Audio book help

I've recently bought a few audio books from the i Tunes store, but when I came to listen to them, I wanted to pause the listening of the book and listen again another day. I looked for a way to 'bookmark' where I'm up to in the audio book so that i Tunes would remember where I last left off and start again at that point. So far I've been unable to find out how to do this and have had to search around for ages to find the right spot. This is very frustrating, because although the audio book is divided into sections, they are very long - a couple of hours so its a bit inconvenient if you're wanting to go do something different and you've not reached the end of a section. Also, I can't get i Tunes to even remember which section I last listened to.
PLEASE can someone help me? Thanks.

Highlight all of the tracks.

  • I just purchased extra storage for my iCloud.  How and where do I access it?  I purchased movies and audio books to find out that I didn't have enough storage (the reason for the extra storage purchase).  I have no idea where to find them now.  Help?!

How do I use my iCloud???
I purchased 4 movies and 2 audio books from iTunes only to find out my iPad2 didn't have enough storage, so I purchased more storage from iCloud.
My iTunes account only shows the 4 movies that need to still be downloaded (not the two books)  After purchasing 20GB from iCloud I am still receiving the  "There is not enough available storage.  You can manage your storage in Settings" message.  I have gone to my Settings, where it shows I have the new, extra storage.  I have set all the iCloud settings as shown on the Apple website.  In my iCloud settings, it shows I have 17GB available out of 25GB.   In my General settings, it shows that I have a capacity of 28.6 GB, while my Available is 2.9GB.  (????)
I don't know why I still can't download the movies.  I wouldn't know where to go (how to get to) the iCloud if I could...
Also, iTunes has sent me receipts for the movies and audio books I purchased as well.  Where are they???
Thank you SO very much for any assistance you can offer me!

Audiobooks are currently a one-time only download from the store. If you don't have it on your computer (audiobooks go into the Books part of your iTunes library) nor on a backup, then if it's still in the store you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

I am looking for a good app that can help a college student with reading books that cannot be found on audio book.  I have tried voice over and it works but it's very monotone and it really strings things together.
    - I'm willing to pay for a good app but I can't seem to sort though the many that are out there. Any suggestions.

Ah. I'm surprised, but there we go.

Didn't have time to do more than skim, but 'Ardour' looked promising. Protools is the only one I've used, the full product is one of the industry standards, but the free 'lite' version listed here seems to be limited to 2 in/out as well.
Referring to your original post, I'd think trying to write or 'script' something would be a nightmare ... synchronisation of streams within something like Applescript would be a major issue, quite apart from anything else.

  • Can you please help with importing CDs and audio books?

I tried to search for this topic, but had no luck.
Have been happy with IPOD until today. On trying to import a new audio book to iTunes and then updating IPOD to install on it, I can see the title in both the iTunes Library and menu of IPOD. However, instead of seeing a normal 57:32 (or similar stop time), I am seeing 789:57:13.152. When I try to play it through iTunes or IPOD, it skips it as if it wasn't there and plays something else. I checked out importing a music CD, and find the same problem.
Appreciate any advice you can give.

let's first see if you can get the CDs to import normally if you switch off "error correction" in the iTunes Advanced-Importing preferences subtab.
but if no joy there, try checking through the other suggestions from the following document:

  • Help with audio books on CDs please

Please be gentle, I'm totally new to the ipod phenomenon and itunes etc.
Just got a new ipod touch and want to put my previously purchased Harry Potter audio cd's on to it to listen to. Trouble is when I do that it classes them as music rather than putting them in the audio book section of the ipod. Now it's not a huge problem but it really is quite irritating. I object to paying the extortionate rate on itunes for something I've already got so don't want to download them again.
Is there a way of changing the way itunes recognises my cds to class it as an audio book and if so is there a way of combining the 7+ cd's for each book together so that it becomes just 1 book rather than having them as seperate cd's called the same thing? (hope I'm making sense here!)
If anyone can help I'd be very grateful.

Take another look. The Aldoblog isn't really complicated. The summary of items to note
    - You can reduce your file size by going to preferences/advanced/import and changing to 32kps (more details in the blog). Not necessary, but will save you lots of space.
    - You want to joint the cd tracks to limit the number of files. Highlight all the tracks, and select join tracks from the advanced menu. You do this each time you import a disk, and end up with one track for each CD.
    - Once you've got all your disks read in, then select the tracks to get info (you can right click). Under options, select "remember playback position". That way when you only have to remember which disk you last played.
I create a playlist for each audio book.

