Audio channel problem

This is my first problem with my phone. The right channel for all audio (ringers, music, alerts, alarms, etc) is extremely low or non-existent. I noticed lately I had missed some calls that I never heard the phone ring, I figured I just missed it, no biggie, then today while in my car, windows up, radio off, only the sound of the road, my phone rings and I can barely hear it with the volume all the way up and a loud heavy metal ringtone. After investigating I noticed without headphones plugged in the right speaker has little or no sound at all. When I plug in headphones the sound comes back, but while moving the phone around the right channel will sometimes just cut out and be gone or it will fade out, quieter and quieter until its gone. Pull the headphones out and put back in and the sound comes back, but it never comes back in the right speaker with headphones out. I have tried a reboot and also putting the headphones in and out, but problem remains. Since sound on a phone or an ipod is one of the most important things(without sound ipod and phone are useless) I'm surprised a speaker would break or a channel would cut out after only 1-1/2 months of use. BTW - I have never ever dropped the phone. Any ideas or am I looking at going apple / att store?

Well the iPhone has only one speaker, and it is on the left, the right one is the MIC

  • Mp3 audio channel problems in h.264 video file

    I'm trying to encode an mp4/h.264 video file with an mp3 audio channel.  I'm tried encoding it with both Adobe Media Encoder and ffmpeg (using libmp3lame).  I'm streaming the video files using ffmpeg to stream the file through Red5 as a live stream.  When the Flex AIR clients play the stream (using the Spark VideoDisplay component), I hear a frequent sort of chirping sounding audio artifact.  I've also tried playing these files directly from my harddrive in a simple AIR app using NetStream and the Video component.  When I try this I don't hear any audio at all.  In both tests if I use an FLV (On2 VP6) file with an mp3 channel it sounds fine.  Unfortunately I need to use h.264 video.
    I've tried using AAC audio but am having a different issue with that:  http://forums.adobe.com/message/4096536
    Any ideas why I am seeing this audio artifact problem and how to resolve it?

    Most h.264 should work.
    Have you tried FILE/IMPORT MOVIE and then navigate to the h.264 file?
    If that does not work, but the h.264 will play in QuickTIme PLayer, then you can get MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5 (which is free). Drag the h.264 file into MPEG Streamclip. Then FILE/EXPORT TO QUICKTIME. Choose Apple Intermediate Codec for Compressions. You can use this file in iMovie by clicking FILE/IMPORT MOVIE.

  • CS3 audio channel problem when importing to CS5

    I have an HD P2 file-based project which I edited on CS3 which I now need to open in CS5. The P2 footage does not import and I get the following message:
    'The selected file cannot be linked because it has 1 audio channel(s) and the clip has 2 audio channel(s)'
    I tried importing the project instead of opening it and I get the same message.
    I have also tried to offline all the material and see if I can re-link them. Unfortunately I cannot re-link the bin footage as I renamed them all to something meaningful for organisational purposes (eg 'Bill_says_hello' ) as opposed to the rather random naming of P2 files (such as 000R4X.mxf) so I don't know what bin file links with what P2 file, and there are about 2000 of them!
    So either there is a way to view the original names of the bin files so I can match them up, or better still,  another easier way to retrieve them or open them up automatically.
    Without a solution to this, I have just lost months of work so any pointers would be much appreciated.

    Thanks for the suggestion, Simon.
    But finding to the first missing file brings up that message about the number of audio channels available which is still puzzling me, andthen  making me link to them one by one. Not only is it tedious but I know it was stereo before and now it's mono !
    I am sure when we recorded it our excellent sound guy would not made it mono so for some reason CS5 is not recognising the full gamut of sound channels recorded. So I am losing a lot of the sound, which is not good to say the least. I may have to start a new thread as to discover why.

