Audio bitrate on TS

Hi all,
Did a search and did not find an answer, so, hoping someone here has one.
I want to know if there is a way to adjust the audio bit rate when making a transport stream. I can't seem to find it. I need a TS with a maximum of 3.75Mbs for VOD. The audio bit rate seems to be locked to about 680+ Kbs, which leaves only a setting of 3.0Mbs for video. I would like to make the audio about 384Kbs and increase the video a bit. Can this be done with Compressor 2?
Thanks.
Matt

  • Adjust audio BitRate for a Quicktime .MOV export

I am trying to export a >MOV file. Settings are Quicktime > H.264 codec. Everything looks and sounds fine, but I am uploading to a TV station and they are saying that the audio BitRate is too low. I can't seem to find anywhere to adjust the audio bitrate in the export settings. There is no option. Unlike when exporting a .Mpeg2 or other formats where it is an option. Any ideas?

Strange. I do not have the option. Are you using CC?

  • What is the maximum audio bitrate supported buy AppleTV?

I have a .mkv file generated from a Blu-Ray disk. The MKV is AVC, codec V_MPEG4, 18.7 Mbps, 1920 x 1080 at 23.976 fps. Audio is DTS, codec A_DTS, 6 channels, 48 KHz, 24 bit, 1510 kbps. I'm looking to create an AppleTV video with the highest audio quality possible.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP598?viewlocale=en_US
    states:
H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
The standard Apple TV preset is H.264 1280 x 720 at 5 mbps, Audio mpeg4 44.1 kHz, 2 channel 128 kbps. If I modify this to MPEG4, 48 kHz, 256 kbps, include Dolby 5.1 audio, compressor gives an error:
Failed 3x error: NewMovieFromFile failed -2048
I want to create an HD video file that will play on the AppleTV with the maximum audio quality possible. Is there a way to do this?

I think Studio X got it, but I'd like to add, isn't your audio bitrate = 48kHz x 24 bit depth x 6 channels = 6912 kbps and not 1510 kbps? I'm kind of a noob at this so I'm wondering if I've been calculating all this wrong all the while.

  • How  reduce audio bitrate

    Hi,
I have to develop a component capable of reduce an audio file bitrate. It should receive a DataSource in Input and generate another DataSource (bitrate reduced) in Output.
I think to use a Processor i order to do such a work, but I don't know how.
Someone can help me with hints or suggesting any links?
    Thank you all in advance,

I started developing my component using a Processor to call getControl() method of Control Interface in order to obtain the control I need (BitRateControl).
    More precisely:
BitRateControl bitControl = (BitRateControl) processor.getControl("javax.media.control.BitRateControl"); I pass in Input an mp3 file to the processor using a DataSource object, but when I invoke bitControl.getBitRate() method, the result is 0.
    Someone can tell me why?
    Thank you all again.

  • Encore Transcodes MPEG-2 Audio & Bitrate Error During Build

Encore transcodes the audio but the audio is already MPEG-2. The video and audio assets have following properties:
    .mpv = 8.0 Mbit/s maximum (VBR 6-8 MB)
    .mpa = 0.2 Mbit/s fixed
And during transcoding the error "Bitrate to High" stops the build process. Is there somewhere a limiter in action, or what is it?

    Sir Wilkes...
Okay, I set the Bitrate to 9.4 Mbit/s, let's see if it works thru...
    mpa:
The audio should be "MainConcept MPEG-Audio MPEG-1 Layer II-Audio" in stereo, however I have no program affirm that. The import works, I was just surprised that the audio gets transcoded, possibly to Dolby Digital. This company always delivers mpa's since they work with Avid. I have the video transcoded right there since the Avid 1x1 uncompressed quicktime codec does not work with any Adobe products, well, normally we do the Avid stuff on Mac but my boys are filming in London and Greenland so le chef has to do this one by himself.
    This DVD is PAL.

  • Audio bitrate for 2 channels

I have got 2 tracks of audio in my dvd-project (german + english) every channel is wav pcm stereo.
for calculation of the final bit-rate do i have to add up 1,5 kbps per audio-track plus the 6 kbps of my video-stream.
with that (video 6 kbps + audio german 1,5 kbps + audio english 1,5 kbps) im still in range of maximum overall-bitrate of the dvd specifications of 10,08 kbps
is that bitrate a problem for older dvd-standalone-players and computers?
    thanks for your answers!

