Audio CDs burnt off iTunes cannot be played

This is a rather curious problem - when I burn an album I purchased in the iTunes store to a CD it subsequently fails to play not only on my CD player and DVD player, but also in iTunes itself - in this last case the CD is recognised by iTunes and the Finder, properly displayed, but the songs won't play and iTunes hangs, just as my CD player does. Has anybody else experienced this problem?

I've got a very old CD player which does not handle Mp3 (didn't exist even back then), but that is not the main issue - I just ran a test by burning an album to disk which I successfully burned to disk one or two months ago. Same settings, same album, same Mac. The disc I created two months ago plays fine on both CD player and Mac, the new one has all the problems which I reported in my initial posting and does not play. It is my suspicion that this might be a bug in the 9.0.2 iTunes update which I guess was released between the first and second disk....
could it perhaps be a bad blank cd ? try another brand ?

  • My burned audio CD/DVD from iTunes doesn't play on a CD/DVD audio player

If I burn audio CD or DVD from my iTunes, I cannot play this music on an external player. Any recommendations? Thanks

Hi I just burned an MP3 CD straight from iTunes, and it doesn't play on any MP3 CD player I've tried it on (car MP3 deck, DVD player that plays audio CDs, and MP3s). Audio CDs burned from iTunes work fine though.
I've read somewhere, that when burning MP3 CDs from iTunes, iTunes burns it with Apples standard format, rather than CD players standard format of ISO 9660. And that is the reason why burned MP3 CDs from iTunes only plays on a Mac.
A work around I've done was select all the songs from my list duplicate them in another folder, and then reconvert them in MP3s (so that I don't have to search all over the place for each MP3 file). I then burned these MP3s onto a CD-R using toast's MP3 CD format. And it works on all my MP3 CD players. However, in doing this process, I've lost all the tags for each MP3. The only thing that comes up in the display is the name of the song. Artist, Album, etc... don't show up anymore.
Is there a way of burning an MP3 CD that will play on all MP3 enabled players, while keeping all ID Tags intact, in iTunes?
    Thanks.

  • Quality manager QMQU0003 The audio file is invalid and cannot be played

    Hi,
I've client using Cisco QM 8.5. There is a recording dated 21st November, 2011 for one agent which he is not able to play back. The agent took many calls that day and all the recording are getting played back except one. The duration of call in question is shown as 37 minutes but the file size is 0KB.
The error client gets while trying to play back is:
QMQU0003 The audio file is invalid and cannot be played
The recording is important to the client. Can someone pl comment what could be done to retrieve it and what could have caused it?
I looked at Event Viewer on Agent PC, unfortunatley there aren't any entries since 8th November to 22nd November. The PC was rebooted on 22nd November and all event viewer is getting updated correctly now.
I am attaching the screen-shot of error in case someone is interested in seeing.
    Thanks in advance,
    inner_silence

Thought of updating the case with current status.
Got some help from Calabrio and the engineer identified a known bug in QM 8.5.1 release.
    The Bug ID is: CSCTK75463
Fix will be in QM 8.5.2.
Checked CTIService debugs and found that the agent received a transferred call and the customer has Immediate upload turned on. As a result of this they unfortunately ran into the timing issue which is fixed in 8.5.2.

    Hi,
Not sure you can do anything about this. I get vaiable import speeds - a lot depends on the actual disc. The Read Write spec is 24X but I rarely see speeds close to this.

  • Movies purchased on iTunes cannot be played on dvd

I purchased a few movies on iTunes recently, then backed them up to dvd for two reasons, one was for backup and the other was so I could watch the movie on my television using my DVD player. The backup seems to work, because I can play the movie on my computer from the disc (dvd). However, when I put the dvd in the dvd player and press play, I get an error message that the disc cannot be played. Does anyone have any information on what steps need to be taken to play iTunes purchased movies on a DVD player?

    runtheplanet,
iTunes movies are in Quicktime format (H.264), and not playable on DVD payers. DVD content is MPEG 2, and it is multiplexed, where the video and audio are combined in a single data stream that can be read by the DVD player.
In order to play Quicktime content on a DVD, that content must first be transcoded to the MPEG 2 format and multiplexed. The single stream is then burned to the DVD.
Purchased iTunes content, however, is protected against transcoding. In other words, you cannot burn iTunes movies to a standard video DVD. Your only options for watching purchased iTunes movies on your TV are to 1) connect your computer to the TV, then play the content on your computer, or 2) Use an AppleTV.

  • Copying Audio CDs in not-iTunes format--how?

My MacPro has two optical drives, and I was trying to copy an audio CD from one drive to the other. (Of note, my Preferences do not specify iTunes as the program with which to open audio CDs.) As soon as I insert an Audio CD, all files on the CD seem to show up as iTunes files. When I drag them over to a blank CD and burn it (using the burn button on the blank CD's folder), they're burned as iTunes files. That's fine for computer-to-computer sharing, but if I want to listen on a car CD player, it wont recognize the files. So, how do I copy the songs in the original format without transforming them in any way? Thanks.

