Audio CD Burning

Can someone help me with burning a disc. I can't believe how much of a pain this is to do. With windows media player I simply place the files in the burn list and it converts with mp3 to audio cd and burns it but with mac it can't seem to perform such a simple operation, why?

*I simply place the files in the burn list and it converts with mp3 to audio cd and burns it but with mac it can't seem to perform such a simple operation, why?*
That is substantially the same as iTunes. Create a playlist, drag the songs you want to burn to CD, press the Burn Disc button down in the right hand corner. What part of the process isn't working for you?
If you have updated to iTunes 8, the burning options are no longer a global setting in Preferences>Advanced>Burning (which is where you'll find them if you are using iTunes 7). In iTunes 8 you get the burning options for each individual disc and they don't appear until you insert a blank CD, highlight the playlist you want to burn and press the Burn Disc button. In the settings box choose Audio CD.

  • How to solve Audition CS6 error "The amount of audio to burn will not fit on the CD........."?

I have a brand new PC that is MORE than adequate. I have once succeeded in burning a CD after learning all about time tracks and merging them. (made a few with only ONE track)
    Two things:
    1) I find that I must add a CD marker at the end of the WAV because Audition CS6 erases whatever is the last CD marker I've made. Very frustrating but now I know I have to do this but I have no idea WHY!!
    2) Right now I have a WAV that is just over 1 hour and 3 minutes with a total of 637.74MB of info. When I try to export/burn a CD, I get an error message stating "The amount of audio to burn will not fit.......".  I am using TDK 700MB blanks with a Pioneer Blu-ray burner.
    Obviously it will fit.
What am I doing wrong, all of a sudden?

    Hey ryclark,
Thanks for responding. Something else is going on here.....
    Here's what I re-replied to our friend...
    Thanks for the response.
When I built this computer last Nov/Dec, it was built with the second
fastest Intel 7i, quad-core chipset on an 64-bit ASUS motherboard. It's  running
Win 7 Pro. It has a 500GB SSD "C" drive with another 14 TB of true hard
drive space. It is set up with 64 bit. I had been using Audition CS3 for  many
years and even go back to it's origin: Cool Edit and Cool Edit Pro. My
learning curve was minimal, sans the CD burning, which I used other software
for  which is now antiquated, so I need Audition for this. Between this and
IZotope 3 I've repaired and improved many a recording. All-in-all extremely
    useful software.
As for the idea "to burn it anyway", well the error message comes up and
that's it - if I "X" out of that message and try to burn again the message
comes  back  - so Audition will not let me. It is convinced that this file is
longer than it really is, but only when I add track  marks to it!
    There are only 11 tracks.
I was able to burn a CD of this same file but without all the track marks,
so the same exact file length/size will burn, only as the one track.
I've also succeeded in burning other WAV's , both greater and smaller, with
and without multiple track marks, without issue. Of course all with less
    than the CD's max. capacity.
This problem seems to be with this one file. I've even  re-made/re-recorded
the file from scratch with no change. There's something else  going on here
that I can't put my finger on. (I am "recording" LP's and making  personal
    CDs of them)
Also, only from time to time, I have another error after burning a CD that
states it could not verify the CD. For this I assume it is the blank rather
than AA? The first might burn without issue and with the second burn I
get the error. It is near the end of a stack of blanks, so.....
As for the need to "mark the end" of the file makes a lot of sense but of
all the other CD track-marking software I've used, none needed one to do
this,  but this IS Adobe after all.
You'd think there might be a smidge of intuitiveness with Adobe, but maybe
    not.

  • Gaps in audio when burning on dvds and cd

When I burn a dvd and add audio, I have gaps in the playback on the audio only.

    Hello BCRC,
What make / model computer are you using?
    What operating system?
What program are you using to burn the DVD's and CDs?
By gaps are you meaning that there is a gap from one track to the next and you are looking to burn gapless discs, or are you referring to the audio actually skipping parts of the audio when burning?

Has anyone come across what error code 4900 refers to? I have searched throughout the forum, but found no specific answer. This error occurs every time I try to burn a disc using a CD-R. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Prior to the iTunes 7.0 update I had no problems burning discs from iTunes. Now, after the update I can begin burning, seem to burn a few tracks, before the whole system crashes causing a reboot. The drivers are up to date, and the drive is functioning correctly. Here is the diagnostics report:

I guess I should also ask, is anyone else having their system crash after part way through burning an audio disc? And better yet, has anyone had this problem and then been able to fix it? Or, does anyone know how to resolve this if it can be resolved with the current 7.0 build.

  • HELP! I need audio CD burning software that features "gain" control...

