Audio B-wav issues

Can anyone shed any light on a very frustrating problem Im having with Protools B-wavs...
Workflow is...
Shot on one of the first Red Ones at 4k 24fps
Offlined Prores conversion (2k) 24fps
Media managed and clipfinder xml to link to color 24fps
graded and rendered out to Digital Cinema 2k Prores 4444
Audio omf from Offline to Protools
5.1 audio mix 24fps
export 5.1 stems and stereo ltrt to Bwavs
Import to Online project.
All the B-wavs show incorrect start time and durations in FCP
Quicktime player shows them to have correct duration
SoundtrackPro likewise.
If I create a 25fps project and Import them FCP shows the correct duration and if I then create a 24fps sequence in this project and paste the audio files in everything is correct.
Pix pasted on top – all in sync. Online done.
24fps picture exported
Audio files exported (for DCP Creation)
All audio has reverted to the original duration (wrong length drifting)
The quicktime output shows the audio is in sync but the audio tracks are all in the wrong order and some are not there at all.
OSX 10.6 (latest version)
FCP 7.03
Fibrechannel Raid with Apple Fibrechannel card.
Im assuming the original B- wavs are fine as they seem OK everywhere but in FCP
Any light greatly appreciated!

with RTMFP, video and audio can go out of sync if the data
rate of your stream exceeds your network capacity. video is
currently sent with 100% reliability, so once it's queued for
transmission, it's going to be sent (eventually). video is lower
priority than audio, though, so your audio data gets first dibs on
your network capacity. if the video stream's data rate is higher
than what fits in your network (after audio), the video data will
back up until its send buffer is filled, and new camera frames will
stop getting captured. in the steady state, this can look like a
multi-second offset between the video and audio.
try turning your video rate/quality down so that it fits in
your network capacity. video and audio should stay in sync.
with RTMP, there's one network transmission buffer (TCP's)
for all of the parts of your stream (audio & video). when you
have insufficient network bandwidth, the TCP buffer will eventually
fill up and video frames will stop being captured to compensate. so
while audio and video might remain in sync, the total end-to-end
latency will go up. when using RTMFP, the audio and video have
independent transmission buffers, so in cases of insufficient
network resources, the higher-priority audio should remain more
timely but video may fall behind.

  • X-Fi Xtreme Audio & 4GB RAM issue - latest driver?

    :X-Fi Xtreme Audio & >4GB RAM issue - latest driver?T Hi All,
Been using an X-Fi Xtreme Audio with 4GB RAM for ages, no issues.
I purchased and installed a zotac 9600 GT which has GB onboard ram, which works fine, but now my X-Fi has started causing general system instability. (processes using heaps of CPU time whilst apparently doing not much, jerky/slow adobe flash, distorted (slow-motion) audio at random times, etc etc.
In the support section here it says:
Audio issue from output from soundcard with computer having 4GB RAM:
    <span class="text">
Keywords: <font>4GB ram, installation, xfi, x-fi
Summary: Customers with computers having <font>4GB or above of RAM and are experiencing audio issues, please download the latest driver for your sound card.
However... When this issue first came up I formatted my primary dri've, reinstalled the OS and downloaded the latest drivers for EVERYTHING. The problem has prevailed..
It was only yesterday that I tracked down this problem in the support section here, and tried to verify that my driver is indeed the latest. But device manager lists the driver as "6.0.0.209" when in the support section here the downloads are named ".xx.xxxx" or something. How can I confirm that I have the latest driver? In any case, I'm almost certain that I have the latest, and this issue is still occuring.
I have read in other forums that on other varients of my X-FI card, the latest drivers have not solved this problem either.. sorry I cant be more accurate than that.
For now, I have solved this problem by simply removing 2GB of ram from my PC. Obviously, I'd like to find a solution and put the other 2GB back in!
Thanks in advance for your help!

Could DanielK please mod this as well, so we can try them. Or Daniel, you could you please tell me how you modified the previous drivers from auzentech as I dont know how these CL drivers work and are modified. What is the inf in these drivers, and if you could tell me the deviceID?s of all the x-fi models, or atleast for x-fi xtreme music as it is my modell. Thx in advance!
    EDIT:
I have modified the drivers, was not so hard after all. Im uploading the file now, which should have support for all X-FI cards thanks to Daniel's great job with the earlier version.
Upload finished in 4-5minutes. I will post with link soon to rapidshare!

