Audio and animation synching

It was easy enough to synch audio and animation with indesign. So what's the big deal about getting it happening for edge animate !
There's a big potential for this that the adobe developers seemed to have over looked.

I would almost bet that they're Flash audio/animations.
Download and install Adobe Flash Player -> http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/. Quit your browser during installation and then open it again and log into your account. If you can't see the animations and hear the audio after that, call back.

  • Audio and Video Synch

I did an 18 minute movie with 400 slides and several video clips that were given to me. I also added music. I composed it in Final Cut Express 2.03.
The QT output file has everything in synch. Once I bring it into IDVD some of the video clips have the audio out of synch. They are short clips and they are 16 bit.
Given the clean QT file is it possible it is just my machine not keeping up (older G4/400 so it is slow by today's standards) and when I go to burn the DVD it will be OK? If not are there any other things I can do? Again, everything appears clean in FCE and Quicktime. Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance,
    Gary

If you mount the disk image on your desktop, you should be to play the VIDEO_TS folder from within Apple's DVD Player App. If all is well (you should watch the entire DVD to be sure), then it was a good build and safe to burn. Both Toast and Disk Utility can burn this to a DVD for you. This is actually the preferred method of creating a DVD because you can test out your build before commiting to a disc and you are less likely to have burn issues due to iDVD balking in the middle of the burn.
As for ensuring a clip is 16-bit or not... that can be deceiving... for example, if you shot footage using 12-bit audio on your video camera and then captured it in iMovie, from that point forward, every app that looks at that file will think it is 16-bit audio when it fact it's not. Remember, when you capture footage, you are telling it what type of file it is, etc, so when it saves the content, it saves it with the exact settings you told it save, whether appropriate or valid or not.

  • How do I import a PowerPoint presentation that has embedded audio and animation?

I have a presentation that was created in PowerPoint and each POwerPoint slide has a embedded m4a audio file.  Is there a way to import the audio with the slides or playback the PPT with the audio and do it as a screen capture where the audio is recorded straight across with out having to go out through the speakers and in through the microphone?

    Hi there
You should be able to play the PPT and record it from Captivate as a Video Demo. When you record, you should also see an option for recording System Audio.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Audio and Animation Synchronization

I am working in Flash Pro 8. My project is 3 minutes long. It
includes background music and narration. The audio files are each
in the library as MP3s and are called in by sound objects via
actionscript. I have animated words that need to match up to the
narration. It works great on my top of the line G5 but as soon as I
transfer it to a PC or any slower computer the synchronization of
the animation and narration gets all out of wack. It starts off
okay but gets worse and worse as time goes on.
The only information I have found on this issue pertains to
audio that is sitting in the timeline and can be set to "stream."
Since my audio is called in by sound objects I am at a loss. I need
the audio to be called in with sound objects so I can control
volume and on/off buttons for the background music and the
    narration independently.
Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I think what you're trying to do is impossible. There is a
potential workaround for the issue of having streaming sound AND
stopping and starting the audio, but not for changing the volume.
You can put each sound file into the timeline of an empty separate
movie clip that you place on the stage. Within each movie clip,
obviously the timeline will have to match the length of the audio
track. Set the properties to Stream. Then you can use Action Script
to play() and stop() that movie clip, hence pausing the soundtrack.
That also gives you the ability to use script to skip to specific
frames or markers within that movie clip. But as for controlling
the volume, I think you're out of luck. Flash is still quite
limited in how it treats sounds. Unless I'm wrong, there isn't a
way to use script to set the properties of a sound to
    Streaming.

  • Embedding audio and animation into DPS using Edge Animate CC

    Hello all,
    I'm using all CC programs.
I've created an animation in Edge Animate that I would like to place into my InDesign doc for DPS.
The animations match up with sound file that I've imported into my EA file. I've tried using the buzz.js script (step-by-step as per the video tutorials I saw), but to no avail.
Is there a way to place/embed the animation along with the sound for DPS?
The animation will need to be simultaneously activated by the user to play.
Thank you very much in advanced for your help—hopefully there is a solution or some sort of work-around!
    lv

Would you be able to supply a link to your past messages? I'm not sure what messages you're talking about.
Also, I do not need an audio over an audio—just one that plays while an animation plays.
Would that be the same concept?
    Thank you.

