Audio and Video off sync in a few movies in my library

Hello everyone, I have about 1500 movies in my iTunes library and two ATV. One ATV is in my family room along with my Mac Pro and timecapsule, the other ATV is two floors up in my bedroom. Some movies that are played in my family room play off sync with the audio 5-10 seconds behind video.
I play the same movie in my bedroom and it plays fine. I use a 3rd party app to convert my DVD's to mp4. I don't have a problem with HD pic and 5.1 dolby just audio/video off sync. Does anyone have any answers or the same problem

I have looked a little bit more, and it seems as though the video is lagging behind, not the other way around. Video seems choppy, but the audio is playing perfectly. Music Videos are suffering from the same problem as well. Also, when I sync to my iPod Touch 16GB, audio & video match up perfectly.
I still have no idea how to fix this. Please help.

  • Photo Booth - audio and video not syncing

I was making some videos on Photo Booth and the audio doesn't start playing until 5 seconds after the video starts! Do you know if there is any way to fix this or is it a software issue? I have tried resetting the computer but it didn't help.
    Thanks for your help!

In Photo Booth, right-click on the video and either Export or Reveal in Finder. Either way, then open and play it with QuickTime. Is audio and video still out of sync?

  • Please help with audio and video not syncing.

I'm using Encore 3, and have already authored a DVD a month ago without a glitch. The following are the same steps I used, but this time around, the video and audio in Encore are not syncing.
    Here's what I've done.
    1) I export my Final Cut projects to .mov using the following settings (Share > Master File).
    Format: Video and Audio
    Video codec: H.264
    Resolution: 1920x1080
Audio file format: Quicktime Movie (AAC)
    Include chapter markers: Unchecked
    Roles as: Quicktime Movie
    2) I run the .mov file in Compressor using the "Disc Burning" preset.
    3) I then import the .ac3 and .m2v files that Compressor created into Encore.
    4) In Encore, I select both files and go to New > Timeline.
In the Timeline window, the durations on both are the same. But I don't understand why the audio and video are not synced when I preview or when I burn a test DVD. The audio comes in just a tad late.
    Video Clip:
    Source In: 00;00;00;00
    Duration: 00;02;33;29
    In-Point: 00;00;00;00
    Out-Point: 00;02;33;29
    Audio Clip:
    Source In: 00;00;00;00
    Duration: 00;02;34;00
    In-Point: 00;00;00;00
    Out-Point: 00;02;34;00
What's puzzling is that two of the 10 videos I've import to Encore are synced perfectly -- same export settings from FCP, same settings Compressor.
    Please help.
    Thanks!
    Mark

    Hi Mark.
Do you have any situations where there is more than one video file in a timeline?
Secondly - why are you using H264 HD files for a DVD? This is using lossy compression to make the H264, which is in turn then scaled & even further bitrate reduced for M2V.
I would give it a try rendering an SD video file for use in Encore - not the H264 - and starting out with Dolby Digital or LPCM audio, not AAC.
As with all DVD authoring programs, Encore works best with DVD compliant assets - which you are most definitely using - but I still think you are over-complicating things by using H264/AAC at all.
    Eliminating this may help.

  • Audio and Video option missing from Export Quicktime Movie Include

Today as I was exporting a clip, I noticed that the Audio and Video option was missing from the Include drop down. I only have the options of Left, Center, Right.
I highlight the sequence, control E (or File>Export>Quicktime Movie) and the Save window comes up. The Settings drop down is the same, the Markers: drop down is the same, but the Include: has the options of Left, Center and Right. I thought the Video and Audio dropdowns were always there. I hate to admit it, but I have not paid attention to them in a while. Getting old I guess.
Sequence settings is 720x480 NTSC DV (3:2)

    Did I miss something?
    Thanks

    Thanks, forgot about that.
For what ever reason it started working correctly a couple of hours later, after I started an SD project. The video came out fine
I had been trying out a couple new applications, so maybe one was causing it. I will see if it happens in the future.

  • Audio and video losing sync

    Hi,
I am currently having problems with the sync dropping as the media file goes on. It's close at the start, but after about 10 minutes the audio is visibly out of sync with the video. By the end, it can be up to a couple seconds off. I am using .avi files downloaded from the internet, and the media analysis says they're 23.97fps. I tried making my project settings 23.97 drop frame, 29.97 drop frame, 24 non-drop, 30 non-drop, and 60 non-drop, editing in both NTSC and "desktop" mode. They all experience the same issue. It is not the .avi itself that is out of sync, as when watched in Windows Media Player or another player the sync is fine.
Does anyone know a possible fix for this?
    Thanks,
    Nathan

