Audio and Video Codec books

Could some one suggest good books in audio/video encoding/decoding methods.
I can find googling so please suggest only if you read it or you heard it from the master that you know.
Thanks

Tuoppikake wrote:Hi Omel! I've used gstreamer plugins for all my videos. Look at this page:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GStreamer
I installed all of the good, bad and ugly packages and every video works and looks pretty good. There's also some codec for h.265 too if you are interested. With VLC you can add more filters and such for playback. The i7 can handle lots of heavy filters.
Thx for your advice I will look into it

  • Satellite A80: How to restore audio and video codecs?

How can I restore the audio and video codecs which are installed by default on my Satellite A80 with XP Home edition?
I removed them in safe mode because of a problem with the Pinnacle Codec installed by Pinnacle Studio 10.
Now I need to set the standard audio en video codecs back.
I already downloaded the codec package from Microsoft Mediaplayer and have sound en video again in Media Player.
Unfortunately I still don't have sound in Toshiba Diagnose Program when testing Midi and Wave sound.
System restore came up with the message that restore was not possible because no changes had been made.

Have investigated in the forum and found this different codecs:
    -Zsunami Filter Pack: (3.9.9)
    - Nimo Codec Pack: (5.0 Final)
    - ACE Mega CoDeC Pack: (5.93)
    - Codec Pack Elisoft: (13.505)
    - K-Lite Codec Pack: (2.2) Full
    - SLD Codec Pack: (1.5 Pro)
    - All in One: (5.0.6.1)
    - The Codecs: (1.1 full)
Well, if the system restore does't work try to install one or several codecs from this list.
Have found it in this posting:

I do this all the time, I put my MBP to a 60 inch Sharp. If you have the video working do the simple thing first. Check to make sure your sound is on your TV and Mac. Then if that doesn't work go to System Prefrences and under sound go to a tab called Output and see if your TV is listed and if it is change it to that setting

  • Audio and Video out of Sync after Pro Res export

I´m getting an audio/video sync issue when I´m exporting to Pro Res.
I started off in a HDV1080i50 sequence. Audio sampling rate is 48khz. (16 bit depth)
The sequence is less than 20 minutes long. It plays correctly on the timeline.
When I export the sequence for DVD and view it on a set top it plays absolutely fine.
When I export the video to ProRes (422 HQ - I used Export using Quicktime Conversion) and the audio to AIFF, they quickly go out of sync. This was brought to my attention first by the guys who were making the DigiBeta master, and when I view the exported material in a Pro Res sequence I can see it for myself.
The audio and video clips are of the exact same duration.
    Possible issues...
Some of the narration was recorded at 44.1 khz. I didn´t resample it (I´m still a learning novice..).. but if that is the issue should it not have affected the DVD as well? All the other audio in the project is 48khz.
Most of the material is HDV1080i50..but one clip used was originally an NTSC clip and therefore a different frame rate. However I converted it to a 25fps clip and this is reflected in the vid rate column in the browser where it says 25fps.
Final point, the exported AIFF files..when I import them back into the HDV1080i50 sequence and play back, it is perfectly in sync.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First, yes resample the narration to 48k 16 bit.  You will probably be able to reconnect to the resampled files.  Usually works for me.   That's a simple fix and will probably solve the problem.  If it doesn't, you can try to change the codec (compressor) in the sequence settings to prores 422HQ, fully render and see if that solves the problem.
Wait, just reread your original post.  Export from fcp using file:  export:  quicktime movie NOT quicktime conversion with current settings.  If that works without synch issues, use compressor to convert to prores.

  • Audio and video out of sync after import

I'm trying to bring some H.264 video into a Premiere project. But when I place it in a sequence (a sequence that is created based upon this very clip), the audio and video are about a second out of sync. (It's also odd: no amount of adjustment will bring them in sync. Seemingly the video is running at some variable rate that makes synchronization impossible...?)
As a test, I tried bringing my video into iMovie, and it works just fine there. But I don't want to use iMovie: I want to use Premiere.
    Any ideas?