  • Flash Player Audio Channel Problem

    Hi,I just signed up and  I couldn't post this in the normal flash player section because it was grayed out. The problem came with the new update I think, now whenever I'm watching youtube or another website that uses flash its sending audio out of all my speakers. I have 5.1 surround sound, before it would only use the 2 channels if the audio track was stereo. Now it sounds strange because its splitting the audio into t he maximum number of channels I have. When I put on my surround headset its splitting a stereo sound into 7.1 channels. So each time its using all channels available instead of using whats correct for the audio track.
    Is there anything I can do to fix this? or do I wait for an update?

    AT LONG LAST!! a reply!

  • Audio boost problem

    i have a bb curve 8520, i pull in headphones to listen to music however everytime i answer calls or i make a call the sound cut off and i have troubleshooting on the phone it also occures to me when i watch videos or listen to music i desactived the audio boost many times but i still have the same problem .. so please can anyone help me??? thanks

    Welcome to the forum, s.destination. Sorry to hear you're having "audio channel problem." Perhaps if you gave us just a little more information, someone here might be able to help. Your decidedly terse first post doesn't give us much to go on.

  • My ipod's music quality is inferior. It doesnt have the surround sound/ left and right audio channel unlike my brothers ipod? is there a problem with the chip?

    I have an ipod touch 4g (8GB), I got this about 2.5 months ago, the same time my brother get his. My problem is that I noticed that audio quality is better on his device than mine. I have been listening to music and had different music devices before (non-Apple product and mobile phone) and the quality of music is better when I used to listen to those devices as well as my brother's ipod touch. Im referring to the left and right audio channels. Im not so good about the technical stuff but the best explanation I can give you is in a music or a movie, there's an effect wherein you can here a sound only at the left ear phone/speaker that you cant hear at the right earphone/speaker. I mean for example in a song, a guitar intro can be heared only at the left
    ear while the background music plays on the other ear. Or when theres and echo effect on the song that alternates sound on the left and right ear. I hope youre getting what Im trying to say. Im bothered that my ipod is fake or has an internal problem on the chips or something because I didnt bought this at an Apple Center/Mac Center. I bought it on a retailer. I am not able to visit any store or Genius Bar  or contact an apple specialist through phone because of my work schedule and work load.  I have contacted the retailer before when I tried to return it for replacement or repair but he told me that it is under Apple's warranty, not theirs. I do hope that I can get a help from you because I want to really enjoy my device. Thank you and Im looking forward for the responce/assistance form you.

    I suggest you don't apply pressure to the screen - it's a Touch - you touch the screen not push it.

  • Audio Channel Mapping problems

    Hi Everyone,
    I can't seem to find a solution to my problem.
    I use Audition in two situations.
    Firstly, with the internal soundcard (Mac Book Pro) when I'm out and secondly, when I'm at home with my focusrite scarlett.
    When I'm out, Audition won't play as it can't find the focusrite.
    Question: How do I use Audition in both situations?
    My work around is to start up Audition with the shift key when I don't have the focusrite with me.
    Any solutions that anyone can suggest?
    With Logic, it just shows up a message saying my Focusrite isn't available.
    Many thanks!

    Thanks, ryclark for your reply!
    When I'm not using the Focusrite:
    The "Device Class" only shows "CoreAudio."
    "Default Output" only shows "Built-in Output."
    On the "Audio Channel Mapping" page, it has
    "Output":Device: Scarlett 2i2 USB" and
    on "File Channels":  "1[L] Unknown-Device query failed."
    So, it's remembering the Focusrite Scarlett, but then can't find it, so stops.
    Weird!
    Surely there's a workaround?
    Thanks!

  • Exported file sounds different inside Audition CS6 - audio channel mapping problem?

