Audio CD's won't play in Car

I've been burning a few CD's through itunes- after read errors I finally get it to work but it still won't play in my cars CD player. What can I do? Do I need a new car radio?

To make audio CDs that work in most stereo systems, use CD-R discs. CD-RW discs usually work only in computers.
Also make sure your burn settings are set for audio CD, not mp3 CD (unless you know your car CD player can play an mp3 CD) or data CD.

back to walmart I go. I did burn on a other kind, but it won't read in the car, but I didn't make sure the preference said music cd. now it does. why doesn't this have to be so complicated?
maybe it's the burner that I down loaded: it says macintosh hd. Maybe it only burns to a higher hd quality and won't play in the car? I don't know
expensive; waste of money, but I can't rewwrite over these; i don't know how to do that?

  • When leave I nano 4th gen connected to either of my cars it no longer restarts playing when car is restarted. Instead it shows 'no entry' in the song title on the car audio display and won't play until disconnected and reconnected.

Nano has worked fine for a couple of years being left connected to either one of our cars. However, every time car is restarted it won't play without being disconnected and reconnected. I have done a full restore.
Current cars are Range Rover Sport 2011 and Jaguar XK 2011.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
    Thanks,

I had a similar problem. Try resetting and erasing the phone and restoring from a known good backup.

After entering PN, click Next ,then choose Software & Drivers. On the next page use the dropdown to select your OS (probably Windows 7 64bit). A list will populate with drivers. Download & Save the latest Audio driver.

  • Audio "sub-clips" won't play in source monitor, but will play when cut into a sequence.

I'm cutting an "audio only" project in Premiere and I came across a strange problem while making sub-clips. The first 6 sub clips made from the same master audio clip were normal, but then something changed, and the rest of them won't play any sound while in the "Source" window, even though while in the window the sub-clip displays a waveform.
Once edited into a sequence they play normally, but not being able to listen to the sub clips in the source monitor is annoying, and louses up my whole editing routine for this kind of project.
Any ideas as to why this is happening, or what I might do to fix it?

    Number of issues here:
    1. Your system does not meet minimum requirements.
    2. Your CPU, disks, memory are not enough for anything other than DV.
    3. What video camera was used with what codec on what OS with which version of PR. etc.

  • Burned CD won't play in car player

I know similar questions to this have been asked, but I have not found a solution that works for me yet. I am burning a CD-R with iTunes, but it will not play in my car player. I have tried burning at different speeds. I have tried 3 different media types (Verbatim, Memorex, generic). None of them worked. I checked my iTunes settings to make sure I am burning an audio CD, and not an MP3 or data CD. I've probably burned 15 CDs to no avail.
I am burning them on a Sony drive. The CDs play fine in my computer. Just not in my car.
My car player is an older player (1996 factory Delco), but it has no problems playing normal CDs. I get an "E20" error message if that makes any difference.
Is it just a matter of trying more media types? Anybody have a media type that they got to work in an older Delco CD player? Any other suggestions? Thanks.

I solved my problem. I can't guarantee this will work for anybody else having this same issue, but it worked for me. Since my player is 10 years old, I thought maybe the problem was the newer size of CD-Rs. So I bought some of the older, smaller size CD-Rs (650 MB versus the newer 700 MB). Now I can't be sure that was the total reason it worked, but it now works with these new CD-Rs. They are also Verbatim brand, which I also tried unsuccesfully with the 700 MB size. These Verbatims are not only 650 MB, but also a light blue tint on the bottom, which may also have made a difference. I don't know. I couldn't find any of these older, smaller CD-Rs at any local store. I found them on Amazon and ordered them there. These are the ones I ordered if you are interested.

Again, I can't guarantee these will work for you. There are probably many reasons why iTunes burned CDs won't work in some players.

  • Ipod Nano won't play in car...

Our car has an ipod USB but when connected, it says no music on my Nano.  Does anyone know how to get it to play the songs off it?

Are you sure the car installation is compatible with the Nano you have? Some older installations won't work with new iPods.

  • CDs I burn won't play on car player

I have no problems burning audio CDs with itunes. The CDs play great on every CD player EXCEPT the on in my car, which is where I really want to use them. I've burnt MP3 files to audio CDs using other software and they play just fine in my car, just not the CDs I create with itunes. Any suggestions? And trading cars is not an acceptable suggestion! Thanks.

Dunno what the issue is, but I've been having the same problem for a while.  Disks I burn on my arch box actually cause some settop players to hardlock.  ISOs I created a few months ago burn fine, but newly created ones, even of the same media, do not.  All of them play fine on any computer I throw them in - linux, Mac, or windows.

  • Burned CDs won't play my car, but did when I had a PC

Why am I having this problem and how do I fix it? I've tried increasing and decreasing the CD burning speeds in iTunes. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

You've hit on one of the possible issues and since changing the speed isn't working, I have to ask - and don't be insulted - you are burning a music disk and not an MP3 disk, right? Does the CD play on your Mac and show up as an audio CD? If so but not in the car I'd suspect the media - cheap media is often not reflective enough for car CD players.

  • G5 cd's won't play in car

I can burn audio files fine in itunes (or any other app) on my g4 (less than 1 ghz processor)..but when I try to burn audio cd's on my g5 (using memorex printable cd-r media) it will play fine on my mac but not in the car (unless I skip over the first track while playing, and start from track 2)....any help please...I think it might just be the disk (memorex printable cd-r 32x) I

Using my new G5 I have the same problem, which I did not know using my old G4 with an external LaCie burner. The CD-Changer in my car is not able to read audio-cds, also my cd-player in my home hifi-system. The only way to play these audio-cds is (strange...) to put them directly in the main tuner of my car (usually used for the navigation cd), not using the Changer.
Maybe the problem really depends on the quality of the CD-Rs. I have used CD-Rs from Sony (it´s a brand, I think?) and will try Verbatim.

