Audio adjustment in multicam clip

I have a multicam clip in which the and I am trying to reduce the "squech" from a P.A.'s feedback.
I have four cameras, and the section I'm working on has the video from Camera 3 and the Audio is from Camera 3 as well. This is not the case with ALL of the P.A.'s feedback occurances, however.
I tried to isolate the section of the multicam in the timeline, then chose "Expand Audio and Video," but when I tried to lower the volume in the section, it seemingly has no effect.
I tried doing the same only chosing "Expand Audio Components," but got the same results.
When I expanded the clip, it displays an "2" within a speaker icon (?), then the date and time of the clp then "a1." Does that mean that I'm trying to adjust the audio from Camera 1, even though I'm not using that?
If you can suggest the workflow in order to isolate and adjust the audio used in a multicam clip, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance,
Gary

I would think it would be easiest to open the muticlip in the Angle Editor where you would have a clear view of each individual angle and its audio.

  • Audio Level Adjustment for Multicam Clip

    Greetings,
I have 2 issues while some audio tweaking for a Multicam edit.  I have assigned the audio for a single angle to apply to the entire sequence.   There are some clips in the sequence where, at times, I cannot adjust the level of the audio.  It will show the level when clicking with the selector, but it cannot be dragged up or down.   Stranger still, if I select it within a series of clips and use CTRL -/+ to change levels, it is unchanged even though all the others changed.  There is nothing differnent about the clips in question (they are not Compound Clips or anything.)
Restarting seems to often fix the above problem.  But it seems to be happening enough that it's a real inconvenience.  Also I am having similar issues with the audio level meter freezing up intermittently.  Sometimes when I toggle audio skimmer it can correct it for a while, but once it starts, a restart is inevitable.   Does anyone have any workarounds for making this work properly?
One last question that is not a glitch but a functionality I hope exists but cannot find.  Given that I have one angle of audio for the entire clip, I want very badly - and feel like it should be possible - to make adjustments to the audio as I would if it were one continuous clip; for instance, to be able to select a range across the clip transitions and adjust levels accordingly.  So far the best workaround is to select all the clips and use CTRL -/+ to adjust.  But this allows less control, because I must then go in and adjust sections of clips on the ends that I did not want changed.   Would love to  know if anyone knows a way!
Thanks for your time and assistance!
    Brian

  • Only one angle visible and no audio audible in multicam clip

Two source media clips are ProRes and one is AVCHD.  Creating the multiclip seems to work in so far as making a clip with 3 camera angles in it.  But only one camera angle's picture is actually visible; the other two are black frames.  No audio is heard at all.  All 3 source media clips have audio and that's how I synched them.  I can't see any audio waveforms in the multicam clip in the sequence.  With the multicam button activated, I can make the yellow rectangle move around as though something were there, but no picture.  In the multicam creation dialogue, I chose track 1 audio for synch and camera 1 to be my audio source.  I am using the latest version of PP CC.
I saw a long thread from June/July 2013 discussing a similar problem, but that supposedly has been fixed.  What is happening here?  I exported a Final Cut Pro 7 project with 2-angle multi-clips in it, imported that XML file into Premiere and the multiclips worked fine.  This is a different project, but I have no idea why this is not working.  The answer is not in the instructions.

I do wish the PDF would include the original, manual method of multicam sequence creation, preferably as the first option, as that method still works just fine and often works better than the 'auto' methods now hyped.
For interested readers, here's the process:
    1. Create a sequence.
    2. Add your clips.
    3. Sync them up.
    4. Create a second sequence.
    5. Nest the first sequence into the second.
    6. Right click that nested sequence and select Multi-Camera>Enable.
A very simple process that works every time.

  • How to Sync Audio with a Multicam Clip?

    Hello,
I have three cameras angles that I have synced up, but I can't figure out how to sync my separate audio track to my multi cam clip. Can somebody please advise me on this. Thank you!
    Trey

    Thanks Tom,
Do you know the best way to set markers when using multi cam clips? Is it better to set the marker to one of the clips before creating the multi cam clip, or set them to the actual multi cam clip?
    Thank you!

