Audio and mic dont work.

Hello everyone,
few days ago I instaled the new windows 10 and after that, decided to update and instal new drivers from Hp support webpage. After I installed a couple of drivers and restarted my laptop, the audio wont work, neither the microphone. I downloaded the new "IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver", BIOS, Firmware, etc. Can you help me please?

The only options you have at this point is to roll back the system until there are updates from Microsoft so that all the bugs can be worked out. Any time an OS gets released there is a period of growing pains that we all go through. Until there are full drivers listed on the HP support page for your system and Windows 10, I would stick with what is shown under supported drivers and operating system.

Boot camp 5 is not support for audio and mice in windows 8.1

i upgrade to windows 8.1, but, no audio and mice is not working properly. i used boot camp 5. any one can help.

Windows 8.1 x64 RTM is running without any problems on MacBook Pro 13" i7 16GB Memory as I upgraded last week.
If you are using the Beta version of Windows 8.1 I suggest you wait until it is available to the General Public on October 17.
If you have the RTM (I am a Microsoft Partner) then just install and then run the Windows Support Software for Bootcamp 5 and the proper drivers will be installed.

I have heard from a supposedly reliable source (a radio shack salesman) that skype for windows 8 has problems using a wired headset (3.5mm jacks for audio and mic). I am using 64bit windows 8; a hp envy 700-074 (beats audio) computer with plenty of ram. Can someone comment on this. I hate to purchase a headset and not have it work and go thru the hassle of having to return it.

I really have no idea what problems he was referring to. Did he go into specifics? Some people hear more audio artifacts in Windows 8. As far as I can tell Radio shack people are salespeople first, technical second but maybe you got lucky.
A wired headset should work as good as your onboard if not in actuality better. So I don't know how it would sound worse unless you purchase some cheap detachable headset that sounds like you're talking into a paper/plastic cup. Many HPs use the IDT chipset which has never impressed me. The microphone/speaker selections can be very odd when compared to other chipset drivers. As long as you have the right selection and the latest audio drivers, you shouldn't run into any major issues. If you do run into audio issues, you can always get a 3.5mm to USB adapter for your headset or buy a USB headset to sidestep sound card related issues.

Hello, I have a 3 year old Macbook Pro and I am running OS 10.8.3. I am trying to get my USB headphone and mic to work with Skype but I'm not having any success. I have tried several different headphones with the same result. I finally phoned Skype support and they told me that there are some registry settings that are corrupted and that they could install the proper ones on my MBP for $149.99. I told them I did not want to spend that kind of money but I am curious if anybody else is having that issue and if anybody has a solution. Is it true that my registry values could be corrupted causing this issue. If I start up Parallels and open Skype in Windows 7 I have no issues whatsoever using the headphone. It works every time but I cannot get it to work on the Mac platform. I would appreciate any advice anybody might have. Many thanks in advance.

I know the trick with soundflower and quicktime, but I want something that will do the hard stuff for me.

Audio and Video Stops Working

Hello,
My audio and video stops working. It starts working again when I reboot. I'll leave the computer for a while, maybe overnight, and when I return the audio and the video on the iMac will not function. When I click Play on iTunes or You Tube nothing happens.
Any suggestions will be much appreciated!

It gave me some of the links I had been desperately looking for. I have an intel on board GPU and the GTX 675 MX. Because of MSI's bios, there's not a lot I can do in there to ensure that the computer is using the GTX over the Intel. I found some settings which give preferences for which card to use for which programs. PPro had the Nvidia already selected, but I went so far as to completely remove the Intel from all of the settings. Still no change. Today I went as far as to actually disable the intel GPU in the device settings. I rebooted and I wasn't getting anything in PPro. I switched her to software acceleration and it asked me if I wanted to delete the previews. I said yes and now she can see again. Of course I have NO clue yet if this is a permanent change or not. I do want the Hardware Acceleration, so leaving it in Software Mode is not a long term solution. It gets her working tonight, so on that note I'm happy.
Time will tell if this helps or hinders, but it's some sort of movement.

You said that you've tried numerous solutions. Would you mind giving a quick list of the sorts of solutions you have tried? This will be helpful as I wouldn't want to suggest solutions you've already attempted.
You may even want to take a look at this thread. I posted this a little while back but it covers the solutions for a webcam not being detected. You may find it helpful.
To begin I would like to see if either the webcam or sound card is listed in Device Manager. Try the following.
Click Start, type "Device Manager," and press Enter.
Expand the "Imaging Devices," "Sound, video, and game controllers," and "Other Devices" sections.
List what you see.

Audio Codec ALC883
If your using front panel hook up try this
Realtek HD Audio Manager > Audio I/O > Connection settings > Disable front panel jack detection
then try this if still no Mic
Control Panel > Sound and audio Devices > Voice > TEST Hardware

I like the Apple Earphones (the iPhone headphone with audio, mic and remote) but I hate to keep plugging it on and off my Macbook Air. So I heard the only way to fix that is to buy a USB headphone so you can switch it on and off through software. Problem is that I like my Apple Earphones and I want to keep using it but now through USB. Is there a USB adaptor that will work with the Earphone, in other words, that will make both headphone and mic work at the same time for a phone conversation?