    Thanks. Here's the output:

  • Audio and video out of synch

Can anyone help. I have just purchased fce4 and already feel way out of my depth. When I captured my footage I get a warning saying that audio and video may be out of synch. Fair enough but there is no advice on how to fix this. Is it something to do with frame rates. My camera is DV Pal. How do I change the settings assuming this is the problem.

Go to Final Cut Express>Easy Setup. You're probably set up for DV-PAL. Change to DV-PAL 32kHz and see if that helps.
I'd encourage you to get a reference book. Tom Wolsky, frequent contributor to this forum, has an excellent one: Final Cut Express Editing Workshop. Diana Weynand has written another one: Apple Pro Training Series: Final Cut Express.

  • Audio and Video out of sync in PPCS6.0.3

I imported a video clip into Adobe Premiere Pro CS 6.0.3.   I noticed that the video and audio are out of sync.   I played the video file through Windows Media Player and the audio/video are in sync.
However at 8min42sec, I noticed that the video becomes garbled but the audio track is fine.   The entire video clip is about 10min24sec.
I would like to trim the video file at the 8min42sec.   However everytime, I import it into Adobe Premiere, the audio and video are out of sync.   I wonder if Premiere is trying to stretch the video track to compensate.    Is there a way to import the video clip without having Adobe Premiere manipulating it.   Any suggestions are appreciated.  Thanks

  • Audio and Video out of sync during editing. PLEASE HELP

I am using a MacBook Pro. Specs are:
    - OS X version 10.9.2
    - 2.5GHz Intel Core i5 Processor
    - 4GB 1600MHz DDR3 RAM
When I import a video into AfterEffects CC, the audio and video are out of sync. The audio and video files are the right size, length etc. but are way out of sync. By the end of a 2 minute video, it can be out by up to 5-6 seconds. This applies to videos imported from any device. iPhone, USB and even videos I've recorded directly from my computer. Most files I try and import are MP4 files, but I've found the same issues with all other video files. I've even tried importing them separetely as an audio file and then as a video file. Nothing seems to work. I am also experienceing the same issue with Premiere CC.
Please help. I am needing these programs to work for assessment items.
    - Andrew

Without knowing the specs of your videos it is hard to say. I'm also running a Mac and am having no such issues.
My first thought is that you have something from a 3rd party installed that is causing conflicts. If all else fails try transcoding your mp4 files to a frame based codec using the Adobe Media Encoder. Pick one of the Apple production codecs or Jpeg compressed QuickTime.
Are you running a ram preview? Did you render your Premiere timeline? Are you new to AE?

  • Capture audio and video files to seperate files

    Forum,
Having suffered problems with OS 10.5 and Quicktime 7.4.1 I have done a clean install with 10. 4 .11.
When I select capture the following notice appears
"Audio only capture selected, video preview disabled"
In system settings "capture audio and video to seperate files " is NOT checked.
But that may not mean the same as the statement in in the capture window.
I have searched HELP and a book called" Optimizing your Final Cut Pro System" but can not find an answer.
    Advice would be appreciated.
    Thank you
    Michael Craven

    Hi,
    Check this:
in Log & Capture window select Clip Settings tab and make sure video box is checked.
    Cheers,
    G.

  • Audio and video not in sync. went back to previously finished projects and they too are not in sync. What could be the problem?

Audio and video not in sync. Went back to previously edited projects and they too are now not in sync. What could be the problem?

    Um ... some useful data?
OS/CPU/RAM/GPU/vRAM ... version of PrPro ... and other programs or plugi-ins/3rd-party apps involved ... footage type/codec/wrapper ... such things would be very useful.

  • Audio and Video Not Synchronizing in the Same Clip.

