Audio book CD importing issues

Importing Audio books from CD..I'm very confused.. I have imported a BUNCH of audio books to my itunes library. I thought I had all of them saved in the audio books section, with each one labeled by author, book name, disc 1 of_, read by, and anything else I thought would help.
Could someone please tell me how to "Combined" them into one grouping for each book or if it's even possible in plain layman's terms..I want to be able to click on the "Book" and all the disc be together and tracks in order. So when I put it on my iphone and get ready to listen I'm not battling the shuffle, skip, forward constantly, or even worse loosing tracks.
You would think as advanced as itunes is there would be a way to combine them and make them all play together and in order just like an mp3 audio, but if so I have yet to figure it out. I'm not very advanced working with itunes, but I had thought this would be easier and a better way to save and listen to all my audio books, and be able to share with the family. Instead I now have a TON of audios in random order and not linked together. Am I going to have to delete the 30+ books from itunes and start over, some of these books have up to 26 cds with them..someone please tell me there is a simple, basic easy to understand way to do this for a NONtechnical person. Thanks in advance for help in this matter.

Downloaded 10.5 iTunes and when I put in an audio book to import into iTunes as soon as I begin typing book info notice appears that iTunes has stopped working and windows 7 closes iTunes. Can you demonstrate your problem with something smaller? Learn out how to do a combo box with just a page or two and then appy that to your big problem. That's how I'd do it. - MOD

Can you please help with importing CDs and audio books?

I tried to search for this topic, but had no luck.
Have been happy with IPOD until today. On trying to import a new audio book to iTunes and then updating IPOD to install on it, I can see the title in both the iTunes Library and menu of IPOD. However, instead of seeing a normal 57:32 (or similar stop time), I am seeing 789:57:13.152. When I try to play it through iTunes or IPOD, it skips it as if it wasn't there and plays something else. I checked out importing a music CD, and find the same problem.
Appreciate any advice you can give.

let's first see if you can get the CDs to import normally if you switch off "error correction" in the iTunes Advanced-Importing preferences subtab.

Changes to audio book import / general iPod accessibility

I find it really frustrating that I had to pay for 3rd party software to be able to easily put CDs of audio books into the Audio Books folder of iTunes and my iPod. Why doesn't Apple address this issue in their next iTunes update?

PS. Are there any products that would make an iPod more accessible to visually impaired people, perhaps by speaking the names of albums etc as you scroll down?

Import audio book to itunes but it won't sync to my ipod

I am at a complete loss. I have been importing audio books from the public library to itunes and then putting them on my ipod for months. All of a sudden the books won't sync to my ipod. Songs work ok, but my audio books don't. The little sync icon spins and the itunes screen says it is updating but it only lasts for a few seconds and the book is not on my ipod. I have done everything I can think of including restoring my ipod back to the original settings which lost everything. I don't know what else to do.

Import directly to Audio books folder

is there a way to import directly to an assigned folder.( audio books) For example I imported a cd book all the tracks were imported as tracks and could I not sort them out. Is there a purpose for the audio books folder.

Did you copy your actual iTunes content from your computer before reinstalling iTunes, or did you just copy your iTunes library which only contains the pointers to your songs / books locations ?
You might, depending upon your country and if they are still in your country's store, be able to redownload your music purchases and your ibooks via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage - you will need to delete the entries from your library (where you are getting the 'unable to locate' messages) before they will potentially show with the cloud icon against them in Purchased for redownloading.
Or copy them from your backup of your downloads/library and add them to your iTunes library via File > Add To Library

Importing my MP3s into Audio books

I have several old audio book tapes and CDs that I have converted to MP3. I can get them imported to my ipod 4th gen non color. They are just setup as a playlist called audio books. Here is my problem, I would like to import them into the Audio books file system so that when I start purchaseing books from itunes all of my books are together.
Am I just missing something here or can this not be done. Any ideas would be heplful.

Playing Imported Audio Books - tracks won't play in order - why?

I import a lot of Audio Book CDs into my iPod Touch for convenience.
The problem is that although the tracks import in order, are correctly named and play in order from iTunes on the PC they almost never play in order on my IPod Touch, Ipod Classic or iPhone.
The Ipod just seems to shuffle playing order. I have disabled shuffle. The iPod is not automatically shuffling due to shaking.
How do I get the tracks to play in the correct orderr.

