Audigy2 ZS DVD-Audio Probl

I have just installed my audigy 2zs sound card. I have figured out and fixed the assorted bugs except one. I am having trouble getting DVD-Audio disks that have CMMP encryption to play. I have been to this forum and others like it and it seems that either windvd or the creative have a problem with the CMMP encryption.
Has anyone found a fix for this?
Those that are able to play dvd-audio disks what dvd dri've are you using?
I currently have two different dri'ves that I have tried it on to no avail.
NEC ND-3520A
Lite-On SOHD-67T
I have also tried a different software DVD player, PowerDVD, it didn?t work either but it reported that it could find the CMMP keys and then went and played the Dolby Digital part of the disk.
I would appreciate any insight into fixing this problem.

Hey , maybe a silly idea , but did you try it with another DVD-rom/ram. (oops you already did that)
This because with my older Asus E66(not the p & p2) i'd also a won't play encrypted dvd-a (won't even read , get a 0MB disk). I've solved it by bying a new DVD-rtom(they ain't that expensi've nowadays) and i can play DVD-A perfectly.
I play them with the Creative DVD-Audio player. But when i want to make copies i use PowerDVD6, and record from what you hear , because with creative DVD-A player it's impossible to record from encrypted DVD-A.
I'm so satisfied about DVD-A , that i boycot SACD already, LOL DVD-AS offers much more , but it's more expensi've for record companies to make , so they prefer SACD , but we want ... MORE
My DVD-A on my original Creative software and PowerDVD6 :
REM-Automatic for the people.
Iron Maiden-Dances Of Death (88KHz !!!! kicks asses)
Gary Numan-Anthology
The Crystal Method-Legion Of Boom
Linkin Park-Reanimation
lol and the Creative DVD-Audio Sampler Disc , with o so decent music
But here in Holland they're hard to find but there're about 600 DVD-A titles , record companies wants us on the SACD , but i want DVD-A, i'll never by a CD-Audio again, 2channels = like mono , i want da 6 channels with real sample rate Message Edited by www_96KHz_tk on 03-02-2005 03:59 PM

  • DVD-Audio probl

Hi all,?I recently discovered that my software bundle that came with my x-fi fatality soundcard includes a DVD-audio player. I always wondered what all the fuss was about (DVD-Audio), so i bought a DVD audio disc and was impressed when i first played it. The problem was that after a few minutes of popping in the disc i got the blue screen telling me that i need to start my computer. I thought it would be a glitch that happens every once in a while, but it happened every time I tried to start the DVD audio player!? Anyone out there have any suggestions? Also I have been having the popping noise that others complain about wtih this soundcard... any help with these problems would be appreciated, thanks!

Open Task Manager and in the Processes tab look for CTDVDA.EXE, right-click on it and select Set Affinity and then make sure only one CPU is selected. To find CTDVDA quicker, in the Applications tab of Task Manager rigth-click on MediaSource DVD-Audio Player and then select Go to process.

  • DVD-Audio and "can not detect sound blaster card" with Audigy2 Va

I recently purchased an "Audigy2 Value" card from an eBay user, because I recently purchased some DVD-Audio discs. I downloaded the Audigy2 drivers from the website, and the Creative MediaSource player. 5. Surround sound worked fine for me, though sometimes the driver would reset to the default 2/2. sound and I would have to re-select 5. sound, which was annoying.
Then I was completely unable to get the MediaSource player to recognise my DVD-Audio discs, and the EAX functionality of the player would never work. The EAX logo never appeared in the player. When I tried installing the MediaSource player from an install disc, I got the message "can not detect sound blaster card". Then I discovered the world of EEPROM problems.
I followed advice from some other threads, including using ScanPCI to get information on the card, which yielded the following result.
When installed on my machine (Asus A7A266 motherboard) the ScanPCI reads:

(Just a note: above you can clearly see that it does not say I have an Audigy, it thinks it is a SBLi've. Is this normal? The card IS an Audigy 2, it says so on the card.)
So, I put the card back on my own PC, thinking this has fixed my EEPROM, but I get the same as before. Subsystem ID 0002h. And of course the install software will not detect the card.
I realise that I could go back to using the web drivers, but this still leaves me with MediaSource not recognising the card and not enabling DVD-Audio or EAX, which is why I bought the card in the first place!
I have heard that the VIA chipset is possibly to blame for the EEPROM problems on the Audigy cards, and certainly it seems like it is not permanent, since it gave different information on the other PC. So now I am seriously considering getting a new motherboard.
Do other motherboards cause this same problem? I don't want to buy another board and get the same trouble. All I want is to be able to install my MediaSource and have it recognise my card so I can listen to my DVD-Audio discs.
    Cheers,
    Russ.