Ok, So I have had Adobe Premier Pro for a while now an I love it. I just have one not so insignificant problem with it. I was in the middle of making a video (with one particularly long clip in it) and I noticed something that began to happen in the beginning of the clip and went up until about thirty seconds. The audio and video gradually became further and further apart until they were about three seconds off. I was only using one clip so there should be no way I screwed up the placement of the files in the timeline. Viewing the clip in quicktime player does not give me that problem, so it's either a problem with Premiere Pro, or something else that I am unaware of. It has became so bad that I even downloaded iMovie so I could at least get this movie edited. I am pretty new to Premier Pro so any advice is much appreciated. Thanks!

Exactly what is INSIDE the video you are editing?

  • Home entertainment - Audio and video not in s

I call a Philips LCD 37PFL7403D/0 with [size="">HD Natural Motion technology my own. When I turn on HD Natural Motion feature, audio and video are not in sync anymore. The Philips FAQ recommands to set the audio sync delay to 200 milliseconds (200ms).
I use a Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio and I have not found any possibility to adjust the audio sync delay.

  • [SOLVED ]SX10 TC7.3 no audio and Video when calling

    Hi,
I have very wierd issue with one sx10(TC7.3.0) endpoint. When I make a call to another sx10 (TC7.1.4) then signalling works fine and call is connected but there is no audio and video. It is not working even when I call to some external different type video endpoint. I noticed that there is no receiving info about audio and video but transmit codecs and other info looks correct.
Hope someone can help me to troubleshoot the problem.
    More info about my solution:
I use CUCM with VCS-c and VCS-E. All endpoints are registered to CUCM. I have 16 SX10 endpoint with TC7.1.4 and one TC7,3,0. I think upgrading all endpoint to TC7.3.0 is not the solution because there are problems also with all other types enpoints.

Yes, Actually the problem was firewall rule!
The main problem was that these two endpoints didnt saw each other. ( Ping - Packet loss )
Signalling was working fine because both of them got ping CUCM but not each other :)
    So problem is solved.
    Thanks.

  • Audio and video is out of sync!

when I record audio and video together with my isight built in camera on my macbook pro with either quicktime pro, photobooth or imovie, when I play the clip back the audio and video is out of sync! like watching a kung foo movie. I've tried everything, I've taken my book into see a "Genius" at thew mac store and he said to me that the isight is made really for video conferencing and is really not supposed to be fully in sync? Uhh thats weird, so mac makes a product and puts it on all their laptops and it only sort of works?? I've been on the phone with apple care, did a bunch of things like disk utility repairs on permisions, then used the startup disk to do another permisions repair. I've uninstalled quicktime pro and re-installed it a couple of times? If anyone could give me some advice that would be great! I'm a little frustrated as you can probably see! thanks
    cheers

    Welcome to Apple Discussions, m
See if any of the suggestions offered here reduce your sync quality problem enough:
      http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7089133&#7089133
If, after making certain that your Mac is running well, has plenty of free space on the correct drive, etc., your sync is still not close enough, you can manually re-sync any parts that are unacceptable to you using either QT Pro or iMovie.
If you check carefully, you will see that not even pro video is always perfectly synced. It is a lot of work to get things "nearly perfect," but, with a bit of practice, it doesn't take long to get things "close enough" for me.
I use the same simple process with either QT Pro or iMovie, so you can use whichever you find easiest. Whichever you use, keep the original AV clip safe and *_work on a copy_* in case something goes wrong.
If you do not already know how, here is my process, but you can adjust for your workflow:
    (1) Copy of the audio track.
    (2) Add the audio track copy to the AV file.
    (3) Silence the original audio and work on audio copy.
    (4) Insert small blank audio clips (or split and slide if using iMovie) if needed to make the audio later.
    (5) Cut small bits out of quiet parts (or split and shorten in iMovie) if needed to make audio sooner.
    (6) Repeat until satisfied and delete any tracks no longer needed.
    (7) Save the adjusted AV file.
    (8) Enjoy!