    Hi guys. I've been working on some voice reels today, and for some reason my finished and exported files sound different to how they sound in Audition - basically, the music tracks increase in volume whenever the voice actor isn't speaking. As mentioned, this isn't happening in the Multitrack session, just when playing back the exported track in a third-party app, and has only been happening today. I've tried messing around with the Audio Channel Mapping and Audio Hardware settings in the Preferences, without any joy. I'm suspecting something's got messed up on the sound card, but just wanted to check that I haven't missed something painfully obvious inside of Audition!
    Specs:
    Windows 7 Home Premium, SP1, 64-bit
    AMD Phenom II X64 2.8 GHz, 8GB RAM
    Adobe Creative Suite 6 Production Premium
    M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX650Ti 2GB

    Can't answer that without quite a bit more information about the third-party apps, what exactly you're exporting, workflow, etc. It won't be a mapping issue though - that will only affect the output of Audition to a hardware device.
    But if you are exporting a single file with everything on, and it plays okay in Windows Media Player, for instance, then whatever is happening isn't with Audition, but whatever you are putting it back into. It sounds as though some sort of auto-leveling system is at work - and Audition wouldn't do that unless set up very specifically to do so.

  • How do I export from FCP to a QuickTime file with multiple audio channels?

    I'm delivering a project where the first step is to generate an HD Cam SR master, which I will be doing at a post-production lab. They will then do a QC check for me. To generate this HD Cam SR master, they need to me to bring in my 98-minute long movie on a firewire hard drive, in five equal parts -- QuickTime files. From these five QT files, the lab will then be creating an HD Cam SR master that will have...
    dialogue on tracks 1 and 2
    effects on tracks 3 and 4
    music on tracks 5 and 6
    MY QUESTION
    a) I don't see any way to separate these audio tracks accordingly in the FCP menu for QuickTime export. Does anyone have any experience doing this?
    b) And does anyone know the most efficient way to combine timeline audio tracks for this purpose? I have my dialogue sitting on the first FOUR audio tracks, actually. To deliver this film, I'll need to crush these four audio tracks to two, as listed above. I could generate an AIFF file, I suppose, import it back onto the timeline, sync it up, and then re-export along with the visuals to make the final QT file, but this seems like a generation loss.
    thanks,
    Shanked
    PS the movie is made up of footage from a Sony PMW EX1. I used the codec "XDCAM 1080 24p 35mbs VBR" for editing in FCP. I'll either export to QT using this same codec or switch to "Apple ProRes" if my machine can somehow maintain the sync.

    The following will answer both your questions a) and b).
    Click on your master timeline and press cmd+0 (zero) to bring up Sequence Settings, then click on the Audio Outputs tab on the right. Click on the Outputs option and change it to 6. You can leave them as Stereo pairs.
    Now, back on your timeline, you need to make sure all your audio is organised so each track. A1, A2, A3, A4 etc has all the relevant media on it.
    Then, on the left of the timeline you see the Destination toggle buttons, then you see the Padlocks to lock tracks, then you have the Toggle Auto Select squares. If you right-click on the Toggle Auto Select squares you bring up a little sub-menu, at the top of this list you'll see Audio Outputs, which will show the stereo channels for that particular track. As you've changed the number of Audio Outputs in the Sequence Settings, the list will show: 1&2, 3&4, 5&6. You just tick whichever channels you want.
    In your case, you have dialogue on the first 4 tracks, no problem, just go down through tracks 1,2,3 and 4 as described above and assign these to Audio Outputs 1&2.
    Then just go down through your music and effects audio tracks and assign them accordingly.
    Now, when you export your timeline as a self-contained media file, it will have different audio channels.
    I hope that makes sense. When you change the number of audio outputs as described in the first step, I believe the rest of it is fairly self explanatory, once you know where the settings are.

  • Help using multiple audio channels for one video

    Hi,
    I have a video file with 3 audio files (stereo (.wav), 5.1 surround (.AC3), and commentary (.wav).
    I have placed these on the time line of the video track, but now I need to have buttons to target each of them from a menu. However, when is choose a buttons target, is doesn't give me the option of which audio channel to play (A1/A2/A3 etc).
    Is this possible with just one track, or do I need 3 (each with a different audio file as A1)?
    Hope you can help! cheers.
    Tim

    There is a tutorial on setting this up here;
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/dvd_languagenattress.html
    BTW I would very strongly suggest to compress your WAV files to stereo AC3 files. It will reduce your overall bandwidth, and you will have a disc that will less problems in playing.

  • How can I get 2 Mono Audio Channels in, 2 Identical Mono Channels Out?

