Audio CD Disappears

I don't know if this is a problem with my new Leopard installation, iTunes, or something with my (late '04) G5 iMac....
I noticed, when trying to import a newly purchased CD into iTunes this afternoon, that inserting the CD would launch iTunes, which I expected (and is what always happened before).
Next...I'd get a dialog asking me if I wanted to import the songs into iTunes (yep...sure did...), so I clicked 'OK".
The CD immediately disappeared from my desktop, and nothing happened in iTunes.
Ejecting the CD, then reinserting it, made the import process happen normally.
This happened with three CDs....
Not sure, as I said, if this is a Leopard problem or what...

My iMac exhibits the same problem. Basically, when I insert an audio CD everything seems to work fine but after the CDDB lookup iTunes unmounts the disk. I found a work around that works most of the time but it is in no way optimal. It involves using Disk Utility to mount the CD after iTunes has unmounted it.
1. Insert the Audio CD
2. Wait for annoying bug to show its ugly face. In other words, wait for iTunes to unmount the disk you just inserted.
3. Open /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.app
4. Look for you optical device in the list
5. You should see a greyed out disk nested under your optical device
5. Click the greyed out icon. I think it usually just says Audio CD or something like that.
6. Click the "Mount" button. Its located in the toolbar.
7. iTunes should recognize the Audio CD now.

  • Audio intermittently disappears for 2 seconds

Apple TV 3rd edition is directly connected to Samsung Plasma TV with HDMI. Audio intermittently disappears for 2 seconds every 1 - 5 minutes. PC and Cable Decoder is also connected and these have no issues. I have tried changing HDMI input on TV.
It is connected with wire to the network. I have tried resetting to factory default and upgrading to latest version to no avail. Any ideas what can solve this problem?

    Hi everyone,
I have been having the same issue even with the latest updates of Snow Leopard, and it continued after updating to Lion. Non of the latest OS X updates seem to address this issue so far, however, I found a work around using a free piece of software called Remux. It mainly re-codes the Audio format of the video file, allowing qt10 to read it propply.
The good thing about it, is that it does not take more than 2 minutes to re-code a 2 hour movie, unlike many other other converters that take longer time to convert the file.
    Hope this helps.

  • My audio file disappears on ipad after I touched it ?

My audio file disappears on ipad after I touched it ? I used suggested format for audio. I have three audio files on my page, when touched one of them and going to touch another it disappear . What I do wrong? Or it is a bug ?

Yes, I did solve the problem.  I only had one audio on the page though. The audio appeared to work fine, but then it would disappear. I just deleted the audio. Then I retrieved the audio again from iTunes and placed it back into the book.  Then the audio worked fine. I hope you are able to find a solution.

  • Realtek HD Audio driver disappears after installing an ATI Radeon graphics card

My Realtek HD Audio driver disappears (from both the Vista "Sound Manager" and the "Device Manager") and is replaced by an ATI HD Audio driver after installing an ATI  Radeon 5450 graphics card.  I've tried un-installing the ATI Audio driver and re-installing the Realtek Audio driver.  But, upon rebooting, Vista automatically re-installs the ATI Audio driver (and the Realtek Audio driver, which I just re-installed, is no where to be found after rebooting).  I'm using an HP a6110n desktop running Windows Vista.

    Hi:
I bet you were unpleasantly surprised by that!
    The fix is simple:
Go into your system setup (BIOS) using the F10 key.
Find your device configuration menu. In that menu there should be a setting for your onboard audio. It is probably set to Auto.
Change the setting to Enabled. Hit the F10, key there and again when you save your settings and exit.
Now your onboard audio will be back and your HDMI out audio on your graphics card should work too when you need it.
What happened was when you installed the Video card with HDMI out, there is an audio chip on the video card for HDMI. The PC sensing a new sound card, just disabled the onboard sound card because it thought you didn't want to use the onboard card anymore.
Changing the BIOS setting to enabled tells the PC to use the onboard audio card as well as any others you may have installed.

  • When I import my footage, the audio track disappears!

I have footage taken with my Canon vixia hfs11.  Footage looks great.  However, when I import the footage into Premeire Pro CS6, the audio track disappears.  I have used the Media Browser to import and import under file.  Nothing works.  The file is a MTS.  Please help!

As Karsten Schlüter, says MPEG Streamclip is a great way to make sure the video is as compatible as possible. You can also try downloading to multimedia helpers like DivX (in the case of some Xvid/Divx MP4 formats). I have a Flip mino video camera that requires DivX to be installed to play them back. And once I installed it the videos would be editable in iMovie '11. Something to try.

  • Audio Tracks Disappear When Zooming on Timeline

It's very strange, but whenever I zoom in on a certain portion of a timeline I'm working on, audio tracks warp, change, duplicate, or disappear altogether. See below for a video:
Does anyone have any idea as to what this could be? Thanks in advance for all and any help!

It's actually a feature film I've been working on for quite a while – most likely several CC versions back, maybe even from CS6 – sorry I can't remember off the top of my head. Could that be what's causing it? Is there any fix? Or do projects that have been upgraded several time throughout CC update history always have this issue?
Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Urgent help!! In 'export audio to movie' the final option to disable the original audio has disappeared. I am no longer allowed to deselect the audio tracks. Any ideas why Logic has stopped this?

