Audio book doesn't sync to iPhone 4

I have downloaded a new audio book, but when I sync my phone, it doesn't get transferred. I can do a general search on my phone and find it when I'm home, most likely due to home sharing, but it doesn't exist in the Music app. Am I doing something wrong?

Be sure that you have checked to sync your audiobook on the Books tab of your iTunes sync settings, and that your computer is authorized for the Apple ID used to purchase it (in iTunes>Authorize this Computer).  Also, if you're using Home Sharing with multiple iTunes libraries, be sure that the audiobook is actually in the iTunes library you are trying to sync with (rather than just being shared from an iTunes library on another computer).

Why don't my audiobooks sync to my iphone?

    Howdy C.Ryan,
The following thread seems to have identified where Audible Audiobook syncing is located.

Need to go to the "Books" Tab from your iPad, Scroll down... to audiobooks, they hid this well. You can select individual books and or playlists.

  • Mobileme Address Book doesn't sync on iPhone

When I revise Address Book contacts on my desktop, they sync almost immediately to MobileMe, which I can see at my MobileMe account online. None of those revisions, though, show up on my iPhone under MobileMe.
However, if I ADD new contacts on my computer, they will show up both in my MobileMe account and on my iPhone. And, I have no problems at all with iCal.
Any suggestions to correct this? It's been going on since November.

It's very basic and I know it has to be asked, so yes, I've tried all of this.
The only thing I've found that might work is turning the sync off for Contacts on my iPhone in Settings, and then turning it back on. Whether this will fix the revision aspect, I have no idea. But, I'm hoping.

  • Adress Book doesn't sync between iphone and MacBook

If I make changes or new contacts in my adressbook on the iphone 3G the information is being pushed to the mobileMe web adressbook but there is no sync to my adressbook on the MacBookPro.
Any idea what I should do to solve this problem?

It's still not pushing or syncing anything between mobileMe and iCal. Changes I make in iCal don't appear in my mobileMe calendar and changes made to mobileMe Caledar do not sync to iCal. Not in 15 minutes and not in 15 hours.
Any idea how to fix that.

why can't i see a audio book i download on my iphone on my ipad

Did you put it on your ipad?
If not, then that is why.
Did you transfer it from your iphone to your computer?
Did you then sync it to your ipad?
If not, then it will not be on your ipad.

  • Lost all my contacts in Mac address book.  Tried syncing my iPhone/iPad contacts to Mac is not working.  Please help

Lost all my contacts in Mac address book.  Tried syncing my iPhone/iPad contacts to Mac via iTunes and is not working.  Please help

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unless you have the contacts backed up somewhere, you won't be able to restore them.
You and your son should have your own iCloud accounts then you can keep your own contacts and calendars etc and avoid deleting each others.

  • How do I sync an audio book in itunes with my iphone

I downloaded an audio book from Amazon/Audible and it is currently in my itunes library.  When I try to sync with my iphone, I am unable to find my list of audiobooks for purposes of syncing.  When I am in the Sync function in itunes, I see music, video, books, etc. but no selection for audiobooks (Note, the Books selection is only for electronic copies of print books).    Where do I find audiobooks for purposes of syncing?

With your phone connected, iTunes running, click on the "Book" tab, scroll all the way down, is sync audiobooks checked? If not, put a check in the box.

  • Audio books will not sync from itunes to iphone

I have four audio books on ITunes that at one time were synced to Iphone.  Now they are not on the phone and I can not sync from Itunes, even though they are in Itunes as a purchase.  I have gone to book and audiobooks and checked sync all on both.
    thanks.

Thank you very much, that worked.  I learned something as I never tryied to right click on my phone in Itunes before.
    Thanks again.

  • I deleted an audiobook from Itunes on my computer and emptied my trash, plugged in Iphone 5s to sync Itunes. Audio book still appears on my Iphone. How do I get rid of audio book on Iphone?

I deleted an audiobook from Itunes on my computer, emptied my trash, they attached Iphone 5s to computer to sync computer to Iphone thinking that by deleting the audiobook from Itunes, the audiobook would then be deleted from my Iphone.  It's still on my Iphone.  How do I get rid of the audiobook on my phone?

