Audio; can I have 2 running sound tracks?

Hi All-
I have 1/2 a dozen clips in the time line and I have disabled the audio from all (inspector--->Audio---->uncheck Channel Config).
These clips are all Irish dance ("Lord of the Dance" type), the audio on the clips is no good, hence I disabled it. I have 5-6 music mp3's to add as the main audio soundtrack, I'll fade in/out with clips (clips are separate dances). I'm not worried about any synching here.
I also have a lengthy audio clip of just tap dancing on a hardwood stage. I would like to have the music run and at the same time have the tap dancing sound effect play with the music-yet be able to fade the tapping in/out and have separate volume on it (to blend it into the music track).
Not sure how to begin, or if it can be done. I'm thinking possibly using the "Dual Mono" because I think separate channels can be independently adjusted as I'm thinking? Any idea's on doing this, how to, some freebie tutorial anywhere, any workflow sequence etc would be appreciated-
Thanks, Robes

way too complicated thinking   - just add your tracks to the project, and use the ribbons and/ or R_ange tool first, than adjust:

  • How can i slide a sound track one frame at a time in Pre 10

i do a lot of music videos where i record audio separtly from the video and then sync them and i have a lot of trouble getting them in sync, does anyone have any good tricks to do this? also, can i move said sound track one frame at a time in either direction to help get these tracks to sync up?
    Thanks

If you zoom to the max, and watch that little TimeCode box (it pops up, when you begin dragging), just look at the last two digits, as those are the Frames. Even with my clumsy hands and fingers, I can nail the displacement to Frame-accurate standards.
Now, some other NLE's go a step further, in that when the Clip is Selected, one can nudge it along, with modifier keys and the Left-Right Cursor keys. I do not think that has been added to PrE 10, but would be a great Feature Request.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
[Edit] Well shut my mouth! After you Select the Clip (unlinking with Alt+click, if muxed), just hold down the Alt key, while hitting the Left-Rigt Cursor keys!!!! Forget that Feature Request.

  • Keynote- Can you add multiple sound tracks to one presentation

Can multiple sound tracks be added to the same presentation? For instance, can I add one sound track to play for slides 1-20 and a second, different sound track to play starting at slide 23 thru 36?

    Jonathan:
You can create a single Story from each track and set the End Jump for each Story to the next one. Set the End Jump of the last Story to your menu and assign the first one to your PLAY ALL button.
    Give it a try !

  • My video is crap but I love the sound. Can I save the sound track of a movie as an mp3?

My video is crap but I love the sound. How Can I save the sound track of a movie as an mp3?

    Yes, you can do this.
In iMovie, use SHARE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME...
In the dialog box, choose "Sound to AIFF".
This will create a sound only version of your movie in the AIFF codec.
You can drag this AIFF file into iTunes and convert it to AAC or MP3.
In iTunes, go to iTunes/Preferences. In the General Tab, click the Import Settings button. Remember how it is currently set, (because you may want to change it back.) Choose IMPORT USING: MP3 Encoder.
Now, right-click on the music track in iTunes and select "Create MP3 Version".

  • How many Management agents can you have running simultaneously on a host?

    Hi all,
I've scoured the Oracle documentation and not been able to find a definitive answer to this question, how many Oracle management agents can you have on a single managed host target? Can you for example run an 11g agent and a 12c agent simultaneously (whilst migrating to 12c without upgrading the present OEM instance) If so can you run two 12c agents, each pointing to a different OMS? I’ve seen examples of an agent for each database instance on a host managed target, so a host with three Oracle database instances has three Oracle Management agents all pointing to the same OMS with each agent is monitoring just one of the database instances. There must be resource considerations here for memory, cpu and network traffic etc? I’ve always understood it to be one Oracle Management Agent per managed host
    Thanks

I don't think there's any data on impact or performance since it's not a recommended configuration. If you have host/configuration monitoring enabled on both agents, they will be running the same queries/scripts against the host/inventory, etc. so they will likely have contention at some point. If you monitor the same databases, you will definitely see contention and increased overhead as there will be multiple agents running the same queries. You might also see problems w/ any of the server generated alerts (tablespace, etc) if you change thresholds as the agents send that to the database, and then the database will be out of sync with the other agents.
What exactly is the goal for having multiple agents? Is it short term or long term?