    Nathan,
Once one knows the proper CODEC, it's a two-step process. First, one finds that CODEC on the Internet. Here, I will normally try to go to the source, even if it means buying that CODEC. I seldom reach for the "free" versions first. Next, one installs that CODEC on the system, and reboots. Then, the CODEC will be available. Note: as stated in the article, just having a CODEC properly installed on the system is no guarantee that one's NLE can work with it. In most cases, it can, but not all. Also, having a particular CODEC might ONLY work with something like Export, but not editing.
What CODEC was in those AVI files?
If something like Indeo, DivX, Xvid, then there will likely be incompatibilities in PrPro. If MJPEG, or many others, just installing the CODEC should work seamlessly in PrPro.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Audio and video not sync

Hi I'm having trouble with my records, i just shoot two videos for my vlogg and one was fine and the next one the audio is not sync with the video, didnt change any settings so dont understand wha happened. can some one help me fix this. thanks

Using the inbuilt camera on your MacBook Pro can result in audio not syncing with the video, due to the variable frame rate used by the camera.
See the first post by AppleMan1958 in the following topic for a full explanation and possible solution:

  • Audio and Video not sync (1ms difference) help.

    Hi Guys,
I used an external recorder to record the audio of a training session. Since the results of that audio is much clearer than the echoy audio from my video camera, I decided to use it.
But I find it hard to match the video and audio together, even using Pluraleyes. There's a slight mis-sync in the audio/video no matter how I tried to shift them in the timeline (+/- 00.00.01s). Is there any way to be more precise than what I did?
    Please help thanks!

  • Audio and Video not syncing

I paid for a movie and I can't watch it on either iTunes or QuickTime and, yes, I tried most of those helps in that FAQ post. I say most because this is the most advanced comp money could buy so I do NOT need hardware OR software updates, seeing how I did the latter before finally giving in to ***** at you. Yes I am mad. I'm highly annoyed. I paid money I could ill afford to spend on a movie I really was looking forward to watching ("A Dog's Breakfast" starring David Hewlett) only to find that it won't play!
Or rather, it plays, but the video skips and is out of sync with the audio. The help files in the "support" tap and the "Help" sections of both programs have been supremely unhelpful. Either refund me my money, or tell me how to fix this so I can watch this. Why people say Macs and Apple are better than Windows, I'll never know. At least with Windows you know you'll get screwed over.
I realize this flame-ish piece has no made me popular and will likely be ignored, but I've earned it, dammit. Multiple times iTunes even CRASHED MY LAPTOP when I tried to make it play the movie. Blue screen of death!! Considering this laptop is less than six months old, that is not something I was expecting to see!
So, please, either tell me how to get a refund or how to fix that damned program so it shows my movie.

    Some basic information is necessary.
Captured it from what to what with what for what with what sequence settings in what program and using what cam.
I think you understand that without some detail how can we guess at what the problem is.

Machine seems to be running fine otherwise.  Just happened to notice it when I tried to reord a short video of some guitar. Way out of sync. Horrid.
I made a new user account and the issue is continuing.
The only thing I haven't done is is completely wiped the drive and started fresh.  Such a pain in the a## to do this.  IDK. Definitely wasnt happening on snow leopard.

  • Audio and Video not synced P205-S6337

The audio on my P205-S6337 runs about 3-5 seconds behind the video.  I have checked on the Toshiba downloads and upgrade pages and found nothing that addresses this problem.  Any ideas from all you more computer savy folks out there?  Thanks in aadvance for any pointers.

    Um ... some useful data?
OS/CPU/RAM/GPU/vRAM ... version of PrPro ... and other programs or plugi-ins/3rd-party apps involved ... footage type/codec/wrapper ... such things would be very useful.

  • Audio and Video out of Sync in Encore 2.0

    Here's my issue:
I opened a project in Encore 2.0 that was an Encore 1.5 project. I have one timeline with a 2 hour movie and the AC3 audio file that goes with it. Encore 1.5 played the audio and video in sync from the timeline and burned discs with the audio in sync. The video is an MPEG2 file encoded at a 3.1 constant bit rate.
In Encore 2.0, when I play the timeline, the audio becomes progressively out of sync as it plays. Within the first few minutes it's maybe a frame or 2 off. By the end of the film it is about 18 seconds off (audio is playing ahead of the video).
Is this a result of Encore 2.0 conforming the audio file? If so, how am I (or anyone) supposed to attain sync between video and audio in Encore 2.0?
I have Encore 1.5 and 2.0 both installed on the same machine. As a test, I opened the project in 1.5 and played it, everything was fine. I closed Encore 1.5 and opened the project in Encore 2.0, and the audio is out of sync.
    Any comments, ideas or suggestions?
    Mike

