Audio books disappeared

since updating my iPad to iOS 7.0.3 all my audio books have dissapeared and there is no tab for it in the music tab.  where are they?

You should have transferred any purchases made on your ipad to your computer regularly, particularly before any update.
Have you failed to do this?

  • HT201272 Audio books disappeared with update. Help?

I have an iPhone 4s, which I just updated to iOS 7 and synced to my Macbook, on which I also just updated the software/OS. Before these updates, I purchased several audiobooks on my phone and could easily access them through my phone's iTunes. However, now that I have updated to iOS 7, all of my audio books have disappeared completely. All the music I purchased is still there and available, but not a single audio book is there. Am I just missing something??? It's as if they never existed, but I still have the receipts. Does anyone know how to access previously purchased audio books on iOS 7? This is amazingly frustrating, so any help is appreciated! Thanks!

I'm having same issue as OP. Music disappeared today along with audiobooks and audiobooks tab.  When i go to redo's load it says I have to purchase the audiobook again. Also the audiobooks tab has disappeared from music app. So frusterated. Any other ideas?

  • I had purchased an audio book from itunes on my iPad and when I synced my iPad with my computer, my audiobook disappeared. I have already purchased this audiobook, so now I just need to know how to get it back because it is not on iPad anymore.

I had purchased an audio book from itunes on my iPad and when I synced my iPad with my computer, my audiobook disappeared. I have already purchased this audiobook, so now I just need to know how to get it back because it is not on iPad anymore. I don't think the audiobook was backed up to icloud but I have the receipt to prove I purchased it. Is there anyway I can get it back?

"If I purchase an audio book in iTunes on my iPad why can't I listen to it on my Mac? "
You can.  Why do you think you cannot?
If you purchased it on your ipad, then you would have to transfer it to your computer. File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.
You can then listen to it on your computer.

  • I purchased 2 audio books that have disappeared!

I purchased 2 audio books about an hour ago, one didn't download at all and has disappeared from my computer and iTunes all together. - though when I tried to re-purchase it was showing that I had already done so! The second audio book downloaded Part 2 and Part 3 but Part 1 has also disappeared from everything!
iTunes is showing no "Available Downloads" so i'm stuck & really need help!

Audiobooks are a one-time only download from the store. If you haven't got copies of them in your iTunes library nor on your backup of your downloads/library (and if you haven't moved countries since buying them and they are still in the store) then you can you can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will grant you a redownload : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • The audio book icon disappeared

I have 2 related problems.  First, the audio book icon disappeared from my iPod nano.  Second, when I add audio books to my iPod using iTunes (even when I had the audio book icon) it puts the audio books in with music and then the books won't play in order.  This means that I can't listen to the books from the beginning to the end and I have to try to hunt for the next chapter.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

You don't have to make a playlist. I was checking if you did a create a playlist which might have led to it showing in music app. Check to make sure the media kind is audio books. You can do this by:
Right click on audio book -> Get info -> Info. Here make sure the media kind is audiobook.
    Hope this helps!

  • How do I recover two audio books I just bought?  I synced by iPad to my computer and the books disappeared.

I synced my iPad to my coputer and the audio books I just bought dissappeared.  How do I get them back?

Download them directly from "purchases" in the iTunes Store.

  • How do i get an audio book to show the progress bar?

I want to get back to a specific point in an audio book to listen over again without having to listen to an entire chapter. I used to be able to drag the bar that appeared under the title of the book, but that bar is not there any more. I have set it up in options as audio book, remember place etc, but the progress bar has disappeared from all my books.

    What iOS version?
Are you using the Music app?

  • Audio book download and ipod shuffle

I am having difficulty getting the audio book I purchased from itunes, to load onto my shuffle. I see it in the playlist, but can't sync it to my ipod, it just disappears. Advice?

Audiobooks (and podcasts) need to be dragged-and-dropped onto the shuffle in iTunes...

  • My audio file disappears on ipad after I touched it ?

My audio file disappears on ipad after I touched it ? I used suggested format for audio. I have three audio files on my page, when touched one of them and going to touch another it disappear . What I do wrong? Or it is a bug ?

Yes, I did solve the problem.  I only had one audio on the page though. The audio appeared to work fine, but then it would disappear. I just deleted the audio. Then I retrieved the audio again from iTunes and placed it back into the book.  Then the audio worked fine. I hope you are able to find a solution.