You transfer the purchases to the computer you use to sync the iPhone.  You can use a thumb drive or an external HD, etc.  Read this: iTunes for Mac - How to copy purchases between computers:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1373

  • Can't prevent books from being synced from iPhone to Mac

Now that we have iCloud I can finally return my iTunes into being just a music jukebox. Apps, books, tv shows don't belong in iTunes in my Mac.
I have been able to clear everything that is not audio from my iTunes. Keeping just music and audiobooks. Except for Books.
Every time my iTunes syncs my iPhone through WiFi with iTunes it brings the purchased books back from the iPhone.
If I uncheck the box to sync books, next time it rechecks it by itself and re-adds those books. Its quite frustrating. Then the books tab in the sidebar re-appers.
I am assuming this is a bug. Anyone else having this issue? I looking forward for what I think will be iTunes 11 redesigned with iCloud in mind.

Welp, I found a silly but working solution. Check out the post from RuleRulez on this page: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3404369?start=15&tstart=0
Basically, connect the phone to iTunes, go to the Info tab, and check the box to sync mail settings. It doesn't sync any accounts, only the settings for the accounts that are on both devices. Fixed mine. Crazy.
Anyway, good luck! Hope that helps you guys!

  • Address Book doesn't sync UP to iCloud, but syncs back down..

(Sorry, Winston, and maybe Roger, I must be developing Alzheimer's ..I just cannot understand how this iCloud system works..)
I've searched through hundreds of queries and answers, but cannot find a similar problem ..but maybe I simply haven't looked hard enough.
Question on behalf of my good lady ..and I've been tearing my hair out over this for WEEKS..
She has 3502 contacts in her Address Book on her OS X Lion 10.7.4 MacBook Air. She has two iPhones. They're both running iOS 5.1.1. She has enabled iCloud on ALL these three devices, using her @me.com identity and appropriate password.
She updates Address Book contacts ONLY on her MBA - for sync'ing to her phones - and she does NOT update any Contacts info on her phones in order to have them transferred BACK to her Mac. That's how she prefers to work.
The only way that her Address Book contacts will sync UP to iCloud from the Mac appears to be to select 'All on My Mac' within Address Book, and to Export as vcards to a file on her Mac, and then, in the online iCloud Contacts webpage, to Import that file of vcards. All well and good, but that seems to ignore all her various Groups; everything ends up bundled all into one group. (Perhaps each Group in her Mac's Address Book needs to be separately Exported and then Imported, but surely it shouldn't be as long-winded as that.)
(About 402 of these contacts are not accepted by the online iCloud Contacts, although they seem to fall within the requirements of not being too many, not being too large, etc. But that's a separate problem which I'm still investigating ..maybe the names are formatted incorrectly; I'll keep working on that separately..)
Anyhow: by explicitly Importing all those Address Book contacts into the iCloud Contacts, they then immediately start to get distributed - correctly! - to her iPhones ..but also back into the Address Book on her Mac, thereby DUPLICATING them all in Address Book! (They CAN be seen as SINGLE entries by choosing 'All iCloud'.)
I cannot understand the opaque instructions in all of the iCloud documentation. NONE of the documentation which I've studiously read (online, in System Prefs, in every Help file I can find) seems to indicate a DIRECTION for this iCloud sync'ing.
WHERE - if there is such a place - does one specify that contacts should go only UP FROM the Mac, and not BACK DOWN to the Mac?
There seem to be options only to turn ON sync'ing (or off), but not the DIRECTION of sync'ing, or which device(s) take precedence. (..In iTunes - when sync'ing phones to a Mac with a cable - there's a preference to over-write EITHER the host Mac with data FROM a phone, or to over-write an iPhone's data with data FROM the Mac..)
    So I'm asking..
    (a) Can one specify a DIRECTION when turning on sync'ing for a device?
    (b) With iCloud sync'ing turned ON on a Mac, is there any known reason why Address Book contacts should not send themselves UP to the iCould, instead of having to be manually Imported?
    (c) Does one Export Groups individually? ..But what if a name is in more than one Group ..does it get duplicated online in iCloud?
    (d) Is there not the intelligence within the iCloud facility for the system to NOT distribute back, or duplicate, contacts to the device which is the SOURCE of those contacts? Should it not do a comparison between iCloud and a device, and then recognise that those contacts already exist on the remote device, and therefore NOT distribute them BACK again to the SOURCE? (..Or am I having too high expectations?..)
Many thanks in anticipation, and I'm so sorry to be such a nuisance if this has already been answered a zillion times before.
(Yes, Winston; she has almost as many iPhones as you have AppleTVs!)
    All best wishes,
    David.