    Hi Joseph,
You can create a playlist in iTunes as previously mentioned and then click the burn button at the bottom right hand side. It doesn't actually matter what format they are in, [from what I can tell/have experienced], as it will burn playlists in the .AIFF format anyway which is playable in the car or home audio system.
I have a mixture of AAC, MPEG & Apple lossless formats and even when mixed in a playlist they burn fine - and the same. Toast is an excellent program and does a great job of burning all-sorts so is recommended :0)
I only posted in case you were going to change the format of all your imported files to .AIFF before burning as it is time and space consuming!
    Hope that helps?
    Regards

  • Can't turn mute off / iTunes won't play

After a blue screen restart into safe mode this morning, I have lost all sound. System Preferences lists it as mute, but won't let me change the setting. The volume keys do nothing and I can't adjust using the icon in the menu bar.
While trying to work out the extent of the problem, I have noticed that iTunes won't play.
The computer blue-screened after I downloaded the latest security update. I thought it was because my startup disc was full and after I restarted, I got rid of some of the excess. Everything seemed fine so I downloaded the iTunes update (at the time I didn't realise that the sound wasn't working).
    Any suggestions?
    Cheers,

all well - though the first restart did nowt, the second gave me large amounts of joy

  • CD burnt from iTunes doesn't play on my stereo - help???

I can play the CD that I burned on my laptop but it won't play on my stereo. Is there a step I'm missing? I did notice that the songs "type of file" is listed as MPEG-3. Do I need to convert the files on the CD so I can play them on my stereo?

" I did notice that the songs "type of file" is
    listed as MPEG-3."
Most likely there's your problem. As the previous
poster noted, you look like you burnt the cd as an
mp3 cd and not an audio cd. mp3 cds don't play on
regular cd players unless it's one of the newer cd
    players specifically with this capability.
The burning settings referred to are under
    edit/preferences/advanced/burning.
Make the sure the disc format selected is audio cd.
THANK YOU!!! That solved my problem! I asked a several people including some IT guys I know and known of them knew how to fix it.

  • CDs burned from iTunes don't play in CD player.

This is a relatively new issue - I've never had this problem before. They appear to burn correctly. Sometimes the CD player will correctly identify the number of tracks but when I hit play the CDs just spin around without playing. Other times it the CD player will not recognize the CD at all. I thought it was the CD player but older CDs play fine. And it's not the CDs; I've tried two different brands. I think the problem is in the "initializing" phase which used to last for perhaps ten seconds and now lasts for perhaps two seconds before burning starts. Anybody else ever have this issue?

  • In System Preferences,  and CDs &DVDs, I've set the drop-down menu for audio CDs to open iTunes. can anyone tell me why it always reverts to Ignore?

Can anyone help me figure out why the setting in System Preferences and CDs & DVDs will always revert to Ignore when I set the drop-down menu to When you insert a music CD, to Open ITunes? I've tried iTunes Help and it told me exactly what I have been doing. I've even tried downloading iTunes again, to no avail. If anyone has had the same problem, please let me know. I would very much appreciate it.

In iTunes Preferences not system preferences under the General Tab there is a drop down in the lower part letting you specify what action to take when a CD is inserted
    Show CD
    Begin Playing
    Ask To Import
    Import CD
    Import and Eject
I believe this setting adds to the system preferences
    In system Preferences I have

  • One song off the album i just purchused off itunes doesn't play. why is this

one song off the album i just bought doesnt work why is this? my computer IS authorized

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the entry, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.
(Not entirely sure what happens after you click that link, but fingers crossed it should be relatively straightforward.)

  • My CDs load into itunes but only play the first few second of each song.

When I try to play CDs from itunes only the first few seconds play. I can play CDs from windows media player. At one time I was able to play CDs from itunes.

This might be better answered over in the Importing & Burning in iTunes for Windows forums.

  • Bug Report: Audio Signal breaks off, chopped, muted, not playing, stop, cut

This behaviour happens very seldom and by chance, so I had this once with a Space Designer Reverb and now it's happening with a Softsynth. Please listen to this short mp3:
    http://www.diedacon.de/piano_cut.mp3
The first piano exactly plays how it is intended: Over the complete length. now i copy this midi block in the arrange window behind it. and another piece again behind the next one. the last two ones play shorter though it is the same lenght!
keep in mind: no automation, any sent midi data commands or sysex behaviour, no overlapping (midi data length is set manually shorter than it's "shell") of audio or midi data is interfering to create this "phenomenon".
For the example of the Space Designer Reverb: Imagine an Audio signal flowing through a Space Designer, which creates a tail of reverb. Now think of the audio signal on this channel completely dissappearing for 1 second at the middle part - it seems, if someone just has chopped some piece out of the audio signal: the reverb continues with it's natural fade out to the end.
same "keep in mind" criteria for the space designer.
Anyone else experiancing "audio cutting", "muting" or "stopping midi data"? This is definately some kind of strange bug.

Well, unless you're using Steinberg 'The Grand' as your softsynth piano it's probably no bug but sth else. Does it happen in solo mode, too ?

    Hey Folks,
The first song or two will play or have bad sound quality, but after that the cd freezes up and won't play anymore. This happens with the cd player in both of my cars and on my home stereo.
