Audio books not listed...

I've downloaded some audio books onto iTunes and then on my ipod but they never show up in the audio book menu on my ipod. Is this only for books bought from the iTunes store? How do I get the books to not play when I want only music? Any help is appreciated.

Basically you need to import as AAC. Delete from
library without deleting file. Change file extension
to .m4b. Add file to library again.

great tryed it with a couple of the files and it worked, thanks. since each cd had about 14 tracks and there were 64 cd's i have a lot of ext to change but still easier then ripping them again.

Audio books not appearing in iPod list

I have an 80gb 5g.
I recently purchased an audio book from iTunes and downloaded to my library. The book appears in the directory tree list under audiobooks and when I sync the ipod the audiobook item is also in the directory tree under "Devices".
However the Audiobook tab does not appear in the Summary on the RH window in iTunes and does not appear on the iPod as a heading "Audiobooks" To access the audiobook I have to scroll down the "artists" list - I find this rather strange.
Anyone having the same problem - or am I missing something?

My issue sounds similar. I bought a book from itunes and downloaded it. I can listen to it on my laptop without an issue. When I move it to my 30G Video Ipod, it shows up in the AudioBook folder when I view that folder via the computer. However, when I disconnect the Ipod from the laptop, the audio book does not appear in the audio book folder.

I can not see my audio books on my ipad without searching for them from search ipad. I have synced the ipad with my computer using wireless and cable but nothing shows up in music > more for audio books. I am using the updated 7.0.3. I synced my iphone and they show up. I origanally downloaded the books on my ipad, but I have synced with my computers itune a few times. Any help would be appreciated.

When you use the search box are you able to then select the audiobooks and play them, and do they show in Settings > General > Usage > Music ?
Have you tried closing the Music app via the iPad's multitasking bar and seeing if you get the Audiobooks tab at the bottom of the Music app when you re-open the app ? Double-click the home button to open the taskbar, and then swipe or drag the Music app's screen from there up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.

Audio Books Not Resuming / Ipod locks if exit Music after 2.2.1 Upgrade

I have a 1G 16GB Ipod Touch, and have been running 1.1.4 for the past year until about a week ago when I took the plunge and upgraded to 2.2.1. I thought all went well, but have been experiencing multiple problems as my use of the Ipod expands.
I subscribe to Audible and listen to long audio books on my drive to work. In 1.1.4 I was able to pause the books, go off and do other things, and come back to resume where I left off. This feature no longer works correctly for me after the 2.2.1 upgrade.
After pausing an audio book, I am able to resume playback where I left off if I stay within the Music application (even playing other songs or books). However, if I exit the Music application back to the Main Menu, the Ipod locks for about 30 seconds before I can start another app, lock, or go back into music. If music is playing when I go back to the Main Menu, it will continue during this time the Ipod is locked and then stop. If no music is playing, the Ipod still locks, so it doesn't matter if music is playing or not.
After the Ipod becomes responsive again, I can go back into Music, but I find that all my audio books have reverted back to the bookmarks that existed a week ago when I did the upgrade. For example, I was on Chapter 6 of a book when I did the upgrade, listened up to Chapter 10 and paused. I exited the Music, came back in, and it reverted to the exact second in Chapter 6 where the bookmark was placed before the upgrade. I have tried multiple experiments with this, and it's always the same result. I upgraded to 2.2.1 to use Apps, so it stinks that I can't leave Music...ever.
Is there anything that I can do to fix this issue or am I going to be forced to downgrade back to 1.1.4?

Well, I managed to fix the problem thru sheer brute force so I figured I would at least pass along what I did in case someone else has this issue. Evidently, doing an in-place upgrade does not work so as a last resort I used "Restore", cleared the Ipod, reloaded everything back on and the playback positions are now working again in music and video. Something screwy must have happened during the upgrade and just needed to start over. Still trying to reload everything (they REALLY need a mass backup feature for photos/music/videos) but looks like it will work.

Audio books not syncing, can't find them anywhere

I think I am done purchasing any audiobooks from Apple. This is ridiculous. I purchased two audio books on my phone that I wanted to transfer to my sons iPod and the only way I could figure out how to do this was to sync my iphone with my iTunes on my desktop. I tried doing a "transfer purchases from iPhone" first but that didn't work. It just did the music files, no audiobooks. Then I tried syncing it the old fashioned way. But instead of putting the audiobook on my computer it erased it completely from my iPhone. Not only that, but they've burried the link to the audio books in iTunes so deep that it's almost impossible to find. This is just stupid, it shouldn't be so hard to buy audiobooks and then share them with family members.

