at login as before, despite the fact that I was using the older, up to now fully working, drivers.
Solution? Simple! Throw the card in the bin, and enable the onboard soundcard. END of problems! These people at Creative are completely USELESS...Not wasting any more of my time on their crappy products (and programming).
    ++?
    Hi there,
Thanks for the reply; I have already gone back to?<span class="Apple-style-span">SBAX_WBUP2_LB_2_09_006<span class="Apple-style-span">?which seems to be working OK.
The point is however that part of the new release does not work, and I am convinced that it is related to some 'helper' application and not the main driver itself.
    Anyone else having similar trouble?
    Thanks?

  • Audigy 2 ZS - No Microphone - No 5.1 So

    Hey guys!
I'm using Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS and when I bought my pc last year everything worked perfectly. But after I reinstalled Windows XP and installed the newst drivers nothing worked anymore! You know, this is realy annoying, cause with my old pc I had exaclty the same prob but I thought it's related with the machines age.
But this time it realy sucks. I have installed and uninstalled the drivers may be a thousend times but my mircrophone (headset) doesnt work and my 5. speakersystem as well. The funny thing is, my earphones (headset) work just fine.
Please, i realy need some help. I have no idea what else could be done. And after I installed the driver i get an error message like "Bad Handler" or something, but I haven't found a troubleshooting for that, yet.

I'm pretty sure the bass is just produced through the center channel. I have these headphones as well and I get the same thing, no sound for the Sub test. However if I listen to music with a lot of bass it comes out fine. Sounds awesome - great headphones... most of the time. I have some other quirks with them which I'm going to ask about somewhere else.