    Greeting all
I'm creating a movie with a new music track and follow the appropriate steps as in the manual:
Choose format options for the bounced audio file, and click OK.
In the dialog that appears, enter a name and target folder for the movie, and click Save.Another dialog opens, allowing you to choose which of the original movie’s audio tracks should be used in the new movie.
Select the audio track that you want to retain in the new movie, and click OK.
The QuickTime movie is exported to the selected folder; it contains all selected audio tracks, plus the part of your project that is encompassed by the start and end points of the QuickTime movie.
However, this final dialog option 'select the audio tracks of movie to keep in new movie' has disappeared!!! For some reason Logic goes straight to bouncing without the offer to remove the original audio. My final movie ends up with both sets of audios. Any ideas please???
    Best
    Juan

It is still there and Logic did not remove it.
Did you do some trouble shooting.
Try to load a different video (with different codec) to see if it is video file related
Try a new (empty) project to see if it is project related
Try to remove Logic preferences (move the original back if this wasn't the problem because the file contains other info you might not want to lose)
    Hope that helps

  • Part of audio clip disappeared

This morning I exported the project and noticed that a major piece of the sound was gone. I opened fcp again and saw that the audio clip was missing. I thought that maybe I accidentally deleted it right before I exported so I began to do "restore project" to find where it disappeared. I kept backing up till I got back to yesterday evening when I was editing the sound. Still no audio clip! Make sense? Last night at 8:45pm I know for a fact I was editing the audio clip, but when I restore the project to that time, the clip is still missing. How is that possible? Sounds kinda like a glitch. I had to restore all the way back to yesterday morning, which was before I had done any edits on the audio clip.
What in the world? Anybody hear of such a thing?

No. It wasn't marked as "offline". it was just gone. the clip shows up in the finder, just not on the timeline. so i could just replace it, but it was a long clip w/ lots of edits...if for nothing more, i'd just like to figure out how this can happen. and how to keep it from happening again.

  • Built-In Audio Devices disappeared

    Greetings everyone,
I got a big audio problem.
The Built-In Audio Out and Inputs of my iMac (2011) disappeared in system preferences and i noticed the coreaudio process has high CPU usage all the time. Even force quitting isnt helping, as it restarts immediatly.
Furthermore my computer is hanging on shutdown:
If it's entering sleep mode, the display goes black but fans and HDD are still spinning, but I cannot do anything else and I have to do a hard reset. The same happens when i'm restarting or shutting down. It just won't shut off completely (I guess because of that hanging process)
I booted another OS X installation and everything worked fine, so there's clearly an error somewhere in my current OS X installation. But restoring from a Time Machine backup didnt help.
Are there any files/caches I have to move to trash or anything else to fix this problem without having to reinstall OS X once again?
    Thanks.

  • Audio CD disappears after confirming impoty into iTunes

    Setup:
    Hardware: New Macbook Pro 15"
Software: Preinstalled software no modifications or additions solely upgrades.
When I try to import a CD into iTunes the following occurs:
1 The CD is displayed on the Desktop as Audio CD.
2 iTunes queries Gracenote and downloads the track details which flash up in iTunes.
3 The Audio CD icon disappears from the desktop and cannot be seen as mounted in either Finder or iTunes.
4 I press the eject button, eject the CD, push the CD back into the computer and the second time the Audio CD icon remains and the tracks can be imported. This is extremely easy to reproduce as it happens every time.
I am new to Apple and Mac OS X but this appears to be a possible bug. I am a systems developer on Linux, Unix, Windows .... but I am not familiar with the OS X API's or kernel. It appears that the automounting of the CD is not working.
I looked at the system.log in /var/log and kept seeing the following call fail.
    /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes(1959) StatusMonitor::volumesChangedCallBack returned -47
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Deb,
Just to clarify the "Superdrive" thing:
All optical drives that can burn to DVD, installed as original equipment in Macs, are called "Superdrives".
The name covers a multitude of different drives installed over the years. Many of them, in fact, aren't all that "super". They often have downtuned firmware installed by Apple that actually reduces their capabilities by limiting burn speeds or compatible media types etc. Most have actually been either Matshita (ie Panasonic) or Optiarc (Sony NEC) or , less frequently, Pioneer drives in recent times.
Your Matshita UJ-845 is a "superdrive", as is the Matshita UJ-857E in the MBP I'm typing this on , too.
Apple installed drives which can read DVD's , but only burn to CD-R, are called "combo" drives. Again they can be from various manufacturers and have come as a vast array of models, speeds, etc over the years.
    Cheers

  • My audio has disappeared from my iMovie

I recently created an iMovie on my MacBook Pro. I uploaded it to the Theater and shared it with my friends via email. But when I tried to watch the video, the audio disappeared, except in the beginning when it said "______ Studios". But after that the whole iMovie was muted. HELP!