They should be in your library and also should be included in your regular backup of your computer.

Audio book not showing up under menu

Yesterday I perchaced 2 a few new audio books on itunes and put them onto my ipod mini. One of them has gone on fine and shows up in the audio book menu. The 3 are on there when I look through the albums section but aren't listed under the audio book menue on the ipod.
While I could just access them through the alubms menu I know I'll forget they're there if they aren't in the list with all the rest of my audio books so has anyone got any idea why they haven't gone there and what I can do to fix it?(I didn't load them on any different from the one that went on fine)

Play position in audible audio books not syncing back from iPhone to iTunes

Hi everybody. I hope I don't open a redundant thread, but i couldn't find one that has this topic.
Anyway, I am syncing some audio books from audible to my iPhone. When i start playing them on the phone, the play position is in sync to the position in iTunes. Now let's say i listen one hour on the phone and then sync again.
Contrary to what i expected, the further advanced play position from the phone is NOT synced back to iTunes but the old position from iTunes is synced again to the phone. So the next time I access the audio book on the phone I start where i started in the first place.
Is this a bug or have I missed some setting wheresoever?

I have seen others complain about it. For me I never listen via PC (only phone) so I haven't had an issue yet. Though I do when I stop listening look at the time and chapter/file I am at and go over to Notes and jot it down. Due to reboots or other issues, it has lost where I was but with my notes, I can quickly get back.

Audio books not play

Help, I downloaded an audio book to my computer and copied it to my MUVO TX FM but it will not play book. I first had it in separate file, then in music file, then in audio file. Each time I try to play it, the display shows that I am in the file but it will not play. I've also tried all possible play modes..still nothing. Any sugestions?

SSR, I figured it out this morning. Here are the details: I downloaded an audiobook from netlibrary onto my computer. It comes in WMA format. I then copy-pasted it into a folder I created called books.
wee, the durned thing wouldn't play. I saw somewhere, maybe on this board that media player was the path to file transfer so I figured out how to us it and viola, through the magical art of synchronization, the WMA file works even when I moved the file into the book folder.
My next querie is this: How do I save the spot in the book so that when I turn off the devise or move balk and forth from my music files I dont loose my place?

Recently I downloaded a audio book from I Tunes. It shows in the store that it downloaded, however I can not find it anywhere on my I Phone.I checked I Book, not there. I can not have it in audio app as the id`s are not the same. I plugged the I Phone into my Windows computer,the audio book shows up on my I Tunes there.I wanted to be able to access this audio on my I Phone to listen to while traveling. Any ideas?

Same problem here with the same iPod- Gen4, 20 G- this started on Friday. None of the "fixes" Apple offers help because iTunes and My Computer freeze when the iPod is connected. If I disconnect while My Computer is open, it shows up briefly as the E: drive with an exclamation point and then disappears. If I disconnect with iTunes open, everything that I tried to open while it was connected suddenly pops up. I can't restore the iPod because the Updater freezes while the iPod is connected. There is no difference when I try to do these things in disk mode. The disk manager function in windows sees the iPod, but freezes up when you try and click on it.
I've run all the diagnostic tests and it passed them all. It does the same thing on other computers (all PCs) that I've tried.

Audio book not play

Any audiobook frim iTunes Store will install on my iPod nano but it will not play. The Aduiobooks icon is there and the book title is there but when I select to start an icon shows up momentarily and disappears. But the book will NOT start.
This problem started when I had 2 audiobooks on my iPod and deleted one of them (menu delete function).
I am going to try a Reset to Factory Settings to see if that will fix the problem.

So the audiobook downloaded to the Books library category in iTunes and when you double click on it to play it nothing happens? If so, delete the audiobook and try redownloading it.

Once we can get it to play in iTunes, we can then set it up to sync to the Shuffle.

Purchased Audio Book not available anymore

Hello, I'm using a Mac to sync my phone and Ipad. After upgrading to iOS5 I am no longer able to access my Audiobook that was purchase. I Tried to redownload the book, but it's recharging me for something That I've already purchased. How can I get this book again?

Audio books not updating

Is anyone out there having problems with Iphone not syncing audiobooks? I have done several things such as unchecking,rechecking, restoring, rebooting. You name it I have done it. Still won't work. The program acts like it was adding but never did. Any suggestions?

Okay figured it out. For some reason when you look at audiobooks it shows only one book loaded, so it appears to only have downloaded one book. It took the cover of one of my books, so I assumed it downloaded only one, but once you select it, the next screen shows the other books separately.
