Audio books in I-tunes 10

I just updated to i-tunes 10, and have discovered that there no longer seems to be a books or audiobooks tab under the library section (for files on the computer).
I still have a books heading for my I-phone under "devices," and can still see the list of books I have on the phone there. I can also see the books included in my playlists under the playlists tab--on both the phone and the computer. But I can't find a general list of audiobooks on the computer.
Anyone have any idea what's happening here? Am I just looking in the wrong place or has Apple changed something with I-tunes?

Oops--I just found the missing checkmark on the preferences menu. (Wonder how that got itself unchecked during the upgrade?) Nevermind!

    HI CEGS,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
Audiobooks can be found in your Music app on the iPad.
I've referenced the section of the iPad User Guide (page 78):
    manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/ipad_user_guide.pdf
See additional browse buttons: Tap More.
I hope this information helps ....
    Have a great day!

  • Purchased an audio book from I Tunes and want to download/sync with my I Phone 5...how do it do it?

I purchased an audio book from I tunes and it is in my recent purchases on my Mac Book Pro and I would like to download it to my I Phone 5. How do i do it?

    Hello there Michael,
It sounds like you have audiobooks on your computer you want to sync to your iPhone 5. You can do this in the Books tab in iTunes when you have your iPhone connected:
iTunes 11 for Mac: Add iBooks and audiobooks to iPod, iPhone, or iPad
Sync iBooks or audiobooks to your device
Connect your device to your computer and select your device in iTunes.
    Click the Books button.
Do either or both of the following:
Sync iBooks: Select Sync Books, then click “All books,” or click “Selected books” and select the iBooks you want to add.
Sync audiobooks: Select Sync Audiobooks, then click “All audiobooks,” or click “Selected audiobooks” and select the audiobooks you want to add.
    Click Apply.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Regards,
    Sterling

Those videos are probably not in an iPod-friendly format. It’s picky about that. You can try converting them, if possible.
As for the audiobooks, are you sure they haven’t synced? You’ve enabled it to sync books and checked the “Audiobooks” section of your iPod?

  • I have downloaded an audio book from I tunes.   How do I now access this?  is her an app like iBooks from audio books?

I have downloaded an audio book from the I tunes store.  is here an app hat I can now access this from like the iBooks app?

If you've downloaded it on your iPad then it should be in the Music app (and similarly for audiobooks that you sync from your computer's iTunes) - when you have audiobooks on an iPad you will get an Audiobooks option under the More button at the bottom of the Music app.
Note that audiobooks are currently a one-time only download from the store (so they won't appear in the Purchased tab for re-downloading), so you may want to copy it from your iPad to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases so that you can take a backup copy of it - it should copy over to the Books part of your iTunes library.

  • HT201272 I am trying to recover my aunts audio books for i tunes. We registered her new ipod and authorized her new computer, but in the purchased menu it is not showing the audio books. Any suggestions? Customer service support is not working for me.

Can somebody please help me. I am trying to recover my aunts audio books that she has purchased. I have authorized her new computer and registered her new ipod. There is no option for audio books under purchased and itunes is telling me there are no available downloads. She has purchased several audio books in the last two years.

thank-you! yeah, i cant see going to 64.  as it stood sound quality was dodgy. good on some stuff, great on others, and terrible on a few. i have some great news...my ipod is not showing up in itunes.   again. i give up. it has music on it. its full to the tippy top. i fooled around with some of the things the trouble shooter wizard thing suggested last night for hours. didnt fix it. after awhile i was just going in circles. i will just live with the thing the way it is. but i will say one thing; after reading some of the posted issues other folks are having i'm just glad i didnt put everything in the cloud....peace

  • I just purchased an audio book from I tunes for my I pod and I need to know how to get it from my PC to the I pod?

  • HT5085 Audio books from I tunes

How do get the audio books from my I pad transferred to my I phone? I subscribed to I match and it was a waste of money. I'm not Abel to cancel or get my money back and my books are not in the cloud or on my list. Please help

iTunes Match is for more music only. Audiobooks are a one-time only download from the store, so if you want them on your iPhone then you will need to connect your iPad to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over to your computer, and you can then sync them to your phone.

  • I can not play music video's or audio books on I tunes (Windows 7).

The message I get is: This movies requires Quick Time which is not included in this version of I Tunes.  I have upgraded to 10.5.1  Any help greatly appreciated!

It might be worth trying a dxdiag to see if that finds anything amiss, michael.
Go Start > Run. In your Run, type dxdiag and hit enter.
Work through the troubleshooting tabs. Does dxdiag report any problems?

  • I ordered an audio book is there a way of sharing the book with someone ?

I ordered an audio book from I tunes it is too large for me to email it to my sister is there another way i can share it with her?

You will have to authorize your sisters device for your iTunes account (your AppleID and Password).  Audiobooks are DRM locked just as almost all iTunes audio content is.

  • I had some audio books I downloaded onto my iPhone which I soaked in water

Help me retrieve my audio books from I tunes. It is agreeing that I purchased the book but I cannot download again for free

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not available in all countries; only apps, books (not audiobooks), music, and t.v. shows (not movies).  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list, or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
If the above doesn't work, it is reported iTunes Support permitting a second download when asked nicely, but they are in no way obliged to do this. Go to https://expresslane.apple.com ; select 'iTunes' in the first column; 'iTunes Store' in the second column; third column click 'Purchases, Billing & Redemption' and proceed from there.

  • Audio books on the nano?

When I browse the audio books on I tunes it does not tell you the volume/space of the book. How can I know if the 2GB or 4GB nano will be able store the audio book? How many books can the 2GB or the 4GB nano hold? For example, if I purchased the entire set of Harry Potter, will the 2GB or the 4GB be able to store all of the books at one time?

It depends on how much music you want on your Nano...I'm using mine the same way I used my 4 gigabyte mini...I've loaded just a couple of my audiobooks onto it, along with about 3 gigs of music and a couple photo albums. I just switch out the audiobooks as I listen to them.
I answer to your question - Yes - you could probably fit the entire set of Harry Potter on your Nano...but that wouldn't leave a lot of room for music...

  • HT1420 I purchased an audio book several years ago.  When I upgraded from a 2009 imac to a 2012 lion iMac, I was able to transfer all songs and media from my I-tunes account with the exception of my audio books.  My apple I.D. I tunes account was same of

Upgraded from a 2009 to 2012 Imac with lion.  Successfully transferred all media and music with exception of audio books.  Same Apple I.D. & I-tunes account.
Apple support unable to help.  Have done all the routine i.e:  ITunes store, click on purchased, etc.  Audio Books not shown in history.
    Help

Audiobooks are currently a one-time only download (which I think is a requirement from audible.com who supply them). Have you not got them on a backup ? If not (and I don't know if this is what you've already tried) then you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