  • Manually balance audio tracks in Multicam Clip

I have an audio file taken from the sound board for a theatrical performance that I videoed on two cameras.  The audio on this file is clean, but weak in comparison to the ambient audio I recorded with my camcorders, and alone is not adequate.  How can I best juice that audio track -- I have used the auto balancing as I understand it, but that understanding may be inadequate?  The mix of all gives the fullest sound, but I don't think the audio source which should be best on voices is really contributing much.  Can I do this in the editor for the multi clip, or would it be best for me to enhance it separately and re-create the multi cam clip with that enhanced audio file?
    Ernie

I have marked this solved, even tho' I have not yet attemped to follow the advice.  What I think is solved, given your knowledge Tom, is that I have not missed something in the editing of such a multi cam clip with respect to audio.  I will need to figure out how I want to enhance the audio clip before jump in, and what tools I have available.

  • Using audio of current multicam clip?

When I am making cut between different videos in multicam, it only plays the audio from the first video. I want it so when I cut from the first video to the second video, the audio changes to the current video. How can I do this?

Enable the option "Multi-Camera Audio Follows Video." You'll find it in the panel menu for the Timeline as well as the Source Monitor.

  • Audio pops/clicks when changing angles in multicam clips

I am having problems with audio pops/clicks when working with angle switching in multicam clips. it always occurs when i utilize any of the "audio enhancements" features, such as the loudness or background noise removal features. Switching angles results in audible audio pops. The only way to get rid of them is to disable the audio enhancements. This occurs regardless of the audio source. Is this a known bug that is being addressed? I rely heavily on the audio editing features in my work and am hoping this will be resolved in an update soon. Thanks for any help-

Hi Brad, thanks for the reply!
That sounds like a good workaround. What I have been doing in the meantime is create a new compound clip after I finish all of my cuts, and then apply the audio edits to the new contiguous audio clip in the compound clip.
What is really strange and frustrating is that all of my new audio bugginess really began when I could no longer detach audio from my multicam clips in 10.0.9... After doing many searches here, it seems that in this most recent update of FCPX this is no longer a 'feature'... I don't know why they changed this, but in older updates of FCPX you could detach audio from original clips, compound clips, or multicam clips with no problems. I would routinely create and edit all of the angle cuts in my multicam clips in the timeline, and then if I wanted to, be able to detach the audio and do more edits if needed. Thankfully I can still apply edits to compound audio clips, but it would sure be nice if I could just correct/enhance audio without ugly-sounding artifacts in multicam edits. Thanks again-

  • How can I use all tracks from multi-channel source audio with Multicam clips?

I cannot figure this out. Working in Premiere I'm prepping for a 2 camera show, with typically 4 to 6 track dual-system audio recorded by the sound guy. I can sync, and make multicam clips any number of ways–whether sync by timecode, sync by audio, or eyeballing–but whenever I edit using the MC clip, Premiere mixes down all the audio channels into a stereo single track, and I cannot pick and choose which audio track from the original to use. With 2-5 people mic'd on lavs, I need to be able to choose which audio is either cut in or heard at any given shot.
Is there any way to have control in multicam clips over which track of audio gets edited into the timeline, or even: that all tracks of audio get cut in? It's very important for the editors to be able to see waveform (which also disappears for some reason in the mixdown) and pick and choose which audio is heard?
I'm sure this might be a simple fix, but I cannot get my head around it for workflow purposes for my assistant editors. We need to use multicam, but this audio thing is driving all of us crazy. None of us can figure out how to have a multicam clip and use it with control over what audio is cut in.

True, but what I need to be able to do is have my multicam sequence in the source monitor, and cut into my working sequence with either just the audio I need from the sound guy's multi-channel WAV, OR cut in all the sound and from then I can just enable or disable what I need or don't need. But also be able to match back to the Multicam source from my working sequence.
I don't want to have to open the synced sequence, and razor blade the things I need and have to copy and paste into my working sequence in order to have the full spectrum of my multi-channel mono lav WAV files...with their waveforms visible.
Essentially, I want my Multicam clips to load in the source monitor, and the ability to cut them into the working sequence without it mixing down the audio into a single track with no visible waveform–which is what it is doing currently. Can I choose to edit in either ALL of the tracks of the WAV file along with the camera shot I want, or control which audio gets cut in?