  • Settings for ripping an audio book cd

I recently started ripping an audio book cd.  I wanted to set it up like other iTunes store audio books are recognized on my ipod.  I changed the genre to Audio Book CD, and changed in the Options tab to "Audiobook".  It went from being an album in my library to disappearing altogether, although I can still find it on my hard drive and can't figure out why its gone from my iTunes interface.

I know this is over a month old, but thought that I would answer you, since no one else has. The Audiobook has not disappeared. You are looking in your MUSIC library. You need to switch to the BOOKS library and choose AUDIOBOOKS from the tabs at the top (provided you have the latest version of iTunes).
    I hope this helps!

  • Audio books mixed in with music

Hi, I am a bit of a novice with all of this so please bear with me and keep answers as simple as possible!!  I download from CD audio books for my son, primarily harry potter, they are currently all mixed in with my music.  I put them into seperate playlists for each book to try and keep a track but they play when I have my ipod on shuffle.
I am looking for a way to have them seperate as audio books.  Also I the audiobook header in the Library has disappeared, any ideas on how to reinstate this?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Me Again!!!
I have imported a set of 24 cds all for one book using the advice given on here and aldoblog.
When I have set them as 'audiobooks' it has transferred them into the books section.  But, it has put each seperate cd as an individual book. No big deal, but just a bit annoying and not as tidy as the others that I have done.
Any ideas on how I link them together.
    Many thanks

  • Audio books wont go on ipod

Downloading audio books from Librivox, using 64 Kbps MP3 Zip, Choose Save As, Direct book to go into Music, ITunes file. Book is on HD Win7.  on ipod:
"on this ipod is empty"  little arrow on left hand side shows playlists I made for these books, there are "songs" within the playlists, but my ipod is still empty. have re started and resinked many times, won't transfer for real and appear.

I also cannot sync my audible books onto my IPOD classic itunes v9.2 - it will sync the music/books from itunes store but all of my audible book downloads have disappeared from my ipod. They are on the itune account but simply will not download to my IPOD. Microsoft is also reporting that itunes does not have a microsoft digital signature and so my pc refuses to upgrade v9.2 with CD/DVD devices.I really hate it when Apple does these upgrades without doing full beta testing for all products. I did restore my IPOD and I also uninstalled and reinstalled Itunes but v9.2 will not co-ooperate. Does anyone have a solution out there?

  • HT1351 Audio book download on computer, shows up in my g drive for ipod, but will not connect with my device ...goes through syncing, but audio book not is transferred to actual device

Audio book appears in my downloads, has been transferred to ipod (it shows up in g drive when I plug in ipod), but when I complete the sync, and disconnect ipod, the book is not transferred to ipod

Same problem here with the same iPod- Gen4, 20 G- this started on Friday. None of the "fixes" Apple offers help because iTunes and My Computer freeze when the iPod is connected. If I disconnect while My Computer is open, it shows up briefly as the E: drive with an exclamation point and then disappears. If I disconnect with iTunes open, everything that I tried to open while it was connected suddenly pops up. I can't restore the iPod because the Updater freezes while the iPod is connected. There is no difference when I try to do these things in disk mode. The disk manager function in windows sees the iPod, but freezes up when you try and click on it.
I've run all the diagnostic tests and it passed them all. It does the same thing on other computers (all PCs) that I've tried.

  • Synchronisation of audio books iTunes iphone

in iTunes i can generate a selection of my audio books i like to synchronize with my iphone. the synchronization works perfectly.
unfortunately the selection is lost for a next synchronization and it synchronizes the whole audio book list. otherwise i have to select again. with around 100 audio books a little bit nasty...
    is there a way out?

All I can say is you are not alone. I downloaded a book From Itunes Store and it downloaded in to Recently added and show's up no where else. It is not added to the Audiobooks area and you would think that because I purchased it might go in the right place. Also just FYI if you download a mpeg movie it disappears as well. And although you imported it in to your library it disappears and can not even be found with the search tool in itunes.

  • HT1848 recover lost audio book

I purchased an iphone 5 and immediately began to use it.  I purchased an audio book directly from the phone, before I had the chance to set up and sync the phone with the imac for the first time.  Later when I set the phone up and attempted to sync the phone with the mac - the book disappeared. I first saw it in the itunes library - then later it was gone on both the computer and the phone.  Is there a way to recover the audio book?

If it is really gone, Itunes can grant it back. But you will have to call apple care to get it done.
