Audio books on the nano?

When I browse the audio books on I tunes it does not tell you the volume/space of the book. How can I know if the 2GB or 4GB nano will be able store the audio book? How many books can the 2GB or the 4GB nano hold? For example, if I purchased the entire set of Harry Potter, will the 2GB or the 4GB be able to store all of the books at one time?

It depends on how much music you want on your Nano...I'm using mine the same way I used my 4 gigabyte mini...I've loaded just a couple of my audiobooks onto it, along with about 3 gigs of music and a couple photo albums. I just switch out the audiobooks as I listen to them.
I answer to your question - Yes - you could probably fit the entire set of Harry Potter on your Nano...but that wouldn't leave a lot of room for music...

  • The audio book on my nano only emits a quick, tin-like sound beginning with the 77th chapter. Any ideas?

I have been listening to a four volume audio book on my nano. At the 76/77th chapter, the narration stops and all I hear is a faint, rapid beat-like sound. This happens on all subsequent chapters. (The first 76 chapters continue to work just fine.) This had never happened before, and I've listened to a ton of books.
I restored the nano to the original factory settings and synced the book to my nano again. Same problem.
The book plays just fine on my computer, so I don't think it's corrupted.
One other bit of information. About 3 months ago, I dropped the nano and cracked the glass a bit. I covered the cracks with some clear packing tape, and it has continued to work just fine--until now.
My software is up to date--version 1.2. Mine is an 8 GB nano, the little square version. It's about a year old and is formatted to my Mac.
    Any ideas?

The info on my MacBook is incorrect. I'm running OS 10.9.5,

  • How to put audio book under the audio book folder int he ipod nano

I am having trouble putting my audio book under the audio book folder in the ipod nano.
Every time i ask the ipod to play all musics, its plays all including all audio book. I ' d like to have it play book only when i ask for it.
Can someone show me how to fix this?
    Thanks

    Hello Clifforce,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
There are two things you could do here. First, change the *Media Type* of the audiobook tracks in iTunes to "Audiobook" via the "Get Info" screen under the Options tab.
Under this same tab, you could also tick the "Skip when Shuffling" option for these tracks. When you have finished, sync the updated changes to your iPod.

Is this audiobook configured to sync to your iPod via it's Books configuration pane in iTunes?  Click on your iPod's device name under Devices in the left hand pane of iTunes.  This will bring you to the Summary tab.  Look for the Books tab along the top and click on it.

  • What do I do to download an audio book to ipod nano

What do I do to download an audio book to ipod nano?

If you are currently using automatic syncing for the other media types, such as songs, you need to go to iPod's Books tab.
First, if you are using the latest version of iTunes, it may hide the sidebar.  To show the sidebar, go up to the menu bar, and under View, select Show Sidebar.
Select the iPod in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, there is a row of "tabs" that starts with Summary.  One of those tabs is Books (if you currently have audiobooks in your iTunes library).  On the Books tab, set it to Sync Audiobooks, and choose to sync All audiobooks or Selected audiobooks.  If you choose the latter, checkmark the audiobooks you want to sync below.  Apply the change.
If you use the manual method (not automatic syncing) to load songs, by dragging songs from the iTunes library to the iPod in the sidebar, you can do the same with audiobooks.  Find them under Books in the iTunes library, and drag the ones you want to the iPod in the sidebar.

  • HT3951 When I download audio books from the library why can't Isee the files in itunes. All of the chapters do not transfer.

When I download audio books from the library I can't find them in my itunes files.  All of the chapters do not transfer to my itouch even though they all were downloaded.

I finally figured it out!  On the book page of itunes I went to preferences and then import settings and changed the settings from aac to mp3 and when I went back to the page there was my itouch and clicked on it and then books and there were all my books and files! deleted 3 chapters that were greyed out and transfered them again and it worked.  Thank you for your help.

You cannot redownload audiobooks at all.
If you want it on your macbook, tehn put it there.
You can transfer it from your iphone:  File>Transfer Purchases.

  • Playing audio books on the iPad using just Siri (for a blind person)

I'm trying to help an 87 year old friend whose eyesight is rapidly degrading enjoy audio books easily. Lately what we've been doing is downloading books from audible.com. They will get put in this iTunes "books" section. From there he has been able to locate the book icon and tap it to play.
But this is quickly becoming impossible because he can't even see the icon to tap it. And he just can't get the hang of assistive touch features.
He can play music on his iPad by just using the Siri "Play...." voice command. I'm thinking if I can get audio books into his Music library somehow he can do the same thing.
I tried with the Audible app though, and they just end up in the Audible player, which is no use, because the Audible player has no Siri interface because Apple doesn't allow 3rd party apps to use Siri.
If I can sync books from iTunes on his iMac to his iPad, where do they end up? I don't have any audio books myself. Are they in a section in the Music app on his iPad if present?
I'm looking on my own iPad right now and see "Radio, Playlists, Artists, Songs, Albums, Genres, Compilations and Composers."
But I don't see a section for "Audiobooks" like in iTunes on my MacBook Pro.
Are audio books on the iPad played with a different app, which can be used by Siri?
Lets say this is possible, what are the other voice commands he can use in addition to "Play ...". Is there a pause or stop command as well?
I'd like to make this as easy for him as possible.
Thanks for any advice you can give.

If you press and hold the fast forward or rewind button, it will scan forward through the current track. That at least will let you get where you want to be quicker, without having to reconnect to itunes.

  • I have down loaded an audio book from the libraryand I cant play it

cant get an audio book from the "library" to load on Nano

It should be in the Music app - when there are audiobooks on your iPhone you should get an Audiobooks option under the More button at the bottom of the Music app.
Note that audiobooks are currently a one-time only download from the store, so you may want to copy it to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases on iTunes 11) so that you can take a backup of it.

  • If I import audio books into the music section of itunes it lists the books as albums and all the chapters as tracks fine when I sync them to my ipod classic, but not if I import them as audiobooks, any ideas please?

If I import audio books into the music section of itunes it lists the books as albums and all the chapters as tracks fine when I sync them to my ipod classic, but not if I import them as audiobooks and then sync them, any ideas please?

If you import the audiobook as an audiobook to your iTunes Library, it will be listed in the Books section of your Library. You may need to turn on Books in order to see them. If you cannot see the File/Edit... etc. menu, use CTRL B on your keyboard to make that menu bar appear. Then go to Edit/Preferences>Books and put a tick in the box.
But, if the imported audiobook shows up in the Music section of your iTunes Library, highglight the files (in iTunes) and select File/Get Info/Options/Media Kind>Audiobook. These files will now transfer to the Books section of iTunes.
Once on an iPod Classic, look under the Audiobooks menu. Again, you may need to change the settings in the Settings menus, in order to have the Audiobooks option shown on the Main Menu and/or the Music Menu.

The simple answer is if you want to copy an audiobook to the cloud, simply put it in Dropbox or some other online storage service. But what exactly do you want to do with it? Do you just want to store it there or listen to it?

  • Audio books on older nano

Hi. I'm trying to find out if I have an audio book on cd, can I transfer it to my library and then put it on an older model Nano?  Thanks

    Hello Kristy,
Yep, you can.  Locate your Nano's userguide from the list of guides in this link and there you will find instructions on how to do this.