  • Audio and video synch problems

Whether I am recording a video or in a live chat, the audio is off from the video. Customer Support said to just try some of the different compression options. I tried that, but nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hello and welcome to the forum,
Lot of users have a Blue Yeti, even the evangelists do use them. Where is the problem, because to me it is not clear if it is linked with the micro or with your work flow.
When I'm creating a video demo I will do a temporary narration during the capture process, so that the timing is about correct for the video. It helps if you have some sort of script ready at that time. Then I will do the proper voice over (mostly using Audition) and replace the temporary narration by the final one. Perhaps some more sync is needed, but often I have to edit the video demo because I want to insert static objects, split video, etc. Here is an example of such a video:

  • Audio and Video Synch Issues

Is there a way to fix the audio/video issue in playback? I know adobe pro warns you that it does that, but is it only during previewing or will it also do this when the file is published?

You are talking about directly embedding the video into the main timeline, correct?
For the most part, believe what Adobe says about not embedding video in the timeline or you may have audio sync problems..... which are actually video syncing problems. The auto will play exactly as it's supposed to, it's the video that gets out of sync.... NOT the audio.
The problem usually come up because you are attempting to match the audio up with the video... which is really the wrong way to go about it. Video can to speed up a little or slowwed down a little without really affecting the end result that much.
Not so with audio! Any speeding up or slowing down in an attempt to "match up" with the video, changes the frequence of the audio, distorting the sound. That only makes sense, right?
So if you have one minute of audio, you can't change that to 1:05 by slowing it down slightly, and you can't speed it up to play in :55 unless you want a little "chipmunk" effect. Either method changes the frequency and pitch of the sound.
Understanding that is key to using this particular embed method.
So if for some reason I just have to embed a video, here's a method that works pretty well for me. Set the Flash doc frame rate to exactly match the frame rate of the original video.
That means, for example, if the video was captured at 29.97 frames per sec., set the Flash doc to exactly match that....29.97fps. This will tend to keep the video and audio pretty well synced.
Here is a quick sample of an embedded video. The video bitrate is 400kbps.
    http://www.cidigitalmedia.com/tutorials/vid_sync/vid_sync.html
You can test and judge for yourself how well this method works.
Now there are some potential problems. If the video bitrate is too high, the video may not download fast enough... just like any other high bitrate video. Second, there are Flash timeline limits, so you can't really embed a 20 min. video into the timeline and expect it to work.... but then you shouldn't really be using the "embed in timeline" method anyway.
But it is possible to get pretty good results with short videos (with audio) embedded directly into the main timeline provided you set the Flash doc framerate to exactly match the original video and you use a reasonable video bitrate.
    Best wishes,

  • Audio and video not in synch after upgrade

I have 12.1.1.4. I'm using this new version for the first time tonight, to watch some Walking Dead episodes, and the audio and video drift out of synch. I can bring them back into synch by pausing then replaying, but it doesn't last. I watched some older videos that I know to be good and had the same issue, so it's not a problem with the episodes.
    What I've tried:
Making sure that the Quicktime audio settings match the ones on my sound card.
    Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes.

I also have this problem, and some videos will no longer play in iTunes.
I get a message that this video is not compatible with this version of iTunes. I have to open the video in Quicktime to watch it.
Unacceptable! This hardware and software is too expensive to have these performance issues.

  • Audio and video out of synch on export

    Hi,
I've searched the forum for this. I have a movie in FCE 4 in which the audio and video are in synch in the time line. The audio was recorded into Logic at 96, noodled, passed into FCE at 48 and then had to be lined up with the video. Then when I go to export, the resulting QT movie is out of synch, the audio now about one second before the video. I'm using QT conversion. My compresson is H.264, quality best, frame rate 30, multi-pass, 640 x 480, format AAC or linear PCM, various sample rates, stereo and mono etc. I've tried various other settings for export, but the problem remains.
What am I doing wrong? Many thanks for any help,
    Ray

    Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I think you're on the right track. I want the best sound possible, so I record into Logic, knowing I'm going into FCE I record at 96 so an even multiple down to 48. I think a .wav file though, and maybe that's the problem. Into FCE, but other audio there as well from the camera mic, and which I occasionally include in the sound track for ambience. All of this noodled a fair amount and then exported, the intent being to end up in 44, as it will be uploaded to youtube. I switch to 16 bit out of Logic, but the aiff vs wav may be the problem. Do think there might be a better way to do this?