  • How can I have several arrange tracks for one instrument mute independently

hi... if i create several arrange tracks with the 'New with same channel strip/instrument' command i cant mute them in the arrange window independently it seems ? For example i want 10 arrange tracks all playing the same Battery Kit/instance but be able to mute them independently through automation for example. For the moment when i mute one of the tracks the whole instrument gets muted.
i'm a bit confused since i'm new to logic from cubase ... can i not just use 'midi tracks and parts' like in cubase ?

My first though was to suggest that you check Preferences>Audio>General, and make sure "Track Mute/Solo" is set to "CPU Saving (Slow response). This will allow you to mute and solo each track copy individually.
However, this will not help you in this situation, because the mute button will be muting the actual channel strip, like a mixer, so you will always be muting the whole thing.
It's easiest to simply make cuts right on the MIDI regions, and mute the regions themselves, in the spots of the song you want them muted. Either that, or mute the MIDI on/off events themselves, within the Piano Roll window.

  • How can I use the sound track from a movie as background in the menu

I have created a short movie in IMovie that I want to use in the IDVD menu and also want to use the soundtrack from that movie as the background for that menu.  Thus far, I have not found a way to make that happen.

Extract the audio from the movie with either Quicktime Pro,  iMovie or a 3rd party audio editor like Amadeus Pro and use it as the menu's audio.

Photoshop does not have the ability to analyse audio files, are you sure you know how you did this in the past? You must do that in an audio editor, like, oh, Soundtrack. You'd use Grab to copy the window and paste that into Photoshop. If you want the waveform display to move in sync with an audio file, you ust export the waveform as a movie file and that is a bit more complicated.

  • Can I have multiple sound outs (USB

So, I want to able to have sound playing through my speakers through the 3.5mm headphone jack, and then also have another speaker connected to a USB port, all at the same time. Is this possible?

If you open Disk Management, you'll see Disk 0 with more than one partition. If you want to rebuild a HD back the same you'll want all or at least two of the partitions. You'll notice the Active Boot partition is not C the Windows drive but a partition called System_Drv (at least in my system). Those two will be mandatory when you image a new drive. Otherwide you'll have some fixing with external tools to get it booting.

  • How can I stop sound track from being divided when adding clips to other tracks in PrE12?

    The situation:
I have a project with several minutes of video clips on the timeline (expert view) in "Video 1/Audio 1."  There is also music on the sound track (below the empty "Narration" track).
Any time I make an edit to the Video 1 track, PRE cuts the Sound Track.  (Note that this is not the Audio 1 track, it's the sound track which is two tracks away.)  If I insert a clip, the Sound Track is cut and left with a gap.  Same if I do a FreezeFrame insert.  This is bad enough (make ten insertions, have the Sound Track chopped into ten separate pieces), but it gets worse: when I try to slide the Sound Track pieces back together, the Video 1 clips will be moved around.
This appears to be a major bug but I'm hoping there is a simple way to deal with it.
Here's what the Manual (p.71) has to say about it (not much).
"When you insert a clip into the Expert view timeline, adjacent clips on all tracks shift to accommodate the new clip. By shifting all clips together, the audio and video of the existing clips remain in sync."
    * The question here is, adjacent to what?  The Sound Track is a continuous music clip of many minutes; it is alone on the Track, and there is nothing on the track above it (Narration track).  So it's not adjacent to anything, and yet it is being chopped up.
    The Manual continues:
"Sometimes, you don’t want all clips to shift with each insertion. For example, when you add background music that superimposes the entire movie, you don’t want clips to shift."
*They got that right, but they don't say anything about how to prevent it.
This next makes no sense at all:
"To shift specific clips togather, press the Alt key as you insert.  At a time, you can shift specific clips simultaneously on a maximum of two tracks.  These include the track receiving the insertion and the track containing the linked audio or video (if any). The affected tracks shift together, remaining aligned. The clips on other tracks are unaffected."
*There is no mention of how to specify what clips would be shifted, or not.
I'm not dealing with linked clips.  And they tell me how to shift clips (sort of) but nothing about how to stop clips from being cut up and shifted.  This all makes it very hard to create a coordinated product.
Any suggestions or solutions will be much appreciated.