Here are some hints and guidelines for labeling and organizing audiobooks in iTunes.
Click on the first file of the audiobook imported files list. Press and hold down the “Shift” key while doing so. While you continue to hold this key down, press the down arrow on your keyboard repeatedly until all of the files (chapters) for the first audiobook are selected. At the last file of the first audiobook, click your left mouse button once. You will see all the files from the first to last file highlighted.
Go back into the “File” menu on iTunes and click on “Get Info.” This will bring up a menu of settings you can apply to the highlighted files. Click on the “Options” tab in the settings menu that appears. Make sure the media type is selected as “audiobook.” Next to “Remember position” the option of “Yes” should be indicated.
Next you’ll want to properly label the audiobook audio files. Click on the “Info” tab and fill out relevant information you want to include on the filenames for easy access. Under “album name” put the name of the book and under “artist name” put the name of the author.
Save the settings. Click on “Audiobooks” in the long left hand side menu in iTunes. This should be in the upper left hand area. You will see a list of your newly renamed audiobook files to the right hand side.
Right click on each file individually starting with the first file of the audiobook. Click “Get Info” and under the “Name” section enter “Chapter 01” and repeat this process for each track going in order changing the chapter number by one number higher each time. Chapters 1 through 9 must have a zero before the primary number such as Chapter 01 and Chapter 09.
When you are finished the audiobook will not only be in the proper track order which allows you to play the chapters in order, but the audiobook will be labeled and easy to find.

Importing Audio Book on Multiple CD's

I have imported an Audio Book comprising mutliple CD's (23 to be precise)into my iTunes Library. I added them to a play list in order i.e. Disk1 followed by Disk2 etc
However when I sync the playlist with my new series iPOD Classic , they are not in the correct order i.e. the list may be Disk1 followed by Disk10 then Disk2
How can I ensure that the sequence is maintained i.e the disks play in the correct order ?

iTunes isn't numerically aware. As far as the alphabetic characters are concerned it will go 1,10,11,...19,2,20,21,22,23,3,4...9. This can be sorted withing iTunes by adding some leading zeros.
With iTunes 8.x you have the option to tell iTunes to treat any audio file as an audiobook. Simply select the tracks, *Get Info.*, then on the options tab set *Media kind* to Audiobook. You can also set options to *Remember playback position* and *Skip when shuffling*.
Assuming, however, that the books consist of more than one file you may have problems if you plan to listen to them on an iPod. The Audiobooks feature was originally designed for books that have been stitched up into a single file and hasn't been updated to reflect the changes that make multi-track audiobooks easy to work with in iTunes. The iPod lists audoibooks by track name and takes no notice of album values or track numbers. There are tools for creating iPod-friendly audiobooks for which Aldo on Audiobooks is probably the best reference. Personally I don't bother with the extra effort and just have an "Audiobooks" playlist folder containing sub-folders for each author and within these playlists for each audiobook. Although I still mark the files as Audiobooks when it comes to the iPod I ignore its Audiobooks section and use my own playlists for access.

Import issues, Audio/video Unsynced

Having major import issues, audio and video won't play in sync. Working with MP4 and MXF on most recent version of Premiere CC. Everything plays fine in quicktime/vlc but goest haywire in premiere. Have been through tech support twice, updated drivers, cleared cache and Premiere still has trouble playing back video/audio in sync. Any idea what's going one? Our company recently switched to adobe for the supposed "ease" it handles different codecs and so far have had nothing but issues? Sorry if this is already addressed in one of the forms, am at my witts end now having lost multiple days trying to troubleshoot premiere.

Audio Books Import into ITUNES

I received an audio book (9cds) and wanted to import into ITUNES. The cd's did transfer to ITUNES but came over as if it were a music file and didn't go to the audiobooks portion of the ipod.
Don't tell me the only way to get an audiobook on your IPOD is to buy it from ITUNES??

Only audiobooks from ITMS, audible.com and AAC files with m4b extensions (applescripts for mac) show up in audiobook main menu, skip in main menu shuffle, and allow faster/slower/normal playback speed.