  • How to use two audio souces in one multicam clip

I have a three cameras, and an additional audio source.  Making the multicam clip with of the four elements was easy, however I would like to use both the audio from two different sources at the same time.  Is this possible?  I know about switching the audio from one source to the other, but in some cases, I have talent on stage left and on stage right, and I need the audio pick up from both regardless of the video angle.

You can do it this way.
In the multicam select audio to left clip.
Then find the right clip, detach its audio, take its audio & align it to the multicam clips.
This way you have audio from let & right

  • How to mute ALL audio in one single go in an edited multicam clip?

    Hi there
I'm having to replace some audio in an already edited multicam clip. (there are mulitple audio parts I'm replacing by the way)
How can I mute ALL of the audio in one go, as I have about 400 cuts and am currently having to mute one by one per cut.
    thanks

Easy. Select them all. In the inspector, click the Audio tab. Under "Channel configuration", uncheck the box which would say something like "400 selected clips".

  • Clip inspector in imovie not working properly - when I select a picture - and select clip adjustment it tells me that I need to select one or more clips to view Inspector tools and in a clip the audio adjustment only shows a speaker? help

Clip inspector in imovie not working properly - when I select a picture (in project library) - and select clip adjustment it tells me that I need to select one or more clips to view Inspector tools and when I select a movie clip and then click on audio adjustments the audio adjustment appears as a speaker icon and I don't know how to get to the various audio options? It was working fine one minute and then I seemed to lose the functionality. Also editing a photo in a photo or getting rid of ken burns effect etc does not seem to work. help

Can anyone shed any light on this as I am having the same problem? One minute it works fine, the next you get the error message above.
    Many thanks.

  • Multicam Clip Audio Channel config greyed out

I shot an interview with two cameras.  One of those cameras had the audio (lav on left, boom on right).  That audio was imported as a stereo track on import, the angles where multicamed, and the edit happened.
Now I have a timeline with all my audio playing in stereo (lav on left boom on right).  I want to change from stereo to dual mono so I can audio mix properly, but when I select the multicam clip in the timeline, the channel configuation in the inspector lists it as stereo and the dual mono option is greyed out. (don't know why they won't let me change here)
I can go back to the event and select the multicam clip there and change it to dual mono and it will also change in the timeline.  So that seems like a work around, but I can't select MULTIPLE multicam clips in the event and batch change the channel config to dual mono.  Says "selected clips are from different multicam clips."
Am I going to have to select every single multicam clip individually in the event browswer and change the channel configuration on each one?

As far as I understand it, you cannot switch a "container" clip like the multicam to dual mono since it contains a clip which is stereo inside it. This makes sense, as per se it is not the multicam that is stereo or not.
You should make the change from stereo to dual mono in the actual AUDIO clip - either before creating the multicam, or after - in this case, after :-)
Open the multicam clip in Angle Editor (control-click the clip in the timeline and choose "Open in Angle Editor").
Now select the clip that contains the audio and make the change. Note that this WILL affect the relevant clip even outside the multicam.

  • Audio level reduced by a few dB fr orig multicam clip

I'm baffled to figure out why the audio level in the 1st multicam clip is always higher when I take that multicam clip and put it in another project. The audio level is reduce by -3 to -6 dB. Now I have to increase everything by about 3 to 6 dB in the initial multicam clip so that that will be within the level I wanted when I put it in the project timeline. Is there anyway to get a 1:1 pass-through, unaltered audio level just like what it is in the initial multi cam clip?

  • MULTICAM CLIP, retiming without affect audio

i am editing a multicam project, in time line  i want to retime a clip without to affect the audio, so i lift it from storyline, press cmd r and retime, but the angle audio too is affected i want to speed up just the video  and to fill gap with brolls pictures, graphic or whatever. thanks.

My first thought was the same as Karsten's, but then I checked and, indeed, "Detach Audio" does not seem to be available in a multicam clip.
I was able to do what you asked by adding a new angle. Made a copy of the existing angle and pasted into this new angle. Now you can use one angle just for the audio and you can do anything you want with the video in the other angle.
