Audio all unrendered. Editor (me) frustrated. Help, please!

Hi! So, I'm helping an actress friend cut together her demo reel. All the footage is being imported from (non-copy protected) DVDs. I'm using MPEG Streamclip to export the footage from the DVDs (using Export to DV(DV25)). When the clips are imported into FCP, the audio needs to be rendered, which is making things very cumbersome.
I know that unrendered issues are usually about differences in the clip's format and the sequence settings. Both the clip and the sequence setting are 48KHz; the only difference I see is under "Aud Format", where the sequence setting is '32-bit Floating Point' and the clips are '16-bit Integer'. If this is the setting that's causing the problem, I don't know where to tweak it; I can't find a way to change this, either in FCP's sequence settings, or in Streamclip's options.
Is this my problem? If so, how do I fix it? If this isn't the problem, any other guesses?

First thing you could try is bring in the audio into Soundtrack Pro and make it an .aiff. Than when you bring it into FCP you can sync it up and the audio should not need to be rendered.
Also if you need to tweak any imperfection do it while in Soundtrack Pro.

Should be able to go into your sound preferences and choose your output device, you can also try downloading Airfoil and try that, it's a pretty cool app.

SB X-fi Xtreme Audio PCI-E Not working correctly help please

Hi i have a SB X-fi Xtreme Audio PCI-E card on my pc , i have currently installed windows 7 and for months now i am trying to make the card work .. I have a poor sound especially when there is bass, the card is not detected by windows 7, its detected as a high definition audio device , when i plug my mic is not found..and i cant use the creative applications because is says its not supported or i have no creative poroducts on my pc ... I have tried all the latest drivers and stil have the same problem.. HELP PLEASE !!

First, uninstall all creative drivers, console, from add/remove. Restart computer install: . ConsoLCu.exe have all the options you need. Creative forget about thier sound board, thier drivers, bass, treble, etc, about customers. If you install thier drivers from their website you will not have BASS, and also an crappy sound. You need to install Creative Console from google, or from http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-Blaster/PAX-Console-Launcher-V-0/td-p/549970 to have bass, crystalizer, etc. I also have Creative Audio PCI-e board..... crappy chipset, just like Sb Li've 24 biti PCI.

I have Just noticed ( 11.10.2012 ) all the description text on all of my iTunes Pages is missing ! - no 'i' symbol, just to lines - - .
Any ideas or help please, nothing changed my end !

On a similar note, any TV Shows that I have purchased from the iTunes store since 10.7.0.21 have no descriptions associated or embedded within the file downloads. I have to add them manually to my iTunes library, which is a bit annoying.
Any ideas?

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive may be failing.
Launch the usual set of applications you use when you notice the problem.
Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the page that opens.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. What approximate values are shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec?
Step 2
You must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way as above. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Post the 50 or so most recent messages in the log — the text, please, not a screenshot.

Audio driver issue??? Help please

I've been experiencing this problem eversince I got this laptop last august.. its a satellite m305d-s4830 4g ram 250g hd amd turion ultra x2 zm-80 2.0ghz proc. My audio playback seem to stutter a lot playing in media player. even videos keep on stuttering from time to time. I have downloaded all the drivers from this page even bios update even the southbridge driver from ati including the latest support for an integrated amd 3100 motherboard. without luck it didn't changed anything so i ignored it.. i used different players for both videos and audio. and they were fine until recently my laptop is experiencing real slow downs so i used the resotre cd.. so its freshly installed like out-of-the-box. its sad because now when i'm multi-tasking while using winamp for music it keeps on stuttering. i've exhausted everything and i'm not successful in figuring out what's wrong help me please... by the way i have vista home premium 64bit for os. thnx

thnx for the reply and im considering of the possibility of the device heating up but im sure its not because of the temp of the proc. however i think i might know the culprit for this.. the issue only happens when i'm using the laptops speakers and if the volume is maxed now if i would plug in a headphones or external speakers perhaps the issue wouldn't happen at all.. what could i possibly do about this one? i know i could get along by plugging in an extra device but i'm still bothered by the issue and hoping to solve it soon.. thnx