    Thanks, ATR,
I wll try this--but I still am unclear on how to do what the Manual says is possible: select clips on another track that WILL be moved, if I so desire, so as to remain synched to the main Video track.
    UPDATE:
In the case of inserting Freeze Frame, I just tried both Ctrl method and Alt method, and neither worked.
    1. Put Video on Vid1 track
    2. Put Music on Sound Track
    3. Ran a few seconds of Vid
    4. Stopped Vid, selected Freeze Frame
    5. Held down Ctrl key while clicking "Insert in Movie"  also tried with holding down Alt key.
Result: a 3 second still was inserted int the Vid1 track.  A corresponding gap was created in the Sound Track.
    6. Slid the final part of the Sound Track to the left along the timeline to re-connect it to the next segment created by the above process.
Result: the video following the final Freeze Frame was pushed to the right end of  Video1 track.
    7. Slid the Sound Track all the way to the left.
Result: the entire Video 1 Track contents were pushed to the right and divided in pieces.
I documented each step with screen shots which I can send if you want them and if I can figure out how to do it.
    UPDATE #2
In the case of inserting a video clip to the Timeline, I just tried both Ctrl method and Alt method, and neither worked.
    1. Locate video in Project Assets
2a. R click video in Project Assets (pull-down menu appears), hold down Ctrl, click Insert to Timeline.
Result: Vid clip is inserted on Video 1 track, Sound Track is separated with a corresponding gap.
2b.  R click video in Project Assets (pull-down menu appears), push Alt
Result: pull-down menu disappears as soon as Alt is pushed down.
I can stil drag the Vid clip but it's one more manual step...I love shortcuts!!

  • Slide show - audio Narration & Sound Track

IN PE7 is there a way to adjust the volume of the audio narration and the background sound track . If I add an audio narration to the slides and add a music Sound track to the show - The music steps on the narration and it can not be heard.

    Robert,
In the PSE 7 slide show editor you could decrease the volume of the music soundtrack for its entire duration - but that may make the volume of the music too low when there is no narration. You can also add multiple music files to a slide show, but creating separate pieces (files) from a music sound track would require additional software to edit the music files and then difficult precise placement of the pieces of music around the narration. In my opinion, neither is really a good answer.
What format do you plan to use for the Output command of your completed slide show?
Do you also have Premiere Elements 7? If no, do you have other video editing/creation software on your PC?

  • Pops Between Sound Tracks

I have two sound tracks close together with only a fraction of a second between them, but there is nothing that I can do to get rid of a fairly loud pop when the play head hits that spot. I've overlapped them and put them on different layers, but it does not help.

    hi,
if you double click the bit of audio that is offending in the sequence, it loads in the clip window. From here you will see an audio waveform. You should be able to see the pop as a large spike at the start. You could try trimming the audio to just past this pop. This may solve the problem.
and / or you can add a dissolve at the front. Control click on the edge of the segment in the sequence and choose 'Add Transitional Crossfade'. It will add a 24 frame dissolve across the segement. Now control click again and choose duration, set it to 1 or 2 frames. Now control click again and set the Transition Alignment to Start On Edit.
or, just for completeness, you could key frame the volume of the clip, again by double clicking it and setting the volume to zero at the start of the pop and up to the desired level after it.
    Hope this helps

    Thanks for the follow up.
Missing in this equation were the version of Premiere Elements that you were using and the computer operating system on which it was running. But...
The deed is done. But.....Until now and after you went ahead and moved to version 12, we now learn what version of Premiere Elements you were using. We still do not know the computer operating system involved.
You just said Premiere Elements 10. Premiere Elements 10 is hit by a serious known display issue if the computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card/graphics card. In this issue, the only remedy is to roll back the driver version to about May 2013. The description of the problem and how to do the roll back are described in one of the Announcements at the top of this forum. What video card/graphics card does your computer use?
On another front, Adobe will be releasing a new version of Premiere Elements any day now. No one but Adobe knows the feature set for the new version. That type of information is announced at the moment of release of the new version.
So the remedy to the problem that you presented in this thread could have been...
    1. Rolling back the NVIDIA GeForce driver version to about May 2013 if possible (Windows 8 or 8.1 64 bit, may not be possible)
    2. Move to another version of Premiere Elements (which you did)
I offer the above for consideration so that you can review your decisions. We are pleased to learn that Premiere Elements 12/12.1 works for you.
Please do not hesitate to ask questions and ask for clarifications, but remember that the answers are in the details.
    Best wishes,
    ATR