  • ITunes MP3 discs won't play in car MP3 stereo

    Hi there...
I burned some MP3 discs, in MP3 disc format, on iTunes that I play on my car MP3 stereo player, and the car MP3 player won't recognize the disc or play just one or two songs on the disc. I'm burning them on CD-Rs. Furthermore, my old MP3 discs I burned on iTunes 3 works FINE on my car stereo, it's just discs burned with the recent versions. Does iTunes convert MP3s in a different way now? Any ideas as to what I can do?
Also, mp3s I create on itunes are not recognized properly on my Motorola cell phone as mp3s... they call them "QP3"s; mp3s converted on a PC are still recognized as iTunes. Any ideas as to why that's happening? Whew, that's a lot. Hope someone can help and thanks for your time...

twangus, your problem could be (let me stress that word could) the way iTunes is burning the disc and your car CD player doesn't like it.
iTunes burns dual platform MP3 CDs: ISO 9660 (for Windows) and HFS+ Extended (for Mac OS X). It could be that your player doesn't like these discs. To test this you should burn your MP3 CD with third-party burning software that allows you to specify what format to burn the disc in. Either exclusively ISO 9660 or HFS+ Extended.
Two burning apps that will let you do this on a trial basis are Dragon Burn and Disc Blaze. Roxio's Toast will also allow you to choose the target platform for the disc but it has no trial version.
Try one of these apps and let us know your results.

  • OptiDisc cleaner won't run in iMac, CDs won't play in car

I was having problems with car CD player recognizing new iTunes burned CDs (which it's read in the past). Looking through the boards, I think I have two solutions:
    1. I can solve that by slowing down the burn speed (will try later)
    2. I need to clean the drive, so I bought a DVD/CD cleaner, the Memorex OptiDisc.
I loaded it in my PowerBook and iTunes read it easily, seemed to run the cleaning cycle just fine. But my iMac will not recognize the cleaning disc, just spits it out. I have read from others that the disc is recognizable, just looking for feedback or confirmation one way or another. TIA.

Ha, 10th time the charm. OptiDisc loaded and cleaned iMac. Slowed CD burn speed down to 4x, and disc now plays in the car. Hope this helps anyone with similar issues.

  • Burned cd's won't play in car or home, using sony cd-r or memorex cd-r 52x

The cd's i burn with itunes on my G5 10.5.8, and my macbook 10.6.8 will not play on my home stero or in my car.
I have tried two types of CD's.  Does anyone know what the problem is?  the disks burned on my much older laptop were fine.
    Thanks, Bonnie

Hi, That's what I tried at first and the burning part wasn't there.  However I figured it out.
The very first window that shows up after putting the CD in is a drop down window that I didn't know about.
So... choose "open in itunes"-then make a playlist, and burn!  It worked in both my player and the car!!!!
I've used a hugh stack of CD's trying different things...  but at last I think I got it.  It looks different on
    my newer computers.
Thanks so much for answering my questions.

  • Audio in Menu won't play

I have a 30 second intro (menu) and have tried to add a 30 sec. clipped audio (properly parked in iTunes) - it looks fine; it plays when I have the media pane open and hit the arrow; but there is total silence when I run through the theme menu.
Do I need to trash the .plist? Will that have an effect on my project?

After trashing the preference file and trying to additional steps, it absolutely refused to cooperate. So, I trashed the entire project and started over - this time it worked.

  • Playing Imported Audio Books - tracks won't play in order - why?

I import a lot of Audio Book CDs into my iPod Touch for convenience.
The problem is that although the tracks import in order, are correctly named and play in order from iTunes on the PC they almost never play in order on my IPod Touch, Ipod Classic or iPhone.
The Ipod just seems to shuffle playing order. I have disabled shuffle. The iPod is not automatically shuffling due to shaking.
How do I get the tracks to play in the correct orderr.

Here are some hints and guidelines for labeling and organizing audiobooks in iTunes.
Click on the first file of the audiobook imported files list. Press and hold down the “Shift” key while doing so. While you continue to hold this key down, press the down arrow on your keyboard repeatedly until all of the files (chapters) for the first audiobook are selected. At the last file of the first audiobook, click your left mouse button once. You will see all the files from the first to last file highlighted.
Go back into the “File” menu on iTunes and click on “Get Info.” This will bring up a menu of settings you can apply to the highlighted files. Click on the “Options” tab in the settings menu that appears. Make sure the media type is selected as “audiobook.” Next to “Remember position” the option of “Yes” should be indicated.
Next you’ll want to properly label the audiobook audio files. Click on the “Info” tab and fill out relevant information you want to include on the filenames for easy access. Under “album name” put the name of the book and under “artist name” put the name of the author.
Save the settings. Click on “Audiobooks” in the long left hand side menu in iTunes. This should be in the upper left hand area. You will see a list of your newly renamed audiobook files to the right hand side.
Right click on each file individually starting with the first file of the audiobook. Click “Get Info” and under the “Name” section enter “Chapter 01” and repeat this process for each track going in order changing the chapter number by one number higher each time. Chapters 1 through 9 must have a zero before the primary number such as Chapter 01 and Chapter 09.
When you are finished the audiobook will not only be in the proper track order which allows you to play the chapters in order, but the audiobook will be labeled and easy to find.