Audio Going out of sync problem, Help Please

Hey all.
So I have just filmed about 3 hours worth of gaming videos using XSplit recorder,
in a mp4 format, and when I played it back using VLC it all seemed fine.
However I went to import it into premiere to start editing it I noticed the sound was completly out.
I have recorded some audio and video times listed below to show the sync times and how they are out.
Video Audio
00:41:24 - 00:44:09
47:46:25 - 50:11:12
As you can see it gets worse over time.
I could manualy do a time shift on the audio to align it but thats a lot of work as I have multiple clips to edit and would like a proper fix for it
I did some quick research and found one fix was to make the sequence settings the same as the video file, but that didnt work for me.
also trying to conform the video file also didnt help me out.
Anyone have any other ideas?

Premiere Pro CC audio pops then cuts out. HELP PLEASE.

Driving me nuts...
Read all the forums. Tried reinstalling, deleting .cfs files, changing audio inputs, everything.
What is happening is that when I play back, the audio will "pop" (like feedback, loud, distorted, sounds like its hurting my speakers) then just not play anything. Levels monitor will be firing away, waveforms are there. Matching back to source monitor does nothing. Totally silent.
When I quit I hear another pop as the program exits.
The rest of the computer has sound functions (iTunes, internet, everything)
Anyone?
Macbook pro 2011 - 10.8 - 16 gigs of ram - playing off secondary internal SSD drive. 4 tracks of sync sound. Thanks.
PS - just noticed a little warning triangle at the bottom right of the program that says "Audio Dropout Detected at 1:11.442 in Adobe Player" - no idea what the hell that means.
PSS - I have a feeling its because of the video. I'm editing RED (4k) - when the video is just on one track its no problem, but as soon as I put it above another clip, then it pops and cuts out.

I dropped 8K on a new mac pro, thinking, foolishly, to just throw some computing power at it...
My friends, Adobe just hates macs.
Both my D700 GPUs are kinda useless to Premiere. nVidia won and I guess Adobe could give two sh*ts about anyone on a new mac. I was hoping to go to premiere after Apple decided to drop FCP. What's amazing, as a commercial editor in NYC, EVERYONE was either on FCP or Avid (much more FCP) so there was lots of business to pick up... but the more I talk to people, and stories like this get shared, the more people are moving over to Avid, even FCPX if you can stomach it. Such a shame because AE, PS and the rest should work so nicely together... they just couldn't make it easy for non nVidia people or mac people.
I've tried contacting them (I'm even on their customer review panel) but no one seems to be able to patch this up. I've done 2 clean installs on my new mac, because I've gotten to the point that every premiere freezes, its a restart. Unreal. Been editing for 10 years and never had problems like this... even when we started putting Avid on a mac.
Failed and quite pissed. Not for nothing Adobe, if you're listening, I've got a real mind to use every piece of my social media platform to bring this to your attention - this program has wasted so much of my time (and money, jeebus) that it's almost immoral what's been going on.

Removing the SIM has no affect on the power of the phone. It is just the part that facilitates connecting to your carrier. Try holding the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo on the screen and then release the buttons. The phone should reboot. You may need to hold the buttons together for 15-30 seconds.

Latest Adobe Reader update deleted all files from my desktop - help please!

Dear all!
Yesterday I opened up a .pdf document with Adobe Reader. I clicked the Help | Check for Updates option. The reader informed me that there was an update available. I then disabled my antivirus (as is recommended). I selected the available update by checking the box next to it. I then clicked the Download option.
The update began to download. At that moment I noticed that the .pdf document was still open (i.e. Adobe Reader was still running). Knowing that the installation, when it begins, tends to notify me that it must close Adobe Reader in order for the installation to continue, I decided to close Adobe Reader myself before being prompted to do so. All was fine until that moment, as the update download and install runs in a completely separate process from the Reader, it was not affected.
After I closed the Reader, with the update still running I noticed that all files I had on my desktop were gone. None of the folders were missing, just the single files and most of my shortcuts. I checked to see if the files were just invisible or phisically missing. It was the latter. Windows Explorer showed that all files I had on my desktop were gone (deleted/overwritten I guess). A search of my computer for the file names came up empty, even though I was searching with the "search hidden and system files" options enabled!
I tried a number of deleted file restoration softwares but none have identified the desktop files I was missing.
Be so kind as to spare me from the "did you check the power cord" category of "answers", as I am not a complete idiot. The Acrobat Update, or something associated with it has to be at the root of this problem, as the antivirus software I have installed came up empty when I searched the computer for virurses, worms and the likes...
All help on this matter would be appreciated. Needless to say, most of my current work was stored on the desktop...