Is this a conflict with the new iMovie
I don't know. iMovie 6.0.4 does not change iMovie 6.0.3 except to 'make it work better with Leopard'.
I don't have Leopard, but my previous iMovie 6.0.3 projects open fine in iMovie 6.0.4.
As for iMovie HD 5, that apparently does sit happily with Leopard. I am not sure if iMovie 5 projects transferred to iMovie 6, but that could be one cause of your problem.
Second suspect: check in the Audio Midi Setup application (it is in your Utilities folder in your Applications folder) that audio input and output is set to 41000 Hz and 2ch-16bit.

  • Level Meters on "Record Audio" have disappeared

I'm using 10.0.8 with OS 10.8.3 and yesterday connected a Blue Microphone Yeti as the Sound Input Device. When clicking Window>Record Audio, the window to select the Destination, Input Device, Gain and so on appears but the level meters at the top of the window are unresponsive. That is, the sound level scale is present but no green bars show input level. I can still record a voice-over fine, the clips appear in the timeline and the sound meters on playback display properly but yesterday the "Record Audio" meters worked and today they're gone. Any ideas on what I could have done to make them disappear?

So it doesn't sound like it's a hardware or drivers problem.
I updated to 10.0.8 and I cannot find a way to reproduce this. (But I'm not running 10.8.)
Try the trashing your preferences with Preference Manager.
    Good luck.

  • Audio mysteriously disappeared, help?

I'm new to Adobe Premiere Elements 9.  I have a file that I imported.  In QuickTime 7 Pro I had pieced together video/audio clips, but then I wanted to make a movie for a gift so I bought PRE 9.  Anyway, in PRE I clipped each snippet of video/audio so I could add transitions between them.  Now, in the Timeline window, I can see both the audio and video pieces, but when I play it, only the video plays - no audio.  What did I do??  I've check all the volume controls to make sure they are not muted and the volume is at a level I could hear.  I checked the connections and am able to play/hear music on you tube.  Thanks for your help.

Looking back up to Reply # 7, it appears that the Frame Size is not that of AVCHD-Lite, which would be 1440 x 720, IIRC.
Back to your "flatline" Waveform Display, it appears that your edited Clips have become unlinked from both the CFA and PEK files.
The CFA files are the Conformed Audio files, created when one Imports a Clip with Audio into a Project. This Conforming creates a 32-bit floating-point WAV file for editing. The process also creates the PEK files, which allow PrE to display the Waveform. Those two files will be created in the Media Cache folder inside what PrE refers to as the Scratch Disks, and located where the user directs the program to place them. After they have been created, they are then linked to their respective original Clips, in the PREL (Project) file.
Usually, if those links get broken, PrE will just regenerate the CFA and PEK files, but that is not happening to you, and you are also not getting any error messages, asking for file locations, so something is happening.
Unfortunately, you are going to have to help me a bit to try this next step, if we can. I do not have PrE 9, so do not know if it has added a little feature from PrPro. You will have to poke around a bit, or maybe others will jump in and tell us that the feature has NOT been added to PrE 9. In PrPro, one can go to the Project Panel, Right-click on a Clip, and then choose to "Offline Media." There, a dialog box pops up, asking if the user wants to "Unlink the Media, or Unlink and Remove from the Hard Drive." In our case, we would ONLY want to Unlink in the Project. Again, in PrPro, one would then repeat the Right-click, and choose "Link Media," reestablishing the link. This would cause the program to regenerate new CFA and PEK files, and there would be a little progress bar at the lower-right of the program's GUI. One would not touch the computer, until that progress bar disappears. What I just do not know, and cannot test, is whether PrE 9 has added that Offline Media feature. [Editing Offline is something more often done in a pro environment.]
There is another similar feature in PrPro, called Match Frame. It does something similar to the Offline Media. I feel very certain, that PrE (no version) has Match Frame, so we would most probably just be wasting our time, looking for it.
For some more background on Conforming and the PEK file generation, see this ARTICLE.
Good luck, and let me know about the Offline Media in PrE 9. There is a "manual way" to do it, but if the feature has been added, it solves a lot of potential issues and saves some time.

  • HP Pavilion notebook - audio keeps disappearing a few minutes after starting pc

Hello everyone. This is my first post in this forum.
Since about a month, I've been having an annoying problem with my notebook's audio. Quite often, when I turn on my pc, my audio disappears after a couple of minutes. Sometimes there's no sound right from the start. The mute button stops working, because normally there's an orange light when you turn off the pc sound, well that doesn't happen anymore. Windows Media Player can only play such formats as mp4, avi etc with no sound in the background. However, it can't open mp3 files at all (error message shows up). Videos on websites such as youtube stop playing after a few seconds (although the buffer is still running, and of course there is no sound).
So basically, there's no type of audio coming from the speaker (like error sound, message sound, command sounds etc...)
I tried connecting headphones and external speakers, but no luck.  I updated my audio driver, but it didn't help.
Furthermore, when I launch audio test from Control Panel, an error message shows up which says "Device currently used by another application. Please close all the applications that are using the device, and retry."
My notebook is quite new. It's an "HP Pavilion 15 - e070sl"
The whole thing is driving my crazy. It's really frustrating. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
