Audiio problems importing slideshow from iphoto into idvd

Hello everyone, I'm new at creating slide shows and videos. I'm creating a montage for a party.
I have created a slides how in iphoto 09, exported it, then opened it in idvd 09. Every time, something gets screwed up in the music I had chosen to play along with the slides how. Usually the first song plays fine, then the second song plays part way, then the first song starts up again.
So, I tried exporting the slide show without audio, figuring I could add it in idvd. However, because it is importing the slide show as a video, I can't seem to get the "audio well" button or any way to add audio to the slide show.
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to add sound? I have also tried saving the slide show as a quicktime movie, but can't seem to import it into either imovie or idvd. Help!!
Thanks very much.

Try this possible solution from acgray on Mac OS X Hints:
I have worked with many users who like to take iPhoto albums and make DVDs of them with iDVD. However, one very annoying bug (feature?) has to do with the fact that when you are in iDVD, it randomizes the sort order of the Photos in your album. Not only that, but it is painstaking and time consuming changing the order in iDVD.
My solution..
Select All in the album in iPhoto you want to use in iDVD as a slideshow. Then use File -> Export -> File Export. The secret is to select "Use Album Name" as this will rename the images in sequential order, based on the order that you put them in. Save them in their own new folder somehwere easy to find (ie on the Desktop).
Then, in iDVD, either drag, or I believe you can import the entire folder into the Slideshow project window, and voila! your slides are in order. I believe you can throw away the folder with the exported images as they should now be saved into the Project, but don't quote me on that.

  • Importing photos from iphoto into idvd

I am trying to import photos from iphoto into idvd for a slideshow. When the photos move into idvd they are not in the same order as they were in the iphoto library. What could be the possible cause of this?? I did go into iphoto and place comments in after the fact. Would that have anything to do with it?

Open your iPhoto Library, go to that particular album and verify that you can view the full sized version of each image by double clicking on them.  Report back with the results.

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

For a quick look, or are you trying to migrate?

  • Exporting slideshow from iphoto to idvd /message says" disc is full"

when exporting slideshow from iphoto to idvd /message says" disc is full" It is a new mac with 2gb extra memory. I have cleared out all extraneous files, so there should be room on the disc. Help, this is a student''s work and would love to help them burn the dvd slideshow.

IS this your Hard Disk is full?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of HD space to function normally. It uses this space for things like Virtual Memory and temporary files and other OS operations.

How did you do this? Did you empty the trash?

  • Imported slideshows from iPhoto with problems

I am new to Aperture, but I am trying it out because of a bug causing problems with slideshows in iPhoto. I imported the the library with albums and slideshows from iPhoto. When trying to view slide shows in Aperture, a lot of the photos do not focus/show very low resolution. I have searched the settings and checked the originals' metadata without finding any obvious explanations. Does anyone else have experience with this. Are my settings wrong, or could it be problems carried over from iPhoto?

It seems edited photos from iPhoto library does not change the original photos where they were imported from.
That's correct. iPhoto will never change the Original photo.
iPhoto is a Digital Asset Manager and treats your original file like a film shooter treated the negative. It preserves it at all costs. So, every operation - editing, exporting etc - are carried out on a copy of the original file.
As Apearl suggests, you may be using more disk space than you need: Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
A +Managed library+, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing
A +Referenced Library+ is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.

  • Importing photos from iphoto into aperture

    Hi
I am currently importing my photos one album at a time from iphoto into aperture as this is what I was told is the best way to do it. My organization up to now ***** so I am trying to organize everything now. But I have pictures in my iphoto library that were never put into an album, so how will I be sure that I have all the photos imported into aperture before I delete them???? Also how can you tell if all the pictures in a project are in an album? I had a picture in 2 different albums and deleted it from one album but it deleted it from both - what did i do wrong??

You may want to invest a tiny bit of time reading something like this before you put a whole bunch of time into organizing things in Aperture:

  • Problem importing photos from iPhoto

I want to import photos from iPhoto. I only want to import photos from two or three albums in iPhoto on my iMac. When I plug in the iPad Air, I choose sync from selected albums. I choose the albums I want to import from and click on "sync" or "apply". When the sync process gets to step 5, "importing photos", it stays on that step never able to proceed to step 6. Is this an iCloud problem? Thanks for your help.

I found out what the problem was. "iCloud Photo Sharing" was turned off on my iPad. Now everything is working great. I would have just deleted the inquiry, but I could not find out how to do that.