I must first say that this is a very puzzling problem, and that I have never heard of anything like it. Apart from the missing desktop content, it also puzzles me that you state your Adobe Reader version as 9.34, when the latest Reader version is actually 9.3.2.
Anyway, how to solve it? Can I assume that you do not have a very recent backup, from where you can simply restore all the lost content?
I do not know if your desktop content is really gone (deleted), or if it is somehow just not visible. There are a few things we can try, but I strongly suggest that you make a full backup of your system before you try anything!
Since I have never seen this before, I cannot make any definitive recommendations, but just suggest what I would do if that happened on my computer. Again, not before making a full backup.
Uninstall Adobe Reader.
System Restore to a time before the problem started.
Check the following registry keys, if they have a value 'NoDesktop', and what it is set to
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer
If you are on XP Pro, you can use gpedit.msc to check these settings (Configuration | Administrative Templates | Desktop ["Hide and disable all items on the desktop"]).

Have I deleted all my photos?? Help, please!

I received an email with some jpg attachments that I wanted to save. So, I saved them to my pictures folder and then moved them to iPhoto. Then, once I had them in iPhoto I went back to my pictures folder to delete them from there but I think I accidentally deleted the iPhoto folder too. When I open iPhoto, I can see the list of events and photos - all the file names are there, it knows event names and how many photos are in each event, they all seem to be there under photos, even the folders I've made are there - with the correct names and number of images. BUT.... I can't see them. I go to open each image and I get nothing. I just can't believe that they're all gone, if I can still see their file names??? Oh - and I pulled the iPhoto folder from trash so it's not in there anymore. Can you tell I'm new to all this?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Open the iPHoto Library package like this, go the Originals folder and verify that the original image files are still in the various subfolders. Once you do that launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the first three options.
If that doesn't resurrect the library you'll have to start over with a new library and import the originals folder as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the Events from the original library.
Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
Open the library package like this.
Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library if you have the Finder checkbox unchecked in the Events preference pane.
To help recover from a similar problem in the future, damaged database file, see the tip at the end of my signature.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Audio Monitoring with Guitar input? HELP, please?

Running a MacPro, with Logic Pro 7.2.3. I have recently purchased an IK Multimedia STEALTHPLUG, to record electric guitar.
I am able to get the device to operate properly in Garageband, and Ableton Live 5. But, in Logic Pro, i cannot get the audio to be monitored through my USB speakers. I can only hear 'live' guitar/as i play it if i choose the Stealthplug audio 'driver' option in Audio Hardware and Drivers. In this case, the live guitar is heard through the headphones plugged into the Stealthplug's headphone jack. I can also hear the Logic softsynths through the headphones, as well as any audio tracks recorded. When i switch back to the Core Audio driver, i can hear the guitar tracks i've already recorded, as well as the synths. But, the switching back and forth is ridiculous, and Core Audio has to be 're-booted' each time.
But, i need/want to monitor ALL sound through the speakers. I've tried all manner of settings, but i get nada. Spoke with iKMultimedia, but they seem to be shirking responsibility now because the device works with other apps.
I've tried the Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, as well as System Preferences>Sound. No combination of settings work.
Mac OS X (10.4.7)

You need to setup an Aggregate Device in Audio/MIDI setup. Design it with the Stealthplug as the input and the speakers as the output. Then select that device as the I/O within Logic. (I'm not sure where that particular setting is located, since I'm not in the studio at the moment, but I'm sure that the process is described in the manual.)
