Audio clicks/pops since Mavericks upgrade

Ever since the upgrade to OSX 10.9, I've been experiencing frequent clicks/pops in MainStage 3's output with the same buffer/processor core settings as before.  What's strange is that the CPU doesn't seem to be spiking at all, and there isn't anything else taxing the computer.  Higher buffer settings help a little bit, but even at a level of 256 samples I'm still getting more degraded output as compared to Mountain Lion.  It doesn't seem to be plugin-specific... the problem is present in Apple's AU's as well as third-party plugins like Kontakt and Ivory II.  Using standalone instruments outside of MainStage doesn't produce the same clicks/pops, even at lower buffer settings.  I'm not using an external sound card/interface.
Things I've tried:
-Different buffer settings, as mentioned above - using MainStage 3 before the upgrade at 64 samples (with safety buffer) was great
-Removed MainStage as well as the associated preference files and reinstalled
-Created new concerts/patches rather than using preexisting ones
Any suggestions?  My last resort would be trying a clean install of Mavericks or reverting to Mountain Lion, but I don't really have a strong desire to do either of those... Thanks in advance for your help!
HW: 2012 MBP Retina at 2.6 GHz
SW : OSX 10.9.1 Mavericks, MainStage 3.0.2 using Kontakt 5, XLN Addictive Keys, Ivory II

I just upgraded to Maverick 10.9.2 recently . I tested the latest version of Mainstage after reading this post to see if I might encounter the same problem .
After spending 30 minutes with Mainstage , there's hasen't been any clicks or pops whatsoever .
The buffer size is 128 samples .
I also am using ONLY Logic soft synths . No 3rd party in my concerts . (  for now anyways )
Just wondering if the problems that you have been running into might be caused by the use of 3rd party plugs .
I am using a Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 as class compliant USB 2 audio interface with buitl in midi .
I had to update the firmware of the audio card because of Maverick to avoid audio dropouts . That also solved a potential problem .

  • Audio playback problems in Safari since Mavericks upgrade

I've been having intermittent audio problems in Safari ever since upgrading to Mavericks on my iMac.
Google Play Music doesn't make any sound at all in Safari. Works fine in Firefox.
Downloading audio clips/mp3 playback in Safari has intermittent clicks/pops & sounds terrible.
Tried installing latest version of Flash player...no help.
Everything used to be fine before upgrading to Mavericks.
    What gives?

I did the following and got it working again....unfortunately, I'm not sure which action specifically fixed the problem, because I did a few at the same time.
    From Google Support:
"Alternatively, you may enable HTML 5 audio without the need for flash by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right corner and selecting 'Music Labs'. From here, you may click the radial 'Enabled' button to the right of the HTML 5 description.(Note: You must be using Chrome, Safari 3.1+ or IE 9+)
Clearing your browser's history and cache has been reported as solving this issue."
    Works fine now.
Note: Although Google Play Music is working now, MP3 audio playback directly through the Safari browser still sounds clicky/poppy. This issue doesn't happen when using Firefox.

  • Issues with .mov files from Canon 5d mk3 - since Mavericks upgrade...

    Hello,
Ever since I upgraded my OS to Mavericks, Premier Pro has been refusing to 'see' .mov files in my projects. In the timeline the bits of .mov footage are appearing as red blocks, in the preview pane you get 'Awaiting media' then the red block of doom.
So currently I'm having to convert footage from .mov to mp4v - then it seems to be OK. The upgrading to Mavericks could be a coincidence ... but before that I had no issues with PP.
    This is my system:
Processor  2.8 GHz Intel Core i5
    OS X 10.9.1 (13B42)
Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 5750 1024 MB
    Memory  12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
I would love some help/ideas on this - it's doing my head in having to convert .mov files, and having to back convert stuff in my existing projects ... please help!
    Best - Abbottssnapper

  • Unstable since Maverick upgrade

Since the Maverick upgrade some programs freeze randomly longer than before.   Almost daily the bluetooth will disconnect from iTunes requiring System Prefs > Sound to reconnect.   Then shortly after that the iTunes will forget the radio station I was playing.   This did not happen before.   I now check the Software update often hoping for the cure.   A claimed benefit for Maverick is the improved battery use, however I never had battery issues in my MacBook with earlier OS.
Unrelated, the AppleCare Protection Plan can not be bought if the MacBook is older than 3 years - enforced obsolescence?

Before Maverick, programs rarely froze unless there was some delay in downloading data from the internet such as when launching Chrome etc.

  • Mail Issues since maverick upgrade

Since upgrading to Mavericks I have been having the several issues with Mail. The are as follows:
Scrolling is available intermittently or not working at all (using Magic Mouse)
Problem: Scrolling works for a while when using mail, then stops working. I have to click on the side bar to go up and down on all scroll screction within mail. This issue only resolves when quitting Mail, and sometimes will only work again when shutting down and restarting my iMac.
Scrolling on folders withing the main body of my iMac also stop working from time to time and only resolves when force quitting finder, or restarting my mac (or somethime shutting down and restarting the mac).
Email address pull down menu does not close down
Problem: When typing an new email and selecting an outgoing address the pull down menu appears, but once an address is chosen using the mouse curser the pull down menu remains on screen and does not close down automatically. I can not close it with teh mouse curser and have to use the keyboard (return or tab buttins) to close down the drop down address menu. It used to close down prior to Maverick upgrade. The pull down menu remains on screen blocking access to the CC and Subject sections.
Saving Mail attachments to desktop folders does not work.
Problem: Saving attachements from mail does not work at all using the drop down menu within mail. The process of using the save attachments menu within mail seems to work, but when you go to the folder after using this process, the item or items have not been saved.
Click and drag is the only way to move attahcements from mail to desktop folders now.
Mail will not quit automatically when shutting down Imac
Problem: When shutting down my iMac, mail will no longer quit automatically and prevents the shut down. Once shut down has been selected, Mail will no longer quit and I have to use Force Quite to shut it down.