  • Import Photos from IPhoto into 3rd party Photo Book Maker?

Using BookSmart from Blurb, to make a photo book, this a GREAT piece of software BTW, I need to import photos from IPhoto and can't seem to see how do it? Not sure I even can. Any help??

Assuming the program has an Import option that brings up an Open/Save/Attach file browser window, look in the left hand sidebar for Photos, under the Media heading at the bottom. It will show you your iPhoto library. Probably easiest if you first create an album in iPhoto for the photos you think you are likely to use.
Alternatively, browse the Blurb site for an FAQ and find:

How do I use iPhoto pictures with BookSmart?
To view JPGs and PNGs that are stored in iPhoto, click the My iPhoto Images bar in the left content column of BookSmart. Choose which album you’d like to view via the dropdown menu, and then drag and drop the images into your book. BookSmart will only make copies of images you actually drag (or autoflow) to pages of your book.

  • Better Slideshow from Iphoto or IDVD?

I have a project I'm working on. It's strictly going to be digital photos, but there are about 400 of them. IDVD can create the slideshow, but I can only fit 99 slides in each section. This means I have to make four different slideshow. Furthermore, IDVD will only apply one type of transition to each slideshow, not individual slides.
I can make a slideshow from Iphoto that fits all of the pictures and I can customize the transitions for each slide.
I'm just wondering which one provides a better quality slideshow. I understand that Iphoto has a few more options to work with, but slideshows can only be exported to small, medium, or large. Will there be a noticeable quality difference between the two programs?
    Thanks for any input..

I made the video 720X480 or 'large'.
This is actually the rectangular ('thin') NTSC DV video pixel size - in digital still image terms the real size is 640x480.
I've noticed, sacrificing a dvd to do so,
that the slideshow I made from iphoto fills the
entire screen while the one from idvd does not. I've
also noticed that some of the edges (nothing really
major) are cut off on my CRT TV.
CRT display devices (like TV sets) have something called 'ovescan' to hide the syncronization pulses included in the video signal.
iDVD gives you a choice of correcting for overscan if your DVDs will be viewed on TV sets (but on computer monitors, you will see black edges).
The video does not look as good as it could, but I
guess it is acceptable. I wonder if we'll have
higher quality options in the future release of IDVD?
Right now we are limited by the NTSC/PAL DV specification. As we all make the transition to HD, things should get a little better.

  • Elements importing photos from iPhoto into nonsensical folders - how do I convert events or import into dated folders from iPhoto into elements?

Please help! Can't seem to find the answer on the website or anywhere else online. I don't see an option to convert events from iPhoto into folders in elements. Any advice would be appreciated.

The whole point of a program like organizer is to ignore the folders and use tags and categories instead. However, if you want to preserve the iphoto events then the way to do it is not to use "from iphoto" but rather to export each event from iphoto separately, organize your folders how you want them, where you want them and then use "from files and folders" instead.

  • How do you import photos from iPhoto into lightroom?

I have lightroom 5.7 and OX10.9.5 if it matters.  I can't find the iPhoto photos and dragging them in doesn't do anything.

or this plug-in (yes it says Aperture but it works for iPhoto too): Aperture import plugin now available

  • Problems "pulling" photos from iPhoto into iMovie....

I am trying to create a movie with a combination of movie clips from my DV camera and photos from iPhoto (on my G5, 2ghz iMac). Movie clips are no problem. The problem occurs when I try and "pull" in more than 20 pics or so from iPhoto. I am trying to "pull" them in via "Media" and then "Photos". If I try and pull in a bunch, say more than 20, iMovie quits and I have to start all over again. Is this a bug and is there any workaround?

I actually think this is one area where iMovie6 does a lot better than iM5. My machine used to choke all the time when I would try to drag a whole bunch of photos into timeline. The reason is that whenever you bring in photos like that, they have to be rendered, so trying to render a whole lot of stuff is going to be time dependent based on your processor, memory etc. (and the settings you have for timelength, ken burns effect etc.) iM5 tried to render everything simultaneously and would always lock up on me. iM6 appears to render one at a time so it eventually finishes, but then I stopped trying to import large bunches of photos after my iM5 experience so I can't say where the limit is.
I've gotten so fond of playing with the ken burns effect and setting the start and stop points that I pretty much do all my images one at a time now because it can render the last one while I'm picking settings for my next one.