Figured out my problem. Installing the drivers from the web to begin with was a bad idea. They just did not work properly with the card.
The "card not found" problem has gone as well, after installing it in another PC. I am also using the proper install disc now, as the other one I was using turned out to not be for the Audigy 2 value after all, but was an Audigy 2 install disc. That easily explains the "Card not found" error. The differing results from the ScanPCI program are still bizarre, though.
Thanks to all of the people on the forum who posted information in other threads to help me deal with this issue. For now I am sticking with the original drivers from the disc and I am not upgrading.

  • Dvd Audio playback is slow and with pops sou

Hi, i have just got a dvd audio (night at the opera from queen ) and i want to enjot the high quality of this fromat, but with creative media source dvd audio player there's a problem in playback, i can see the lists of the song, select it, but when it plays, there's a pop sound and it's in slow play, there's a second that it plays normal but then it causes the same problem.
i have test it with windvd v6 and gives the same problem.
by the way the sample dvd disc from creative, plays normal. really it's amazing that sound.
I have read many reviews about the copy protection issue, and i think that's the problem, i don't if anyone of you, have played the queen dvd audio?.
the version of the media source dvd audio player is .50.08.
Where can i dowload the latest version of the dvd audio player. i think the last one is .52.04, but i can't find in creative web site an upgrade for this version on the dvd audio media player.
my sound card is Audigy 2 zs internal sound card. and i have the latest drivers and aplicaciones from creative web site upgraded

    Hi,

  • DVD-Audio player does not detect any DVD-Audio sour

    Hi,
I am trying to play a DVD-Audio disc on my computer using the DVD-Audio player software that came with my Audigy 2 card, but the software fails to detect my DVD-ROM dri've as a DVD-Audio source.
I can play audio CDs and DVDs with no problems using the DVD-ROM dri've.
The OS is WindowsXP Pro with SP and I have the latest patches applied to both driver and DVD-Audio player software.
I would appreciate any suggestions if someone experienced this anoying problem and solved it.
    Thank a lot!

DVD Audio encryption security has unfortunately been hacked using the decoders within WinDVD from Intervideo.
As a result, DVD Audio playback using the WinDVD/Audigy combination has been suspended on "new" versions of the software.
I am a registered user of WinDVD and upgraded to WinDVD 7 Platinum in June and DVD Audio was working fine.
I mistakenly downloaded an "upgrade" to WinDVD 7 at the end of July and found all my DVD Audio discs failed to play.
Intervideo (as usual) refused to respond to my technical support queries when I enquired as to whether the DVD audio support was removed in view of the breach of the DVDA encryption.
Thankfully the previous version was still available for download (after much searching on the web) - WinDVD.Platinum.7.0.Release.2.Build 27.07Using a new activation key from the Intervideo website STILL didn't enable DVDA playback on this previous version however.......... I was able to fudge this using the original purchase activation key by changing the PC system date to within 0 days of my initial activation key supply which I had stored in an email.Hey presto - back to WinDVD DVDA support!Intervideo are being very crafty.... they have updated the WinDVD website to remove all references to DVD Audio support and then were answering my technical support queries as if I wasn't configuring my PC correctly.
What versions of DVD Audio playback software are you using?
    Creative DVDAudio player? WinDVD (version?)

  • Recording from DVD-Audio Pla

    How?
    X-Fi Soundcard
GreetingsMessage Edited by zickzack on 09-24-2005 0:22 PM

Can you be more specific? What are you trying to record?
If you mean you want to record the audio you're playing from DVDs (audio DVDs) then I'm afraid you'll have to look elsewhere for that type of information, as that would involve breaking copyright laws (and encryptions depending on what you're playing).

  • DVD-Audio Pla

Hi?I have a XtremeMusic card, with the latest drivers installed (and yes I also have the Digiatla i/o problem after rebbot). The problem is I installed the DVD-Audio player. The player plays but there is no sound, if I use the mouse to move along the track I then get sound until I stop moving the mouse. I can play the same Audio-dvd in PowerDVD v7. The dvd is one of the new released REM cds, that include a dvd of the cd in 5. surround sound. So what is the problem with the Creative DVD-Audio player, if on the same hardware other programs can play the audio. I usually don't like having too many programs installed that offer the same feautes, but i just wanted to try out the player, and it should work. I am getting annoyed at the poor quality of the software, I keep on emailing support and all I seem to get are automatted responses with no solutions to my problems.

Are you using digital speakers? If so, then you will need to switch to the analog outputs for a true DVD-Audio output. The DVD-Audio standard does not allow for digital output and forces analog.
Your PowerDVD may be picking up a Dolby Digital or other such encoded copy of the music. Many hybrid DVD-Audio disks contain both. True DVD-Audio is not compressed at all and is 6-8 channels of unencoded audio.

  • So when can we expect official X-Fi CMSS and DVD audio drive

After this whole bad PR fiasco over modding drivers. When can we expect OFFICAL drivers from creative that support CMSS stereo surround effects and DVD audio in Vista?
Gi've me a timeframe because I feel like breaking my X-FI card into little pieces, digging it, and youtubing it. Or?I could just return it and get my money back. Haha.