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Files won't save since Maverick upgrade

I have a file that exist in a folder and would like to replace it with an updated version of the same file (example.xls with example.xls) it asks if I want to replace and I say yes but the original file remains. I must first delete the original then svae the new version. This is only since I did the Maverick upgrade. Is there a fix for this.

  • Macbook Pro crashes randomly since Mavericks upgrade

Can anyone help, or suggest what I need to do exactly so I can use my Macbook securely once again?  I cannot use it for work whilst it randomly crashes as I am worried about losing everything again.

I'm unsure Clinton, but what I do know, its quite random when it crashes. and I lose everything I have been working on, so right now, my macbook is not useable for work, which *****.  It was running perfectly with Mountain Lion, and Snow Lepoard before that, its only since the upgrade to Mavericks when I started experiencinng these random crashes

  • Mac seems slow to load  web pages and email since mavericks upgrade

Since upgrade from Mountain Lion to Mavericks on my iMac, web pages seem a lot slower to load on screen. Also, when I open my mail inbox, the mail content (wording) takes a long time before appearing on the right hand side, then followed a little later with the display content. I have synchronised all my mail accounts and also emptied my cache in the safari browser, but this has not resolved the problem.

Go to Applications (you can do this by clicking on the desktop and hitting cmd-shift-A). Within the Utilities folder you should see a program called Terminal. Launch this program, which should just be a window that you can type into. Type the following (or just copy and paste into the window) and hit return:
         networksetup -setv6off Wi-fi
Then go back to Network Preferences and verify that IPv6 is set to off. If that doesn't help, enter these two commands in succession:
         cd /Library/Preferences/
         sudo mv com.apple.security-common.plist ~/Desktop/
Note that this moves a configuration file onto your desktop. If that doesn't fix things you may want to put it back:
         cd /Library/Preferences/
         sudo mv ~/Desktop/com.apple.security-common.plist .
    Good luck!

  • MBP running very slow since Mavericks upgrade - etrecheck included

I've read through a number of answers, but still having the same problem. Since upgrading to Mavericks in October, my MBP has been slow. Ot goes through periods of being OK, but recently perfomance has degraded again. Any suggestions more than welcome - I feel like I'm running Windows 95 on a Pentium machine...

  • Time Machine not making hourly backups since Mavericks upgrade

Recently upgraded to Mavericks from Lion 10.7.5 (took 14 hr.). Since then, when I enter Time Machine (without being connected to my external backup drive) I get a notification "your time machine backup disc can not be found". The only options given are to "set up time machine" (which I have done) or "cancel". My previous backups to my external hard drive are shown in the back ground but can not be opened and there are no hourly or weekly backups shown.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • Imovie 10.0.3 since maverick upgrade no link with camcorder

Since upgrading to OSXmaverick I cannot get my Sony HDR-XR500 to be recognised by imovie. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this, before Maverick I had no problems with linking my camcorder to my Mac. I have the latest imovie and mac upgrades - what is going on ?

While your camera is listed as supported by iMovie 9:
    http://help.apple.com/imovie/cameras/en/index.html?lang=en_US)
it is not on the list for iMovie 10, although other related models are:
    http://help.apple.com/imovie/10/cameras/en/index.html?lang=en_US
Have you tried connecting the camera and copying the AVCHD package to your Mac with the Finder and then seeing if it will import from there?
If this doesn't work you can open the the package (right click - show package contents) and navigate down to the STREAM folder which holds the .mts video clips.   You should be able to drag and drop these directly into an iMovie 10 event or even directly into a project timeline.
Finally, according to this article, its necessary to preconvert the clips:
    http://androidiosconvertertips.altervista.org/blog/sony-xr500-mac-editing-tips-i ngesting-sony-hdr-xr500-mts-files-to-fcpimoviefce/
However, they are trying to sell software to do the comversion and I'm not convinced that its really necessary.

  • Audio clicks/pops in FCPX 10.1 w/ new mac pro

I recently upgraded to a new mac pro 6 core and run FCPX 10.1. I've found that my audio will 'click' at the end of a track (the way it used to in FCP7). If I use the cross fade it still clicks. If I automate the volume to cut off before the end of the track, it does not click.
This was not happening before I upgradeded to 10.1 / the new mac pro. Any ideas why this might be happening?
    Thanks!
    Kyle

Can't test because I don't have the new MP.
But just thinking that since there is a lot  of nMP traffic at the MP forum, you might  post your issue there to see if you can get a better response.
    Good luck.