    Welcome to the forums mouse
Generally speaking: the bit-rate for the audio is hardly an issue if encoded in the favored AC3 format whereas the bit-rate for the video is a concern since it can easily exceed the limits of the DVD bit-rate specification.
I think the audio should be encoded to something around 128 kb/s if I remember correctly, depending on how many channels you have for the audio track.
also I wanted to mention you actually have two tracks of audio w/ an unknown number of channels (because they were not mentioned) meaning you can have one track of 5.1 channel audio in English and the other track with 2.0 channels of audio
Just wanted you to understand and/or clarify the difference between tracks and channels there real quick for ya that's all.

One suggestion to try is to post this question on the handbrake forum. I think that they will be able help regarding your audio.

  • BluRay error message "code 6, audio buffer underflows. Total bitrate is too high near time = 000000 seconds."

    Hello,
I’m trying to create BluRays using Encore and I keep getting the following error messages: ‘code 6, audio buffer underflows. Total bitrate is too high near time = 000000 seconds.”
For info, I created a H264 Bluray - NTSC 24fps master from an Apple prores HQ in Adobe Media Encoder. Duration: 52m, size: 11go. I'm on Mac OSX 10.9.5, the bluray burner is Samsung SE-506CB/RSWD and the BR disks are TDK Blu-ray Disc 50 Spindle - 25GB 4X BD-R - Printable.
I looked around in forums and tried the following without success: replacing disk name to shorter name without space, creating bluray without menu frame, I also tried with a Mpeg2 bluray master. I tried to export a new master but I can't seem to be able to change the audio bitrate.
    Can anyone please help ?
    Thanks.

Hi Stan, thanks for getting back.
I tried to create a new master from Media Encoder but I can only export audio in PCM, I don't get a dolby option. See pic below.
I tried a new project in Encore and chose PCM instead of Dolby in the preference menu, but I still got the same error. Should I try again limiting bitrate to 15 ? I was on 30 before.
Please help, I've already wasted 10 bluray and this is getting really frustrating!

  • Bitrate too high after calculating video and audio

    Hi,
I have exported a sequence from premiere using a setting of CBR 8.5 with PCM audio.
Using the bitrate viewer I have found out that the bitrate required towards the end of the video peaks at 9348 with an average for the entire sequence being 8297.
Now, I read that the maximum bitrate allowed for DVD is 9.800 so I go ahead and reduce the audio bitrate using an AC3 compression method - reducing the PCM audio to a bitrate of 224.
I am assuming at this point that the audio will be no more than 224 bitrate which by my calculation will be within the DVD specification.
Encore is still reporting that my timeline bitrate is too high.
Any ideas? Does anyone know of a bitrate viewer for audio so I can rule out the bitrate peak for that?
    Cheers,
    MJ

Just checked the project. It is at a place where I am running a slide show and specifically the Slash Slide transition that caused the largest spike. There are several of these spikes when I'm using this type of transition so there you have it. The transitions are causing the surge in bitrate. Quite annoying really, they last all but a second but cause me to spend another 5 hours re-encoding!
Edit: Thinking about it... if I now set my CBR bitrate to 8 and re-encode will I see the same high spikes? Meaning, will they be as high as my last attempt at 8.5? Seeing that CBR does not actually stay at a constant bitrate this has now got me a little concerned I will have to remove some effects to get decent quality.

  • Audio in Premiere Pro CS3 appears on one PC, not the other

    Hi everyone,
I'm the Network Administrator for a high school and we have a digital media lab here using Adobe Creative Suite 3: Master Collection.  All systems here are running Windows XP Professional and are on a Windows domain.  All users are standard users, with no administrative rights for obvious security reasons.  When I originally did the deployment of the lab by running sysprep on a reference computer and using ghost to deploy the rest of the computers, I noticed a problem with Premiere Pro CS3 after the deployment.  In that lab, none of the computers would capture video via firewire and the built in capture function in Adobe Premiere CS3.  I believe I have a post about this on these forums that was never resolved.  To get around this, I'd capture the footage for students in my office and then transfer it over to their network drives so they could import it into Premiere Pro CS3 and edit the footage.
Recently, the school purchased some HD cameras that record to a built in hard drive or an SDHC card.  The idea here was that the .MTS files could be copied from the camera to the computer running Premiere Pro CS3, the media files in .MTS format [at 1280x720] could be converted using KoyoteSoft's Free HD Converter using the settings MPEG2 [a preset], MPG2 as the format, 1280x720 // 16/9, 29.97 FPS, 9000 video bitrate, and 224 audio bitrate, and then the new media files could be imported into Premiere Pro CS3 and edited using the HDV 720p30 preset within Premiere Pro CS3.
This works great...on my office computer.
The problem is that if any student tries to import their footage on a computer in the digital media lab, the converted media files, the exact same ones that just imported into my Premiere Pro CS3 installation on a computer in my office with identical hardware as the computers in the digital media lab, fail to import the audio.  I can see the video with no problems in the lab, but no audio layer appears.  If I right click the video file and choose Open With> VLC or another media player, the media plays fine with audio.  All audio/video codecs that are installed on my machine are also installed on the digital media machines.  If I right click Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 from within a student account on those computers and choose Run As and use the local administrator account, Premiere Pro CS3 does the exact same thing, it still can't see the audio.  Adobe CS3 is fully up to date on both my office computer and all digital media computers.
Any help fixing this would be greatly appreciated, spring break is coming up here this coming week and I'll be here all week.  Hoping to get this resolved during that time so students can edit their own movies.  Again, video imports, audio doesn't.  No audio layer appears.
    Thanks!