    ...that ISN'T Roxio Toast!
(I realise that this is not a question about iTunes specifically, but I wasn't sure where else to post this.)
I burn a lot of compilation CDs for the car, and for years I used Roxio's Jam 2.5 and 2.6 because they allowed me to adjust the gain (volume) of each track for consistent volume overall. The software was light on features but it worked reliably and predictably. (Supposedly Jam 2.6 works with OS X 10.6.x, but I never could get it to launch.)
I reluctantly purchased Toast Titanium (and have updated to 11.1), and while it technically works, the app is more than a little clunky, frustrating and half-baked. For example, the latest update appears to have fixed the "sticky" gain windows that would open far longer than needed, but now the software cannot navigate through ANY of my folders or hard drives after typing Command-O to open an existing Toast file. Pathetic! (Do they not test their own product at all?!)
Can anyone recommend any other software that was designed specifically for burning audio CDs that features at least gain and crossfade controls? I'd love nothing more than to ditch Roxio products once and for all!
    Thanks in advance!!

I would recommend at least downloading the trial version of Sound Studio and trying it out. I work for Freeverse (the publishers of Sound Studio). I asked around, and there have not been any complaints about the pitch adjuster in the latest version 3.5.5, AFAIK. You can adjust the pitch and tempo independently.
The trial version is fully functional, and is only limited by the number of times you can launch the program (10 times).

If you do try it out, I'd love to hear what you think of it.

  • No audio on burned DVD

I have used I-movie 6.0.3 to create a movie including added an audio track brought in from Itunes, so MP3 files. I then brought it to I-DVD 6.0.4 to burn and saved as a disc image to check it. The disc image looks and sounds correct, but when I burn it to a disc and try to play on either a DVD player or on a computer there is no sound.
Any ideas on what to do?

    Hi
Any idea ? - Yes, iTunes Copyright mechanism.
In iTunes - copy out the needed audio as an Audio CD .aiff
    Now Use this in iMovie.
The re-edited movie will now work with iDVD and even better so if You DON'T use the
Share/Export to iDVD function in iMovie.
    • Just close iMovie
    • Open iDVD
    • Import Your movie project (Icon with a Star on it)
∆ Now iDVD will do the rendering and so much better.
    Save as a DiskImage
    Test this with Apple DVD-player
Burn it with Apple Disk Util tool (or rather if You bought it : Roxio Toast™) AND AT x1 speed.
This is important though it gives far less errors (speed can't be set in iDVD 6 - it reads speed from
    DVD disc)
    I use only Verbatim
    I use DVD-R (no +R or +/-RW)

  • No Audio upon burning dvd-R on 2.8 Ghz imac running 10.5.5 and idvd 7.0.2

I am able to import clips into idvd that have been declared shared in imovie. I am able to create a menu and have multiple video clips on the screen. The clips even play fine (with audio) when previewed.
However once I burn to a dvd-R and play back on any dvd player I get NO SOUND! The only sound I was able to get was the sound of one of those themes in Version 7.0 that come with built in music.
The actual video clip however has NO AUDIO. What is going on??? I tried a new idvd project etc but still no luck.
    Any help, much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Vidur Sood

    Hi
    As above.
But if You want to squees in eg 3hour on a standard 4.7Gb DVD disk.
One way is to use Roxio Toast™ and the function put in the movie anyhow.
This will do the work but to a rather reduced quality.
There are other programs that can do this too but Toast™ does it as good as
one can anticipate and to a fair price.
Alt. DVD Studio Pro in FinalCutStudio bundle
ForMac Devideon™ but then You'll buy an extra DVD-burner too. (not sold separately
    as I'm aware of)

  • After upgrading to latest version of iTunes audio CD burning issues

    Hi,
I upgraded to the latest version of iTunes and now when I try to burn a playlist as an audio CD it keeps telling me it won't fit on one CD and I have now gotten the playlist down to 1 hour and it is an 80 Min CD and it still won't let me do it. Anyone else having an issue and if so is there a solution?
    Thanks,
    Mike

I've seen this once before and deleting the playlist and recreating it with a different name solved it.
Also... try using disk utility to burn a data CD to make sure that burning generally works. Daft I know, but there you go.

  • Missing Audio When Burning A DVD For Grandma

I've created a short 8 minute video with an audio track on top of it. The 8 minutes consists of a 2 minute video opening created in quicktime. 4 minute slide show imported from iPhoto and 2 minutes of closing credits created in iMovie. The 8 minute soundtrack was created in garage band using several iTunes tracks. (I'M TRYING TO BE ALL APPLE!!)
Everything looks great when I preview in iDVD. However, when I burn the dvd the audio drops out about 3 minutes into the video and then starts up again at the very end (out of synch of course).
I've tried everything I can think of - created an image in iDVD and burned using disc utilities , swapped out the audio tracks, changed the photos...still nothing works.
Any suggestions?? We have a first birthday coming up and we really want to get this to Grandma. Thanks.

    Hi
Can be audio from iTunes or strange file formats eg .mp3 etc.
iTunes - Copy out as an Audio-CD .aiff
Other audio formats - convert to .aiff 48kHz 16-bit
Use this and it most probably works.