  • MiniDV audio sample rate issue

I cannot get the audio sample rate to match. I have captured miniDV footage (32mhz/12bit). In Sequence settings the audio options for bit are 8, 16, 24. My audio is out of sync!!!! What can I do? I have 2 hours of raw footage and can't proceed! Any help is VERY appreciated. thanks in advance!

    Hi again!
Hum ... that´s not as simple as it could be!
That way i´ll have to capture twice?!
There must be another way of doing it , i don´t think Avid can do it and FCP don´t .
As i told you i use both systems and i know they´re limitions (or i think i know!), but it´s strange because Avid Xpress DV 3.5 (from the age of stone ) do it in a blink ... ok ... found an FCP limitation!
    Thank you!
If there´s another way ... please feel free to post it!

  • Audio Video synchronization issues

    Hi,
I have a video application that I am building - and
previously I used FMS and TCP connections for video. Now expecting
the latency to be much lesser with UDP, I implemented UDP in my
application and stratus as the RTMFP capable server. I used the
sample video phone application's tutorial do a simple sendStream
    and receiveStream for video.
However, unlike the hosted sample application itself, my
audio and video are completely out of synchronization - about 4
secs!! I tried to look at the sample code to see if there were any
special settings that were made. I could not find any.
    My questions:
    1. Did Adobe make any special tweaks in their hosted sample
application? If so, what are they?
    2. Are there any known synchronization issues with using
    RTMFP connections for video?
    3. Does anyone else also face audio video synchronization
    issues?
    4. If none of the above is true, what do you think my
mistakes are? Please let me know if I need to add more information
    to answer this question.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Super slow audio RAM preview issues in AE CS5

    Hi all,
I've been having a tough time previewing audio while working in AfterEffects. I'm using Version 10.0.2.4, running on a 2x2.66 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon Mac Pro with 64 gigs of memory.
I've opened up projects that have never given me any issues in the past and I seem to be experiencing the same issue, over and over again:
When I try to preview a comp with audio (either hitting "0" on the keypad, or "." on the keypad), I get the "spinning beach ball" for at least 20-30 seconds before the audio kicks in. When I disable audio in my preview window, I have no delay with the RAM preview.
This happens with .aiffs and .wav files.
I've done the usual tricks -- restarting my machine, double checking to make sure there's not an issue with my speaker setup, repairing permissions, checking for updates.
Has anyone else experienced these issues, and is there a workaround? I have a job coming up that requires me to quickly preview audio and waiting 30 seconds every time I need to check my progress with a RAM preview is going to be soul-crushing.
I'll happily answer any questions -- I'm sure there's a bunch of info I've left out, and fingers crossed it's just some setting that I've ignored that's causing this issue.
    Thanks,
    Dan

Sorry for all the questions, but...
What path/hardware does your audio take to be output?  Analog from the Mac?  Via a third party card like an AJA or Blackmagic device?  USB speakers?
Have you specified the audio device in the AE audio hardware preferences?  Have you tried outputting to a different device, or removing the device and just using the standard system audio?

  • Downloading audio files (.wav)

    Hi All,
I have posted this question under safari and iMovie(HD) and I know this is a pro vid discussion board but I think this deals less with iMovie than a generic audio download issue for use in a video application (although instructions on how to use in imovieHD would also be appreciated)...
I am running 10.4.10 with iMovie HD. I am trying to put together my first movie and I want to use some popular soundbites from t.v. and movies. I have found a couple of great sites that have what I want in a .wav format. I cannot seem to download these as all I seem to end up with are files which link directly to the website. I feel that there must be a way to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    J

Since the rights are forfeited by the person uploading the video, YouTube is public domain and is downloadable at will. Naturally, some of the content may be copyrighted material that the user has warranted as his/her own so the end responsibility is the downloader's and he/she may be liable if publishing the content. A note: even copyrighted material may be used by a non-profit without prejudice - but, think before you use... if it is used on a site where advertising has been sold to benefit the non-profit (or even a list of donating companies exists on the site), the content could be thought of as benefitting a for-profit agency and therefore would become an illegal use of the material.
There are several sources for public domain soundbites online and some of them filter the content, but most rely on users' honesty.
As stated in a previous reply, if you are unsure, contact the producing entity to either purchase rights or recieve permission to use.
For legal downloading of public domain .wav files it is a simple enough proposition to purchase a widely available appropriate program.