See if this helps... To work with AC3 sound files in Premiere CS3, copy the ad2ac3dec.dll file from the Encore CS3 directory into the Premiere directory

  • FCP 7.0.3 Easy Setup audio setting issues

I have created two custom Easy Setups.
    SD:     DVCPro50 PAL with audio set @ 48.000 kHz, 16-bit, 16 chan
    HD:     DVCProHD 1080i 25fps with audio set @ 48.000kHz, 24-bit, 16 chan
I open FCP, load the SD easy setup.  I then click on Audio/Video settings.
Select "Audio/Video Settings" and view "Capture Presets Summary"
         - Audio format is listed as 48.000 kHz 16-bit 16-chan
Select"Edit" and "Capture Preset Editor" comes up.
         - UnderQuicktime Audio Settings:
              - Device:  AJA Kona 3
              - Format:  48.000 kHz 16-bit 16-chan
If I then select the HD Easy Setup, and then "Audio/Video Settings"
Select"Edit" and "Capture Preset Editor" comes up.
         - UnderQuicktime Audio Settings:
              - Device:  AJA Kona 3
              - Format:  48.000 kHz 16-bit 16-chan (THIS SHOULD BE 24-bit)
    Select the "A\V Device" tab:
The audio device has defaulted to the 16 bit setting as well.
It appears that FCP or AJA is keeping the audio bitrate from the previous Easy Setup.
Even if we close FCP completely, and reopen into a new project, load the HD Easy Setup, the bit rate still shows as 16.
I have tried deleting the following:
    apple.finalcutpro.plist
    Final Cut User Data Folder

The camera definitely recorded in SP, that icon was visible on the viewfinder...
What settings should i be using in FCP to capture the video? From attempted research i found most comments suggesting to use a basic Firewire settings. i have used this in PAL format but the results are poor.
One thing I am confused about is the 32khz or 48khz settings. Which should i be using? I have an older version of FCE 4 where there are many settings for both 32khz and 48khz for DV FireWire but in FCP7 there are only options for 48khz.
Any advice would be welcomed at the moment.
I am also willing to upload clips of what I have to demonstrate visually the poor quality video I am capturing from the Canon

  • Premiere Pro CS3 won't import audio on an avi file

I just recently borrowed a friend's HD camera to film some scenes for a video. I had to import them onto my computer using a converter because my computer is a windows vista (  >:(  )  and the files on the camera are MTS files (they aren't compatible with CS3 anyway).
The first time I converted these files to avi files Premiere read them perfectly fine and also allowed me to use the audio that was with them. I soon decided though that the audio and video quality that I had converted them into was rather crappy so I converted the files again to much high quality (video bitrate 10000 kbps and audio bitrate 448 kbps).
By this time, I decided the video quality was what I wanted so I deleted the files off my friend's camera and returned the camera to him. (Note: the files played perfectly fine in windows media player and several other video editing software that I possess)
I opened Premiere after taking the camera back and discovered (to my disappointment and frustration) that whenever I tried to import the new files, Premiere would only import the video and not the audio. I would place the file on the video track and the audio wouldn't import onto the audio track.
Could this be a problem with the project preferences I chose? Or is it something else? Is there any hope of getting it to work?
One option I've considered doing is converting all the audio on the files to a different format or converting the video files to another format but my harddrive is running out of space as it is and I could lose quality by doing that.

(Not to mention the time it would take to reconvert the files. I've already spent several hours converting it from the camera. At the moment I also do not possess a solid avi converting program that I could trust.)