David, nice to hear from you again, hope you are well.
This user tip might help you understand how accounts work with Address Book.
I believe you have duplicates because you have two sets of contacts. "iCloud" and "On My Mac". Once you have created all your contacts in the iCloud account, you should delete them from On My Mac.
You can move contacts simply by dragging and dropping from one account to the other, you don't need to export them all to the desktop (although doind so will serve as a good back up if all goes wrong). You should note that this copies them though rather than simply move them, so you'll need to delete the old set when you are done.
As for preserving groups from the On My Mac Account, you can't but you can simplify recreating them by copying contacts (drag and drop) from an on my mac group to an empty group in iCloud.
Not sure about the contacts that you are struggling to move.
Many aspects of iCloud are difficult to understand, have a mull through what I've said so far and come back if everything still doesn't fall into place.

  • HT1420 cant find audio books i purchased on my iPhone.

I just got the iPhone 5, but i lost the audio books i bought on my old iPhone 4s.
I bought the audio books about a week or two before i got the new phone, and never backed up my old phone before i traded it in.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Audiobooks are not currently part of the content that can be re-downloaded. You should sync your audiobooks to other devices via iTunes on your computer.

  • Address book doesn't  sync ONE address

I added a new contact and it won't sync to the iPhone. My guess is there are others, but it's not a particular folder. I've copied the name to make a second entry, but it still doesn't show up.

I am having the same issue and I followed your advice and lo and behold, all of my iPhone contacts flowed over into address book in my test account! What didn't happen, however was that my dummy cards I'd set up prior to the sync on the computer didn't flow over to the phone!
Any idea what this might indicate? This is the closest I've gotten to getting address book to work with my iPhone since I've had it. I've been forced to use Yahoo and Gmail address books in it's stead. I've spent over 2 1/2 hours on a Sunday morning phone call with Apple who could not seem to help at all.

  • Missing some address book data when syncing with iphone

    Hi,
I sync my iphone 3G with software version 3.0 on my Imac with Leopard 10.5.7 I have used it for over a year without any problem.
Recently, the sync of address book has been omitting some phone numbers. Say a contact has an office phone, a handphone and a fax, I will only find the fax on my iphone. The number "sellected" for syncing with the iphone is not always the same... sometimes the fax, sometimes the office, etc. Most contacts are only allowed 1 phone number on the iphone, but some have none and some have them all. Last, the land address, the email and other fields are never affected.
Of course, before posting, I already restored my Iphone, but the problem remained.
This problem is in fact very serious since I must carry at all time a printed copy of my 600 contacts...
Thank you in advance for help

I have seen a similar problem on my setup (Outlook and Windows XP). In my case, I found out the iPhone doesn't like certain types of phone field names. When you create a new contact on the iPhone, you can choose mobile, iPhone, home, work, main, home fax, work fax, pager, and other. If, for example, your source data has a contact with a "main" phone number, that number doesn't sync properly.
If you go to Google Maps and find a new address and add it to your contacts, it uses the "Phone" name for the phone field. Oddly, that field is not one on the iPhone list. The phone shows up, but when you edit the contact and try to edit the phone, it automatically switches that field to "Mobile". I think that is an attempt by the iPhone to make sure you have a valid field name for your phone numbers.
The way I see it, it is a bug. I have never had a similar issue with other devices and sync software. Try going into a contact on your computer you are having problems with, and change the field name of one of the missing phone numbers to "work" and resync. See if that makes it sync.