  • HT1657 Help to get audio books off iphone 4s

After much trial and error, I have finally unlocked the mystery of how to remove Audiobook files from the iphone without changing the file name or type.  Here are the steps:
    1.  Plug in your iPhone to your computer
    2.  Launch iTunes
    3.  Click on the left-hand menu option that says "books"
    4.  All the audiobooks (such as iTunes or Audible) will be here with cover art for each one.  If you right click on these titles, you will have the option to "Uncheck Selection" or "Check Selection" depending on whether or not it is on your iPhone.
    5.  If you want to remove an audiobook from your iPhone, simply right click and select "Uncheck Selection"
    6.  Sync your iPhone
    7.  If you are still having problems, you have probably changed your sync options for music.  Change them so that you are only syncing selected items(there are 2 different places to control these options, the "Summary" tab(which should have the "Option" "select songs and videos..." checkbox checked) and the "Music" tab(which should have the "selected playlists, artists,..." checkbox checked).
    8.  Magically those pesky audio books that you know and love are no longer on your iphone
    9.  Write Apple a nasty email and ask why $10 million in audiobook revenue hasn't warranted a software change to make this easier to understand and do.

I don't know how many contacts you have, but if it is a reasonable # maybe you can enter all of them into icloud and have them sync to your device going forward.

  • Backed up my ipod touch with itunes now all my audio books are in itunes but i cant put them back on my ipod. i have never used such a pathetic system as this. whats the point of buying books if you cant put them back on the ipod to listen to. help please

please help i have an ipod touch downloaded several audio books for it. backed up ipod and synced with itunes now the ipod has no audio books on it and they are in itunes but i can not get them back on to the ipod. apples systems are incredibly awkward. any other system allows for mp3's etc to be drag and drop not this long winded and what appears to be a complete waste of time. you buy things and once synced you loose it and cant put it back

Are audiobooks still configured to sync to your iPod Touch via the iPod's Books configuration tab in iTunes?  To check, plug your iPod in and select it from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes.  This will bring you to the Summary tab.  Locate the Books tap along the top and select it.  Here you can configure how and what audiobooks sync to your device.
Or if you want to manually drag and drop audiobooks onto your iPod, you'll have to enable the device for manual management.  See here for more details.

  • HT2905 My itunes looks nothing like the examples in this tutorial.  I do not have "display exact duplicates" or "date added".  Can someone please help me remove duplicate songs?  Also, I downloaded two audio books and they are showing up in my song list.

My itunes looks nothing like the examples in this tutorial.  I do not have "display exact duplicates" or "date added".  Can someone please help me remove duplicate songs?  Also, I downloaded two audio books and they are showing up in my song list. Why???

'Show duplicates' is now under the 'View' menu. To see the 'Date added' column go to 'View options' from the 'View' menu and check it in the section under 'Stats'.
Click an audiobook once to select it and hit command-i (Mac) or control-i (Windows). Go to the 'Options' tab and set 'Media Kind' to 'Audiobook'.

  • Help needed with audio books

Could someone please tell me how i get an audio book to appear under the category "Audio books". Everytime i import an audio book into itunes it shows up as a song file and ends up in the middle of all my songs instead of its own category? ? ?

Only audiobooks from ITMS, audible.com and AAC files with m4b extensions (applescripts for mac) show up in audiobook main menu, skip in main menu shuffle, and allow faster/slower/normal playback speed.

Then restore from you Mac laptop's backup, if you have not been backing up then you may be in for a very painful lesson on why backing up is the VERY FIRST thing you should do with any new Mac. Create a backup plan and use it on a regular basis. If the laptop was using 10.5.x or later then you have absolutely no excuse for not backing up. Sorry for being terse and blunt but Time Machine has been built into 10.5.x, 10.6.x and 10.7.x so we have had years to have a seamless and mindless method of backing up. If you have been using an earlier verision of OS X there are quite a number of methods of backing up.
If you aren't successful then take the laptop and iMac to your local Apple Store or AASP and they may be able to help you recover your contacts.

  • Help with iTunes 7 - Libraries and audio books

    Hi,
New to these forums and just awaiting receipt of my first Ipod Nano. Couple of queries as I'm trying to get iTunes loaded up ready.
If I buy an audio book from ITunes Store, will it come in same format as a CD version in terms of its track file types/names etc? Reason I ask is that I'm burning my CD version of 'The Da Vinci Code' onto iTunes. By default it's going into 'Music' and there are about 150+ 'tracks'. That will clog up my Music folder a lot.
I can't get it to go under 'Audio Books' at all which would seem to be a better place for it, or is that not how the Library works? No matter what I do I can't seem to shift the tracks from Music but I can of course put them all under a playlist entitles 'Da Vinci Code'.
No major problem as, once I've heard it once, I'll delete it anyway but it seems odd that there is an 'Audiobook' library but not one you are able to put books transferred from CD into?.
I suspect that the books bought from iTunes are put together differently with different file name suffixes that lets iTunes identify them as books and that any book copies to iTunes from CD will show as music. If not, how do I get books under Audiobooks in the Library???
I did try converting all the files to aac but even that doesn't affect it.
Am contemplating getting one of these Rough Guide iTunes/Ipod books but figure it may be a bit of a waste for what is probably fairly simple. That said, the iTunes 'Help' is far from exhaustive (or in parts useful).
    Any help appreciated.