  • Interesting Audio Visual sync issue

    Greetings,
I'm posting this to a few forums, hoping to get some feedback
regarding a strange, consistent, and somewhat unnerving issue
regarding drift between sync/streamed audio files and animation
    sequences on the timeline.
A colleague of mine is doing an animation project over ten
minutes in length in Flash. He was reading frame numbers to create
a track breakdown for exposure sheets (old school) and noticed that
the sound was slowly drifting out of sync after a period of time.
He sent me an email to ask whether I have noticed the same problem.
We have both worked on projects using Flash as a tool for video
    work.
I had not noticed the problem, never starting a project from
that direction, so I decided to do some tests. I created a 5 minute
(300 sec.) audio sequence of 1 KHz blips at every second. I
imported this file into Flash and set in on the timeline in stream
mode. I then made a little dot and made a one second sequence at 24
fps and copied that sequence up to 300 seconds. After 5 minutes
length over the time, the audio blip drifted away from the dot by
ten frames, or .4 seconds. The audio file also ends short of the
    animation sequence.
I have checked this issue out adjusting different properties
    of the audio:
    a. Sample rate ( 44.1, 22, 11)
    b. Bit rate (16, 8)
    c. File format ( .aif, .wav, mp3)
I have also tested using different frame rates (15, 24, 30),
yet the drift appears to be constant.
I have an example of one of these tests up on my website
    here
    (http://www.csiga.com/flash/avSyncTest.zip). It's the 11k8b audio
    at 24fps version. It's a tiny archive (38k), but decompresses to 6
    Mb.
I would be very curious if anyone could share some thoughts
about this issue. It would be useful to find some way around this
problem. There are many Flash based productions that migrate to
video in New York where I'm based. I'm sure that the community
    could benefit from any insight.
    Thanks.
    Jonathan Levy

The issue stems from the fact that Flash was never intended
to be used for such long timelines. As
far as it has come over the year - it is still a web tool.
Years ago I was in a production environment where we were
doing 22 minute shows for Cartoon Network
    - we used Flash - we never exceeded more than 1-2 minutes per
Flash doc and often as short as 15-20
    seconds.
We would use scratch audio which would get deleted before
exporting to quicktime - then we would
sticj each section together in the Avid (or Final Cut Pro,
    Premiere, etc...)
So I recommend trying not to do a full 10 min (or 5 min)
timeline in flash - it will lead to other
problems like the FLA getting so big and ultimately crashing
    (potentially).
    Hope this helps.

  • Audio Line In Issue

Has someone actually tried using the line in from an external device....
I am trying to use my ZEN to play some music...but cannot get the output..
    Save me from this fustration.....

    Joan,
What were your steps in ripping the Audio from the CD? I strongly recommend that one rip the CDA files to PCM/WAV 48KHz 16-bit. Now, the Audio is in 44.1KHz on the CD, so you would do the conversion to 48KHz in, say Audition. Do not compress this CD Audio to anything, like MP3. I like doing the ripping in Audition, and then just Save_As, setting the sample rate to 48KHz for DV Audio.
Using compressed formats, like MP3, can introduce all sorts of OOS (Out Of Sync) issues.
You are correct that correcting dynamic OOS is tedious work. Yes, it can be done, but one does not want to do that, unless there is absolutely no other way around it. Though you are probably way ahead of the tips in this ARTICLE, I'll link to it anyway, just in case. Who knows, there might be just one little tip that's worthwhile.
    Good luck,

  • Audio Fade Noise Issue

I am using the latest update of Premiere Pro 7.2.0 (46) on Mac OS X 10.8.5.
I am mixing some music wav files (48Hz, stereo, 16-bit) and have some audio transitions on them (Constant Power). Whenever I play over those transitions I get some kind of buzzing noise. It doesn't sound like an analog sounding buzz, not sure how to describe it really. It happens only over the course of the transition.
Keyframing the volume does not cause the same issue. The noise is not present when the file is exported, only when playing back on the timeline. For the most part it does happen, but sometimes it doesn't. This has never happened before, it seems to be isolated to these .wav files but they seem no different than any other .wav file I've worked with. Restarting the program and computer does not solve the issue.