    Joe,
I tried creating a project with the original WAV file and it's corresponding video and found that the audio and video were still out of sync. I did a little more testing and discovered that the audio is actually being played correctly, it's the video that is not being played correctly. Here's what I did:
I opened the WAV file version of the audio file in Premiere Pro and noted where a hammer hit in the video occurs (01;40;30;28). I then opened Encore 2.0 and imported the video and AC3 version of the WAV file, placed them in a timeline and the audio's hammer hit is right where it's supposed to be (01;40;30;28), but the video's hammer hit occurs at 01;40;43;18.
Next I went into Encore 1.5 and brought in the AC3 audio and video files and placed them on a timeline. I went to 01;40;30;28 in the timeline and the audio and video were both at the frame they should be at that timecode.
Seeing how the video appears to be playing incorrectly, here's some info on my video files:
I have 4 versions of the same film in varying encode rates with the same start and end timecodes. All four files were encoded on a Sonic DVD Creator authoring station using hardware to encode. The files are encoded at the following rates: 2.9 constant bit rate, 3.1 constant bit rate, 3.4 variable bit rate and 4.0 variable bit rate. They are each NTSC with drop frame timecode. All four files play correctly in Encore 1.5 but incorrectly in Encore 2.0.
This almost seems like a drop frame/non-drop frame issue. Do you have any ideas?

  • Audio and Video out of Sync after Pro Res export

I´m getting an audio/video sync issue when I´m exporting to Pro Res.
I started off in a HDV1080i50 sequence. Audio sampling rate is 48khz. (16 bit depth)
The sequence is less than 20 minutes long. It plays correctly on the timeline.
When I export the sequence for DVD and view it on a set top it plays absolutely fine.
When I export the video to ProRes (422 HQ - I used Export using Quicktime Conversion) and the audio to AIFF, they quickly go out of sync. This was brought to my attention first by the guys who were making the DigiBeta master, and when I view the exported material in a Pro Res sequence I can see it for myself.
The audio and video clips are of the exact same duration.
    Possible issues...
Some of the narration was recorded at 44.1 khz. I didn´t resample it (I´m still a learning novice..).. but if that is the issue should it not have affected the DVD as well? All the other audio in the project is 48khz.
Most of the material is HDV1080i50..but one clip used was originally an NTSC clip and therefore a different frame rate. However I converted it to a 25fps clip and this is reflected in the vid rate column in the browser where it says 25fps.
Final point, the exported AIFF files..when I import them back into the HDV1080i50 sequence and play back, it is perfectly in sync.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First, yes resample the narration to 48k 16 bit.  You will probably be able to reconnect to the resampled files.  Usually works for me.   That's a simple fix and will probably solve the problem.  If it doesn't, you can try to change the codec (compressor) in the sequence settings to prores 422HQ, fully render and see if that solves the problem.
Wait, just reread your original post.  Export from fcp using file:  export:  quicktime movie NOT quicktime conversion with current settings.  If that works without synch issues, use compressor to convert to prores.

  • Audio and Video Out of Sync  -AV sync problem

Edited a bunch of clips together from Canon T1i 720p, iPhone 3GS, Canon SX110, and Sony DSC-W70. About an hour long. Everything looks great when played within iMovie '11, but when exported, the audio and video get out of sync. It gets progressively worse the farther along you are in the sequence. AV is as much as 6 seconds off by the end!! Audio is ahead of the video. I've tried exporting in several different ways including: Export to iDVD, Export to Media Browser 720p, with the same results.
Anyone else having this problem? I know I've done this with success in the past with iMovie '09.

Im having the same issue I have a project that is 9 minutes long tried all before even looking at the forum but It will not sync. Some one even told me to repair the permissions so nothing worked. I went to the Mac store no body knew what I was talking about so they asked me to call Apple so I did and was hung up on 3 times not only that but I was advised since I just bought the product I did have 3 months of tech support.
I mean I'm having an issue and they tell me I have 90 days of free service? This has got to be a joke. I than asked well can I just take it back and instal my 09 back? I was advised nope you wont be able to do so and you cant get your money back.
After this whole mishap I did learned that the less snips and clips and editing is on the project the sync and video will be ok but if you have lots clips such as most of us than we will continue on having this issue.
    We need a fix ASAP

  • Audio and video not in sync

I used DVD Decrypter and Videora converter to get my DVDs onto my iPod, they work great except from the start of the movie but when I try to fastforward to any point in the movie, the audio and video go out of sync by about 20 seconds. Does anyone know how to remedy this problem? (I also have Quicktime but it doesn't convert my videos at all)

    Tried that. No good.
I have to turn the tv on and off.
This can be a couple of times a night.
    Very annoying.

  • 5G iPod Audio and Video not in Sync

I bought an iPod 30 GB a couple of days before. I was trying to download a movie to it which is in MP4 format. The original movie was in AVI format and I used Videora iPod converter to convert AVI -> MP4, but when I try to view the movie in my iPod the Audio and Video are not in Sync at al. The audio is way ahead of the video. Please someone let me know how to fix this problem. I turned off Equalizer and all other fancy settings in the iPod but it still didn't help.

some encoders have this problem occasionally. I've seen it very frequently in ffmpex when the source is avi. not sure what you're using, but so I'd suggest you try a different software. I'm getting very good results out of handbrake or 42.
