Audio chipset on MSI 745Ultra

Hi all
Linux Mandrake 9.1 detect the audio chipset (of my MSI 745Ultra motherboard) like a "SIS 7012 PCI Audio" device.
Generally, SIS7012 PCI is working with i810_audio driver, but my case no sound is product.
How to alter the BIOS, for a good configuration for my linux box ?

BTW. I use Athlon 2500+ w/Barton core and BIOS cialms FSB is 166MHz
Is it correct? MSI specs state its FSB supports up to 400MHz and as i remember correctly Athlon 2500+ w/Barton core supports higher speed FSB than 166MHz?
For future f-bsd users:
To run FreeBSD on MSI KT6 board you must use -CURRENT branch!
it has appropriate support for VIA's southbridge and SATA ctlr
(added in late December 2003 :-).
Unlike other people claimed - usb works flawlessly, and audio
works also -- you just have to use snd_via8233 kernel module (sic!)
as it has the required cmi9739a support.

How to disable one Audio port on MSI MB with Realtek HD Audio

Hello MIS gurus.
I have MSI p45t-c51 MBoard with ALC889 Audio chipset. On this board i installed Win XP Pro with Realtek HD Audio Driver 5.10.0.6101.
On back audio plate i use Edifier 2.1 audio over one of the audio port's and HeadPhones over another one.
My question is: Is it possible to disable one of the ports so the sound only come from 1 of the audio devices instead of both.
At this moment, what i do is in the Realtek HD Audio Manager, i set LINE IN for the device i do not want to hear. - Advice if that is bad for the device that is plugged in at that port!

Thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned or stated my question better. I'm aware that apple had stopped using wolfson chipset, long back and adopted Cirrus Chipsets. But as i had been to few blogs. It was mentioned that The are using the new improved Cirrus chipset. So was looking for the particular part number of Cirrus!

Sigmatel Audio Chipset and Popping Sound

I have an Intel iMac, which I purchased in April of 2006. Ever since I have had it it has had an annoying popping sound problem. The problem happens 4 times at startup. The problem is noticeable at the beginning and end of the computer playing a sound. Such as a system sound or changing the volume. If other audio, such as an mp3 or dvd is already playing the system sounds will not exhibit the behavior. This is because the audio chipset is already active. The problem happens because immediately after playing a sound the chipset goes to sleep and playing a new sound wakes it up, causing the popping sound. I have had it at the Mac store twice and they could not fix the problem. I have asked Apple to fix the problem or give me a refund. They stated that they will not do that. They also stated that they are aware of the issue and that Apple does not consider it a problem. It is a problem for someone like me who is a musician and uses the computer to produce music. You can only imagine how many pops and clicks I here while creating music. Apple released an audio update in July which sounds like it should fix the problem. Unfortunately it did not fix the problem. I know the problem is unique to the Sigmatel hardware or software driver for the device because it has the same problem in other environments. I have Windows Vista installed on this same iMac using bootcamp and I have the exact same problem in Vista. So the problem (design flaw) is either with the Sigmatel hardware or any of the software written for the hardware. I also had an Intel motherboard, the D975XBX2, with a Sigmatel audio chipset on it. This board also had the same problem. I disabled the onboard sound and installed a Creative Audigy 2 ZS and the problem was not present. I do not know which audio chipset is being used in the new iMacs or the newer Macbook Pros, but I hope that Apple has switched to something besides the Sigmatel, because this is a very annoying problem (design flaw).

Onboard audio dead on MSI Z77A-GD55

I think my onboard audio on my MSI Z77A-GD55 has broke no matter what it just says not plugged in i've tried a reinstalling drivers, cmos reset and a fresh install of windows but it still says not plugged in.
Digital output seems to be working tho.
Doe's it sound like its dead to you guys and should i RMA the board?
The nvidia hdmi audio works fine its just not plugged in on the pic.

I've tried that and all audio output are doing it once it randomly said the speakers were plugged in, but even tho windows was showing it was playing sound my speakers and my headphones that both 100% work didn't play anything

Motherboard audio chipset?

Does anyone one know for sure which audio chipset the Pro uses?
I've seen some places list the Realtek ALC880, but due to it's age I was hoping they went with the ALC880D at very least.
Realtek doesn't even really list the 880 on their products page anymore, only the 880D, even though their drivers support all of them.
Can anyone verify?

Apple almost never reveals component part numbers or manufacturers. In any case, they may change over time or even within a given product run. However, the Mac Pro's Audio Developer Note contains a fair amount of information about the audio system, here is the link:

Further, I just checked my Mac Pro's system profiler and it says that the audio is "Intel High Defintion Audio" which suggests to me that it is part of Intel's system chip set for the Xeon. Although, the block diagram in the Mac Pro Developer Note shows the audio in a separate block, not just part of the south bridge.

Need audio driver for MSI 850 Pro2 MS-6523 MB

Hi,
I have installed Windows2000 on a system with an MSI 850 Pro2 MS-6523 motherboard. Windows2000
does not have an audio driver for this board. The MSI web site lists a bunch of audio driver but I cannot
tell which one is the correct one. I have tried about 10 of them but none of them will install. Can anyone
tell me exactly which audio driver I need to download for this board?

I installed win 2000 sp4 and Intel Inf 6.2.1.1001 Production Release, still I can't get audio to work. Device Manager still says Multimedia Audio Controller still doesn't have the proper driver. According to Intel's web site it's up to the mobo manufacturer to provide ac97 drivers, but I can't find any on the MSI web site for the 850 Pro2 mobo.

Audio Problem with MSI G45

Hello, i have read all of the posts there about the same problem but doesn't help me to solve it..
When i try to install Realtek drivers then the Audio Service doesn't work
example :
and the Realtek Audio Manager is empty

so i try to solve it by its default windows settings when i press the audio device icon and its show me this one

after this my Audio Service and Realtek Manager change to normal

when i try to load a sound nothing working.
Both Realtek and Audio Service settings disabled again and so on the same loop. What can i do for this one?

Playing DVD-Audios with an MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum

I have a system built around an MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum motherboard. I'm using the motherboard's onboard sound, and I have it connected to a 5.1 speaker system. Using WinDVD 6 Platinum, I can play regular DVDs just fine, with awesome surround sound. However, when I try to play DVD-Audios, I only get stereo sound. Anyone have any suggestions?

DVD video sound format AC3 5.1 and DVD-Audio sound format is not the same .
DVD-Audio disks has also a video AC3 5.1 track and stereo track , set yor sw player to use AC3 and see if it helps.
E.g a soundblaster Audigy ZE , or X-FI can render DVD-Audio , but not the onboard sound on Neo4.

Passive cooler for mobo chipset on MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum

One of my customers has this motherboard, which has a noisy motherboard chipset fan. I would prefer to replace it with a passive cooler if possible. Does anyone have any opinions on this and/or recommendations for compatible products I could go for?