  • Audio de-synching issue

    Hi.
I have a liitle bit of a mysterious issue I cannot solve. I have two source files:
    1. Video: MJPEG, AVI
    2. Audio: Wav file
If I iport those and put on the time line in premiere pro, then preview they play in perfect sync. But, if I export as media, the output file is de-synchronised. On close inspection, video seems to sort of speed up at the very beginning and then normalizes few seconds into the film, but audio plays fine from the start. And that results in a very de-synchronized film.
I would appreciate any help on the matter.

    Wow, all these answers...

  • Audio track panning issue

I seem to be having an issue with certain projects that when adding vocals the there is only sound to the right speaker.
I tried reconnecting my Mic Set up incase it was that.  This has happened before and it seems to occur when I used the ES2,
its like the more production I do on a song the more likely this is to happen.
Its clear from the Audio clip (below) that the wave forms are all only evident on the upper part, below is blank.
Il attach a screen shot so maybe you can tell from that where Im going wrong.
Thanks guys, any help is really appreciated!!

Hey,  Ive tried testing the levels and your right it is only showing activity on one side.  Im really poor at the technical side of things and particularly inputs, stereo etc so Im really lost. I just presumed I should always select stereo when creating an audio track for vocals, clearly thats not always right?? I mean as far as Im aware I always select Stereo on audio tracks for vocals but dont always have this issue.
So Ive created an audio track now, as mono and that seems to be working fine. Sorry about my ignorance on this, I appreciate your help. I guess those vocal takes will have to be re-done as they cannot be fixed, its only a new project so I dont mind. What you've thought me here is really helpful mate

  • Audio / MP3 / WAV

Love captivate-user, I have a problem with the audio. If I of binding an audio file in MP3 format to an object on a slide captivate turns this MP3 file to a WAV file. This file is of course larger. In the library, both files will be displayed. However, it is shown that the MP3 file is not included and can be deleted. Does anyone have an idea how I can embed the smaller MP3 file in the object? Thanks for your help. Ibo

Captivate's default process is to try and maintain the audio file internally in a high quality format to prevent it from degrading.  When Captivate publishes out it will do so as an MP3 using whatever export quality settings you have configured.  But if you were to start with a low quality compressed MP3 and then publish that you would often find the output quality to be sub optimal. Converting the imported MP3 into a WAV is Captivate's way of attempting to avoid this issue.  It's not going to bloat your output file by publishing two different audio files, so my advice is just to run with it.  Bring your audio files in as WAV to begin with if you want.

  • Audio Plugins - Waves Diamond Bundle - w/FCP?

I have just installed the WAVES Diamond Bundle in hopes of using it to clean up Audio in FCP. After install, I do NOT see them anywhere in FCP.
    -Should FCP recognize Waves plugins?
    -Should SoundTrack Pro?

    Lamont,
Sorry for the delay...I've been out of the country the last week.
My recollection is that the Waves Shell should match the plug version. For instance, v4 should be WavesShell_4...v5 plugs should be WavesShell_5. I don't have the latest...but I assume it is the same. There is also a variant to it related to the bundling. For instance, the Vocal Bundle requires the VocalWaveShellx.
All of these should coordinate, and can cause some problems if not. If you own version X...I believe you should be able to download the cooresponding package that will contain the Authorizers. From the cooresponding authorizer (Waves Authorizer 5 or Waves Vocal Authroizer, etc.) you should be able to install...this was regardless of your WUP status. WUP status used to relate to calling in for Tech Support or getting a discount when upgrading.
With all of that said...I do know they have changed their WUP policies in the last year. It would be very discouraging to me if they discontinue former product downloads based on that! Sorry I don't have more information. I'll look around.
I don't believe the 5.0.1 will break your iLok for v4 plugs... But to my knowledge, the version 5 waveshell only supports v5 plugs and will therefore not be of any use to you.
My recommendation would be to get the latest download package from the waves site (if possible) that corresponds to the package you own. This should not require additional iLok authorizing...but will update any plugs and the shell to their latest versions.
If you own v5 and v4... check your iLok to see if you have the v5 license either downloaded or installed, download the v5 Diamond package from waves. Archive all your current stuff...and then delete the relating v4 shells and plugs. Reinstall the v5 waveshell. You should be done.
If you don't see it in your iLok...I would contact waves support (thier support telephone number is listed on thier website). Tell them you have a licensing issues, I believe licensing issues are excluded from support aggreement. Once they help you get the license to your iLok...then follow the above steps.
Sorry for the rambling...hope that helps.