  • Foreign audio after burning in iDVD

I am running iMovie with Tiger on eMacs. I have 13 computers in a classroom. Sometimes when I burn in iDVD, the burn is successful, but there is only identical foreign audio over the whole disk. I have four uses set up on each eMac. the foreign audio if from totally different user than the one I am logged into. This plays on both the theme upon loading the disk, and on every movie. Movies play fine in iMovie and when testing in preview in iDVD. Usually I trash preferences and this clears it up. Now, two of my computers are not fixed with this method. I got one to work after trashing and repairing preferences, rebooting, then rebuilding the iDVD project with a totally new project. Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • No audio after burning

Funny how something can screw up even though you've done the same thing like fifty times!
I have an iMovie file that has audio when playing in iMovie.
I have imported into iDVD and the preview plays audio.
I create a disk image of the project and burn it.
When I play back the disc there is audio in the menus but no audio throughout the rest of the project.
    I'm Stumped!!

    Hi
I had the same issue. Look at the issues with 6.0.2...
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=494268&tstart=0
If you had MP3, sound effects, etc in your movie, it will not have audio if you export right into iDVD. Current BIG bug. I solved my issue by exporting from iMovie to Quicktime full quality .dv, then taking that into iDVD. I had audio.

  • Poor audio after burning

    Hi there,
Hope someone can help me with this...
I have made a SD DVD by converting my uncompressed quicktime files through compressor to gain MPEG2 video files and AC3 audio files.
Everything looks and sounds great when I simulate everything, but after burning the audio sounds really clunky. The fades in and out don't work at all and it really doesn't sound good at all.
In the compressor settings I put normalisation off (to -31) so not sure why this is happening, especially as all seems to be working fine when everything is simulated...
Could anyone offer any suggestions to fix?
    Thanks
    Matty

    Take a look here
    http://dvdstepbystep.com/compressor.mov
and in the second half there are settings. Make sure Preprocessing is set to "None" as in the first image below. The other settings usually also help prevent glitches, audio rate (160/192 etc) can change a needed. Also, how were you listening to the audio? Computer? Television? (I have one tv that is bad for audio)

  • Audio CD burn in iTunes not working

Has anyone had this issue? My Superdrive seems to work fine reading and burning DVDs and data CDs, but burning an audio CD leaves nothing but heavy hiss and rumble.
I've tried telling the burn to burn at 4x speed, 8x speed and maximum, no difference; I've used Verbatim CD-R and Maxell CD-R, no difference.
The Superdrive is a Matshita UJ-846. In iTunes prefs, I have Importing set at MP3 encode and lowered the sample rate from 192 kbps to 160 (but that should not affect the burn anyway, correct?).
I've posted this in the appropriate iMac discussion group as well.
    Any suggestions appreciated, and thanks.

Aell, I answered my own problem. I remembered back to the old Macs I have used and thought about one common resolution to problems...for misbehaving apps, delete the preferences file then relaunch to rebuild the file. For Tiger, preferences are plists.
That solved the problem and all is well once again!

  • Unwanted audio in burned final idvd

Have you ever encountered this problem in iMovie/iDVD? I recently finished editing together a wedding for friends. The timeline is a simple sequence of clips with transitions and background music that I easily imported directly from itunes. When editing, THE FIRST THING I DID was to DETACH AUDIO from my clips and delete it because I don't want background noise in the project. I also MUTED ALL AUDIO in the clips. When I play my timeline project in iMovie...it is exactly as I want it. I go to Share it through iDVD and I set up my menu and burn as usual. HOWEVER, when I play back the new DVD, unwanted audio (pulled from the original background sound of the video clip) creeps in AT RANDOM! Some clips are still muted, others are playing the background audio. What the heck? The first thing I did in iMovie was to detach audio and mute all audio from my video clips. The project is perfect in iMovie, why isn't it burning correctly? Any help would be appreciated :-) THANKS

    -Old Toad,
Thank you so much for your reply. I am trying to figure out if I can also do this in Quicktime version 10 because I have a new computer, but I haven't found a property option in this version. When I go to "Show View Options," I can see that there are, indeed, TWO audio tracts present. I need to delete ONE of them. Any suggestions?
Also, since I last posted, I edited/burned a smaller project and I didn't have the same problem "unwanted audio" dvd problem. Therefore, I think that this is a SOFTWARE problem, in which case, I'm just outta luck? Like I said originally, I ALWAYS detach all audio and delete it. The video plays perfectly in iMovie, but burns incorrectly, with the unwanted audio popping in and out, at random.

  • IDVD does not burn camera audio - does burn ITunes audio

I have a Sony DCR-TRV460 video camera. The computer does not see my camera. I used an ADS Pyro A/V Link to get the movie from the camera to the computer. When I preview the movie in IMovie, I get the audio and video from the camera perfectly. When I move the movie to IDVD, I preview everything perfectly. When I burn the DVD I lose the audio from my camera. I have tried exporting the audio and that didn't work either. Any ideas on what I can do?

To add to Sue's post, have you tried the Firewire connection (camcorder to computer via Firewire, nothing in-between)? If the computer doesn't recognize the camcorder doing this, then that is problem 1 that needs solved prior to trying another sequence. Be sure your camcorder is set to 16-bit audio, many are set at 12-bit by default. Once you get the computer to recognize the camcorder, export this sequence back to tape, then re-import from the new tape and try burning that and see what happens.