    I use Premiere CS6. Most of my work requires simply editing with one audio track used for the on-camera talent's microphone, adding another track for music, and then outputting BOTH of those tracks to the right channel as a mixed mono output AND the same for the left channel (an identical mixed mono output).
    Otherwise, I have had problems in the past based on a user's particular playback settings/hardware/etc., and they may only be able to hear one channel or the other (only hearing voice or music). If I can put a mono mix on the right and a mono mix on the left, then I am covered.
    SO HERE'S THE QUESTION: What settings do I need to adjust to accomplish this, and how do I set this up as a default for future projects? (I realize that Premiere CS6 has a lot of flexibility when it comes to controlling audio, however, I have read several help articles, and cannot find the answer to this simple question.)

    You're overthinking this.  A normal stereo mix with the tracks centered will do the trick.  There are several ways to center the audio.  Option 3 is probably the most efficient.

  • Audio sync problem with videos imported from iPod Touch

    I have an iPod Touch 4th Generation that I used to shoot video at a family birthday party. When I imported the footage into iMovie '11, the audio is not in sync with the video (video is about two seconds behind audio) and there is only the left channel of audio. I verified that the video on the iPod plays just fine--no audio sync problem, both left and right channels work. I just upgraded to iOS 5 on the iPod Touch. The iMac is running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
    As a workaround, I can import the video into iPhoto instead. When I play the video in iPhoto, there are no audio sync problems and both channels of audio can be heard. I have imported other iPod Touch videos successfully into iMovie '11 in the past few months, but this has been the first time these problems have occurred. Any help would be appreciated.

    Premiere cannot handle clips with variable framerate.
    Your converted clips need to have constant framerate.
    Otherwise use a converter like Handbrake.

  • ITunes cannot run because it has detected audio configuration problem?

    I've got Windows XP, recently did a system restore and was forced to re-install iTunes afterwards. After installation, I click the iTunes icon and get a pop up "iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration." I went to the iTunes support page and found a similar trouble shooting scheme. I applied both options and both failed. I tried re-installing again to repair, but after the repair, the problem still remains. I found a major difference in the trouble shooting scheme however and I wander if that could be it. The web page shows quick time's audio channels as "Stereo (L R)", however my quick time control panel doesn't feature that channel. Instead, there are 7 "LayoutTags" to choose from, each containing 7 digits. I'm no computer whiz, so I'm going to need help on this one.

    replying to lowriderpharaoh.
    hmmmmm. it's sounding like you've still got a damaged version of QuickTime in the PC. (or at least, there's something going wrong with the quicktime.)
    let's try swapping out the QuickTime again. we'll take a few additional explicit precautions this time.
    Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. then use it to clear any existing QuickTime installation configuration information from your PC:
    Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
    Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.
    next, we'll try to get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
    switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
    go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
    if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now?
    if it doesn't launch properly, are you still getting the unusual display effects in the QT preferences?

  • Audio Capture problem in Mac OS X 10.7.5 in Mac mini(in Silverlight)

    I got a mac mini and upgrade Mac OS X 10.6.x --> 10.7.5.
    However do not hearing the audio in Webpage using Silverlight.(10.6. version doing well)
    So, I found the solve this problem, that is a audio capture problem.( My device does not supported Stereo audio data).
    this is the source in audio capture using Silverlight code.
      CaptureSource source = new CaptureSource()
                            AudioCaptureDevice = CaptureDeviceConfiguration.GetDefaultAudioCaptureDevice()
                        try
                            foreach (AudioFormat af in source.AudioCaptureDevice.SupportedFormats)
                                if (af.Channels == 1 && af.BitsPerSample == 16 && af.SamplesPerSecond == 8000)
                                    source.AudioCaptureDevice.DesiredFormat = af;
                                    break;
    af.Channels is always af.Channel == 2(Stereo)
    --- the question is
    How can I caputure audio channel mono?
    If couldn`t, how can I transfered audio capture data stereo to mono?
    Please answer the question as soon as possible ^^