  • Audio and video out of synch

Can anyone help. I have just purchased fce4 and already feel way out of my depth. When I captured my footage I get a warning saying that audio and video may be out of synch. Fair enough but there is no advice on how to fix this. Is it something to do with frame rates. My camera is DV Pal. How do I change the settings assuming this is the problem.

Go to Final Cut Express>Easy Setup. You're probably set up for DV-PAL. Change to DV-PAL 32kHz and see if that helps.
I'd encourage you to get a reference book. Tom Wolsky, frequent contributor to this forum, has an excellent one: Final Cut Express Editing Workshop. Diana Weynand has written another one: Apple Pro Training Series: Final Cut Express.

  • Video and audio out of synch after export

    Hello guys,
I have 5 minutes long video on timeline.
1 audio and 3 video layers.
All looks good, but once I export it as QuickTime self contained movie (current settings) to my desktop, video and audio is out of synch.
Any ideas what it might be wrong?
    Thank you for any advise.

    Hi
Did You Render All - first - before Export
Did You Mixdown Audio - Render Only - last line
    What material was used
    • Video Codec and fps
    • Audio file formats and bit-depth and frequency e.g. .aiff 48kHz 16-bit
    • What kind of Project Set-Up did You use e.g. Easy Set-Up - PAL-48kHz

I used Roxio VHS to DVD for Mac (have iMac with Snow Leopard) and the audio does not synch with the video when playing in iMovie.  Any suggestions to fix?

Thanks for the reply.  I tried playing with detaching the audio in iMovie, but with 20+ hours of video to correct, it would take too long.  After 28 hours, Corel/Roxio tech support replied that it is a known bitrate mismatch problem and they have no real fix.  I strongly suggest not to buy this product.

  • Audio and video are not synched

I'm just beginning with FXP X (8), and just added a file to my event library, and created a new project.  Dragged my first clip into the story line, and discovered that the audio and video are not syched.  This is original footage from a video camera, no modifications or added tracks.  But clearly the words of the speaker on camera are not synched with the video, both in the event library and in the story line clip.  Is this operator error (lol)?  TIA for any help, I'm stuck on square one.

You can right click on your clip in the storyline and Detach Audio.
After that, you can slide the audio until it's in sync or if it changes sync over the length of the clip, there is a way to correct that as well.
First, in the video, skim the playhead until you can see something that will "mark" a specific start of a sound and set a Marker (type M).  Then select the audio portion (already detached) and find the start of the matching sound and type M (adds marker to the audio.) Turn on snapping and slide the audio until the two markers snap.
If you need to correct sync drift, use the same technique for markers near the end of the clip, but instead of sliding the complete audio clip, Retime the audio clip (type command-R) (set the playhead over the video marker - snapping won't work when retiming) and adjust the end of the audio until the two markers match up. Preserve Pitch (from the Retime menu) should already be selected.

  • Why do my audio and video get out of synch?

No matter what sort of video I'm trying to play: Youtube, a movie on DVD, a movie on an external hard drive, etc, after a short time the audio and video get out of synch with each other.  This is often, though not always, signaled by a short audio phrase being repeated (eg: "I don't know, Scully, how about you? about you?").  I can solve the problem by quitting the app and starting it back up but it will eventually screw up again.
I'm using a MacBook running OS 10.6.8 with a 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memory.

The first thing that we need to know are the properties of what you are putting on the Timeline. What works in another software does not necessarily work in Premiere Elements. Each program has its own supported formats.
    a. What is the file extension for this file? .MOV or .MP4?
    b. Does the iPad describe it as 1080p or 720p?
    c. If you open Premiere Elements 12 and go to Edit Menu/Project Settings/General, what do you see for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size, and Pixel Aspect Ratio, even if those field appear to be grayed out.
Two immediate troubleshooting avenues are going to be in the direction of...
    a. Project settings not set up to match the properties of the source from the iPad. Then we would start a new project and set the project setting manually before importing your video. Details for manually setting the project preset are in the following.
ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE11: Accuracy of Automatic Project Preset (New Project Dialog) Setting
    b. The iPad video being recorded with a variable frame rate instead of a constant one...the remedy then would probably be to take your video in a program like HandBrake to change the variable to a constant frame rate. And after that, import the corrected video into the Premiere Elements project which has the correct project preset (preferably set manual to assure the correct result).
Please see what you can put together in the way of video details, and we will sort this out.
    Thanks.