Presumably the X-Fi 2 will bring it's own innovations.
EAX6 and higher quality parts for higher SNR responses, and Vista drivers.
We only have the MS certification that proves it, no tech specs of announcements of any kind yet.
If it really does bring something amazing then fine, but I can't see myself jumping for it. My Audigy has served me well and with Daniel_K drivers I've got as good as I'm going to get.
Onboard sound has come on leaps and bounds so after this card, I doubt I'll get another.
If the X-Fi 2 is based on the X-Fi I wonder how long it'll take for someone to edit them and use them with an X-Fi.
Meanwhile, us Audigians are still left out in the cold.

  • Dvd audio only

i am trying to convert dvd audio into a digital format so i can play the audio file in my itunes. i followed some posts which claimed i needed OSE x, and a52decX 0.25. the later program...turned into a .sit icon on the desktop which asks me how to open the program(which i dont know). i also have a folder from the osex program...which is a file with mpeg2 files in it. what do i do from here? please help, and let me know if there is another way of doin this.

A .sit file needs to be expanded first - Use Stuffit expander for that.
Regarding the second part of your question: Use OSeX to extract the audio part only. - Under normal conditions there should be .AC3 files as result. This files that need to be converted to a file format that will work on iTunes. For That I use "mAC3dec" to convert the AC3 to AIFF or MP3.

  • DVD-Audio discs

I apologize if this has already been asked. Will the Superdrive on my iMac be able to play a DVD-Audio disc? I want to be able to ultimately import the music into iTunes.
Please note that I am not talking about ripping the audio from a normal DVD. This album (showing my age) is not available on a normal CD.
    Thanks
iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   1 Gig Ram, Superdrive

I don't see why it couldn't. I've tried this with my iMac. The only thing you have to do different is import into iTunes. When you try to do this normally, the disc will not show up in iTunes. You have to create a folder on the desktop to copy all the songs into from the disc. then you can drag the folder into the iTunes window, and it copies all the songs into your library and music folder. After that is done, you can delete the folder on the desktop.

  • Quick question about Creative DVD audio pla

    Hi all,
I loaded all the drivers and software that came with my Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS. The kit came with a DVD audio sampler disc. When I put the DVD audio disc into my computer DVD ROM dri've, it automatically navigates to the Creative Audio DVD player. The only problem is that the "play" button is greyed out. It will not play the disc. It show in the staus window that the sampler disc is there and ready to go. I have tried every button but can not get to play.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks,

Now when I launch the DVD audio player and try to click on a button it just freezes up and have to end the program in task manager

  • Importing/converting DVD-Audio/Dual Discs

Hello, this is my first post.
I just got the 30 GB Video Ipod today.
I am not having any luck with iTunes importing and converting my dvd-audio/dual discs.
The CD side gets recognized by iTunes but sounds VERY scratchy when it is converted to a format to put on my ipod. Strangely, it also sounds scratchy when I play it on windows media player or any other software player. It also goes silent for a bit sometimes. But it plays fine outside of my computer (e.g. my car) and it isnt scratched.
I flipped it over to the DVD side and iTunes doesn't recognize it so I can't import and convert it. The DVD side sounds fine though when I play the audio on my computer or on an outside player (e.g. my car).
Is there anything I can do?

  • More DVD Audio Problems! Help!

This is the same problem as mentioned before in "dvd audio compatibility". I'm getting a lot of customers coming back with the same problem, and they're all using coax to connect their televisions to their dvd players. Problem is, not everyone has RCA jacks available to them. How should I be encoding these videos in Encore 2.0 to avoid this problem? By default they're all going into Dolby digital 2.0. For the past 2 years, I've used Encore 1, and never had this problem.
What should I be doing in Encore 2?
    Thanks!

    David.
It sounds to me as if there is something much more fundamentally wrong here. ALL your customers should be perfectly okay using CoAxial outputs from their DVD players. It is only DVD-Audio (a completely different format) that has this issue with needing RCA type jacks.
DVD-Video should be perfectly okay outputting via CoAxial cables to a suitable Dolby Digital Decoder.
These people who are missing audio - are they attempting to decode the Dolby Digital stream internally in their players? My guess (and thisis a guess without detailed info) is that they have simply not got their systems set up correctly. Sadly, this is all too common as most end users will never go into the setup pages and will just leave everything at factory defaults (which are rarely ideal)
When we are talking about CoAx connections, are we talking CoAxial Digital Audio connections here, or CoAx TV (RF type) connections? There is a huge difference.

  • How to play dvd-audio or dvd-a discs on iMac?

How do I go about playing dvd-audio encoded discs on my iMac? I have been unsuccessful in finding a decoder that will recognize this format. I don't want to invest in ripper software unless I KNOW it will read and convert this format. Many thanks.

I can play my DVD Audio discs on my MacBook Pro. On all my DVD Audio discs it shows DVD Audio and Dolby Digital. When I insert a DVD Audio disc the DVD player opens and plays the disc. Rou will only get Dolby Digital sound quality though and not DVD Audio sound quality.
